[Q] HD7 does not read goldcard in USB Host Mode - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
I'm currently trying to get my phone to recognize the goldcard that I create in USB host mode and nothing I seem to try works.
I found the microSD's serial ID with the help of my father's Android phone and created a goldcard.img file. I then formatted (FAT32) and then partitioned the card, followed by using goldcardtool 0.0.5 to load the file onto the flashdrive. I then copy and paste all the files from the pre-NoDo stock ROM I downloaded named:
Code:
Schubert_TMOUS_1.54.531.02_Radio_5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U.7z
After that I remove my card reader and reinsert it to check if it reads, and it boots it like a normal SD card as I figured it should.
I then turn off my phone, plug the card reader into the USB hub I borrowed from a friend (after the USB splitter I bought didn't work), turn the phone back on in USB host mode (volume down + camera) and then plug my phone in.
I give it some time but it never recognizes the SD card. I don't think it even recognizes that it is plugged in because the charging light never lights up either.
I've been at it for about a week now after running into problems on every step and I've tried all sorts of different suggestions I've seen around this forum for people who had similar problems, and yet the problem still persists.
Some other information that may be pertinent:
My phone is currently developer unlocked with a student account (so only 3 apps can be loaded at a time).
Firmware Version: 2250.21.51202.531
Bootloader Version: 5.12.2250.0(135916)
This is my first time posting in XDA (although I have lurked for a while) so I apologize if I missed any information.

i have view your post, that i have some doubt maybe you have not clear described
1,how big is your sd card you choice?this operation request that the sd card can't more than 4GB. smaller better
2,which file type you choice to downgrade?this operation just need a nbh file.
it extracted from the rom.
3,have you rename the file name?the nbh file which used to downgrade bootloader need rename for SCHUING.nbh.
do all operation of above, then try again.

1. Both cards I tried (microSD and normal SD) were 1GB each.
2. I was actually putting all the files in. I only need to put the .nbh file?
3. I renamed it. I double checked by copy/pasting straight from the instructions.
So it turns out my problem was that I was putting the wrong files on the card. I only need to put the .nbh file then?
EDIT: So I tried putting only the nbh file on the SD card and doing it again and I still get the same problem (phone says "Enter USB Host Mode.." even though I am connected by USB).

yes, just need a nbh type file, and it extracted from the rom 7004 or 7008.
i think the problem is, you have choiced the wrong nbh file.
there were two nbh file in the rom.one named ruu_signed.nbh and another one named spl_signed.nbh.
please use spl_signed.nbh to downgrade your hd7 bootloader.
rename spl_signed.nbh into SCHUING.nbh,it must be capitalized
does there is any other files in your sd card which use to downgrade bootloader?make sure your sd card is full empty before you put in the nbh file.

Any Ideas? I have the same problem with my HD7S :/

you see, the thing is not with the ROM files or with the gold card, the device just don't read usb never does, like nothing is connected to it, just stuck at the Enter USB Host Mode.. screen forever.
If it was wrong ROM file it would give an error, but this problem is different, I tried doing it using a number of card readers, and my old TouchPro2, the screen of the TP2 never changes, I think it should tell me to choose USB mode (Active sync or Mass storage) but that never happens

I tried the other nbh file also and still no luck.

This describes the problem I'm having as well. My phone doesn't even recognize that it is plugged in while on this screen. Every other time it works fine except for during this process.

thanks for your question,it makes me think of another kind of possibility.
does your sd card reader have indicating lamp?check whether it is on working when you insert it and connected to phone and power.if it not on working, please make a y cable by yourself.
please don't connect usb hub or y cable to pc,it must be power supply.
as your issue,i was consulting to my friends around,i am waitting for there good news, hope it was useful for your issue

IT WORKED!!
here's what I did, I used the Y cable that I tried yesterday, but what I used now a 1GB Flash memory patched with a random goldcard image, connected the power to my phone's charger, at the other end was my TP2, it took a lot of time but nothing happened, so I disconnected my phone and connected the flash memory and almost instantly it read it and it's flashing as we speak.
I wish you good luck OP

@OP make yourself a Y cable, it might sound too much work but it isn't
I spent about 2 months with halfbricked phone just because of... laziness, and gotta say, after you flash an unlocked rom, your phone will feel like something else

I think I will have to because it seems the problems fall on my USB splitters.

This might be a daft question but are you sure you're plugging the right ends of the cable into the right places?

