I had BBC 4.0.0.67 working on my 8525, and a couple of days ago bought the HTC Tytn II (Kaiser). On initial startup, using the SIM from my 8525, the Tytn II set up my AT&T data connection. Phone calls and 3G internet surfing worked fine. The Tytn set my data connection to use isp.cingular and I added the wap.cingular connection. I use the wap.cingular connection.
I first tried Blackberry connect 4.0.0.90 which would not connect to the BB server even though I had a good 3G internet connection. I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T who finally said it was a Blackberry problem and they transferred me to Blackberry. I spent an hour on the phone with them, and they concluded it was AT&T. Blackberry support transferred me back to AT&T. The AT&T manager basically said: we don't support a non AT&T phone on Blackberry...and we don't support blackberry connect. I will point out everyone was very nice throughout this over 2 hour ordeal.
So I removed BBC .90, cleaned out all traces, and reloaded the 4(1).0.0.84 AT&T Tilt version from the HTC America site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327695
and surprise, everything works perfectly on 3G and Edge. Blackberry BES for my work exchange email (synching email, calendar, contacts, and notes) and BIS for my personal email accounts. The Blackberry web browser also works fine.
At my firm I have the option to install BBC or Good. I have Good running but I'm wondering about BBC. Does it work like Good in that there is a separate application running that you need to open for mail/calendar/contacts, and it's not integrated into the native apps? Or is it like using a blackberry where everything is integrated. Thanks!
It's fully integrated into the native apps. BBC creates WM6 mail accounts for my exchange email and personal email accounts, the contacts are in the WM6 standard contacts database, and the appointments are in the standard calendar. All of these (except personal email) are bi-directionally syncronized with my exchange server.
do you have an AT&T blackberry data plan?
Yes. blackberry unlimited
Just one more question - for the corporate email, can you add an attachment to an email that is stored on the mobile unit?

I read this in an article which is what prompted me to ask. What the article is describing sounds like Good, where it's a separate application.... "The new BlackBerry application suite will complement existing Windows Mobile 6 functionality and will appear as an icon on the screen, in the same manner as other third-party applications. Clicking the icon will prompt a suite of BlackBerry applications, including push e-mail functionality, calendar, address book and others, to load. "
Can one run both the Outlook and the Blackberry connect in the same device (Kaiser) at the same time?
Also, I attempted to install BB connect and I was prompted to first disable my password. I could not find a way to do that without first eliminating the Outlook connection to the Exchange server. Is there another way?

My guess is the author was not familiar with the WM6 environment. There is a BB icon in settings and on the bottom of the today screen, but it brings up the bbc configuraton utility. The apps are fully integrated in the native wm6 apps.

If you use BBC to synch contacts, appointments, notes, and tasks, you cannot also synch them via activesynch/WMDC or exchange sync. It's one method or the other. I have not set up a POP account on my Tytn because I have all my personal POP email go through the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).
I'm not sure if you can exchange sync email and use BBC for email too.

Yes, but it seems like you are limited to 32K or smaller.
So, here's the deal. I also got this to work on my second day of having my TyTN II. I called AT&T and tricked them into thinking I had purchased an unlocked BB from a dealer and they switched me over to the BB Unlimited plan so I could use BES to connect to my corp email. I installed the PC software, and the handheld SW. And got everything working. It started downloading all my emails, inbox and sent. I chose not to sync my calendar until I confirmed it worked.
BUT...
Something very strange happened. Basically, it went thru my calendar, saw all my meetings that were on my calendar for the last week and in the future and started to RESEND ALL THE MEETING INVITES AS IF THEY WERE FROM ME.
So, if I had a meeting that I was invited to next week, along with 3 others. It sent out a meeting invitation through my email to the other 3 participants (excluding the original meeting organizer) and sent it as if I was the meeting organizer. So I ended up with duplicate meetings on my calendar, and it duplicated everyone else's calendar. So people had 2 meeting ivntes, one from me, and one from the original organizer.
Needless to say, this was a big problem. Fortunately, i cuaght it before it went thru my entire calendar, but ti still managed to send out about 40 meetings invites, some to large groups of people!
I immediately removed the BBC software and switched my plan back.
I don't know why it happened. I can't explain it. Has anyone else who gets the new Kaiser-compatible BBC installed had this issue? Or did it work as expected?
I would prefer to get BBC working, but I can't risk having that happen again!

