Not booting (into anything) - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

My phones battery died over the weekend, I got it charged back up, the phone was acting real sluggish so I restarted it, came back a few hours later and noticed it was still on the white HTC screen, I watched it for a few minutes and noticed it would sit on this screen for about a minute, then go dark, then back to the HTC screen and we go round and round.
I tried hboot, all the options do this. Fastboot, recovery even factory restore all trigger this infinite loop...
What has happened? How can I fix this?
Note that it was a stock phone, no mods, no custom ROMs or anything else. It was OTA updated to ICS about a week ago, and has been fine since then.

So can you get to the bootloader and send fastboot commands?

Sorry I am not a modder or anything like that, do you mean select the "fastboot" option?
I tried running fastboot reboot from my PC while it was plugged in and my phone was in the hboot area, and it just says "waiting for device" and never does anything.
If I select "fastboot" from the hboot menu the phone restarts, a bar goes up the side of the HTC screen then about 30 or so seconds later it goes black and repeats process.

Ah, yes I can. I figured it out, plug into USB, select fastboot, then it goes to USB. I was able to reboot the phone.
EDIT: Tried running the update from HTC's website, took it about 5 - 10 minutes or so. It completed without issues, however the phone is still doing this infinite rebooting cycle...

You mean the RUU? And for ICS? That is supposed to be the ultimate method to unbrick and return to stock. Sounds like the OTA messed something up. When you say go dark you mean the screen goes of then it comes back to the HTC screen? This is probably obvious but have you tried a battery pull? Taking out aim card anything is worth a shot.

Yes the RUU update from HTC's website. The phone started this morning without issues. Then after a restart it starts the whole cycle over again.

Help! stuck at boot and touchscreen not working!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a launch day Nexus One running CM5.0.5.3, the OC/UV kernel, and the EPE54B radio.
It has all been running great until today. I took it out of my pocket and it was warm (not hot) to the touch. I noticed the screen was blank but the buttons along the bottom were illuminated. I tried resetting it (power+volume down+trackball) and that didn't do anything, so I pulled the battery. When I rebooted it, it seemed to take a longer than usual time at the initial boot screen, and then went to the animated screen. It stayed on the animated screen for quite a while and then froze. It's stuck on the X mid-formation.
I then booted into the bootloader (which reacts like normal) and went into recovery. I re-flashed CM5.0.5.3, no effect. I wiped cache and system and re-flashed. Nothing. I did it again, and it finally booted up but I could only select things with the scrollball. The volume rocker worked fine, but the touchscreen is completely non responsive.
If I let it sit at the boot screen for a while it will go black eventually and time out.
I'm at a loss. I'm in the process of downloading a stock ROM and am going to flash it next. Anyone have any suggestions? My bootloader is (obviously) unlocked, so I'm worried about warranty work
Update: Just got it to boot (with the stock ROM) and I've got a warning screen saying:
Sorry!
Process system is not
responding.
[Force close] [Wait]
Any ideas?
Reflash CM 5.0.5.3 and then post back
Ok, re-downloading now.
Just flash in recovery?
Flashed in recovery (after wiping)
The phone stays on the stationary initial boot screen (four bars) for about a minute and a half and then goes to the animated cyan X. It stays there booting for probably two minutes before stopping mid-animation. If you let it sit there for a while the screen will time-out, which you can bring back with the power button. Sometimes when you hit the volume rocker you can hear the beep beep but nothing shows on the screen.
What the hell is wrong with my phone?
After an obscenely long time I got it to boot up.
Touchscreen is not responding, trackball is not responding, I have a question mark on the battery indicator, and no service.
I can't unlock the screen because of the non-functioning touchscreen. Live wallpaper is running great, it makes the sound when USB debugging is connected, it just won't react to any input.
I can, however, establish an ADB connection. It shows up on the device list and a remount succeeded.
Would reflashing the radio be of any benefit?
Dang the touch screen is unresponsive? I'm not an expert, but i'll try to give you some ideas.
I had some trouble once and I used settings-privacy then erased everything from within the OS. Then I reported to the screen just before going into recover and hit clear storage. Then went into recovery and wiped everything that I could. After that, flash the Rom that you want.
I've done a full wipe to no avail.
I'd bite the bullet and call htc, don't mention that you have rooted, it may be a hardware thing.
Scaaaary!! But hey, it happens. I would also try wiping for EXT on the SD card if you have been using apps2sd.....May not hurt, mights well try everything.....
Wiped everything, reflashed radio, flashed to stock. Nothing. This is exactly what I was worried about when I unlocked it.
Oh, well.

