Hello all,
I've been using CM7.1 and 7.2 Temasek's KANG for quite some time now, and it's working great.
I do have one annoying problem: when I use Navigon and enter a route, I get voice directions. After the voice stops speaking, you can hear the speaker being for a few seconds (hissing noise) and then the speaker shuts off. No problem there.
However, at random the speaker starts making (quite loud) 'popping sounds' at random intervals. The voice isn't trying to say anything at that time. Often it pops 3-4 times in a row, then it's quiet for several minutes.
If I use DSP Manger and select either option (enhance bass or the equalizer), then the 'popping'-sounds changes into a soft (old dial-up) modem-kind of sound. It's not very loud but you can hear it. It usually stops by itself, or it stops after so turn the volume up/down - and then it stops because of the 'beep' the speaker makes when changing the volume, not because of the volume change itself.
This does not happen on stock firmware. So it seems Navigon is 'leaking' sound somehow and with stock firmware that 'leaking' is just ignored and with CM it is turned into one sound (popping) or the other (modem-like). Since it can be affected with the DSP Manager, I'm also hoping there is some solution that can be applied or some work-around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you still have the problem - or found a solution for it?
Im using mapfactor navigator and get all 3-4seconds a noisy sound, sometimes also in other apps. Somewhere i read its because 2 apps are using the sound chip, but i don't know if the problem is caused by cyanogenmod 7.2 or hardware issue :/ Im using android since 6 days and the first i did was flashing cyanogenmod
No, I'm sorry, I haven't found a solution. It does seem to be related to CM 7.2 however, I didn't have this on stock.

Hello.
I am using IceDroid V4 with Zargloub's kernel g7b652eb. And my main problem is: if some processes are running (like downloading/uploading, playing music, phone calling etc.) and phone had gone to suspend, it is impossible to wake up it, untill all this processes will be stoped. Why is this problem still not fixed?
And another problem - sometimes my mic doesn't work. Sometimes, work perfectly. Why is this?
Sorry for bad English.

the problem with microphone, does it happen when you want to call somebody or receive a call?
you can activate speaker and disable it, than it works or you can try to push the vol up down button than it should work. I just can say that the first option with speaker is working. haven't tried the second one.
I tried your methods, enabled/disabled speaker and mic, changed volume by volume keys. But my mic still not work. My mother are angry. (Only she call me, and I must recall she from my another phone (se z530 =) everytime),
Problems begins after firs reboot with latest kernel. Before thet, mic works fine. And after that, it worked ony one time. I reflashed phone, tried 20th feb. kernel, but nothing changed. Can kernel damage mic?
UP. After updating to the 7th icedroid I still have problem with mic. I had not that on the first Zargloub's rom flash. So, I am thinking what my problem connected to drivers, because when mic enabled, others hear noise, and when mic disabled, there are no any sounds. Or my mic really dead?
You tried a different rom? If the problem then still excists your mic might be dead, if it works it might be a bad installation or kernel related maybe?
Hi folks,
I'm running Beanstalk 4.4.2, with
- PA's GApps 20131215-signed
- Firmware 3.05.651.5
- S-OFF,
and I'm experiencing sudden volume jumps up. It's reproducible. If I MAKE a call, then hang up, everything gets really loud: notifications, music/media, incoming ringtones, button presses. Even when I turn volume to one click above vibrate(silent), all sounds are really loud.
Rebooting fixes the problem, until the next time I make a call.
I've tried the new KitKat dialer apk with local search, but this doesn't fix the problem. I've tried freezing DSP Manager, but this doesn't do anything either.
Anyone else having similar problems, or know of a fix? Thanks!
Edit: also occurs with last CM build. Must be common for 4.4.2?

Feel better... You're not alone I too have the same issue on cm11 nightlies but only some of the most recent nightlies...I'm sure the cause is getting merged along the way. Its only a matter of time before its sorted.
Lol...I was falling asleep and got a text and it was on max vol...I double checked...turned it down to the lowest again and booom! Another text! Max again...thought it was just me being used to a quiet room or something or that my ring vol was not linked to notification vol but they were
Cheers
Thanks for making me feel like I wasn't crazy! It is pretty impressive how loud the phone is able to get. Hope there's a fix soon!
Few more notes to see if it helps anyone get to the bottom of this:
DSP manager works ok with fresh boot. Crank volume up, custom EQ works.
Make a call, volume spikes up, and then I have to turn volume down to one below vibrate. DSP custom EQ seems to still work: if I crank different frequencies up, you can hear a difference, but the thing is it doesn't sound the same as with fresh boot/DSP settings.
Eg: crank the 250hz range up, get nice bass from speakers with fresh boot. Make call, have to turn volume down, but the bass is gone and I can't get it to sound the same fiddling with the EQ.
I can't think of why this is the case. Anyway, don't mean to be annoying, just trying to see if anyone can piece this random info together.
Hi guys,
i have got a pretty annoying problem with my Note. Iam currently using the CM 11 Nightly 20140329 (but i did have the same issues on other roms previous with 4.3). When iam listening to music or a notification comes in, the speaker quits its service with a very short cracking sound. But as i figured out only at a higher volume. When i turn the volume pretty low, to around a third of the max it's working fine.
I did already change the buzzer but it didnt help ...
With a headphone there is only the known issue of stopping from time to time, but it works at least better
Any ideas on how to fix my issue?
Thanks in advance for your replies
Hi I just recently bought SP (C5303), unlocked BL, rooted, installed CM 11 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599650 and the phone is great, but I've found some annoying bugs (may be rom issues).
Most important is, that the volume is veeeery low, especially when I'm in noisy places the in-call volume is just not enough even thou I have volume on max. I've found many reports to this problem, but no working solution this (http://www.droidviews.com/get-higher-volume-on-sony-xperia-z-zl-t-sp-v/ doesn't seem to do the trick).
Another thing is, when I'm using head set, listening to music and somebody calls me I can't pick it up. Button is working, but it seems to have focus not on dialer, but rather on player widget.
Does anybody else have these issues? Are there any solutions I missed?
I have been using Atrix HD MB886 -unlocked- in India for nearly an year now
But Since CM11 M7 build - i have been facing wierd battery drain and problems with Audio(earpiece, speaker and headset)
I then flashed factory image
MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886
and also got updated to
98.4.20.MB886.ATT.en.US (latest OTA)
But the audio problem is still there
Ever since, the speaker sound and all the system sounds, including ringtones, call volume, etc go off by themselves randomly, so I can't hear anything when the phone rings, If by chance I pick up a call while in this state, I can't hear a word the person on the other side utters, but that person does hear me clearly.
Restarting the phone, the sound works perfectly, until for some unknown reason it goes off, and I have to repeat the whole process.
Reading through forums on the web, some people who have had the same problems report improvements and some very few even report having obtained solution to this persisting issue after installing the app "SoundAbout" from google play store. But no use for me.
I have tried nearly all ROMS for Atrix by now - but no relief.
Any fixes., ????!!!!!
im having the exact same problem with my atrix. Tried multiple roms incuding flashing back to stock. I assumed it was a hardware issue but restarting the phone fixes it. Iv also noticed sometimes the sound comes back by itself after a while, even without a reboot. I played songs with the audio muted for a continuous 8hrs and the sound was fine all the while. Anyone else have the same issue or possible reasons what might be causing this..???
HW problem
Hi, this is most likely a hardware issue.
I had same problem sometimes. When I hit the phone, at the top (not furiously), it started working again.
Most likely loose connection with speaker terminals.
you can open it and pull the speaker connectors.