I have the same problem.
Perfect Y cable used OK with other phones.
3 SDCARD +2 U DRIVE.
STILL STUCK AT THE "ENTER USB HOST MODE"
maybe it's the phone's problem.

Upgrading SX66 to WM 6

Hi, I need your help. I read some of the XDA tutorial and I don't understand it.
Can someone guide me, step by step, how to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 from 2003? I don't want to mess anything up, and currently have none of the files.
read wiki there is a upgrade wizard which will guide you

"I read some of the XDA tutorial and I don't understand it."
On it it says...
"If you plan to easily revert back to WM2003 or you don't want those extra MBs (Mega Bytes) on your BA, skip the next steps."
Also it says
"In WM5 and WM6 you are not using your RAM as storage for programs or documents anymore. Instead of RAM you are using Storage - because as we said before, no data is lost when your battery runs out.
Because of this, it's a good idea to merge your ExtROM with Storage to one "BIG Storage". (You will not install anything from ExtROM. You're not using non-persistent memory for storing programs anymore. Instead of ExtROM you can use SD or MMC card (Memory card), or install the hotfixes once after the flashing)"
Is there a way I can keep 2003, and also WM6? Or can I only have one in my phone? Do I do those steps? Do I skip them?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade1_WM2003SE0
I just need someone to guide me step by step, where I can ask questions, etc.
I also need tips, and information.
Do as xplode said. Follow the Wizard.
As per your question, [highlight]do not skip steps!!!![/highlight] All instructions are there for a reason!
And finally, you cannot have a dual boot on the Blue Angel. You can have either 2003 or WM6, but not both at the same time. You can always flash back and forth...
If you have questions, please search before you ask. And then, if the answer is not found, then ask someone.
I'm kind of stuck now... Not sure if I'm in bootloader mode or not, and when I run "MaUpgradeUt" it says "ERROR 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR"
...What do I do now?
if you are in botloader mode on your screen thould be Serial or USB (when connected to pc) if you want i can guide you over skype or msn or icq
I would love if if you could.

Me too I did not understand the wiki when I used to be a newbie here, but I kept on reading it until my brain hurts, but what do you know I got it after reading the whole wiki for 3x.
On it it says...

It simply means that if you are OK with the default settings/partition of the internal storage/memory of you BA then skip the next steps which I dont recommend!!!
Also it says
"In WM5 and WM6 you are not using your RAM as storage for programs or documents anymore. Instead of RAM you are using Storage - because as we said before, no data is lost when your battery runs out.

In WM2003SE BA use RAM as a storage medium hence if the BA resets itself in anyway you lost everything in it, unlike in WM5 and WM6 onwards we use SD CARDS as storage medium hence even if we SR (Soft Reset) or HR (Hard Reset) our BA nothing will be erase on the SD card, so those pics of naked girls, those asian scandals on your SD Card won't be erase..lol
Because of this, it's a good idea to merge your ExtROM with Storage to one "BIG Storage". (You will not install anything from ExtROM. Yes there is a way you can keep your WM2003se stock ROM...you can use ROM DUMPER..BUT...I don't recommend that because...sorry to say...if you are having a hard time upgrading you BA even if WIKI is there then you'll get a very hard time with ROM DUMPER .
You can only have one OS INSTALLED at a time on a PPC. I emphasized INSTALLED because you can have android copied on you SD even if you have one OS INSTALLED on your BA...does is sound clear? Hehehe
NOW....
Before you upgrade your BA keep this is mind...it's a warning...a WARNING so you will not sue xda-dev or any BA ROM cooker if something BAD happens to your BA. But don't worry 1 out of 1000 BA owners brick their BA while upgrading. Because they upgrade their BA with 10% battery life. Where did I get the 1 out of 1000 statistics? Just a guess..a wild guess but it's near to reality
WARNING
IF YOU PROCEED, YOU MAY TOAST YOUR PHONE. THERE'S NO COMEBACK. THERE'S NO GETTING ROUND THIS. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST OTHERWISE YOU'LL PROBABLY BREAK YOUR PHONE PERMANENTLY. THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? DO YOu? ANSWER ME YOU...lol