Yeah, I'll do that tomorrow. I guess I'll flash everything back to shipping and hope they don't notice.

Many people have posted that they got a replacement even with an unlocked bootloader. One guy I heard said they charged him $55.
Either way, you can probably get a replacement.

[Q] Stuck in a boot loop, cannot access recovery

Alright I am stuck. I've spent three days searching all the forums I can find, trying everything I find, and none of it has worked.
I was running the Decrap ROM on my phone no problem up until the OTA update started coming through. It failed the couple of times it tried to install. Then the Revolt ROM 1.0 came out. Made a backup, and flashed that one over the Decrap ROM, no problems. Revolt 1.1 is released, I flashed back to stock, then flashed 1.1 over it. It was running fine for a few days, except for two FC on the phone. Then I got a call from my girlfriend, tried to answer it, and the phone FC but was still ringing. I tried opening the dialer to call back, and it kept force closing. I rebooted the phone, and my real problems started.
The phone now goes through this process...Vibrate > LG splash screen > blank screen > Vibrate > LG splash screen > blank > repeat.
The only way to make it stop is taking the battery out. Every time I plug it into the wall or computer (with or without a battery) the process starts automatically. I cannot get into any sort of recovery no matter how long I hold the volume and power keys. I tried taking the battery out, SIM card, and SD card. I plugged it into the wall with and without a battery, let it charge overnight, no luck. I tried the SDK method with fast boot but I cannot get my computer to recognize the device because it keeps trying to restart itself.
The only thing I have not tried is the LGNPST method because I read of problems people were having even after recovering their phone, and I figured that if the SDK method would not work because my computer did not recognize the device neither would this.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and pay for a replacement?
Thanks!

I have not had the exact problem you do, I can get the phone to charge. But I have also had repeated problems with not being able to boot my Revolution. This has happened consistently no matter which ROM I've used. I've factory reset and tried Decrap and Revolt both. I can reboot my phone fine, but if I ever turn it off overnight, I go back to a blank screen after boot in the morning.
It seems a number of non-root users have this problem. You might be able to go in for a replacement, see:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOGM__SQB6Y
I'm not sure if having a low battery contributes to the problem, but I do know that Clockwork works better with a full battery.
Have you tried plugging it in without the SIM and SD card?
Charging without Battery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211935&highlight=can't+boot+to+clockwork
Well, this morning, I ended up in exactly your positions, despite having a full battery.
I tried the suggestion of plugging the phone in without the battery and letting the bottom lights flash on and off about five times. Then I put the battery back in and it booted to the charger.
still can't get to Clockwork though, if you find a solution, please post.
Update: I ended up getting back to Clockwork. Can't say exactly what did it, but what seemed to work was:
1. Charging the battery fully overnight
2. Removing the battery and holding the power button down for 30 seconds
3. Leaving the battery out for some time, about an hour I guess
4. With the battery still removed, plugging the phone in and allowing the bottom lights to flash about 10 times
5. Replacing the battery, holding down the power button and volume down.
After a full day of not being able to get into Clockwork, I was able to get in and do a factory reset.
Returning Revolution to Verizon
FYI, I took my rooted, non bootable phone into a Verizon store, and they ordered a replacement. Didn't try anything special and they didn't ask about or look for rooting on the phone.
I am having a similar but not identical problem. After trying to downgrade with LGNPST, my phone just sits at the initial LG logo. Well, it comes up, then blinks and vibrates and then comes back. It will sit there forever. I have been unable to get the hard reset menu to come up.
The phone is detected under Windows, but it tries to install a new device driver "LGE CDMA USB MODEM" for which I do not have drivers for. It does not show up as a device in LGNPST.
Any ideas?

Try pulling battery, put battery back in, press and hold volume up, press and hold power button, hold both thru the lg screen. Hopefully it will boot into a download mode that is recognized in lgnpst.

Didn't seem to do anything different. Still prompting for those USB modem drivers.

You are downgrading correct? If so the drivers you downloaded from the downgrade instructions delete those. Go to LGs website download those drivers and then retry again. That's what I did yesterday when it wouldn't recognize my phone in the program. Let me know if it works.
I've Revolted have you?
When this happened to me I contacted Verizon about the issue. Apparently I was not the first person this had happened to. I found on a couple of other forums that non root users had the same problem. Sounds like it may be an issue with the phone in general.

[Q] HTC Velocity dead?

