I have been having problems with getting the ota zv8 update. At first I went to fix the software update app, but after I tried restoring a stock zv7 backup, checking for an update just said no update available. Then I went to restore stock zv7 with lgnpst and the tot file, but still, it wouldn't get the update after it was flashed.
Is there anything that may be blocking or keeping it from finding the update?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Flash the v8 tot. Look at my thread in the development section.

Forgot to mention, is there a way to root zv8 after flashing the tot? I thought you had to get the ota update
Sent from my VS910 4G
There's currently no way to root your phone after upgrading to ZV8. You need to be rooted before the upgrade.
I know that, its just that I can't receive the ota update, so I've been trying to figure out why so I can get break out rom.
Sent from my VS910 4G
if your still on zv7 just do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583023
then flash break out rom
Thank you for suggesting I do that, but upon flashing the first file in cwm, my phone still wont pick up the update. Says no update available still.
Is there any way to restore software update? I haven't found a working zv4 or 6 tot link to try that, since the zv7 tot didn't work when i tried it.

ive had the same problem, i went all the way back to vz4 all stock and unrooted still no ota update, guess its fairly common. but there are methods around it. and it seems fairly easy. unfortunately for me this phone is my only source of internet so if it fails im screwed, so im still waiting. but theres alot of sources and helpful ppl willing to help if u get into a bind.

I have a Verizon Droid Bionic. I went away to Europe for the holidays, and connected to wifi, and the message to upgrade kept coming up. I was advised not to do so, but somehow, I must've pressed ok, and it went through the process.
Now I do not have root anymore. I need help to be able to reroot my phone. Is it even possible anymore? When looking at the last page of the root thread, another person had the same problem as me and I didn't see any solution.
Help?
What version did you get pushed? If its .893 than just reroot like you did originally. If you got pushed .901 which i doubt you'll have to use the path saver method.

Wow so sorry to hear that, that really stinks.
You sound like you got upgraded to the OTA .901.
I did the same thing. I did however get it back, now I'm on a rooted .901. Here's what I did. It's going to be painful but it'll work.
Follow this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427945
Follow all the instructions, but between rebooting and flashing the .893 upgrade 43r3r root your phone.
Good luck
I used Super One Click to root my phone a few months ago, only to remove most of the bloatware that came on the phone. My phone now keeps trying to update to the new software, usually only once every 24 hours, but the past week, a few days it has automatically tried updating several times throughout the day. Very frustrating.
Obviously it won't update being rooted. However, I removed the bloatware, so I don't care that it is rooted anymore. I figure I can unroot it and then get the update to work. However, using Super One Click again, it won't unroot. It gets the error "Device does not have Superuser!" I can then proceed to root it with SOC and have it be successful, and try again and get the same error. Any ideas?
And I guess, will unrooting allow me to successfully update it anyways? Thanks!
The phone should update if it is rooted. It will not update if you have CWM installed. You will also get all that lovely bloatware installed back during the update.
Your best bet is to get the lgpnst and v8 tot and update manually then root that and remove the bloatware again.
Thanks for the help. I'm very new to this, so I don't really know what you're talking about haha. I see some stuff on tot, but what is the lgpnst? If you could link to that and the v8 tot you are talking about and maybe how to use those, that would be great.

I just got my bionic on saturday and i love it... i saw that .905 has leaked out... Now my question should i go for it or wait for the ota... my phone is not rooted as it runs very well with the current 902 rom... and If i do get the. 905 rom will i be able to update the software in the future
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
If your not rooted yet or using custom roms, then I would just wait for the ota. I'm rooted and romed and haven't bothered myself because it's really just a radio update. However, I would root your phone just for all the other benifits.

Depends on how adventurous you're feeling
If the .905 release isn't the final, then you will be off the upgrade path. Getting back onto it isn't impossible, but it certainly is a pita.
At this point, it's been so long since the soak testers posted about their invite, I'd wonder if they will push another version out. Most everyone thought that .904 would be the next stable release, and now .905 seems less likely too.
Wish we had more info on what was going on behind the curtain with moto and vzw, but alas we do not.

I would very much like to upgrade to the ota 905 JUST so I can put the Eclipse V3.0 ROM on my Bionic. I am just not certain of what to do. I think I need to use RSD Lite woth the 902 "rollback". Then update to 905, root again with motofail, then install the ROM??
I have confidence in doing this onc I have all the right pieces. It's not like I havent done this before (HP Touchpa, Motorola Xoom, Toshiba Thrive). I just need to make sure I have all that I need and have the correct install instructions....
I have a rooted bionic with version 902 currently on it. Will upgrading OTA to 905 cause my phone to brick or should i just wait for a rooted version to come out?

I just received the .905 update and it broke my root. All I had to do to get it back was run motofail and I was up and running again.
I only use Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, and Rootdim as my root apps for now though.
I ran the update also. Didn't break root but destroyed 4g connectivity. Back to 902

I've been on Nitro33's Bionic-905deodexed-nitro33.zip for 2 days without a glitch. I upgraded from a stock 902 that I rooted. Had to get rid of safeboot and go with ClockWork mod recovery since the locked bootloader didn't like the file signature, but I put safeboot back on after the install, did my backup, and I've been runinig without a glitch since. I didn't even wipe data.