- Download unlocker.cab DOWNLOAD HERE
- Download Repart_Doc.exe DOWNLOAD HERE
- Place both of them somewhere on your Pocket PC. For example in \temp but anywhere is fine. All the command below are to be executed on your Pocket PC, not on your PC.
- Install xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB by tapping on it in filemanger (from the directory where you put it earlier)
- Then go to start -> Programs -> ExtROM tools -> then first run "unhide", then "Unlock".
- Do a soft reset. (you know how to do a SR, right?)
- Once your Pocket PC is restarted, locate the Repart_DOC.exe file with your filemanager and start it.
- Set the size of Extended ROM to 128 kb (which is already the default).
- Press "Format now!" and wait until it is done (A few seconds). You will see a message that it is done. (You will get an error message about your storage, just press yes and wait a few seconds.)
- Soft reset your Pocket PC.
NOW YOU ARE DONE WITH THE FIRST PART AND I HOPE I AM MAKING IT EASY FOR YOU AND FOR EVERYONE.
Now, I RECOMMEND you to use Windows XP and of course Active Sync 4.5.
1. Download the BA ROM that you desired. It can be WM6, WM6.1 or WM6.5 and you can find all the download links of this ROMs on our BA wiki (and I am the one who updated that and put those links.)
2. Save that ROM on your computer. (anywhere will do) If it is zipped or rar, then unzip it or unrar it.
Here are the files that should be inside that ROM folder (well this are the files that I have every time I flash my BA, just correct me guys if some of this are not really needed):
EnterBL.exe
GetDeviceData.exe
HTCRUU.dll
RUU.dll
BaUpgradeUt.exe
MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
HTCRUU.conf
RUU.conf
vbscript.dll
nk.nbf
SetOperator.bat
3. Temporarily remove your SD Card (it may work for you with the SD card still in your BA, but you may not be able to enter USB mode when cradled).
Just remove your SD Card from you BA and the SIM card too just to make sure.
4. Put your device into Bootloader mode by pressing and holding the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button. Ooops before I forgot make sure you do a Hard Reset on your BA first.
Press and hold the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button until “Serial” shows on screen.
(Some BlueAngel shows "Serial" at the top and "V2.07" at the bottom.)
NOTE: The screen will not be backlit, so it may appear the phone is not in bootloader mode.
Look carefully.
When the USB sync cable is inserted into the phone and the computer, "Serial" will change to "USB", provided that the phone detects the connection.

5. Connect the phone to the sync cable/cradle.
7. Now you can execute the installer file. (BaUpgradeUt.exe or MaUpgradeUt.exe) You will see this window:
8. When the upgrade is completed, you must perform a Hard Reset.
When the bootscreen, aka. the colored stripes is displayed, wait more, you are booting. The welcome screen to set up your device will appear shortly ...
Put back your SD Card and you SIM card.
And there you go...I hope this makes upgrading easy for you and for everyone else. Did I missed something guys? Let me know.
WOW this is the longest post I've ever had since I started here...hehehe...just killing some TIME.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But is awsome men! really good work this is really a clean explanaition an dmaybe a refreshed how to upgrade....! truly!

0. Make sure x1 is hard-spl first
1. Make sure your micro-sd is formatted w/ fat-32
2. rename the image file (normally "ruu_signed.nbh") to Kovsimg.nbh, copy that to the micro-sd, and put that it your X1,
onto the storage card root
3. Make sure X1 is disconnect to your PC to avoid goes to serial mode (AC power source is OK)
4. Bring x1 to boot-loader mode by turning off the x1 completely. Hold the "volume down" button on the right,
and hold the power on button until you see the tri-color screen.
5. Then follow the on-screen instruction
THEN IT SAY TO UPGRADE TO POWER BUTTON, I PRESS THEN PROGRESS
BAR COME IN SCREEN. THEN FULL UPGRADE SET LIKE RESTART....
BUT NOW ON WHITE LIGHT COME THIS WORD (LOADING.....)
TILL HERE I DO SUCESSFUL BUT NOW SET HANG ON (LOADING...)
I LEAVE 3 HOUR BUT SAME.
SO I REMOVE BATTERY AND PUT AGAIN AND POWER ON
COME ON SCREEN
TRICOLOUR & THERE IS SOME THING LIKE THIS:
CONTINITY UPGRADING ROM, PLEASE WAIT, THEN GO LOADING......
HOW TO REVIVE IT????
NEED HELP SIR.
Do you have a card reader?
If so, plug into PC and check if the ROM is indeed on the card and correctly named.
Device needs a full charge, this is imperative.
It is not a good idea to interrupt a ROM flash.
Report back with answers and I'll try to get you back up and running.