That is very strange. BBC works great on mine and setup without issue.
GREAT news!!! since AT&T has not oficially released the "tilt" I'm assuming that you're using and HTC branded Kaiser, are you using the original ROM or did you Flash witht he AT&T ROM?
I'm eagerly awaiting for the delivery of my Kaiser
Thanks

I am using the original rom that came on the device. It took less than 5 minutes to set up.
Ditto. OEM ROM.
Has anyone used this on Tmobile? I know BB connect works on the Dash, but not on the Wing and I would hate to drop that much money to find out that it doesn't work with Tmobile.
Thanks for responding, I hope this holds true with other carrier than AT&T, I expect to have my kaiser within the next week or so, I'm in Mexico and my carrier is Telcel, I will report back as soon as I try this.
Cheers

That's great that it was so easy to set up and use.
One question though....I have been using BbConnect on my 8525 for a while now, and always have difficulty accessing things such as Cellular Video or XM Radio or MobiTV through the Bb unlimited data plan. Usually aI have to disconnect the BB Connect service to access those.
Do you know if these services/apps work with the unlocked Tytn II and Blackberry Connect?
Thanks!
I have gotten BBC to work and I am generally pleased with it except the 32k limit sucks.
I have a couple questions that I'm wondering if anyone else has figured out.
First, my work email shows up in a folder called "Desktop" which is different that the general "Outlook Email" folder. Why is there a difference?
Also, when sending meeting invitations, I don't have the option to use the work (i.e., "Desktop") account, only the Outlook Email account which is not connected. Any ideas how to remedy this?
Thanks!
HTC HD7 with WM7 - there is no provision to synchronise with microsoft outlook using Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Centre.
Alternate way of using Exchange Activesync does look complicated
Please address the issue
This has been Answered
There are some workarounds & a 3rd party app, the solutions have been posted and can be easily found with a simple search (here is a hint, CompanionLink for outlook, Windows Live Connector, Gmail Sync). This is a very hot issue and I suspect there will be more solutions forthcomming
Cheers

My Milage
I tried the Hotmail connector, I had some issues, it seemed to have problems dealing with more than 250 contacts. I am using the Demo version of CompanionLink and syncing to my gmail acct and that is working very nicely.
cheers

I followed method two from the two ways to sync and worked just fine. I kind of like getting away from Outlook anyway. Hotmail/Windows Live is great since it can used through any computer contected to the internet to update contacts, phone numbers, etc. But I could see if this is an issue if you primarily use Outlook.

The problem I have is my company isn't running Exchange so for me to get my calendar and contacts I need a way to sync with Outlook.
I've tried Hotmail Connector and it works well for a one time sync but if you have a lot of changes to your calendar I have to make the changes in Outlook and Hotmail.
I refuse to pay $40 for something that should work out of the box.

Unfortunately, both are cloud solutions, which are unacceptable to me for both security and privacy.
If the WM7 device were seen as an external storage device (apparently doable via the registry), does anyone know whether this could faciliate a direct USB sync with Outlook 2010 32-bit?
Both solutions are OK for a one off copy of Calender & Contacts but do not perform a true contniuous Sync with Outlook and do not handle TASKS

if you are not ready to play with the cloud, I don't think wp7 is for you. They seem very serious about making the cloud an integral part of the OS going forward.

