REVERSE TETHERING. :-) for Galaxy mini s5570 - Samsung Galaxy Mini

all this is the work of the following member.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3083768
i just posted this as MANY ANDROID USERS AREN'T AWARE OF THIS GREAT FEATURE...
Tethering is the ability to surf on your PC using the 3g of your phone
Reverse tethering is the opposite : surf on your phone using the ADSL of your PC.
This work only for rooted users..!!! it works for ACE , MINI , GIO , FIT
Download the ZIP file from the following link to your PC.
http://www.mediafire.com/?0cz0vxv4qu34uv5
Installation :
Unpack the zip file on your PC. This zip files contains the windows part, ADB and the android APK.
Before starting the tool :
Ensure you have debugging enabled on your phone :
Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging > Turn On
Ensure you have root access AND Super-user application installed.
Change the superuser settings (Menu -> Preferences -> Notifications part) :
Uncheck "Notifications" label to display "Do not show notification when an app is granted Su Permissions"
AndroidTool
The AndroidTool.exe is the windows part
The low level communication tool (ADB) is included in the zip file.
AndroidTool will try to find ADB in c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\adb.exe
If not found he will use the provided one.
The first time you use the program :
If you want to use another version of ADB, clik "config" and in the first tab enter the path to the ADB
Select the DNS server to use in the right list. On complex system, some dns can be detected.
Start reverse tethering
Just click “Connect”.
If it's the first time you use the program, This will install the latest android package and the dependencies (busybox and redsocks).
The SuperUser process may ask you to allow “Usb tunnel”
If the android process crash after receiving superuser rights, close the windows program and start again.
The android interface (first tab) will show connections forwarded to windows.

}
Others tabs are just for debugging (give information about system route tables and connections). Not yet finished.
Start your browser
Google chrome will complain that no connection is available. Don’t care. JUST KEEP REFRESHING. and it will finally work.
Firefox , opera and dolphin don’t have problem with that !!!
Other apps :
The system detect automatically ports like http (80), https (443) , Market (5228),UDP ports like DNS, ...
You don't need to add static ports in the windows program (config / ports).
So unless the application is not well written, it must work.
I suppose more than 95% of the applications which require GPRS/ WIFI will work.
the apps which are not working are
MARKET (u can surf the market but you cant download it..)
SKYPE.
please post any other application which is not working.

roofrider is saying that you just copy the original thread and pasted it here you even didint write this thread in your own words and it have been posted many times before, if i were the mod i would have closed it instead of moving
you even didnt know where to post thread, android development forum is only for devs to post a thread about their mod or rom
in my opinion this thread should be closed.

make sure u install the phone drivers provided by micromax and also u need to be rooted.. then try.
also this version seems to be 2.24, so its very old. So make sure to check the original thread quoted in OP and use that version since it has many improvements and fixes.

Thanks for sharing it here
Btw i am using cm7 rom.. as mentioned in the first post, cant download apps from market.. anyone knows how to resolve this issue? There is a method to resolve this for 4.x roms mentioned in the original thread..

Issue on One Click Root on my Captivate

Hi folks,
I rooted my Captivate using the One Click Root Guide from this site. When I click on SuperUser permission, I just see a black screen and a message saying "No apps in list".
Did I miss any step?
Here is a picture after I clicked on SuperUser permission icon.

Well, have any apps requested SuperUser permissions yet? The only apps that will be listed there are ones that you have granted SU permissions to.
Try running ROM Manager, approve SU permissions, then go back and it should be listed...
Oh, sorry, I'm a first time user.
What I really want to achieve is wireless tethering. I also want to do ssh. What should I do next? How do I install them?
What does ROM Manager do? I looked at my Apps and I couldn't find ROM Manager.
Thanks.
Rom manager is downloaded from them market. You can install roms directly from your phone with it. you need super user permission because when you flash clock work recovery in rom manager you will be prompted for super user permission to do so.

Ok. I looked for ROM Manager in Market and saw it. It was $4.99. Not bad at all.
I've got few more questions:
1. What do I need to be able to do free wireless tethering?
2. What applications do I need to download?
3. Do I need to change my phone's kernel to be able to do that?
4. Do I need to ROM Manager for this?
5. Where can I find a good HOWTO after phone has been rooted?
Thanks!
Oh, how do I know if the installation of SuperUser Permission was successful? It's because when I clicked the Log icon on top, it crashed.

