Hello people i hope you'll be able to help me and together we fix this problem
I've got a problem with my galaxy s. it seems like the CPU doesn't know to change it's frequences itself. If i power it on, the media scanner starts and the cpu goes 100% (1GHz) all the time. the problem is, that the media scan stops and even after 30minutes, the CPU still goes on 100% (1GHz) that's what the app 'cpu spy' and my battery life say. Then i found out that if i start music player and play some song for a while and exit the app, cpu spy shows me, that the CPU runs on 200MHz or 100 MHz all the time.
today i found out that if the screen is off it sometimes goes deep sleep, but as soon as i unblock the phone, it goes full speed again.. I don't know what causes that as i already removed and reflashed everything, the only app i have installed is CPU SPY
the history
the phone was bought, I was on official 2.2froyo , got bored, flashed to official 2.3.4 JVR , after half of a year a got bored again and flashed 2.3.6 JVZ , everything was just fine, but after 3 days i found something is wrong with my cpu, so i came home, fully charged it, and wanted to reflash 2.3.6 JVZ through odin, it failed and got stuck at boot.ini or something like that and I couldn't boot the phone anymore.. so i had to flash back the official 2.3.4 JVR with 512 pit file and repartition checked. It powered on and booted nicely(the only thing i'm happy of) and i hoped everything would be ok. but it wasn't so i went into recovery mode, wiped everything thanks to the 2 options recovery mode gave me, started the phone, reseted it to factory state again, I even formated the internal SD card and the problem still persists.
so to sum this up, right now I'm on I9000XXJVR 2.3.4
CODE_I9000XXJVR_CL425308_REV03_user_low_ship.tar (286 091 kB)
MODEM_I9000XXJVR_REV_00_CL1044379.tar (86 911 kB)
CSC.tar
watch?v=cLXQn0gOBuA flashed and guided by this video
and the only thing i have installed is Cpu spy, and it just cant get into sleep mode as it is always clocked at 1GHZ
Any ideas please?
I really don't want to flash 2.1 , update through Kies to 2.2 and send it for reclamation
Did you even flash a gingerbread bootloader in the first place?
Most of those issues exist because of having a wrong bootloader loaded for a device running different versions of android

Well, the CSC file was downloaded with the other 2.3.4 files and it worked ok 4 months or so. Just nowadays i have this problem
and phone bootloader update in odin was ticked off while flashing :/
Edit: How do i find out?
I reflashed 2.3.4 jvr once more today (repartition/autoreboot/F. reset time/update phone bootloader ticked off,| pit file, csc, modem, code) and the problem is still there,
when the screen is off, the CPU is in Deep sleep
as soon as I switch on the screen, the CPU runs on 1GHZ continually
any suggestions? :C

Are you running stock touchwiz launcher or not?
L studies slankse
Yes i do.
And for the instance you wanted to advise me to download another launcher, I've downloaded go launcher recently and the problem is still there - the mobile is in deep sleep only when the screen is off :| and when on, the cpu always does something:/
I have no idea then. With go launcher, i have realised the the app revs the cpu to full throttle on the homescreen when doing nothing.
Have you tried android 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?
if you want the bounce effect, 2.3.5 jvs also has it plus better battery life. Try it, i don't have cpu issues with this Rom.

Hey,
First off, let me give you some background of my problem.
I don't know the names or numbers of what ROM or Kernal I'm using, but if I said I'm running the official froyo version (I think it was the norweigan or dutch version?) that needed the registery hack that came out a few weeks back, I'm sure the people here can work out what I needed to get that done. Appologies for being so unhelpfull on this front.
I installed root the phone and installed the OCLF. Everything was running fine until today.
While I was just looking around in the OCLF app, I noticed there was a font item in the menu that allowed me to now use different fonts so I clicked fire it up. Then it said something about the lag fix not being correct (it only showed up for a few seconds) then the phone turned off.
When I switched it back on, my background was gone, half the widgets missing and it was unresponsive. I couldn't go into any of the usual applications like the app drawer and the contacts/messaging. The phone will vibrate at what to me is random intervals and then the screen will go black a few seconds after the media scan is complete. 8-10 seconds later it will come back on, straight to the homescreen and the process will repeat. I've seen this happen 4 times in a row before I pull the battery out so I'm assuming it's just going to be an endless cycle.
I tried doing a factory reset from the recovery menu but that did nothing. My plan was to install the new Official Vodaphone UK Froyo update, but not only does the phone not stay 'alive' long enough to do this, but I also can't connect it to the PC. So I can't remove the OCLF (as far as I can tell) and I can't put any new roms on the internal SD.
I can get into 2e recovery and download mode. I don't think the internal SD card has died, ebcause from what I've read, it would say something other than:
"appling Muti-CSC...
Installing Muti CSC"
Again, I'm just getting into this so my appologies if I've missed anything. If there's anything I can do to help you guys diagnose what's wrong then I'll be happy to help.
-Update-
After leaving the phone in recovery mode for about 3-5 mins, it changed to an exclamation mark in a triangle with a little green droid guy next to it.
Did you try to flash your SGS to stock with ODIN?
I guess it'll be the one and only way to go.
Try XXJPK, with repartition checked, pda, modem & Csc, using 512 pit file.
After that, you should be able to flash your favorite custom Rom.

