[Q] Need help with CWM Recovery - LG Revolution

I am having trouble with reocovering CWM from mtmichaelson's easy upgrade to V8. I have usb debugging on, internet connection only, unknown sources checked, etc. The following is the rror I am getting:
remount failed: Operation not permitted
/dev/block/mmcblk0p14: cannot open for write: Permission denied
Remove Trash
rm failed for /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, Read-only file system
rm failed for /system/recovery-from-boot.p, Read-only file system
rm failed for /data/local.prop, No such file or directory
I was coming from GingerVolt and cannot figure out what is going on. Any help would be greatle appreciated.

Did you wipe data? If so that could be why. You will just have to manually put in the local.prop file and restart the phone. Then try again.
Also was the the first time that you ran it? If not, how do you know you don't have recovery? Did you try the reboot recovery option in the bat file?

Thank you for replying so quickly. I booted into recovery from the .bat file and it worked. Should have done that first, but saw the error and didnt want to screw anything up. Dumd on my part.
I appreciate your work on this and just donated to the cause.

He said not to because it wipes the local.prop file which you don't want to do. So in a short way, Don't wipe data.

I think he means don't wipe data between steps 2 and 3 (I quoted the steps in my previous post). After you reboot to the OS, I believe it would be OK to reboot to CWM and wipe data if you wished.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. At that stage, I refrained from doing anything to the phone until I could run the CWM batch file. Worked flawlessly.

Dump Informaion of all the mount points...

I found 16 in mmcblk3 and 1 in mmcblk2, but only system, cache, misc and data actually mount. The following have something in the img file:
mmcblk2p1, 1.89gb, unknown img and not mounted;
mmcblk2p3, 336mb, system img and mounted;
mmcblk3p4, 112mb, cache img and mounted;
mmcblk3p6, 560mb, unknown img and not mounted;
mmcblk3p7, 2.05gb, data img and mounted;
mmcblk3p14, 4.29gb, unknown img and not mounted.
All the other mmcblk3 img files are all 16mb.
I dont know how to view or extract the img files to find out which are boot or recovery. Or, why 11 of them are all exactly 16mb each. Could anyone give some feedback on it?

Well...gotta download some repositories, and where I am, my connection is slow. No real internet, I am tethering my connection through my streak, lol. And alas, no 4g,in this area, so it will take a while. But like I said. Should have this puppy done by this weekend.

Right in front of my face. I finally read that link from late last night. Booted my laptop into linux, and ran the perl scripts. The perl scripts will only decompile the mount point if it is either the boot img or the recovery img. And wham. There the only 2 image files were that decompiled. On that link again shows the they typical ramdisk of a typical boot image and the typical ramdisk of a typical recovery. So after comparing the structures, I found them. Now I have to go back and start working them together by following the rest of koush's instructions, and depending on the realibiliy of this 3g connection will determine when I dowbload the rest of the depositories, and can finish building the CWM recovery file.

Can't change system partition sizes.

Hi. Wanted to install enigma rom, but I had some problems. When wanted to flash the system using fastboot - there was an error, not enough space. Then I tried with clockwork, didn't work either.
After that I noticed that I have to change size of partitions, went to this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15901109&postcount=23 , downloaded System: 250 Data: 134, tried to flash it. But again a f**king error -writing appsbl failed (remote: unknown partition).
Googled it, but didn't found nothing useful. Would be very glad, if someone here would help.

Hi there glad your interested in enigma we have a nice release comming very soon
What are you using windows or linux?
If its linux remember sudo or su before the commands and to restart you terminal check permissions and do a clean wipe ex sudo ./fastboot -w
If using windows download mur4iks custom boot loader it works better than the pre made files for windows the pre mades where more for linux.

Download Mur4iks custom bootloader and then put ur phone into fastboot.
Connect phone to pc and check that all the fastboot driver has been installed.
Then open the bootloader and select ur system partition.. (data partition will
change auto) then click wipe data and then click flash partition..
Click reboot and then go into recovery and then flash enigma !!
Hey i think you should use the bootloadertool not the predefined one's maybe that works.
http://kulkoff.com/swift/ and then download the swiftbootloaderbuilder.zip.
extract into one folder ! it needs some additional files.
make backup with clockworkmod!
put the gt540 via usb , restart into fastboot mode before starting the bootloaderbuilder!
run the bootloaderbuilder.exe as administrator if using 7 / vista.
select partition sizes, flash bootloader. wipe & reboot.
restore an backup of your rom, flashable zips work too.

How to install OTA files?

On sammobile these days a few OTA files are available, one like this. Can anybody help how to use this .zip file. The contents of the file are,
1. debug_info (1KB)
2. delta.hidden (856KB)
3. delta.modem (1KB)
4. delta.platform (78396KB)
5. delta.Sbl (1280KB
6. delta.ua (241KB)
7. delta.zImage (4855KB)
FYI these files are not Recovery or CWM flashables.
Above file is an update of firmware to N7000DDLR8 from the previous firmware DDLR6 for indian GalaxyNote. As one can see it includes the firmware files, so be assured that it can be installed. But How???

you can try to rename the file to update.zip and then choose update from recovery. Dont know if this will help but its worth a try.
It gives a signature verification error not sure just renaming it to update.zip would fix it!

You should be on complete stock ROM
non rooted and on unsafe kernel then may it work, and thats is the point to be concern. This work with unsafe kernel as well update also contains unsafe kernel, so anything lead to messing your device, that will be risky to wipe anything. and in this situation you have to first flash safe kernel.
Mobile odin pro added support for flashing OTA files, but unfortunately didn't recognise OTA files which available for india. (this fuction in mobile odin is still on experiments)

All Credits to tracid
1. Copy all files from the archive to /cache/fota/ or /data/fota if you have bigger ota
/cache folder is only 192 MB
use root explorer
2. from adb shell:
su
chmod -R 0777 /cache (optional)
echo -n "--install_fota" > /cache/recovery/command
exit
adb reboot recovery

Um no, I have Philz-Touch installed, Is there any way to turn this into a flashable zip? I don't want to loose my CWM format backups, so if I must switch to TWR then I might pass for now.
Awesome work none-the-less.

No problem.
What about restoring original partition scheme? Is this possible via kdz tools (or what's called)? Is kdz reparitioning device?
Or it has to be done manually (then we have repart making it EXACTLY the same, every single byte?
@demonslayer12349, your script is a little strange.
Code:
@adb shell su -c "mount -o remopunt rw, /"
It should be:
Code:
@adb shell su -c "mount -o remount rw, /"
isn't it?
Then another thing. You delete 4 partitions and create only three.
For D410 partition 31 is "eksst". It is 0.5mb only. What is the reason to delete it?
Or the script is device-specific?

As I know LG software doesn't recreate partitions, so you have to do it manually.