Thanks for helping me. I wish the moderator can move my thread soon since I'm so embarrassed to post on the wrong subforum.
I've done some searching/reading in our forum and found that there are many ROMS to choose from. I am more confused now. hehehe. There are tons of different threads as well which confuses the new android users more including me.
By the way, I got the free ROM Manager installed. Which sub forum should I post the questions I posted earlier? I want to try free tethering this evening and other cool tricks.

all the SU app will do is let other apps access restricted parts of your phone.

[PROGRAM] AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5 *Beginners Start Here* Also for advanced users

Bay_wolf's AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5
If this program has helped you, please consider donating.
There is a new download link as the Multiupload one was broken so everyone should be able to download the file now.
Description: To help automate flashing custom ROMs onto the Samsung Vibrant.
MODS: Please do not move this to another section as this is for Android development and is installed on the users computer not the phone. Thanks!
Disclaimer: I'm distributing this program as-is and no guarantee that it will not hurt your phone. So, use at your own risk and don't blame me for bricking your phone. I am to not be held liable for any outcome of the use of this program.

Things to do/know before using this program:
When you select the PIT and PDA files, it should default to the installed location and if not then browse to where you installed AIO Vibrant Toolbox as the files are in there.
Have .net4 installed. Download Here.
Enable USB debugging mode- Go to settings> Applications> Development> And then check the box next to USB debugging.
Have the ROM of your desire downloaded to your hard drive (In the program, Select ROM means the custom ROM you downloaded.).
Know a little bit about flashing and ROMs.
And that's about it. Most of the instructions are given to you by the program and are not needed to be written out here. If you find any part confusing, please comment in this thread and I'll try to implement it in the next release and I'll tell you what it means as a temporary solution.
If you ever accidentally press the download mode button when you didn't mean to, just unplug your device and do a battery pull.
To perform a master clear using ODIN, after flashing the stock firmware back onto the device, leave the phone plugged into the computer and keep ODIN open. Just click Master Clear in ODIN. !This will wipe everything off of the built-in storage (besides the stock ROM and stock apps)!
Download
If there are any bugs PM me and I'll try to get them fixed.
Just in case anyone wanted them. Here are the drivers in a smaller and automated installer that I created. It's the same that's used in my program so if you have my program installed you don't need to worry about these. -32 bit -64bit
Donations are appreciated if you found this program helpful:

Very nice bro. Keep up the good work!!
Initial release 2.5? no 1.0?
thanks for the program!!! i'm just messing with you.
can't wait to try it out.
looks like a fantastic app... I do have one question. Does the app take into account lag-fixes, particularly voodoo? From what I could see it does not and a new guy could easily rely on the app for protection in these regards. If not an in app disclaimer might be a worthy addition.
Great app and it will come in very to a lot of people.

OLD BASEBAND?
If your phone uses the old baseband, you can flash the following zip after flashing the nightly to get everything working again. NOTE: you will need to reflash this zip every time you upgrade to the latest nightly!!

NO-APN PROBLEMS?
If you get GSM but no data, and you cannot save any APN settings, it means you have what I'm calling a 'funny SIM'. Certain mobile operators use SIMs which include an extra data storage area to be used for things like GSM Banking etc. CyanogenMod currently does not fully support these SIMs on the new baseband.
APN / FUNNY SIM FIX - Flashable ZIP (Includes the files above, you only need to flash this one)
Please thank werewolfo for generously donating an Italian funny SIM for me to test with!.

Change MAC [root]

Welcome.
I note at the outset that I am a new user forum XDA and a half years ago I started my adventure with android (android modding, improvement, etc) so please be understanding and patience. HTML is not well known and I do not know much about writing instructions or Toturial, so my work will look like a typical "written on quickly."
THIS METHOD IS WORKING ON GALAXY MINI 2 JENA STOCK SOFTWARE 100% !!
And more to the point ...
I decided to help many people solve the problem of connecting to the Internet via WiFi access point.
Guidance applies to only those who have an access point or router WiFi, which connects to only a desktop or laptop impossible to connect other devices by encrypting the MAC addresses.
So if we want to connect our android to the internet via WiFi, you will need access to ROOT and ROOT Explorer available in the market play.
The whole procedure is to change the MAC address handwritten.
Photos and instructions:
First of all TURN ON WIFI. Why? Because Nvmac.info the file appears only when wifi is turn on.