I tried to update to 905 from 902 and it keeps failing. Could that be happening because I had soft bricked my phone a while ago but was able to save it by finding the stock online?
I safe strapped back to my unsafe side. Waited a day to see if the update dropped. Nothing. So i downloaded it off phandroid's article about it. Flashed it after removing safe strap. No issues. Kept root. Flashed safe strap again. 4G radio is great now. I'm using Droid Theory's Axiom ROM and data connects immediately now. Used to take a minute or two after a boot. Loving this.

What does it say when it fails? If you can get it OTA, extract it out of your /Cache/ folder and Place the file on your SD card, like actual Micro SD. Power off. Hold both volume buttons and press the power button. You are in fastboot. Press volume down to highlight Recovery, then tap volume up to select it. Now do the option for update with zip. Choose the file. Watch it as it installs. When it fails it should state what was wrong.

it will only be there when it is first downloaded. Once you try to flash it it is wiped from the cache. So you would download it when prompted. Then when it finishes and asks to reboot, choose you'll reboot and install later, now you can extract it from the Cache folder.

I am having quite a few issues with my phone running slower then a Ferrari with no engine lol everything lags horribly bad. Even just opening my contact list takes a couple minutes before it opens. And just trying to type a text or typing this post right now takes so long cause the keyboard lags out so bad and can't keep up with the speed I type like it usually has no problem doing.
So I was hoping someone could give me detailed, step by step instructions or a guide, to restore your phone back to unrooted stock, just came out of the box, settings. I wanna completely restart my phone. But I don't know how to go about doing that. I've done it with my last two Android phones. Which were a Droid X and before that a Droid 2 Global. But I was told that the process for Motorola phones, which you just use RSDlite and its pretty easy but like I said. I was told that RSDlite only works with motorola phones. So if someone could help me do this. It would be very much appreciated.
I already restored my nandroid back up I made before flashing the last rom I was using. So I am just using the stock ZV7 LG rom but its rooted. I also wanna be able to do the process of keeping my phone rooted and still be able to go to the new ZV8 version. My phone keep trying to update everyday but obviously it wont work cause I am rooted and plus I don't want to stuck and unable to root my phone amd flash tols and what not. Which last time I checked no one has figured out how to just straight root the new ZV8 version. You have to do that process that just lets you keep rooted and still update. Which hopefully someone will figure out how to just root ZV8 itself.
Anyways, like I said, if someone could help me completely restart my phone and start fresh as if it just came out of the box for the first time. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

ZV9 ? I thought it was ZV8 was the latest update. Cause I am on ZV7 which was the update before the latest one, at least as far as I know. I am pretty sure I am on ZV7 and ZV8 was the latest. Have they come out with another update recently ? cause last time I Checked about 4 or 5months ago, ZV8 was the one that just came out.
It is really easy. Flash the v8 TOT. Upgrade to v9, do a factory reset and bam out of box v9. You can then root and what ever else (re-install apps)

okay, it's not that easy. I'm a noobie. I flashed the v8 tot, and I know it worked since in phone info, it changed from v4 straight to v8. BUT, for some reason, superuser and my old apps were still in the phone on the v8.
I went to check new software... nothing. V9 was a no go. What did I do wrong? I flashed it properly.
ALSO!!! HOW THE HECK DO I GET CLOCKWORK MANAGER IN V8 AND HOW DO I REBOOT INTO IT. help
Alright short story I bought this phone off of craigslist about 2 weeks ago. Started having a problem with text not being sent or received so I called verizon and they said the phone had a manufacture warranty so they sent me a refurb phone. Well I had rooted my first phone so I needed to return it to stock to send back. I used the all in one to root the phone so I was going to use it to unroot it. Well it unrooted the phone but did not reinstall stock recovery. I knew it wouldn't do anything but I did a factory wipe on the phone which got me stuck in CWM. Did some searching on the fourms found a exit recovery.zip then I was trying to find out how to get stock recovery back on the phone and only thing I could find was to flash a .tot file with LGNPST. So my attemps started with that. I was using a windows 7 64bit computer and ran into all kinds of problems installing .dll's After finnaly getting them to work (or at least I thought I did) I flashed zv9 to the phone got 19% complete then a error popped up. I can't remember what it said though. device had the lg downloading data do not unplug screen. I had to unplug and pull battery. I then reinstalled LGNPST on a 32bit computer and started the whole process again. With a error again. Why is this such a hard process. Stayed up for 6 hours trying to get this phone back to stock. I have to have it done tonight to send back to verizon.

yes. Glad it worked for you. I have yet to get the v9 tot to flash. I just do the v8 and ota. Has never failed.
Yea worked like a champ! Now I got a new device and it doesn't seem like there is much modding as far as roms and what not for this phone. I came from the droid 3 only because it went in a pool with me. Im thinking about selling this and getting the galaxy s3. I have a problem with not retrieving mms messages and it is just a pain.
so even if im rooted and everything if i just flash v8 using the LG program, it'll revert me to stock?
and wipe everything right?
Yep. Follow the steps to use LGNPST and when done, go into settings and do a factory reset to go back to full stock.