Hey, thanks for replying.
I managed to get the *#1234# screen up last night.
It says:
PDA JP6
Phone JPM
CSC JP4
I looked on samfirmware and I couldn't find any firmwares with XXJPK with a 512 pit. Just 803.
Also, I thought that you only had to use one of the three when using Odin? Like PDA, Phone or CSC. Evidentley not, I just wouldn't know how to go about it.
I'll have a read while I wait for a reply
Thanks again.
Update.
Seems to be fixed. Flashed to XXJPK then XXJPM. Sorted :>
Hello there,
i have a europpean galaxy s i9000 with darkys 5.5 rom installed, and im not content with the battery drainage (except in standby with everything disabled it's ok). Previously on base jpu rom it was MUCH better: 1 hour of listening to music cost 4-8% of batterdrainage, with darkys rom it's already 20% and the back of the phone got really hot! (Same for 3g, wifi-usage and so on).
So my question: What is the best rom for least battery drainage?
my best configurations so far were the following:
-2.1 jm2 rom without lagfixes
- 2.2.1 jpu without lagfix/root/custom kernel, but with battery booster from the market.
I flash JPU 2 days ago,and i m not so happy with the battery,so i dont recomend it.
I'm about to try Darky's ROM as it looks like it has better battery life than stock Froyo
There are so many factors that effect battery performance and the individual rom really doesn't have much to do with it. Start with having the most accurate modem for your carrier and go from there. Pick a kernal that works for your application and watch your services.
Hello Friend,
I also used DarkyROM and others which included lagfix and finally i returned myself to the leaked version with XXJPU 2.2.1 Froyo and all what i have dobe is that i flashed the CF-Root trough Odin3 v1.3.
Now, i am more thna satisfied , as I entered in third day running the phone without charging !
All the time wifi is in background running as because of mail syncing.
I am not using UMTS network as i set in network settings just to use GSM, as I never surf from 3G and gprs will do I job regarding the mails.
All lag fixses as I noticed drain battery so fast , but anyway thanks to their Authors for creating them and making us happy with playing with this wonderfull mobile phone.

Hi,
By the leaked version, are you referring to the stock version available for download. Also what did you use as a modem, getting 3 day battery backup is amazing and I will not mind a little lag that the JPU has over darky's rom if the battery life is that amazing.
I have never got battery more than 24 hrs ever.
Regards,
Kailash

