Opinions please on the best screen protectors available, I spend 8 quid on O2 ones and they are not very good. The cause air bubbles and are quite difficult to apply cleanly.
If possible can you supple the link to the suppliers. Thanks John
I'd be interested in this too. Also are there any differences between screen protectors for the XDA and XDAII ?
Thanks,
Rob.
well the place i ordered screenprotector from had both a xda1 and xda2 version so i asume they are not the same
I've used the same screen protectors I bought for my XDA on my new XDA II.
I use the PPCTechs ones I bought from Expansys. I especially like them because they have a matt rather than gloss finish and so don't cause as many reflections (the light scatters more). I also find that these are very easy to stickon without getting air bubbles.
One thing I have noticed is that on the XDA 2 the screen protector misses about 1.5mm of screen on the width, which is hardly noticable, but it works fine and this may be because of the way I applied it too close to one side.
I certainly would reccomend them (althought they are a bit pricy for what is effectively a piece of sticky back plastic)
Thanks Rudegar where did you get your's from ? Cheers John

well
www.pdashoppen.dk
but i'm sure you can get it cheaper from a
closer store with a lower vat
also i have ordered it but havent gottten it yet
seems they have issues getting it
which is good i think because my xda1 is currently stolen
and when the insurance pay me a bit i'm buying a xda2
so i would be in my best intrest if the xda1 screenprotector dont
get here untill i can change the order to a xda2 version
Here is the best what I used up to now:
http://www.pdascreenprotectors.com/
For XDA II you need HP iPAQ1940 model
Thank you I will check this out. I assume they ship to the UK? John
They are in Canada, but I am sure they do deliver to UK. Who wants to loose market?
This is the best screen protector that I've ever used!
I have not tried the XDA2 version but I used one on my Sony Ericsson P800 and it was very easy to install and since it's rugged and not floppy and flimsy like the rest it installs without bubbles and you can remove it, clean it and put it back on the device.
The screen preserves it's natural shine and colors, brightness and contrast remain as if you where not using any protector at all.
I loved the feel of the protector, it's not dull and it does not feel like paper, in fact it's it feels very slippery to the tip of the stylus.
May sound expensive, but they last very very long!
Here's the link: http://www.overlayplus.com/pda.asp#xda
Here's the specs:
Gloss finish
Our gloss finished LCD protective filter enhances color reproducibility and image sharpening by transfering more light and makes the screen brightly colored. Other filters with anti glare feature make use of diffused reflection instead to eliminate reflection. These sometimes cause lower color reproducibility which may result with a dull monochromic coloration
UV cut and 90% light transmittance
Our filters reduce the strain on your eyes by blocking 99% of ultraviolet rays radiated from LCD screens. In addition, our filters allow 90% of light transmition while protecting the LCD screen from degradation as a result of strong sunlight and other natural lights.
High Scratch Resistance.
Easy to apply
It is removable, durable, reusable and washable.
And a review: http://www.mtekk.com.au/browse/page525.html

Thanks Rayan this was very appreciated. I have ordered some and I'll wait and see what they are like....Thanks again John

The screen protectors from pdascreenprotectors.com are very similar. Extremely scratch resistant, and impossible to see if you install them properly.
I've always used the Expansys ones which are cheap as chips and do the job admirably.

I'm using it too....cool...its practically Invisible and smooth...but will get very thin scratches after a while...Martin Fields Rocks
I was using Brando for my Ipaq and its is scratch proof but the screen is slightly yellowish...dun like it so much....but it was the best then..
IMHO:THe best is Brando.
http://shop.brando.com.hk/index.php
Tomorrow,i'll receive O2's protectors and Brando for my qtec 2020,and i'll review them, and tell who is the best
i also used brando on my xda 1 and now have one on my xda 2
I have been using the boxwave protector and it is excellent
www.boxwave.com
Guys, if you are still using brando then you wanna try something like the G2s but definetly better...try Martin Fields...
They ROCK!
I know we had Brando Vs G2s a while back...but then Martin Fields come out with this protector and its best now....you wont regret it.
problem with a post like this i suppose is that
most people have only really used one brand of screenprotector
and if they are happy with it they are likely to feel that it's the best
got 02's protectors-wanna say, that they are not good.

great review.
One question, because to me it does make a difference.
Did you purchase these yourselves, or were they given to you as review samples?
Now, back to the matter at hand, Steinheil is definitely a great brand.

