Whenever I install MIUI, my recovery does not work. I tried Open Recovery and clockworksmod recovery but both faill.
For Open Recovery, whenever I try to go to recovery, my phone thinks that Open Recovery is not installed since it shows " apply update.zip ". I clicked that but every time I tried to go into recovery, it shows the same thing.
For clockworksmod recovery, it says that applying the update.zip has failed.

So I put ClockworkMod Recovery 2.0.1.3 on my G1 yesterday with the app ROM Manager v2.0.0.5
I flashed a ROM using the app... No errors, no bootloop, worked fine..
I now press [HOME] + [POWER] and I get stuck at the G1 screen
I type reboot recovery via terminal and I get stuck at the G! screen
I flash_image recovery /sdcard/cm-recovery-1.4.img and I get a plethora of errors and last line states I am out of memory ????
I erase_image recovery and I get no errors but nothing happens
I go to recovery flasher and get errors if I try to back up or flash my recovery
I go to ROM Manager to flash a recovery and it wont flash CwM recovery
I dont have adb at the moment bc my comp is tanked... any suggestions?
I had Clockwork and I Flashed KenMood 1.9.3 and last night when I tried to boot into Recovery it would just get stuck on the Splash. When I booted up normally, it would just reboot. Now when I try (after charging overnight) it works fine, but still no recovery image. I tried to flash it using ROM Manager Premium and it shows that the flash was successful but it still won't work. Any ideas on what I can do…? I don't have fastBoot setup correctly btw.
I tweeted koush and this was his reply

@JunkDruggler Use erase_image to erase your recovery and flash another one. Or fastboot flash another one on there. about 1 hour ago via Tweetie for Mac in reply to JunkDruggler
So I opened terminal and kept trying over and over
erase_image recovery
flash_image recovery /sdcard/cm-recovery-1.4.img
I noticed less errors and eventually it worked..
I am now back to my obselete recovery with the console nobody uses anymore..
My friend wanted to flash the unofficial released V20E, so I told him to use ROM Manager to install CWN recovery 5.0.2.0..
But something strange and unlucky happened.
He couldn't boot the device, enter recovery or even the official S/W mode.
So I sent him Rusty!'s Nvflash recovery, trying to save the device.
However, Nvflash stop at Nvflash started, which should be immediately finished, for a long time.
Anyone can help??
PS: I don't know which recovery he flashed before, he said when he tried to enter the recovery, it was an android and a box instead of recovery mode.

I gained S-off on my HTC Incredible S.
When i go into recovery there comes first a picture of a phone with a green update circle with an arrow facing down, after a few seconds there comes a phone with a red exclamation mark. It stays like that, but if i push the power button + Sound Up it gets into recovery but it only has: Reboot System now, Apply update from sdcard, Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition.
And the end of the screen it says: E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
I don't have Superuser, and if i download an app to show if i have root on my phone it says i don't have root.
If i want to flash a rom it i push on: Apply update from sdcard.
And then it says: --Invalid Operation--
success reboot by reason em-00...
And then it just reboots my phone.
What can i do to flash my ROM, get superuser and gain root?

U flash superuser-3.1.3-arm or something like that. You can find the file on pretty much any rooting guide.

How on earth did u get S-OFF..... I mean you dont get S-OFF without unlocking bootloader > Flashing recovery > Flashing superuser > downgrade (if needed) > Then its S-OFF.....

You still have the stock HTC recovery in place. That is why you cannot flash the superuser.
You need to install either ClockworkMod recovery or 4EXT recovery in order to flash custom zip files from your SD card.
i've unlocked my bootloader, rooted and installed twrp...i did all the required wipes and tried to install the titan rom 1.1.0..i thought the flashing has started but it came up with an error-"error executing updater binary in zip" i tried it the second time and the result was same..now when i tried to boot my phone up..it just hangs at the -"warning unlocked bootloader" screen..the phone isn't switching off and unable to enter the recovery...i can go to the fastboot mode..but when i select recovery..it doesn't go to twrp..it again gets stuck at the boot screen..what can i do now?
Flash stock image
Similar problem in another thread I just posted to. I am having similar problems.
If after flashing stock then flash custom recovery to be able to go into recovery ?
Hello, I need to know what version of firmware you were, I think, will have to increase the bootloader to install again and there TWRP, flash any ROM

Make sure you're using TWRP 2.8.6
Do all your wipes, reboot again into recovery, go to mount and make sure system isn't checked, go to install and try to flash again.

Hi all,
I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod following techbeasts.com tutorial but I'm stuck at the first step : installingTWRP (or CWM).
I followed precisely all the instructions (I allow debugging mode, I installed samsung drivers, I start the phone in download mode, I connect it with OEM cable, I start Odin, it sees the phone, I select the tar.md5 file.), Odin confirms it went well (green box writing "PASS"), but when I try to boot the recovery mode by holding Volume up + Home + Power it seems to boot another recovery software that doesn't offer a backup or a flashing options: "Android system recovery <3e>"
Can't get it to run TWRP or CWM... Can't install the supersu package.
What I'm I doing wrong? Can someone help?
Try to untick Auto Reboot option from odin. I had similiar issues and reason was if you have updated your phone with OTA-updates then it installs some kind of backup script. When your phone boots again after you had installed twrp it installs stock recovery during boot. So untick autoreboot, flash twrp and force boot straight to recovery without letting phone boot to OS. You can also try to pull battery out, put it back and then boot into recovery mode.
Sorry my english and try to understand.

Great it worked, thanks a lot !
But now I'm stuck on the next step : flashing CM11
I rooted my phone, booted TWRP, chose "install>cm11" (the zip downloaded from nova fusion) but it says "failed" after a few sec...
I would post my TWRP log but the forum prevents me doing so...
Well I get few things that you could check first.
1. Do factory reset for example from twrp. Factory reset is needed/recommended before installing custom rom from offical OS.
2. Sometimes just installing fails almost immediately if you have ticked check zip signature.
After you have installed new rom clear cache and davilk cache just in case. I'll do that every time if I install or update custom roms. Also don't forget to install right gapps package after you have installed rom.
Sorry my english and try to understand.
ok just realized i downloaded the wrong cm image (the odin one, not the recovery)
everything running smooth now
Okay happy to hear that everything is fine now. Happy playing with custom roms