Hello!
Try this, then flashing again:ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/TOOLs/X1_HardSPL_Utility.zip
Your spl is:spl-0.72.OliNex? If it is not the spl-0.72.OliNex version (check it on the tricolour boot screen ) will not succeed then the flashing.
HARD-SPL XPERIA X1 INSTRUCTIONS
Flashing Olinex Hard-SPL will not hard-reset your device
Nothing will be changed (except the SPL)
But it is recommended to backup your info first, just in case
1- Charge phone at least 50% (90-100% recommended)
2- Sync device, be sure activesync finishes syncing
3- Run "X1_HardSPL.exe
"
4
- Follow the on-screen instructions
WHAT YOU WILL SEE:
When "Loading..." bar shows in PC, check device screen
Phone goes into "bootloader mode" (tricolour screen)
Hard-SPL flashes automatically and device reboots
Done
TO CONFIRM A SUCCESSFUL HARD-SPL:
Go into bootloader mode (hold vol down key and press power)
Verify in the tricolour screen: "0.72.OliNex
"

DO NOT sync with PC until flash is complete.

i confused? how long will take??
not 100% as I'm very much an amateur at this , but that kovsimg file is WAY too small. What are you trying to flash on it??
If a full rom, the size will be in tens or probably a hundred and more MBs.
And a successful flash has taken me about 10 minutes in the past, but I've only done it twice.
the "kovsimg.nbh" is incomplete, it should be a lot bigger like the above poster has said, at least 70mb.
Im not sure if having a capital K has any affect.
Where did you get your rom from?
Sorry, im not familiar where the "Loading..." comes from.. is that before or after where you press the Power Button to start flashing the kovsimg?
Edit: nvm, loading is just before kovsimg.nbh is found. You will need to download the rom properly. Check the file size and make sure its big as in 100-200mb, and place it in the root of the storage card with the name "kovsimg.nbh" lower case.
That is correct.
The file you are showing is most likely the Hard_spl file which is about that size.
A full Rom runs from 130MB to 220MB depending on contents.

"Loading" is normal. It will move from 1% to 100% as the ROM is flashed.
Yeah. I just went to the bootloader to check it out again.. normally i just spam the power button till it starts flashing.. hence i dont remember such a text
But ya.. it shows up just before it confirms the location of a proper kovsimg.. but i thought it would say "invalid image file" which happened to me once.. not get stuck in "Loading.."
I usually flash my phone once every week or two.. new releases of cooked roms are just that great ;D

i search rom's but all rapidshare link,it's need premiur account.i don't have that. thatsway i need free (without account)
link.
There's a fine selection of roms on this forums.. worth checking out to see which one is for you, each has its features and specialties.
The question is.. do you want WindowsMobile 6.1 or 6.5? Want TouchFlo3D? 2.1 ("TR", faster, stable, less ram and battery usage) or 2.5? ("Leo", experimental, slightly sluggish and drains more battery than TR, but nicer looking and better "Home" screen); you can skip TF3D and opt for SBP Shell tooo...
My favorite is agent_47's Valkyrie Firestorm (Rhodium\TOPAZ) @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512050
But be careful when installing your own applications as it may conflict with the rom and causes it unstable ._. if you want a lot apps you want to install, you may want to not use TF3D (you can use the rom but you can disable TF3D in home settings, which is normally defaulted to "Titanium (WinMo6.5)" home screen )
Edit: You can download from Rapidshare for free when you click the "free user" button which should be next to the "premium user" button and wait around 30-50 seconds before it allows you to download; you don't need a premium account ^_^

Well, I'd say go for Agent_47's Valkyrie Firestorm (Rhod/Topz) version 5.0.28005, download it from his FTP.. I downloaded from that on a 56k dialup speed (capped internet.. bloody Australia) which took 6 hours and it came out perfect
Check out his thread @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512050; sorry i cant hotlink people's stuff.. so you'd have to visit their thread
If you have time to play around a few roms to test with, i'd recommend MrRusch & WildChild - Untamed @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=568918
Also, check the other cooks' work too

thank you bro help me.
at last i want to know this files also flashing via sd card?
any others file also keep in sd card??
please add me to your massanger
id is : [email protected]
thank you.
You can flash any kovsimg straight from a SD card, just make sure it's named correctly and it's placed in the root. You can have other files/folders on the SD card as well, it wont affect it, so no need deleting everything before flashing. The only file that will be used in the flashing of the device is whatever's named kovsimg.nbh (sp?) and nothing else.
One advice after flashing is.. hard reset the device straight after. Hardreset as in pressing and holding the two silver softkeys then press and release the power button, follow the instruction (press R and then Spacebar on the hardware keyboard). You can only hardreset when the device is off first.
Hard Resetting will get rid of a lot of problems which didn't occur for other people until the applications you install on top conflicts with the system (mostly with TF3D)

How to root any htc incredible phone with any SD Card. Please download new Drivers!!!

