Code:
This is the stock kernel from the N7000XXKJ4 firmware. Nothing more.
This can be used to remove that pesky yellow triangle after you root.
Please let me know if this works. I do not own a note and I cannot
test, however honestly not sure why it wouldnt.
Place the .tar file in PDA section of odin. Flash.
http://db.tt/BUmxqqTP - Supposedly not working.
http://db.tt/TfalWJj6 - Here is the stock zImage, no .tar format. Works the same as a .tar file however, flash in PDA of odin.
Again please let me know if this works.
Remember to press thanks if you use it and it works
HOW TO REMOVE YELLOW TRIANGLE
(1) Flash netchip's kernel, to obtain root.
(2) Make sure you have the netchips kernel in zImage. (ZIP --> extract --> TAR --> extract --> zImage).
(3) Push the zImage file to /sdcard . It must still be called zImage !
(4) Install The CWM app ---> http://db.tt/psc0JdvG
(5) Reboot into download mode (adb reboot download, or boot the device with home and volume-down pressed)
(6) Fire up ODIN, and flash the Samsung kernel from the above post
(7) Boot the device with the stock kernel. CWM Manager will still be available.
(8) Start CWM Manager, select Flash Kernel, and select the zImage from netchip you previously put on your SD-card. The kernel will flash and the device will reboot.
(9) You will now notice you no longer have the warning triangle during boot, but you are actually running netchips kernel.
(10) In the future, if you only use the Flash Kernel option inside CWM Manager instead of ODIN, the triangle will not return, neither will your flash counter increase. But keep in mind, that CWM Manager can only handle a direct "zImage" if you are NOT running a kernel with full busybox support (this is currently needed for flashing kernels out of .TAR and .ZIP files)
You may also leave the stock Samsung kernel installed and you will still be rooted, however no clockwork recovery. If you want to leave the stock kernel installed SKIP STEPS 2,3,4,5.
Credits to Chainfire for the write up! Since I know people are lazy and wont search for it.

the trick with CWM&zImage does not work! The phone will restart with stock recovery 3e..
and I had to reinstall busybox..
Same here. Flashing netchip's zImage from within CWM-Manager works (or at least it looks like), but "Reboot into Recovery" ends up in the standard Android System Recovery. Also, according to Settings -> Phone Info -> Kernel there's still the stock kernel in place ([email protected] #2)

k. am downgrading Firmware to KL3 , and i need procedure. but mainly it should not effect binary counter.
It's not possible to root LA4 directly at the moment, so you'll need to downgrade your device first:
- Download a firmware that's rootable from here.
- Download Odin from the link provided above
- Enter "Download Mode" on your device by shutting your Note completely off, then press and hold Volume Down + Home button + Power button
- Start Odin
- Unzip the firmware (the zip file you just downloaded), and you'll end up with a md5-file
- Go to Odin and click "PDA" and choose the md5-file
- Press "Start"
- Wait
- Done
Now you can root the device and get CWM, so go to this thread and do the "I Want ROOT + CWM" at the end of the first post.
- After you're rooted download LA4 again from the first link in this post
- Transfer it to your Note
- Open CWM on your Note
- Flash it
Done. You now have a rooted LA4.

No it won't.
Just make 1 thing clear. binary count raise only, If you flash any custom ROM/Kernel with PC Odin.
Follow LordManhattan's advise and still once refer Installation guide in detail in post #2 n 3 of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Just to add, Downgrade Firmware shud be direct rootable. (before KL7), N if particularly i specify, I can say Downgrade first to indian ROM KL1, I have flashed this ROM in at least 5 Notes.
That means Flashing Custom ROM using CWM doesn't effect Binary Count rite??
if you flash using CWM or mobile odin it wont if you do using oding from PC it will still not sure about official firmware

Hey,
Dr.Ketan, can you tell me please if there is a chance to root the original LA4 (never changed rom) if I don't have access to a Windows and only to a Mac?
I only want to root it for the basic tweaks and apps. Don't need a custom rom at the moment. I want to root it and use it as is while I wait for the official ICS.
Thanks.
There is no Queston of window or Mac,LA4 is non rootable, to get root, first u need to downgrade older rom.

Thanks. I got ahead of the events. I didn't meant that. I meant if I can do the procedure of downgrading and everything I might need to do in order to root or to install a custom rom or another stock using ONLY my Samsung Note and a Mac.
Q1: I can downgrade using a exclusively a Mac with Lion on it?
Q2: If the answer to Q1 is affirmative, can I root it after downgrade also using only Lion on Mac?
Thanks again!
I have never heard mac pc odin. Plz google for it. So without pc odin you cant downgrade.
Yes there was review i read, got root with mac. You just read my thread how to root...(u may find from my signature), i remember i have post a link somwhere, how to root using mac.

Yes, I saw there was one root with mac solution, but works only if the Note is rootable. LA4 is not. So I must downgrade first. )))))
Nevermind, I'll try to do it with Windows, somehow. Thanks!
I am also new to this, and this thread is very clear. The bit I do not understand is what Kernal I should be running. Custom roms available can have a variety of kernals e.g LA3, LA4 etc. Do i have to choose a rom that has a kernal compatible with my phone? is there some rational to running one kernal vs another? I notice that it may be possible to flash a rom and keep a previous kernal e.g a CF kernal. is this advisable? your advice would be very welcome.
You don't need to flash a new kernel. Most of the custom ROMs includes a custom kernel that's good enough, but if you're interested in testing a few of them then you can do it without any problems.