1.Install root explorer and add SuperUser permissions and then in root explorer show hidden files.
2.Mounted as r/w and serach data folder.
3.Search .nvmac.info
4.Click for a second on .nvmac.info and click Open in Text Editor.
5.Here edit the MAC address on which you are interested.
6.Click permissions and do r -- r -- r -- (read v group v others v).
7.If the MAC address of the previous kidnap please premissions previously set only write and then edit and click save, then turn off and turn on phone and then delete file .nvmac.bak.
Thats all. Good Luck.
This method does not compromise in any way to your device. You do not have to worry about brick your device or any damage it.
IF THE GUIDE WAS HELPFUL, PLEASE CLICK THANK YOU.
In case of any problem, please write in this post, I'll try to help everyone individually.
This guide is my property, and I ask you not to copy it to the other forums. Thanks in advance.
Did you test this ? It looks like it's completely changing the MAC of the device instead of faking it .
And even if it does work , what happens if 2 devices with the same MAC will try to enter the same network ?
Just to clarify for everyone what this is intended to do : if a router has MAC filtering on (allows only devices with specified MACs to connect to the network) , you would need to change your MAC and you could connect after that (ofc considering there's no WPA key and everything , it's just an example) . On Linux it would work by faking it with macchanger , but I have no idea if this is stable on Android and if it will damage the phone in any way , as it seems you are manually editing the actual MAC of the device and not faking it .
I don't recommend doing this unless you know what you are doing or unless we have proof that it works . zalukajonet please let us know if you tested it PERSONALLY on Galaxy Mini II and if it worked . Would be nice if this truly works . Thanks!

Change mac address manually works, and only in this way you can access the Internet if your provider blocks access MAC encryption.
Connect to the network can only one device, although both (PC and android) have the same MAC address. If you browse the internet you do not need a smartphone to the computer was connected to the network ofc either one or the other
Next time I'm going to add a video tutorial on how to do it.
It gives a guarantee that if you do as it is described, THIS METHOD IS WORKING METHOD AND WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR SMARTPHONE.
Yours sincerely.

In a short time i can add a link, for now I do not have time for this. If you have any questions about how to change the MAC address, just ask in that post.
edit: Add photos and in the coming days I will try to record a video tutorial.

If you look at /data, you'll find it in the 2nd file named: .mac.info. It has rw--- permissions so maybe this is the reason why MAC adress is changing every time you connect wifi.
PD: Nope, I've changed the permissions to the one's you have in your tutorial (r-r-r) and it gets changing every time I connect wifi.

[APP][WINDOWS][AA 3.0] Simple utility to patch and install Android Auto Apps

I made this easy app to install apps in Android Auto (any version, also 3.0)
This will work on Windows and it's very easy to run. Just one click.
Some anti-viruses software could flag this as a virus, but it's a false positive and totally safe to run.
Disclamier:
-If this is the first time running this software, please uninstall any previous version of the app you wanna install.
-This software WILL NOT install an app and make it compatible with Android Auto (if it's not). It will install an Android Auto-compatible app correctly if it does not show up in car. Please be sure that the app you are trying to install is indeed compatible with Android Auto.

Thank you for your program. I haven't tested it yet because my windows PC isn't available right now. I'll do so when I can.
I do want to make you aware of something you might not be aware of.
When I clicked your link, the link shortener site tried to force the download of an Android app. Then, either the file storage site or the link shortener in the background tried to force another Android app download on me. It wasn't until after all of this that your file started to download.
Luckily, I know enough not to blindly install things that just show up or tag along with stuff I want. Someone else might not. Who knows if those apps are even safe? The fact that their distribution model involves some sneaky tactics suggests that the apps not be trusted.

Well this is not exactly what this software does. I'll try to be more clear on the OP. Anyway are you aware that Here Maps is not compatible with Android Auto?
@Zival73 I think I've figured out your issue. I'm releasing a new version in a few moments

The main thing of this program goes around ADB. So I guess the answer you are searching for is yes.
If I use exact this command to sideload to AA, I am not successful and it crashes on start.

Did you actually read the instructions?
You have to place the my.apk file ON THE DESKTOP.