no microsoft myphone. All syncing goes through your live email address (like hotmail). For me, I had all my contact info on gmail because of playing on android with my hd2.
1. Logged into hotmail
2. clicked on import contacts under the contacts view
3. Clicked on gmail and followed the instructions
Took about 10 minutes.
For outlook I'm pretty sure you can do something similar, though I think you might need outlook connector from the marketplace to bridge it over from outlook to hotmail. You will only have to do this once, but then I guess your outlook will not be a syncable acct on you phone.
Just looked on my hotmail and it says to export your outlook contacts to a file that you can then upload to hotmail.
I'm a Windows Mobile User for 2 years now (SE Xperia X1) and loved the way I can sync it with outlook.
I have all my contacts (approx 500) in outlook and also use the calendar (+5000 items)
I've spent some time in the past to get the info on my contacts straight and I'm very disappointed about the lack of synchronisation options between WP7 and outlook.
Why does everything needs to be cloud-based.
I don't sync every day, but neither use outlook on everyday basis.
I never experienced syncing problems on either calender/notes/contacts or mail.
I have read something about features that will be added in the near future into WP7 and hope that local outlook synchronisation is one of them.
Hi guys,
I`m new to WM7 and i`m trying t sync my contacts as well. I don`t use Outlook and idon`t have an account. Is there any other way to get my contacts on te phone?
Thanks
So the windows 7 software allows syncing to google calender, email and contacts?
I'm stunned that there is no native support for Outlook synchronization with Exchange - this is old school and what I consider a core component of any smartphone I purchase.
I've just bought a HD7 assuming it would have this functionality (why would I check for this on a Windows phone, next I'll need to check the thing makes calls), guess I'm going to have to sell it on.
There maybe Third party solutions but I can't imagine they're ever going to work as well as a direct sync with the Exchange server in my office, giving Contacts, Tasks, Calendar Items, etc.
Absolutely gutted.
B
Of course there's native support.
If you have an exchange server, you have ZERO to worry about.
The issue is people who use Outlook for Pop and Imap. Or people who just use it for tasks and contacts. Without a Hotmail Connector, there is no way to interface with Outlook like the old school Active Sync did.
Again though, If you have Exchange, it works exactly like it does on any other platform, if not better. The only thing lacking right now is Tasks.
Jimbonics,
I could kiss you. My wife wouldn't like it (and neither would you most likely, I'm stubbly)
I've been reading phone forums, reviews and specs for what seems like months trying to choose the right phone (offline voice command via bluetooth is essential for me but Android doesn't do it and other devices have flaky support) so I skim read this thread: my bad.
Thanks for making my day.

Until this week had been able to get Calendar sync with my corporate exchange account. Had to factory reset phone as it would not boot up.
Reinstall of email accounts went OK ... and as usual selected to sync calendar & contacts.
Yet Calendar does not sync ... email & contacts do.
Calendar remains blank - (so it is not the problem with prior to 2010 dates)...... if I manually create an entry then it shows in Calendar as the 'next appointment'
If I double tap calendar (or go via settings/accounts & sync it shows that :
sync background data - ticked
auto-sync - ticked
corporate account 'sync is ON' and shows green circle.
If I do a force 'sync now' it spins for a second or so, but does not bring in any dates corporate calendar.
It's not account access settings as email & contacts coming across OK
Have carried out a h/w reset again without SD card ... same result, (to rule out card format issues.)
This is BT (Vodafone SIM) and also connected by WiFi.
email & contacts sync no problem.
Any ideas ?
update ... after 3 days had some calendar entries populate ... but stilll nowhere near in synch.
Anbody offer any help on this ?
I have the same error/bug whatsoever. Pls help us!

After hardware reset had no improvement ... I updated to FROYO then to Gingerbread .. uisng KIES 2
Now all OK.
I don't think it was a fix in the s/w but I think the new software flushed out something in the build that a reset could not clear.
I have the same problem with calendar. My biggest reason to get this phone is because I needed a good calendar that can sync with Office Outlook and I just can't get it done anymore. Nothing is being synced and I really need all my appointments with me at all times (I'm in the medical field and need to be able to give patients appointments anywhere I am and don't want to tell them I will call them back when I'm in the office)
Any solutions or is upgrading to Gingerbread and Kies 2 the only solution like Sargan did?
You guys may want to use an app from CodeTwo. It's been recommended to me by my friend who is Exchange admin in a big company, where employees wanted to be synced to their office calendars, mails etc. and access them on their mobiles. The program syncs exchange public folders with your private mail clients on androids, iphones, blueberries etc.
oh, sorry, forgot to say, it's called CodeTwo Exchange Sync and is free in a trail version. You can download it from CodeTwo's official website.
Or the Enhanced Email for that matter - works great and sorted out all Calendar issues I had.

