what doesn't work on Owain's CM9(camera, hardware acceleration, ecc)?
Is it true that Nova HD can't play videos?
You cant record videos with the camera app, but if you download videocam illusion it works. Everything else works great.
And MX player works very well to play videos
And things in Owain's that do or don't work is the same in Nova HD.. because Nova HD is built on Owain's..

Why owain's ROM saves all my data to my external SD card and not to my internal memory?? How I disable this feature??

do u connect it as camera?try as multimedia transfer.
I connected it as multimedia. Btw i can copy files on it and if i disconnect then connect then I can still see those new files. It seems the problem only occurs with old files. I think I should recopy them somehow so I will see those too.

I should probably have posted this in Owain's thread, but I can't, don't have enough posts.
After flashing #39 I experience that Google Maps, Play and Music isn't working Process is stopping. Tried installing GApps again, didn't fix it. Went back to my nandroid of #36, but that didn't help either.
Uninstall the updates for those apps and see whether that fixes it

Camera work like normal to take pictures IMO.
I use Camera Zoom FX to take pictures, and it seems to work as videocam as well. Can't confirm that 100% yet..

I have read through the entire forum for CM9 and it doesn't say anywhere that flash won't work. So I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with any flash video playing in web pages. Yes I know that video HW acceleration is not yet working, but flash doesn't need hardware acceleration to run.
Can anyone tell me if flash is working for them?
Works for me. But don't play YouTube on HD. I haven't tried other sites.
yeah it works... bit slow ' also had to instal flash player 11 app from market.
I had to install Flash from market too... just like it was said before, don't try to play HD or if on YouTube or other flash video sites, don't click full screen either or it will hang your browser (at least for me on Dolphin HD).
Thanks
wow guys, I'm not that thick lol. I did install flash from market first and I didn't even try HD youtube. But thanks for the feedback. After re-installing CM9, everything seems to be working alright. I agree it does seem a bit slow. But it's ICS and that makes any bug or lag worth it in my eyes. After all, this is an Alpha 0.

Hi,
If you just want the apk and are still on stock, try using Titanium Backup to backup it or use a File Manager to get to the apk and copy it to the sdcard.
Look in /system/app/ for something called Blur.Gallery.apk for Moto's pic app and CMP...something for Moto's Music player. (CMP=Connected Music Player)
I'm doubtful these would even work under ICS.. so maybe try other apps..
Like DoubleYouPee said, QuickPic is pretty good.
For music, try CM9's player (I think the Droid3 ROM comes with Google's ICS music player by default..) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450354
Ok, So I just opened a nandroid of my last stock and here are the files I have..

Also take a look at TuneIn if you're interested in local FM broadcasts over WiFi/3G, I use it a lot lately..

My google music works fine. And does it really take longer to uninstall/reinstall then it does to make a thread and wait for a reply? Or does this happen often and you have to uninstall/reinstall? Cause like I said, Google Music has no problems for me. However, I'm using a slightly older version (4.1.512) that's was modded to be transparent - don't know if the newest version might have issues?
I'm using 4.1.513 with no issues.
Mine works fine, but i added my own music and only play music at home on wifi normally.Never had any problems with it not showing.

I would try uploading my local music to google music. You can them make your google music available offline as well.
Do you have a custom ROM? Did this problem start with an upgrade such as ICS? I have ICS on a stock, unrooted Vivid. The Google Music app is 4.1.513. As soon as I started it, it found all my local music on the SD card as well as albums on my internal storage I had recently purchased and downloaded from Google. I don't mess with streaming music, so if that is what you're doing, maybe someone else can help you.

Same sd card? If so try reformatting it (backup important stuff, format card, replace important stuff)

This happens to me, too. The easier workaround than uninstall/reinstall is to locate the Google Play Music app under Settings/Apps and clear data.
Then use the Google Music app and go through the usual stuff. Your local music files will be there when you're done.
I know it's not a fix, but it's a better workaround than reinstalling the app.
Guys,
So I recently, successfully, followed the [ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards thread to use CM7 on an SD Card on my Nook Color 1.4.2. Everything worked out flawlessly and everything seems to be working just fine.
I have the Original Nook OS running via Internal Memory (If I boot without SD Card); and CM7 running via SD Card.
One issue that i've run into is that my YouTube is not playing HD Videos. If I try to play any HD Video, I get the error..
"There was a problem playing this video.
Please touch to retry".
If I click the "HD" button on top-right corner to disable HD, the video starts playing just fine in SD Quality. All SD Videos play just fine.
I have not been able to play any HD video at all on YouTube.
The YouTube I'm talking about is the YouTube App available on the Google Play Store.
Is it just me or do HD Videos not play on the Nook Color via YouTube?
Thanks!!
Unfortunately it depends on the format the hd is encoded to... it is hit and miss.
One thing that MAY help is to install MX player and the codec pack for it.