Alright I have been reading and trying to root this device for days with no avail, now let me tell you what i did. Before I turned off the phone, you have to literally turn off every wireless connection anything that you connected to at all. Dont turn on air plane mode, just turn off every connection you can. Then What I did was click in the sd card after doing the adb reboot recovery. This worked like a charm. I also edited the drivers of the usb driver file called winusb.inf located at c:\sdk\usb_driver
if you dont have that folder that means you have not installed the usb driver which you can do by opening setup.exe clicking on usb drivers install.
you have to edit the file by including the lines under google nt 86 at end of section
;HTC Incredible
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9E
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9E&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C94
also then put the exact same lines under [Google.NTamd64] at end of section.
Next your going to want to save the file. Then go under device manager, update the drivers that you already have with that file located at c:\sdk\usb_drivers.
Restart if it says you have to.
Then next step use the windows application
hxxp://incredible.groove2.net/IncredibleRooter.zip
mdawg made This. extract put file in location under "c:\sdk\tools".
Then boot into recovery mode.
run loop.bat and begin clicking in and out of the sd card until it changes the error from device not found to that great error. then exit out of loop.bat with ctrl+c. and finish with the application by pushing files and updating zip. This is the hardest card to do. But it worked very first time after i tried updating drivers! I got wireless Tether working and sending this from there .
I used windows xp sp3
This method will work with any windows machine.
New!!! Load USB drivers from http://tether.com/a/setup.exe
Make sure you update your drivers in Device Manager and restart if needed. These are same drivers I used first time, I just forgot that I downloaded tether before hand.

This doesn't help if you cant get the phone into the adb recovery status...
This will help you get the phone into recovery status
Please read and try directions instead of thumbing your nose at me. I have put a lot of time into this and im trying to help. I would like to know if my instructions have helped people so we can try and figure out what exactly it is that helps the device. This helped mine and is considered one of the hardest cards to get working. But please at least try this before I get responses like "this wont help". Your not going to ever get rooted with that attitude.
Re: How to root any htc incredible phone with any SD Card. Full proof instructions!
Thanks for the tips, but I think you need to be more careful about using definite statements like 'any card' and 'any PC'. We know from the unRevoked guys that radios and cards play a role, so you're right there.

I believe that SD card does not matter
Let me tell you, The Unrevoked team is a great team. i give them all credit for actually rooting the device. There is still some bugs, im trying to fix those bugs, and provide help how to do that. And I do believe any card can be done on any pc. If your experiencing problems, i might be able to help. Recovery status is easy to achieve if you follow directions. They are wrong about SD cards playing a role though, this is a misguided conception. As my card is one of the hardest cards to get working and practically no one has it.

I've already tried this exact method of getting into adb recovery for like past 2 days, my phone just will not co-operate with me.
The root method with the program is awesome, I told mDawg this in TRC the other night... All i'm saying is it doesn't help people who cant get into adb recovery.
I have all the correct drivers installed, because i can use adb shell and android screen monitor to take screen shots fine when the phone is on.
But my phone will not go into adb recovery no matter what i try, I have tried using 2 different sd cards, 8GB Kingston Class 4 and the 2GB that came with the phone, tried formating in FAT, FAT32, and even filling the cards up with junk.
I'm not shutting you down in anyway, trust me, I would love for this to work for me, but It will not let me into adb recovery no matter what i try, I'm on windows Vista Home 32 and just not having any luck, so you saying this will work every time with any card just isn't true.
Anyways, i hope this does help people.
Sorry to post on both forums, but I'm registered on both just like you, so just put it on both.
No disregards at all honest.

Permissions? Writing to SD shouldn't require elevated permissions. Anyhow, set up two partitions on the SDcard: ext4 (or another linux partition, shouldn't matter--try something crazy like XFS or reiserFS , followed by a FAT32 partition. I believe the linux partition should give you the 5s race window you're looking for, then you'll have a mounted FAT32 to put the decoy update.zip which recovery will read from when payload is pushed.
What OS are you using to make ext4? PM me if you have more questions, or my gtalk is rynosaur74. Anyone who has questions can contact me: I was a 5-day headache person until yesterday
FYI Sorry to say it is NOT that easy for me. My sdcards will only work if I leave them out until after I start recovery and insert at the sound. I have tried you method and I don't think I'd call if "Full Proof". I know I have the correct driver and the updated lines in the .inf file, because I have rooted my phone. Unfortunatly, I have to use the card insert method, which is a little tricky.
Nice try but I gotta tell you, I think your title is a little misleading.

