Simple yes or no to see what percentage of users have this problem. Please vote so that the data will be accurate.
No.

Vote guys. I want this to show an accurate percentage.
No defects at all I voted NO!
not sure how to vote. I guess yes, it's such a slight lift that if I didn't read about it here I wouldn't have even noticed. I'm planning to do the "fix"(remove back panel and tighten screws) to see if that takes care of it.

Yes, because everyone who hasn't got this "problem", is going to be trawling the net just to answer polls saying they haven't got a problem instead of enjoying their device.
Most who have got this "problem" wouldn't know they have this "problem" until they find threads like this telling them they have a "problem", even though their device is working perfectly.....
If you want the build quality of a £600 tablet then buy a £600 tablet.... This one is cheap as hell so the odd incredibly minor "problem", is to be expected.

I disagree. Basic quality control is key. Even for a $250 device.

I can't even use my tablet because the screen is so bad. This is no "minor problem" and even a $200 device should come working properly. If you don't agree with my poll, ignore it.
No issues here. I highly doubt 50% of the tablets have this issue though, poll seems flawed.

The poll is not flawed, it's inaccurate because only 40 people have voted. Once more votes are in, we should get a better idea of the accurate percentage.

Yes.
And it's going back with RMA. Slight lifting on brand new device, what is it going to be in a year?
I've got the problem, but im going to wait a few months before I RMA it. Wait for a different batch.
Can someone tell me what I should be looking for? Any specific part of the screen? Any pictures?

Ive got a wierd problem with my dad's GS1 running cm10.1
Its got wierd horizontal lines which make it difficult to use. Some of the lines kind of "merge" together if i leave the display on for a minute but its still hard to use and returns back to the lines after i relock/unlock
Ive tried rebooting and taking the battery out but it doesnt help
Is it anything other than a faulty display because its out of warrenty now!

I'm sure it's a hardware fault - might be dead/stuck pixels or a bad connection. If there's some place where you can repair your phone or Samsung repair centre - don't wait, just ask them how much it'd cost. If it's bad conection - i think it won't cost more than 20$ and if it's screen, you should either try to live with it or buy a new/used phone, because screens are expensive.

Just van update if anyone cares/has the same problem.
A quick Google search for Galaxy s and Blue Screen brings up a whole bunch of results that look similar to my problem - there doesn't seem to be any fix though.
In the end I bust brought it to a local repair guy who charged £25 for fitting a new screen with 12 months warranty, which I'm happy with!

As the title says.... screen is broken. Display still works, but touch screen is shot...
I dropped it and hoped it was like most touch devices and the touch screen still worked..... but no luck.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, you'll have to buy a whole new screen assembly or have ASUS replace it. Which will cost around 150 usd if you do it yourself. Shame on Google for such poor support...
Oh man I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe check radio shack they sold some, its possible they have some service... Don't quote me on that though.
Radio shack here has a sign on the door says they fix screens. Worth a shot.
You could always buy another n7 on Craigslist. Then you would have spare parts, battery etc. Could be cheaper than fixing yours.
Well my girlfriend just dropped her HTC First that she got less than a month ago on our linoleum floor and the screen completely spider-webbed. And when I say "completely" I mean the ENTIRE screen. The "gorilla glass" they supposedly put on this phone is more like fine China. It didn't even land on the actual screen....
Anyway, are there any replacement screens out for this thing yet? I know it just came out and my question will most likely fall on deaf ears but figured I would give it a go. Also a disassembly guide would be beneficial as well.
Thanks in advance

dude first of all gorilla glass only protects against scrachs not falls and not yet for the screen there ain't any around so be more careful with ur newly purchased phones
2 feet onto some soft linoleum should cause this type of damage I'm sorry. I've dropped my HTC one x onto the corner of a vice at work directly onto the screen and nothing happened. And also, the so called "insurance that we have said it would be 199$ to fix it and HTC gave me a quote of 150$ to fix it. Nice to know everyone stands behind the quality of some products.....
How about you tell my girlfriend to be more careful with her newly purchased phone? Wont really help too much at this point.

You could always check on eBay. But I doubt you will be able to find anything be as new as it is. I plan on disassembling mine sometime soon to play around. If I'm able to I will whip up a tutorial

Awesome. I'd definitely appreciate it if you got around to a disassembly. Could not find ANYTHING on this phone at all being as how new it is. Especially with a name like HTC "First". Kind of sends the search engine into a plethora of random stuff.

Alrighty. Well there is a store online that is selling the digitizer now! But what I don't know is how do I go about separating the LCD from the cracked glass without destroying it?!

very carefully lol theres a video for the htc one xl that shows how to separate them but there is a disclaimer not to do it if you are not a pro. You can try and see if a repair store will do it for you if you bring them the parts or wait till they sell them in one piece.

this same situation with cell of my wife. I bought a case but need to replace a screen. In at&t said that I should call CPR but they can't help (not typical model of HTC they said). So I found this: youtube.com/watch?v=LIsnRmxw0cI and link above (to the store). And I have serious question: maybe anyone has experience with this company? You guys will buy it?

They look legit, but I don't think I'd attempt separating the glass from the digitizer myself. And it looks like they only have digitizers in stock, not full screen assemblies.

Hey,
I'm happy to be a new HTC First broken screen owner now.
But since the glass is partially crumbling, wouldn't it be easier to separate it from the LCD ? Anybody has successfully repair his First ?
(For the little story, it was one of the first time I ever drop a phone in my life -_-)
My kid dropped her phone and now the screen does this. Thank you in advance and merry Christmas!

To try and replace that on your own would be nuts with this phone.
**edit** proof: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494
You need a new LCD. You'll have to buy a combined LCD+digitizer. It'll run around $70-$80. Check phonepartsusa.com. Repair is going to be ridiculously hard, and don't attempt to do so if you lack the proper tools.

*edit*
Just noticed your pictures aren't even of a One. Good luck. Same thing still applies, however.

K^ That. The digitizer is just the clear layer that registers touches, it doesn't actually display anything, that is solely the LCD panel of which yours is broke. While a digitizer is always cheap it's usually good practice to buy a combo just because of what a pain it is to replace JUST the digitizer.
But, that doesn't even matter because your screen is broke.and you need a new LCD. If you want to risk replacing it for this phone, God speed. It's notoriously impossible to tinker in.
EDIT: oohhh, you have an EVO 3D, Not a One, much easier to tinker in and I've actually done it a few times without issue but the screen might be more expensive since its a 3D panel. You'd be better off just replacing the phone then, honestly.

Was gonna say the same thing. I don't repair these professionally, but do it often for friends and co-workers. I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of device that is; It isn't a ONE, an EVO 4G LTE, or 1x, so I can't get you a price quote. But, I do know that these days, the screen assembly is one piece; it is possible to get a digitizer by itself, I suppose, but taking the device apart will be difficult enough without trying to remove the screen from the rest of the assembly. To me, it looks like an entire replacement is needed anyway. Long story short, probably be easier to get a new device, like the other guys said.....
Is that an EVO 3D? Oh god, the memories. I'm agreeing with others that it'd be easier to just get a new phone. However, if you really wanna try and replace it, this will be what you need.
