[Q] Galaxy Mini wont go into recovery - Samsung Galaxy Mini

My friend just got his new phone, he had a Galaxy Ace previously and we were able to flash it with no problem, bad in my part since i thought it would be just the same as flashing the ace, so i got CWR and put the Galaxy mini into recovery, choose install update.zip, it install it, then i tried going to CWR but it wont go, looked online and found that i needed to use Odin tool to flash CWR, i did all the steps to flash it, but still cant get into recovery, the phone works fine, but we want to install a custom rom, what can we do?
thanks for your help.
Regards,

Look for the topic of flashing CWM on forums.

i think you would have to REINSTALL the STOCK GB ROM and then install CWM recovery using odin.
for REINSTALLING GB,
http://www.androidaddicted.com/samsung-3/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-mini-s5570-to-gingerbread-2-3-6-s5570jvkt1-37.html
for CWM http://www.androidaddicted.com/samsung-3/how-to-install-custom-recovery-on-samsung-galaxy-mini-s5570-259.htmlrecovery,

My friend gave me a samsung wich didn't wanted to go into recovery either. I can't remember which of these solutions we found online worked but try them out ( i can'r remember all but I hope the one wich worked is listed here ):
-instead of volume down hold volume up + power
-unroot your device, download ROM MANAGER app and install clockwork mod via the app ( easiest way to install cwm imo ) (btw this may brick your phone so do this only as last resort and still avoid doing this. Worked for me but many ppl bricked their mini with this)
-install everything stock and try again as the guy above me already wrote.

Dont use ROM MANAGER with SGM!!!

[Q] music edition rom

hello guys.
i've got the galaxy mini and i installed on it gingerbread 3.4 with odin.
i want to try the cyanogen mod music edition ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329551 )
i run clockwork recovery , both the 4.xxx version suggested by another forum and the newest version.
then i wiped the cache, and after installing it went on bootlooping!!!
three questions for you!
1) can i install this mod or another cyanogen mod with odin???
2) why cm music edition didn't work???
3) there is a person that can made a tar package that can be flashed easier with odin???
thanks in advantages!
what baseband do u have?
already wipe system/data? in recovery?
sent from Nokia 3310
use Clock work recovery 4.
No, can't use Odin for update to CM.
Just follow the instruction on yagya gaire's blog and wait while ur screen boots. its not bootlooping, first time booting require a bit more time, wait for 5-10 minutes,if till not work, then u can say ur bootlooping.
u just wiped the cache , wipe data also, and then try to restart....it will surely work,
ok,thnx guys, now my cmmusic mod works fine, but now i need an fm radio, and i know that the galaxy mini has got a built in radio tuner in the stock rom, but i can't find radio tuner app in the market that doesn't require network acces.
do you know anything about it?
use spirit fm..search for it in xda..

Yes.. Don't worry if you did not root your stock rom before you flash a custom ROM. It will not have any effect on the custom ROM you will be installing anyway. Custom ROMs are already pre-rooted when you install it. As long as you have GB, it will work.. Just follow the instructions on the dev thread on how to install it..

no problem my friend, just flash the custom rom it should work. and CM7.2 will work for indian version of Galaxy mini. Theres no much difference in the various versions of galaxy mini. its basically the same phone so feel free to try out CM7.2 RC5.7! Its a great piece of work!
is there any risk of hard brick.. if I follow the steps correctly

Theres is always a small risk involved but if you follow the steps correctly then you will have no problem.usually problems arise when you miss a step in the process.

No.. if you follow it correctly.. besides, squadzone would not post instructions that will risk your phone..
Sorry 4 this silly question, i am a noob.... Which cache & data to be wiped before & after install of cm7 (cache, data, dalvik cache & some other).. The problem is this - different forums follows slightly different steps. I don't want my phone to be bricked
after going to recovery mode wipe data an cache(option will be on main screen) then go to advanced from there wipe dalvik cache then flash rom, after flashing do all the wiping again
You should use CWM 5.0.2.8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529863
Not that this one you are using will cause problems, not at all... but this one has small letters so it's easy to read long paths.
Just a suggestion.
And every time I flash a new ROM via CWM I wipe both caches on "home" screen of CWM and Dalvik cache and battery stats under Advanced menu.
i thought latest CWM is 5.0.2.8 version
why u still using v4???
I successfully upgraded to cm7.2rc 5.7..... it's very smooth... thanks to all. Plz. suggest me which app. Can I delete like. terminal emulator, info bmkg. What is terminal. Emulator? ?

Have you ever use any Linux distro on laptop or desktop? A terminal (Terminal on Gnome, or Konsole on KDE) is a text-only window where you launch commands, edit text files, etc... All in text.
Terminal emulator on Android does pratically the same...

