Every time I flash my phone to CM7 or CM9 I cannot call numbers including the area code. It just ends right away. I have to call without the area code. All my contacts have 1-area code because that's the only way i can send text messages. It doesn't work without the area codes. So I end up re-flashing to stock roms.
Is there a way to use area codes when calling numbers using the CM roms.

This is one thing I liked in my old Sprint phone. When I get an incoming call (or make an outgoing call), the phone would show the state, and sometimes the city, of the area code. Like it would say 'Texas' for 214. This occurs regardless of whether the number is stored in the phonebook or not.
My question is, is there an app, or can a feature like this be implemented? Any assistance on implementation will be appreciated.
I believe that I have seen an application like this on the Market, but I couldn't tell you the name right now since my Nexus is getting it's power button replaced.
I'll comment back if I can find it again once I get my phone back...
Hi All,
I recently switched from Blackberry to an unlocked Bell Mobility Vibrant on Sasktel. I'm having issues with dialing long distance numbers which require the added "1" to the number.
I store all my contacts in the usual Outlook format eg. (306) 555-1212. My blackberry would automatically add the 1 prefix when dialing these numbers, but I can't for the life of me find out how to do this on my Android. It always dials the number as it's stored in the contact and I get a "you have dialed a number to which long distance charges apply" message.
If I change a contact to include the 1 then it dials fine, but I don't want to have to change them to a "non-standard format" by manually including the 1.
I have the Doc's 7.5 Froyo ROM on my phone and I can't remember if it worked prior to that (I only had it for a day or so). I wonder if it has to do with the ROM not having North America localization built-in?
So, I guess a couple of things:
1) Does anyone with the stock 2.1 bell ROM have these issues
2) Anyone else with the 2.2 Froyo ROM having these issues?
3) Is there a better way to make this work other than adding 1 to every contact?
Thanks!!
So you don't want to know wheter you are dialing long distance or not?

Well, I do know if I'm dialing LD or not. Sasktel requires 11 digits for LD calls. However, I'd like to keep all my contacts in the standard (306) 555-1234 format.
My blackberry would automatically prepend 1 to the numbers and I wouldn't have this issue, however my SGS does not. It always dials the number exactly as it is in the contacts resulting in an LD error message.

Every time I flash to any cyanomod (cm7 or cm9) and I dial area codes (+1-122-232-2222) the call just ends and doesn't go through but i receive calls with the area code showing. I also tried without the +1, with +0, 0 in the beginning, and just the area codes in the beginning.
Anyone know what is wrong?
sch-i800 Flashed to CM10 AOKP SGT7. Great ROM so far.
My only concern is that I cannot find Info about getting the voice calls to work. I do not want any third party app.
I want stock dialer and to be able to make calls.
As far as I can tell it's only been accomplished by flashing GB Euro ROMs (please correct me if wrong).
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.
I will be somewhat of a tester for this also.
==UPDATE== Alright well after a small framework-res edit i was able to enable voice and have stock dialer. Downside when i dial out i hear nothing and after about 3 secs it shuts down the call. No FC's, no voice calls not supported, just closes what's trying to dial. Goes back to dial pad just like i ended it. Any idea's?

I would sure love to know if this was ever done.. we curently have over 30 of these little buggers in the field and also provide each user with a phone.. talk about cutting our bill in half.
Anyone have any updates on this matter?
Verizon blocks the tabs from being phones two ways. 1. By disabling the devices software. 2. By limiting upload speeds. I tried to find a solution for over a year. No luck.
Sent from the Galaxasaurous tabalonicus Rex
Very old thread but for those still "listening" apparently the solution is the modem.bin from a samsung fascinate which uses the same hardware but doesn't disable the phone.
Never found the modem.bin, I assume you use root explorer to replace it.
Do a lot of conference calls and have all numbers set dial access codes and pins using the (p) Pause. With LP they do not fully send when automated system repeats what was sent was never the full number. Example 8778741777,,,,1234567890#
The systems might just get 1234567 of the access code and this is for all company numbers I call.
Anyone have same experience?
Anyone have a fix?

What rom are you using? It works for me on stock and on slimlp, our systems use webex which i dial into and have to use codes and they work fine.
Was using LS and now on Chroma but happened to me on stock... What I did to slow it down was put a (p) after 3 numbers seems it was sending it too fast for that system to handle...so think its now a phone issue more so how the other end was getting to numbers.
Thx for the reply
Same issue for me, using Chroma ROM and the latest radio (MDM9625_104446.01.02.95R). Not only are pauses not recognized, generally dialing digits after connection does not work. Huge issue, might try reverting the radio.

I seem to have found a reliable way to correct this. Was playing around with VoLTE and found this to be a contributor. If you have VoLTE enabled in 5.1 ROM, that is under Settings>Wireless&networks>More>Cellular networks>Enhanced 4G LTE Mode. When I turn off this option, post connected call digit dialing seems pefect. Switching it back on goes right back to not able to recognize.