Ok so how do a move my nandroid backup off my phone?

Just unlocked and rooted my phone a few days ago and I made a nadroid backup with TWRP. Of course, that has taken up most of my storage and defeats the logic of having a backup somewhere other than the device being backed up.
It's been a few years since I last had a phone I could root. My last one could be mounted as a USB drive and any files easily taken off the phone. I could push it up to dropbox but even on a wifi connection with cable broadband that will take half a day.(the backup is like 5gb)
Is there an app I can use to push the file via the USB or even wifi to my PC?

Easy. Connect to PC via USB. Go to the TWRP folder, drag off the backup inside.
You do know how to connect to PC via USB cable, right? All your folders will show up like a flash drive. Look for TWRP.
How big is your backup? Something is wrong if it takes up most of your storage. I keep one or two backups on my phone all the time. Usually just one, as that's all I really need. I make a backup almost daily. In TWRP settings, you can choose level of compression. More compression will make smaller size.

You made the backup with TWRP, right?
What version of TWRP are you on?
in the PC view, you will see all your folders. Inside TWRP will be the backup file.
No, the droid turbo doesn't support USB mode. It only supports MTP or PTP modes. If you going to be condescending at least know the product.

I know the product so it's not being condescending. If have TWRP installed you should see the folder.
If that's a limit of Verizon stock ROM, then that's your fault.
You're saying Verizon stock ROM doesn't allow you to see the contents of your phone like a flash drive? That's a universal Android feature, so it's puzzling you can't see the folder.
Again, one step at a time... What version of TWRP are you on? Answer the question.
My backup is in /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS

That should work. but go ahead and update to 3.0.
the reason I was asking is because a year ago there was an unofficial version of TWRP for Quark that worked with 4.4.4 but not Lollipop to see files on the PC. But 2.87 is official and works. Still go ahead and flash 3.0.
Now, when you connect to PC do you see the autoplay dialog pop up?

And if you see that, do you then see all the folders?
Inside that folder then is a "Backups" subfolder with the backup file.
Nope, that folder is empty. It is empty on my phone too. It isn't the same folder as /data/media/0/TWRP That folder is at /sdcard/TWRP
I'll redo the backup and plant the files there and see if they show up. But MTP doesn't show all files even in the folders that do show up.
IF you are not getting the auto play pop up dialog, then it means the proper Motorola drivers are not installed on your PC.

Forget folder /data/media/0/TWRP
That has nothing to to do with seeing the folders on your PC as a flash drive.
Look at my screenshot above. You do not see any 0/data crap. It says "internal storage".
______
Are you getting the auto play pop up dialog? Do you have the proper Motorola drivers installed on your PC?
When you plug in the phone to your PC and it turns into a thumb drive, jump drive, flash drive, you will see all the media folders.
You shouldn't have to "plant" the backup anywhere.
I've added more screenshots above. But it will help if you answer the questions... do you see the auto play pop up dialog when you plug in the phone?
When I plug in my phone, in "My Computer", I see the phone model and beside it is a description "Portable Media Player". This means it's acting as a flash drive. What does yours say in the My Computer description?

Yep. MTP only shows the SDCARD directory on any phone. For a Droid Turbo, even with custom roms, that directory is emulated as there is no SDCARD on that phone.
The stock rom doesn't support USB mode. Phones that support that mode have that option in the USB connection menu. Your recovery program will not make any change on that. They are two separate OS environments.
Yes I have Moto drivers installed. Yes I get the popup(when I turn that feature on in Windows. I hate it so it is off on my machine by default) And yes I can see a TWRP directory but it isn't the same. Using root explorer, I can see TWO such directories and in two different locations. Again MTP mode only shows you the SDCARD directory of any phone. You can't get to the true /. So I can't see the /data directory and thus can't get to the default location TWRP put my files. Like I said when I get a spare moment I will move that location to the "sdcard" and try again. Thanks anyway talking to you let me work out what was going on so you have been a help.

Accessing from TWRP instead of the normal phone allowed the hidden root files to be seen. It still only provides MTP access to the emulated SDCARD but that is enough to get the job done.. TWRP is root level and the normal file sharing isn't so I'm guessing that is the issue. A custom ROM probably gives full root access even from the phone.