Hey guys, i've had a look around and i'm in a hurry as im heading to melbourne in an hour or so.
My phone went flat last night and now does nothing..
if i take the battery out for a few seconds sometimes the amber light comes on for about 3 seconds then goes off.
other times it will flash on/off for about 10 seconds then stop.
i cant get into anything, hboot, or even a white htc screen.
Also the weird part is the touch buttons down the bottom vibrate when i press them, however nothing happens?
so ive come to the conclusion of
1. screen is dead? (no liquid damage and no cracks)
2. bricked ( i used the stock ics rooted ruu)
3. battery is dead?
basically i need to work out if i can get it back to stock or what im to do?
maybe someone knows a shop in melb that can do warranty jobs (if warranty will work) any tips would be great right now as i have no phone!
Also how am i going to backup my stuff????
finally got into hboot and did a factory reset. will see what happens
factory reset didnt work so now im trying to get back into hboot
Get into HBOOT and try to RUU it.
Have you installed a custom recovery/ROM? If you have and can get to HBOOT, boot into recovery and reflash your ROM.
I got int hboot once but can't seem to do it again will try again when I get home hopefully I can I have installed the custom ics stock rom that's rooted
took into telstra and tested it there, with a new battery it worked, so now i have to wait a week for them to get a new battery for me. at least it wasnt the phone!!

[Q] Will not go past lock screen on any rom

I have a Spint HTC one that was recently rooted. I am familiar with rooting samsungs and was very interested in the HTC ONE. Long story short, every bit of data was erased from my phone thanks to a "tech", I waited 2 weeks to get an OTG USB cable so I could get a ROM onto my phone that way, Well yesterday I got the OMJ rom to work just fine, but playing with it I felt I wanted more, so I went in and downloaded ViperRom. Went through the steps, choosing what I do and do not want on my phone. Well I finally made it to the lockscreen, once I unlocked phone it went to white screen with green HTC logo. I went back into twrp, cleared EVERYTHING so I could just start fresh like I did with OMJ. Still the same out come. I tried beanstalk, pacman, stock with goodies 5.5 v2. I have tried loading 6 or 7 different roms ALL with the same problem, lock screen, unlock, white screen with green htc logo. Then it just reboots itself. What am I doing wrong???
So now I have found viperboys stock deodex rom, I usb otg that rom onto phone, rebooted system. Unlocked the phone and the activation screen popped up! As I was putting in my password for my wifi, the keyboard dissapeared. Would not come back up. I contined through the set up and when I got to the main screen it was blank except for the drop down bar. I pulled that down, was able to get into settings, and when i exited settings to the main page, everything was there, stock. Then almost instantly I got a pop up saying "process system has stopped responding" Wait or Ok. I waited, 10 seconds later phone reboots itself. It turned back on, went through the whole set up again and boom, process system has stopped working. This time I clicked ok, instantly rebooted...am I screwed?

Did you make a back up of your successful OMJ ROM? You need to get back to a successful running point and then RUU back to stock.

[Q] [HELP!]

I have a Verizon, stock, unrooted Moto X. Today while updating several apps in the Play Store my phone all of a sudden flashes a black screen, followed by a split second of the boot animation (one of the animated globe scenes) then went black. Pressing and holding the power button force resets my phone, which goes through the entire boot animation, then the Verizon logo, then an unresponsive black screen. I've done the 3-button reboot and then told it to reboot normally, but with the same result. Eventually after about 6 or more failed bootup attempts, it'll finally boot up all the way. I don't remember which app was in the process of updating when this happened, but it did happen twice today. I've got 8+ gigs of free space available on internal storage. Has anyone had this happen before? Any idea what could cause it or what I should do about it? I'm afraid it might keep happening more frequently or my phone might just up and die . Had it since November.

If a factory reset does not fix the issue, all I can suggest is find the thread "Return to Stock" and follow the instructions to flash the entire stock SBF for your carrier. This should fix any corrupted files, if present. Either option WILL erase everything, so backup anything you need first.
Good Luck
Maybe your battery stats are off? Were you low at the time? Sure sounds like the power just died?

Nope, phone had been off the charger only a few hours, still had 85% or so. I actually tried plugging the phone in while it was booting up to see if an extra jolt of juice would somehow help it to fully boot up... made no difference. After 6-8 failed boot attempts, it finally booted up and has been running fine since... although I have yet to try to manually reboot it.
Well, if it acts up anymore...I'd consider a full wipe and return to stock. Same android version you're on now of course.
Otherwise...probably a fluke. ?