[Q] Think I've made a mistake

what I did:
- installed cwm
- installed cm7
- installed a different version of cwm
- installed cm9
If I turn on my phone, it loads up CM9 (ICS copy) that I found on this forum and installed on my phone using cwm.
I think I have a problem, because if I press the power button > reboot > recovery mode. The screen turns off, but when turning back on, a screen flashes up saying Samsung-Gio and some model number that is not my phone (too quick to see the numbers). I then get into the recovery menu.
If I try to install a different ROM or a different version of cwm to the one currently installed I get the assert failed: getprop error. When trying to install a different cwm the errors are related to model numbers. When trying a different rom, I get errors to do with the name of the rom.
Have I installed the wrong version of cwm? I'm really unsure what to do.
I tried doing a restore using the cwm, but my phone would get stuck on the boot screen. I can reinstall CM9 no problem, and I can re install the second copy of cwm that I downloaded.
Ideally, I would like to run CM7, or do a complete reset to stock rom
Try flashing the CWM for Galaxy Ace. Find it in this forum.
I think that you flashed CWM for Gio lol
But that's interesting, the recovery for Gio works in Ace lol

forgive me, but when you say flash the cwm for galaxy ace. I assume you mean go into recovery mode -> install from sd card -> cwm.zip etc?
I've tried doing that and I get assert failedrop(..) errors related to model numbers. I'm guessing it's telling me that the cwm version is not suitable for my phone, because it thinks I have a gio. Funny how it didn't tell me that when I was installing the gio cwm using the galaxy ace cwm.
I think your phone just evolved from ace to gio. lol. Maybe you can now flash some roms that are for gio. But dont try it yet as you might hard brick ur ace. Maybe you can go to download mode and flash a stock rom via odin. We need some more solutions as this is a rare case.

The assert failure is easy to fix .
Just edit the updater-script .
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?

Ok I altered the script, and managed to flash the correct version of cwm followed by CM7 without any errors.

[Q] With a Galaxy Ace GT-S5839i

Hi!
I have a Galaxy Ace GT-S5389i and I didn't found any post who say how to change the rom or change the recovery to a clockwork !
I try the clockwork recovery 5 but it failed.
Can I install a different recovery and then a custom ROM or that's not possible for my phone ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.
Hello!
This guide should help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
The only custom rom avaliable for now is rajrock's, there are other groups developing, let's wait, but DO NOT flash S5830 roms in your device, the hardware is different and it may brick your phone.
Ok, thank you, so I must wait !
yinssio 600
If you ask me, dont flash any ROM just yet even the rajrocks razodroid Rom bricked my phone and im using the S5839i.... Wait until someone releases a ROM specifically for the phone! For some people It works and I dont understand how, maybe they used a different kernel.
I'm asking for you help

I recently wanted to flash my Samsung Galaxy ACE GT-S5839i with RazoDroiD and ClockworkMod, both files are compatible, I think I messed up in the wiping part, I restarted the phone on the normal recovery mode, choosed Install Zip from SD Card, and choosed ClockworkMod, it instantly gave me the Clockworkmod Recovery interface, so I choosed Wipe data factory, and Wipe Dalvik, then choosed install zip from sd card and choosed RazoDroiD.
Now when I turn on my phone, I hangs on the Samsung logo, and if I turn it off, it restarts all by itself.
Pleaaaaase help me !

I just recover my phone from this problem by using this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28536093&postcount=264
Forget that the RazoDroiD.is compatible with GT-S5839i its not ! I had exactly the same problem like you. Just follow the steps with Odin and you will recover your phone.
You will also need a original firmware from here : http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...laxy-ace-firmwares&catid=55:samsung&Itemid=82
I hope that will help you enough. Good luck :good:
Yep, Bricked my GT-S5839i
I officially bricked my galaxy ace gt-s5839i for the second time...but this time trying to flash Razodroid v2.5.
Did all the steps and instructions properly but turned my phone into a brick . Hope that my previous back up through CWM restores my Stock Rom!
So anyone with gt-s5839i phone, please dont flash Razodroid for your own safety.
S5839i = NOT COMPATIBLE

Please do not flash any ROM on the s5839i, it does not work! I am on 3 and I have had to send my phone back twice now because I was stupid enough to follow other people!
I have learnt my lesson now :good:
Just wait till there are roms that are confirmed for 100% before you do anything!
This is the S5830 thread, please ask for it in the correct section
You'll brick you device if you use S5830's ROMS or whatever from the incorrect device to your device
Thank you for understanding!

And ask in the right section next time.

[Q] Glaxy ace not run

Hello.
I have a galaxy ace gt-s5830i, I have rooteado and rom and doing great, has never given me problems, my father has the gt-s5830 and the other day he asked me to release him (because he was of movistar) and to put a rom, so I did root and released him, then I started to put a rom, enter CWM and did a backup (which I thought had done well) and I started to install the rom `` cm10.1 cr1'', I deleted all three and proceeded to install, installed, rebooted but the screen was blue and not moving, I reentered the CWM and tried installing another rom but none worked, after spend one tried installing roms whole day I decided to restore from the backup, but in doing so gave me error, the backup was not done right, I searched the internet and restored a backup, the problem is that the backup was a gt-s5830L starts nor I've been looking and can not find any for gt-s5830, I also tried to put the stock rom from odin but the pc does not recognize me mobile. Now to not let me install roms. Not if it is bricked. Not under warranty.
It's urgent.
Greetings.

You say that you own a S5830i!!!
You can not install any S5830 ROMs on it. I think that you also installed the S5830 (without the i) CWM.
That's why your device is bricked. If you flash any other ROM again, install a S5830i ROM.
So this is not the right forum for it. This is the forum for the "normal" S5830.
Try flashing the CWM for the i Version.
Good luck!
I've solved, I put the cwm of cyanogen and cyanogen mod 7 installed and it works, thank you very much for the help.