I to discovered the lack of access to the TWRP files in regular viewing when connecting the phone to PC. My solution was to move the file to 0/emulated using a file Explorer on the phone. Doing it from within TWRP, connected to PC is good to know.

Galaxy Note 4 N910T FIXED HARD BRICKED

Hi, i know that this is not the developer's side of the forum, but since i haven't posted a lot, i'm unable to create it over there, but, i have good news for you guys who have a NOTE 4 N910T (T-MOBILE)
THIS PROCESS WORKS WITH THE 32GB DEVICE, NOT SURE IF THE 16GB WORKS WITH IT, BUT ITS PRETTY LIKELY IT DOES, SINCE YOUR PHONE IS HARD BRICK, WHY DON'T YOU TRY IT ANYWAY? LET ME KNOW SO I CAN REMOVE THIS WARNING
If your phone doesn't turn on whatsoever, but your pc recognizes it under device manager like " QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLOADER 9008 " then this is for you!
->If by any change your device manager recognizes your device as " RELINK HS-USB QDLOADER 9008 " then you'll have to uninstall every driver/software related to samsung, uninstall the port/driver from device manager as well, (not necessary but recommended to restart pc) connect device to pc, and it should automatically install the drivers and will show you QUALCOMM instead of RELINK (worked for me).
[ For those of you who know how to play around with QPST's QFIL or eMMC Software Download, the RELINK - > QUALCOMM process should help you play with your phone since QFIL and eMMC Software Download do not talk well to the RELINK connection, i tried playing around with them (but i'm a newbie with QPST) but no luck what so ever, needed some files (.HEX, .MBN) i was not able to find anywhere on the net, i also needed the SAHARA file, which was not able to find either ]
so getting back to track...
we will need 5 things to actually get to the download mode on your NOTE 4
1. Your bricked N910T
2. Windows Computer
3. MICRO SD CARD (at least 1gb)
4. unbrick file " Unbrick_IMG.img " ( https://mega.nz/#!Io8UgJoA ) decryption key: !qZBjc2ELzHGkUoDCfoCihat1iUh648UZwZb55Kc1k2o
4.1 secondary unbrick file ( https://mega.nz/#!Occ0hbxT!WaScVzQ2CPb9GxUD2Kqy2GKwm8jv1Z7YSbxwE_SpEzA ) thanks to [Trex888]
5. software to install unbrick file to sd card " Win32DiskImager " ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2598667&d=1393277797 ) [ not really sure how to know who uploaded the file, but if you know, let me know so we can THANK him ]
PROCESS:
DOWNLOAD Unbrick_IMG.img and Win32DiskImager
1 -> insert the SD card to your computer, can be with a USB/SD CARD, you will need to format that micro SD card, so save the files on the computer.
2 -> open Win32DiskImager and open the Unbrick_IMG.img file by clicking the blue folder icon
3 -> select the micro SD card drive under " Device "
4 -> click write (wait for it to finish)
5 -> eject the micro SD card
6 -> insert micro SD card to N910T
7 -> insert battery to N910T (sometimes the phone will boot by itself) if it doesn't follow step 8
8 -> press the power button for around 5 seconds
9 -> phone will boot to Download Mode
10 -> Enjoy playing with ODIN.
****** IF BY ANY CHANCE YOUR COMPUTER DOESN'T RECOGNIZE YOUR DEVICE, TRY INSTALLING/REINSTALLING THE QUALCOMM DRIVERS AND THEN FOLLOW THE STEPS ON THIS GUIDE******
-> QUALCOMM DRIVERS ( https://mega.nz/#!4lNliRYJ ) decryption key: !3blyZgKugEcdztDfyCjz_jrg_l4nO2UjUIckEFhMRks
-> N910T 32GB PIT FILE ( https://mega.nz/#!N50jBCZC ) decyrption key: !g90GTHFkBy-um8e1BQQWith5-LIz4PoJJ4xX4H7s7JM
*Have been reported that this process works once on some phones, and then you need to wait a couple of mins/hours for it to work again, i don't know what the cause is, so make sure you actually use ODIN properly at the first try or you might need to wait a couple of hours till the next try.
**primary unbrick image goes to download mode while the secondary unbrick file goes straight to the android OS that was previously installed prior to the hard brick**
I tried this just now and I get nothing the first try... I'm waiting to try again and hopefully get lucky one of these times :-\
did you by chance follow the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/general/help-test-unbrick-method-note-4-t3379897 ?
I am hoping to revive my poor precious...

nope, i actually search all over the net for the past couple of weeks, which unbrick file did you use? does your pc recognizes your device?
this process actually worked for me on my N910T, i'm actually using it as my primary device right now.