He's referring to the computer program HTC Sync.

When I try to Synch, it shows no device connected; even though the Vivid is connected by the USB cable and the phone is set for USB Debugging. I'm using the latest HTC Synch software as downloaded from the HTC website.
Post Edit. I found the solution. Not sure how to repeat it, though. This phone can be very confusing at time.
Got HTC Sync Working - Finally
I downloaded and installed the latest HTC Sync from the HTC web site because I want to sync my Outlook data with my Vivid as I did with my old HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile 6). It took several tries. The main problem seemd to be that it took the phone and Sync several minutes to finally establish a connection. I had been thinking it was not working, so I was stopping the program. Once I just left it alone on both the PC and phone, it finally connected, and then I was able to set it up.
It found and sync'd my Outlook 2007 (not Express) contacts and calendar. It would NOT sync my Outlook Tasks and Notes. The HTC rep I contacted said that was by design. They are pushing the Google method of syncing data. So, I will have to find a work-around for my Tasks and Notes -- probably Evernote, which I already use. I'm not quite ready to sell out totally to Google.
<Removed>
I am in the same boat with my HTC amaze. First hand I hate this phone but hey you know i like new toys. Apps suck under droid vs iphone but let me stop going off topic. I also wonder why HTC sync is only showing outlook express. And NO I will NEVER allow my info to go onto google. I don't trust the people near me why would I trust them ?
I tried android-sync and it never connected. about to try comanionlink hopefully it can share some insight but dont wish to pay $49.99 for a program after buying a $600.00 phone.

I apologize for just now responding to your question. I don't know any trick. When I finally got HTC Sync on the PC and the Vivid to connect, HTC Sync displayed a screen for me to set up when items I wanted to sync. For Calendar and Contacts, the dropdown lists had Outlook and Windows Calendar/Contacts. I chose Outlook. I assume that Outlook was a choice because I had it installed, and I did not have Outlook Express installed. Note that Outlook was installed locally and was not the server-based Exchange that businesses use. Syncing to that requires a different process.
I have a few questions about syncing involving a laptop running Windows 7 w/ Outlook 2010, and a Lumia 810 running Windows Phone 8.
I sincerely apologize for the wall of text, but he's running out of patience, and I'm running out of options, and I desperately need some help here.
My grandfather has been chomping at the bit to upgrade to a Windows Phone, even though I told him repeatedly that it will be difficult and I can't guarantee that he will be satisfied. Here's why:
He has over 1000 contacts, and Hotmail maxes out at 1000.
He has more than 1024 characters total in some contacts, Hotmail supports only 1024 characters total throughout the entire contact card.
He will not be able to sync via USB, so it requires a cloud based service of some sort to sync, none that support the amount of data he has.
I have set him up with a program called Akruto Sync, which emulates an exchange server hosting his data, so that he can connect over Wi-Fi with the phone and sync. This is a fully working program. However, whenever the computer's IP rotates (i.e. he moves from work to home) he has to reconfigure the program to run off the new IP. He understands this concept, but the phone is unable to locate the computer at home (using 192.168.2.3), while at work (192.168.1.112), everything works wonderfully.
Another issue is that the Gmail account we use for his incoming email gives strange errors at times. It's like if he's not connected to Wi-Fi, but 4G is working, Gmail is not connecting.
He was previously using a Blackberry Bold 9780, then a Storm2, and one of his main complaints was that he couldn't zoom in on attachments reliably without becoming unreadable. He also wanted the ability to edit items on his device.
So the question is this:
Does anyone know of a (mostly) hassle-free sync solution, that will cover his contacts (with all data), calendar, tasks, and notes, and be less of a PITA than Akruto?
I understand that USB is not an option to sync, as Microsoft (stupidly) denied that functionality in order to force usage of their Cloud services.
My situation is not the same but has similarities. I need to sync Outlook 2010 and One Notes 2010 to my Samsung ATIV S but cannot find anything working except the cloud, which I cannot use. What is the best way, USB, Wifi or just copy and past? Please help me our..
