How to change kernel, without changing ROM, - LG Optimus 2x

Guys please suggest me on how to change the kernel without changing ROM, the only reason is to get a better battery back up
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA

Just flash it via cwm, it will not affect your current settings... If you don`t have, you must root your phone and install cwm recovery, download your desired kernel and flash it...
And read a little bit in development section, it`s all there...

Yup, flashing a kernel will not change your ROM.
Press thanks to helpful answers!

Thanks bro

2- Flash stock JVP via ODIN
3- Flash CFroot kernel via Odin
4- Flash GingerHoney via CWM

I have a question about kernel. Now i'm running cf root kernel...btw i want to change bootanimation so i have to change kernel too. If i change kernel, do i lose root access? what about applications i have installed? Before flashing new kernel do i have to remove lagfix/ext4 or can i leave it?
Thanks for help

Changing of bootanimation does not require u to change ur kernel.Changing of kernel will not make u lose ur root access.Only changing of roms make u lose ur apps unless u install (no wipe) roms. Before changing kernel u need to disable lagfix before changin kernel to prevent problems appearing

Are you sure is not required? i've seen everywhere that only some kernels supports changing of bootanimation. How can i change bootanim w/o flashing new kernel?

Not all kernels support changing the bootanimation.

Hmm bootanimations just need to be stored somewhere in ur phone bt some kenels read different names not bootanimations.zip.

Try absolute system tools for great interface with previews and massive choice of boot animations
Is that an app available on market?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Anyway the problem is not where/how to place .zip file... The problem is that lot of kernels don't recognize .zip bootanimations, but just .qmg boots.

When to calibrate your battery?

I understand you need to calibrate the battery after you flash the new ROM.
I just want to make sure into more precise details, like do you need to calibrate your battery after install a new theme in cwm? Upgrade the rom from old version no wipe, like check rom v4 to V5. And stuff like that.
Thanks so much because I kind of confuse:/

Something is seriously b0rked in your system, so I'd advise you to go
back to rooted stock like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25285584&postcount=3
You'll have full root after that, and your CWMR will be fully functional.
For now my phone is useable, everything works but not cwmr.... Should i still need to get a new stock rom?
From what i read in the topic you link to me...
Does it del away my kernel and etc....?

I want pure room without additions or problems to my Note
It should be "ROM" and not room. Anyways you should try "clean note".

thanks to you guys and I hope that this rom is safe and without any problems
If you want to use Hydracore Kernel, please check with the developer first whether this is a safe / unsafe kernel (in case you want to do full wipe on your phone).
I just read 1 case saying the phone brick when wiping use the Hydracore v2 kernel.
Pls check with the developer first.

I don't want to dampen your expectation but don't let your hopes soar high. Every Custom ROMS I know has their own bugs and kinks to be worked out on the next updates again. That's why there are always updates release on every custom ROMS out there.
+1 Cleanote ROM + HydraCore Kernel = Awesome !
The safest kernel available for the note !
Edit deleted
so we can say no rom like my need

Official ICS help

Hi guys, my friend has an OB and wants to upgrade to ICS, i've looked on the web and i've seen flashing with KDZ and others, can u link me or tell me how to flash the official firmware. Also if possible, can u give feedback on how smooth it works. Thnx. I personally own a samsung phone so im more familiar with ODIN. Are there any chances of bricking the OB if done the correct procedure? Thnx again.
If the phone is rooted it can easily be flash thru cwm

No its stock gb rom :< he didnt want to root, he's all the offcial type lol unlike meh.
I think the official ics rom gives massive battery drain that's why we choose to install custom ics rom instead try browsing the general forum for the step by step guide of flashing of the ofc rom thru sft, hope i helped

You can find all your answers about flash and brick here and about ics here.
Please search a little before you ask a question.