It recognizes the device as the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008... It didn't initially before I came across your thread, it gave me device not recognized. Then I plugged it into the computer without the battery in and it came up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008...
Now of I put the micro SD card in that I created per your instructions, it won't show when plugged into the computer, but if I take it out, it'll register again as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. So it seems the card is registering something. I put my regular micro sd card that I usually have in the phone, in, and it still registers on the computer, which leads me to believe that your method is doing something, I'm guessing maybe it's just not getting enough power or something.
I have an extra battery and external charger so I know both batteries are topped off and fully charged.
Not sure what direction go next. I'm frustrated because I wasn't even messing with it at the time it died.

you need to format your SD card first, then do the steps on the guide,
you will need to remove your phone from the computer
the battery should be removed when you insert the microSD card
wait 10 seconds after you insert the microSD and insert the battery
press the power button for 5-7 seconds, if by any chance it vibrates only, then that means that the sd card and files on it are working properly, but same with mine, you'll need to wait a couple of mins/hours for you to try again (if this is the case, remove the battery from the phone and leave it like that for the next 2-4 hours and then try again), if by any chance it vibrates and then it shows you a couple of text messages, that means that its trying to load the OS, but if it doesn't load in the next min, then remove battery, wait a min and then try again)
***YOU DO NOT NEED TO PRESS VOLUME- POWER VOLUME + COMBINATION
you need to try one unbrick IMG at a time, if one doesn't work, format the microSD and try again with the other one, i will recommend you to use the secondary unbrick.img file first, since you said you were not messing with it when it bricked, the OS should be intact and therefore the secondary will load the necessary files for your device to turn on normally, the secondary unbrick usually loads the android OS, while the first unbrick_img.img file loads the Download Mode.
Would this happen to work on a N910P?
Lurker here, been trying to get my hard bricked Note 4 T-Mobile to come back on all day, I am sure it is the 32GB version and the the Secondary unBrick WORKED for me!
Thanks guys, I had tried the USB Jig and that didn't work, I had also tried the first unBRICK image but that didn't work either.
The secondary unBRICK needed me to turn it on with the power button, just thought to mention that it was that and not an instant on just in case someone wondered.
The Micro SD used was a SanDisk Ultra (MicroSD XC) for those also wondering.
Finally I did need to install the Qualcomm Drivers and restart my PC, before I did that, the phone without battery came up as unrecognized.
I thank you for the forum topic, I too have been searching the internet for hours due to my phone not turning on, in the hours of search I (knowing nothing about phones) Figured it was bricked, and through countless topics i skimmed until i stumbled upon this thread.
A few days ago my phone N910T started freezing and rebooting (Battery Drained FAST), I attempted to do a Factory reset to see if the issue would be fixed, it wasn't (I ordered a new battery); after another day of using the freezing, rebooting phone, while on the charger it stopped responding, and trying all methods of battery removal, button pushing, gently tapping (they say the power button gets stuck) nothing helped.
Basically I download the 2nd (Debrick) img and wrote it to a SD card (Win32DiskImager) following the steps, Inserted it into my phone hit the power button and it Booted up like normal (i didn't have a sim card in and eventually restarted it) It downloaded some files from the SD card, and seems to be working again. I did try, and Succeed in starting DL mode, but i didn't flash it or anything because honestly I don't know what I'm doing; Also I removed the SD card after the phone booted up;
I thank you for the Post again!
Well Tmo Released an update and I thought i'd take the chance. After watching the Installation get to 100% and the Tmo Logo Flashes saying Update Successful, phone shuts off and i have to pull battery to soft reset to start it again (recovery booting in blue top left) and then it does the update again and repeats the cycle.... :\

I used a 32gb SD card, I think 16gb card should work but I don't know;
After writing the Img, I just put the card and battery in the phone and press power button only; my Data (Pictures, Contacts, Apps, etc) was like it was before the brick; I did not do any resets, flashes, or roots;
*** TRY to Start Normal first, or you might end up having to reset your phone and lose your data
*I do suggest after backing up your phone and doing a factory reset, or flash it with stock firmware;
I'm also new to this so if you know what you are doing great, if not please check with some one with a little bit more experience;
Best of Luck