Now is when I am lost. I did all the above (thanks, by the way) and I run KKA now. I had LA4 (Germany) when bought it, then downgraded to root.
Now I am rooted but when I try to update firmware with CWM, nothing happens. I have to put the ZIP in the Note or the MD5? I tried with the MD5 two times.
Is there something I do wrong? Is any other method apart from CWM? I mention that when I downgraded and first booted, CWM said something about "not being compatible and some functions were disabled".
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I couldn't work it out as expected and I went back to my original LA4 (Germany).

You always loose root after flashing stock firmware! Should have flashed it with MobileOdinPro.
If you want root again, downgrade to a directly rootable rom (all versions till KL7) and reroot it with CFRootIntitialFlasher by Chainfire, thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784

Is there any other easier methods to root the LA1 or wait for it?

And also read that all flashing can be done via windows Odin (easier for me to deal via pc than mobile screen size)

No LA1 cannot be rooted directly unless you don`t care about raising the binary flash counter. I think KK2 is a wipe rom so yes you will losse everything on your internal disk, so copy the entire disk with windows task manager and put it back after you flashed KK2.
Odin can only be used with stock firmware, kernels or csc files, not custom files.
And try to read up about rooting, flashing and such things. There are threads enough around here.
Good luck

according to what I understood from you so far:
1 - I will reflash the Original stock rom KK2 by PC Odin
you said that KK2 will wipe my mobile and I should make a backup for my internal disk, So, Sorry to ask: what is this (windows task manager) and how to use it?
2 - I will root the KK2 same way I did last time
3 - I will flash the new update LA1 via Mobile Odin and it will keep my root and CWM

1. yes reflash KK2 using PC odin, I dont know wether KK2 is wipe version, if it is wipe, even you won't lose data on internal SD card, no meaning to take backup with window. If you want to backup your installed app + data, you must have Root.
alternatively you can choose non wipe version to reflash (e.g. KL3 india) it won't delete anything.
2. You have to Root Your relashed ROM (you can find how to Root guide on my signature)
3.Mobile Odin Pro is paid. Dont want to pay for mobile Odin Pro/ unable to purchase it, you can get Root + CWM, then update LA4 using CWM ( you may get installation guide link from my signature)
I will recommend to read all 4 links(first 2-3 post) on my signature, you will find answer of most of your questions
what if i tried to root my new ROM (LA1) using doomlord rooting kit, failed, and then downgrade it to KL3?
can i still use the doomlord easy rooting kit?
i tried this few times yesterday, but it still won't get rooted.
Ok, I reflashed by PC Odin my original stock rom KK2, and it was not wipe, I found everything is intact
But when I tried to root + recovery like before, did not work although I get on the screen (all done) but after reboot no root or CWM
I reinstalled Kies but still alot of errors when trying to do the rppt only or root+CWM
What should I do?
is there any way that I can wipe my phone and start as fresh as I can? what I did is :
boot to recovery and chooses wipe cache partition and Factory reset, it is all or there is something else can be done?
Edit : The wipe did it, and I have root and CWM now

Yes you can use doomlord method after downgrade.
check USB debugging on, close any PC sync SW, close Firewall, close antivitus. Try another PC.
I have searched at the development page but I am not quite understand what to do for rooting LA4. Expect downgrading the firmware, is there any other ways to root N7000? I have already brought the micro USB resistant which can reset the binary count.

have you tried this???
Well, if you don't mind getting the yellow triangle and tripping the binary counter, the simplest way to root LA4 would be:
1. Download CF-Root LA4 kernel to your PC
2. Start PC Odin
3. Boot your Note into Download Mode (volume down + home + power)
4. Connect your phone to the PC
5. Wait for the drivers to get installed and for Odin to recognize your phone
6. Click on PDA and navigate to the CF-Root XL4 kernel
7. Click Start
It'll take about 10 seconds and your phone will be rooted. However, your binary counter will show 1.

Yeah you are going to use your hong kong rom.You cant root the rom which you have now.You have only three options:
1.Download and flash a pre-rooted stock rom and flash cf-root kernel to get cwm
2.Use Dr.ketan's method.Downgrade to rootable rom,use the script, upgrade to any rom using mobile odin
3.This method only can make you stay in your current Rom.Thats the method chasmodo said.Flash a cfroot kernel through PC odin. But by this method you get triangle and increase counter.
You cannot reset counter or remove triangle with jig as such. There is a sticky in Dev section for it.

That means I can choose either one of them and root, after that, i can use mobile odin pro to upgrade to ZALA2 (HK ROM) again?
And I can also unroot by flashing with stock ROM and kernel?

Thanks for your help! I am confident to do it now. Actually, I owned i9000 and P990. Both of them were rooted and installed Darky's ROM or CM7. But GS2 and GSN now have the binary counter which is new for me. I have to learn it again.

Does LPF count the closest?
Is it not dangerous?
There are two methods for doing this:
============================
Method #1:
Use rooting method provided by dr.ketan "the rooting part only" (click here)
Then install Mobile Odin Pro from the market... Then flash any custom kernel by Mobile Odin Pro (suggestion SpeedMod k3-3 kernel)
By doing these steps, you will have root and CWM recovery in the end
Method #2:
You can just install SpeedMod k3-3 kernel by PC Odin without a need for dr.ketan method and you will end up having root and CWM recovery in the end; but I don't know if this is going to increase binary count in download mode or not... So the safest is to go through the first method mentioned..
Cheers
