Hello,
I noticed this problem today, at first I thought it was a Rom or App related (I even unloaded voodoo) so during testing I did a full reboot and had the phones rear speaker against my ear with it facing a mirror... As soon as the samsung boot logo came up (the first one) the rear speaker was active and it kept making this "hissing" sound. (like the sound you hear from large speakers when the power is on but there's no audio input.
The sound is very low and you can only notice it when the speaker is near your ear, now is this normal behavior ? does your sgs do this too? any solution?
during my search for a similar problem I found some thread on cyanogen saying it's samsung related and that it was fixed on later versions (Froyo and up) that doesn't seem to be the case for me...
my device is as follows:
SGS I9000
Rom Darky 9.5 froyo 2.2.1
Kernel Speedmod k13e (latest) with voodoo sound
PDA XWJS8
Phone XXJVO
CSC: Unknown/none
Build info 2011.03
any help on this issue is much appreciated, I don't want to wake up to the day where my speaker is fried

Hi suppressor;
Exactly the same situation here. We have 3 SGS i9000,all of them have the same problem. I tried several firmwares but nothing changed. Now I am trying the ServiceMode-Audio configurations.
Did you find a solution?
I have the latest Europe firmware (v2.3.4 - I9000XXJVP) but still have the problem.
Do the people you talk to on the phone complain about not hearing you well due to low voice? Make sure by listening to a recorded conversation
The people i talk have no complains about low voice or noise.I tested it with changing phones in a call with my friend. My problem is in my site. In a call i always hear radio interference sound on the background. It is coming from the rear speaker because it is always on. This sound is so loud that i hear it from the ear-speaker hole. Do you have any interference sound ?
Hey all,
I have a weird problem in that when I'm talking on the phone, it cancels out the earpiece speaker which is annoying because I could be walking down the street and as soon as it detects background noise, the earpiece speaker mutes?
Has anyone experienced this before?
I'm running the following:
Samsung Captivate i897
Continuum 5.5
Talon 0.2.1 Kernel
i9000XXJVO modem
Hello ,
I just got the note, everything works ok, except when i activate speakerphone during a Call. Suddenly the mic volume drops dramatically, other persons could barely hear me.
Do you guys suffer similar conditions ?... I am not sure to return it or not, as the mic work perfectly if speaker is not activated.
Thanks.
Which orientation do you hold it? I found that other people can hear me much better if I put it screen down so the back (and I assume mic) faces me. Do you have a case or something else that might block the mic?

Galaxy Note - ICS - Speakerphone Volume Low
Hi Guys,
I was using the Note on Gingerbread without speakerphone issues and then flashed the stock official build IML74K.XXLPY.
Since then whenever I go to speakerphone the other party can barely hear me. For me its an ICS issue, not hardware.
What Version are you running ?
Update 15/05/12 Flashed back to gingerbread and the speaker phone now works.
Note- ICS 4.0.3 Indian Stock
Guys,
I am also having same issue on activating the speaker during a call.. I remember it worked on gingerbread.. look likes and Software issue.. Samsung seeding 4.0.4 in few countries .. Just hope it will get resolved..otherwise I am going to return it..
Update : I visited Samsung Service Center in my city the issue was resolved after they flashed ICS on my Note. So apparently it was a Software issue..
Thanks
UPDATE:
Samsung service center flashed ICS 4.0.3 on my Note and after that mic was working fine. I got message for OTA(LPA) update after connecting my Note to wifi at home. It seems the issues are in this update only.. as after updating the note mic stopped working normally on activating the speaker during the call again .. Damn Samsung engineers did not check what they are pushing to customers...Shame Sammy...
Hello there Android Central.
First I would like to apologize if this has already been answered. but i didn't find it!
So I have a Samsung GT-N7000 Galaxy Note Rooted running the ICS 4.0.4 .
I just came to know high pitched screeching coming through my speakers when i play anything (Video,Music even during calls),
I thought that it's speaker's fault, I Plugged in Earphones, they also produced the same noise.
In Normal Carrier Call Everything goes fine,But When I do Skype or Viber, I hear that Screeching Noise..
IN SHORT: My Note's Sound system gone mad ..
This Problem occurred when i upgraded my GT-N7000 from ICS to 4.1.2 JB..
I thought it'd be a OS issue so i downgrade to ICS.
But problem remains there..
Help Me!!!