Hello friend,
I used this one :
I9000XXJPU ## 512.PIT Version 2.2.1 2010 December
Download is possible via :
Code:
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
And direct Multiupload :
Code:
http://www.multiupload.com/PUSOOBQ8K5
Disconnect Your phone from USB.
Put it in Download mode ( by pressing Volume down + Home + Power button ).
Run Odin3 v1.3 on Your PC.
Now connect phone by USB to Your PC.
Odin3 will recognize it by on one of COM ports.
when You unpack You have 4 files, 512 .pit file , csc, modem and pda file, load them in order :
512.PIT File
Modem File
PDA FILE
CSC File
Check under checkbox for re-partition. ( VERY IMPORTANT ! )
Wait that phone is flashed, after it boots, put it again in Download mode.
After that flash CF-Root 1.7.1 PDA file, with unchecked re-partition checkbox.
That is all.
Hello everybody.
I am having serious trouble with my phone and I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out.
I just bought my SGS 3 days ago. It came with android 2.1.1 eclair installed.
I had read that that version was not the best ( the first thing I saw when I opened the phone actually was an error screen, and the lag was horrible) so when I got home I decided to try and upgrade it using the official software for it (Kies).
Unfortunately Kies would simply disconnect my phone when I told it to upgrade, after which it would ask me to upgrade again >.>
So I decided to use Odin to flash one of the newer 2.2.1 versions.
I flashed a 'JS3' version with a repartition to 803 pit , but it crashed after rebooting with the dbdata error (which as I learned later was caused by not flashing a full firmware).
I flashed JPU after which worked great. It was fast and responsive.
However my phone kept crashing. Whether on standby, using apps, or just trying to dial a number, it would freeze, start vibrating, and sometime reset, other times just stay frozen until I force shut down it from the power button.
I flashed JS5 afterwards, with full cache clearing, factory reset etc. Still crashed.
Then I tried flashing Darky's 9.2 Ressurection. Loved it but I couldn't even set up my google account because it crashed constantly.
Then I went back to what I believe is the current official version for my location and carrier (Vodafone Romania), JP9 .
After flashing it didn't crash, but after a while (one night), it started crashing like crazy, even wound up with weird gray lines and a freeze in the morning.
I was hoping someone here might know what is wrong with it. I already sent it back to be serviced but I am thinking maybe I broke it somehow and would like to know how so I don't do it again.
The phone is network locked, which I later learned is usually a bad thing for flashing, unfortunately I didn't know about that when I started.
well first of you want to remove the network lock so try these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913681
next step is to register on www.samfirmware.com (its free) and here is where you will get all the latest official firmwares from samsung..
what you want to do is download (XWJS5) with all 3 files and PIT and flash that through odin with RE-PARTITION..
Before you do that, put your phone into recovery mode (volume up + Home button + Power button ) and do a factory reset / wipe cache ect...
so when you have done that and flashed the new firmware. let me know what the outcome is..
another thing.. ALWAYS MAKE SURE KIES IS CLOSED.... EVEN IN THE ICON TRAY... AND MAKE SURE DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE.
other than that you shouldn't have any problems
hi, thanks for the advice.
I already did most of that however. I did a factory reset numerous times, and I also did a full repartition flash more than once, to no avail.
I am waiting to get it back from warranty service now but I am wondering what went wrong.
Was it broken when I bought it or did I damage it somehow by trying to flash it while network locked ?
flashing with network lock wouldnt make everything force close. the worst thing that could happen when flashing with network lock is not picking up a signal and possible IMEI corruption.
i think you may have just flashed the wrong ROM, it happens to us all, but the more you do it the more experienced you become and you soon learn methods to restore things..
dont worry too much it will be fine when it comes back from samsung, just be sure to read up properly if you have any doubts.. or ask a question first you will get a reply quicker than you can Unbrick your phone..
My phone seems to hate the 803 pit file. Lots of force closes when I used it. Try using 512, see if that works any better.
Hi,
My phone i9000 suddenly started to do weird things!
It automatically free up all my memory few seconds when the phone goes into sleep.
So all the apps shuts down and free memory back to level same as when I 1st boot.
When I have a phone call and screen goes off I lose voice till I press the home/on key to turn on the screen then the voice resume.
I haven't installed any new apps except Google+
I tried uninstall it, same thing
tried rebooting with same results
I'm running Juwe's RAM Script
with Semaphore's kernel
Stock ROM JVH 2.3.3
I have NO Autokiller/Task killer apps installed
But I'm using the kernel and script for more than 2 weeks now
the issue started only yesterday... All memory get freed up when screen goes off..
Any advise ?
Thanks
I think its a bug for your modded ROM. Try install stock ROM and see will it do again.
I figured it out...
The latest Viber update is the cause of that issue..
As soon as I uninstalled it and rolled back to the previous version, everything back to normal ...
Hi guys,
I have an SGS that I bought last year in September. From what I understand, some batches from August-September can't enter download mode. I've tried pressing the 3 button combo(pwr-vup-vdown), and the 4 button combo(pwr-vup-vdown-home), and can't get into anything(recovery mode/download mode).
I've had z4mod until recently when I decided to try OCLF mostly because I had the kswapd0 cpu killer problem, and heard that OCLF fixes that. It didn't, but afterall I think I fixed the problem(install AutoKiller memory Optimizer and set the preset to Extreme. The phone doesn't uses the swap service anymore).
OCLF is A LOT faster on my phone than Z4mod. The problem is that it has serious bugs. I tried entering the dialer and dialing a phone number, and it exited out of the sudden. Same thing for contacts, messages. Sometimes it works fine... sometimes.
I can't have a phone that plays around when I have to make a phone call.
So I decided to give Voodoo a try. The problem is that if something goes wrong, I'm screwed because of the Download Mode problem. If something happens, can I still fix it without going to a service?
How failproof is the Voodoo Lagfix install procedure?
Should I do it? I didn't have any problems installing Z4mod about 5-6 times, and neither OCLF.
L.E. Phone details:
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband: XXJPP
Build number: FROYO.XFJP7
All you need to do is follow the instructions from here to force your SGS boot into DL Mode:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
I once encountered the same problem but fixed by this way.
Thanks ansonscleung! I just ordered this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fix-Downloa...ltDomain_0&hash=item20b7ae36dd#ht_2967wt_1158
It's more elegant than some resistors sticking out. I'll just go with Z4mod for a week until it arrives.
A whole world of custom ROM's just opened. )
I decided to try KIES one more time today, and it finally recognized the device! So now I'm running 2.3.4 XXJVQ! The coolest thing is that the download mode NOW WORKS! I installed the root kernel, and will try the Voodoo one tomorrow.
One last noob question: When are the installed apps deleted? When installing ROM's?
Will Titanium Backup help me reinstall them as they were if this happens?
Damn, I have to work these days, but I need to make time to play with the phone too!