Thanks for replying Dizzy.
I installed MX Player and it's codecs; I have to say that my actual MP4/MKV files are actually running pretty smooth & nicely in this player .... however, YouTube HD Videos still won't work.
I think what bothers me is that it's not appearing as a "hit and miss" with me; it's appearing as a total "miss" with me and I want to make sure it's not just me. Over the last couple of days I must have tried something like 30 ~ 40 HD Clips - absolutely none of them work - each gives the same message.
Could it be something else in my setup?
Thanks.

Ok - so basically HD Videos do not work on YouTube on the NC at all; that is fine, I think I just primarily wanted to make sure it's not just me or my setup. I know "HD" isn't really conducive on the NC anyways since it's max resolution is 854 X 480 ... it's not even 720p.
Thanks for clarifying.
Is there any way to modify the YouTube apk so that it won't play in HD? It's been getting annoying how it keeps trying to play in HD and just fails.

I'd like to know this as well.
Try the apk in the following link to play HQ youtube clips
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282736
Only problem is that Google play detects this as an old version and will try and update. You could always break the market link with Titanium Backup or similar program

A bit better than the lower res 854 x 480.

Try starting youtube app...
go menu... Settings... if High quality on mobile is checked... uncheck it... if it is unchecked... check it.
Mine is checked...
NOTICE: with it checked or unchecked... if you select a HD video... it will ALWAYS initialize in HD mode and you have to tap on the HD logo top right of video to avoid the error message.

I'm Running ICS and the only option in the Settings is to Disable HD over 3G, which the Nook doesn't have. Clicking the HD button disables HD playback for a Playlist but as soon as you leave the Playlist it defaults to HD again. Also HQ is also disabled if you Disable HD in the App. What I need is a patch for the Youtube app so that it thinks my Nook isn't HD capable as it's supposed to.

This was already suggested in this thread, but you can install an older version of YouTube that does not detect you are running in HD and it will play HD videos in HQ. They are decent quality and do not crash. But there is no tablet interface either. To keep play store from updating or bugging you, uncheck automatic updating for YouTube and tell it to not notify you of updates. Get the older version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17983409
It is version 2.1.6

I already know about that but I updated to CM9 to get the new ICS interfaces. I'd rather suffer the HD presses(Which are less difficult in the latest UI overhaul from Google) then Downgrade. I'm just expressing that I'd be interested if anybody wanted to try and patch it. I have nowhere near the coding skills to create a patch myself(I'm standing on Earth while the Skills are on Neptune).

Hi guys,
I updated my Nexus 7 to 4.3 today and I'm now no longer able to play my previously working video files. I've used both VLC and AVP, the file plays but I get sound only and no picture.
The thumbnails for the files are displaying correctly. These are movies in .mkv and .avi format which used to work with no problems.
Has anyone else experienced this and do you think it may be a 4.3 issue or perhaps an app compatibility problem with the new Android version?
Thanks.

It isn't just you. A number of video players are not functional with 4.3. All you can do is review them in the play store and tell them. I am sure most of the App Devs are probably aware of this, but who knows...
This also happened from 4.1.2 to 4.2, just wait a day and it will be fixed by app updates

This is true, but most were a couple of weeks to be re-coded, including MX Player. What is funny is that right after I installed 4.3, MX player and a couple of others worked for a few hours then I got the Unsupported Android Version. I thought that was rather odd...

Vplayer now supports 4.3
Videos in some games are tiny for me too, meh.
The stock video player still works of course, even for mkv files. Except no subtitles and it can't play hi10p.
Just found out I now prefer Vplayer to MX Player.
Ive always looked no further than MX cause I thought it was the best, now that Vplayer has had an update for 4.3 I tried it and like it very much. Very similar to MX but much more appealing.