That is a fair question.
Due to the popularity of my youtube videos and website, I have been approached by MANY manufacturers and distributors to do reviews of their stuff. I have turned down 99% of them because I don't want to be a sellout. However, when I had a chance to get these screen protectors as review samples, I jumped on it, not just because I wanted quality items for myself, but I wanted to share with the rest of you my experience with items I really believed in.
In all honesty, I was probably going to buy either the matte one from Spigen, or one VERY similar made by a different company.

It's not grainy, but there is an obvious emulsion to the screen protector. Some people might have a fit over it, I don't mind it since now the screen isn't so glossy.

I like the matte because not only does it not show fingerprints but it also doesn't get sticky after playing a game. I'm using the matte now. These go on so great because they are thicker and thus tend to want to lay flat, so bubbles work out very easy. This was my first time using their rubber squeegee. I was skeptical at first and had a credit card handy but boy does it work great.
The screen has a different type of smooth with the matte. I like it. Alot.

I agree. Their squeegee was very nice to use. Made the whole installation easy. I did have a credit card off screen as well, just in case.

I bought this screen protector based on this review and I am very disappointed.
Once applied the Nexus 7 does look much better indeed, and the touch feeling is very pleasant and smooth. However, there is a quite noticeable noisy light diffraction that makes bright areas very painful to watch and are specially noisy (chromatic noise) in low light conditions. Said differently your eyes will suffer and your most likely to get headaches from this issue if you intend to look at the tablet for long sessions of reading and gaming.
I am baffled that such an obvious change in the screen rendition is not mentioned in the review.

I almost had it perfectly done. Huge corner bubble, not an air bubble, but like a good chunk of the lower half wouldn't wipe out. I tried everything, I was 2 seconds away from getting a perfect fit. Then I get dust artifacts, following that my screen appears to have been damaged. Now it doesn't even look smooth. The squeegee and sticker removals didn't do squat. Worse product of the year. Complete waste of time and money.
I have just installed the Ultra Fine and as usual, I'm very impressed with the quality of their screen protectors. The screen protector is made to cover almost edge to edge, which is nice. The finish is excellent and fingerprints are nonexistent as advertised. Personally, I don't have issues with the screen looking grainy. Its fine enough for me such that I don't notice the chromatic issues that are usually seen with cheaper matte screen protectors.
Overall a screen protector worth its price and very easy to install perfectly. I like it.

Hey,
I'm looking for a good screen protector for the SIII mini. Do you guys have any recommendations?
I have bought this case to protect the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057793 , but I guess a good screen protector is always handy..
Thanks!
Sven
I've heard some good things about this http://www.amazon.co.uk/disGuard-Anti-Reflective-Screen-Protector-Samsung/dp/B009P493TQ/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url brand of screen protector for a different device, but the front glass element is quite scratch resistant (Some places say it's Gorilla Glass, others that it's not). but I've tried scratching it with various metallic objects to no avail.
I think between that and the flip case, you're covered.
That's right no gorilla glass just a good scratchproof glass. You may not need a screen protector.

Thank you both!
Seen the price & the nice layout of the protector, I think I'll buy it anyways to be sure.. Worst case scenario, I could still throw it away if it's too ugly..
Sven
For those who are interested: as you can see on the attachment, the screen protector isn't as nice as shown on Amazon. It doesn't cover the whole front, however it's nice enough IMO..
The cover is matte, so it reduces visibility a bit. I don't have experience with matte protectors, but as I'm still able to use my phone at the lowest contrast, it's OK.
The protector is very easy to apply. It said on the packaging that all (small) bubbles should be gone after 2 days. Mine has 1 bubble, but as I look closely it's because of a very little hair.. Too bad that the bubble is 1mmx1mm for some dust of 0.1mm..
How about diamond screen protector? Is it available for s3 mini?. I saw my friend used it in his s2 and quite good. scratch proof.
Hello there possible saviour of headaches,
I've been browsing around for hours now through fake/legit comments recommending this or that product.
It seems as finding the perfect screen protector for this phone is a hassle, so my question is, of the ones that YOU'VE tried.. which satisfied you the most?
Please post pictures, if you have the energy to do so, on the current state of your screen protector.
Thank you for your time!
Ps. You may claim the title "saviour of headaches" after your contribution.
If you need protector not tempered glass
Buy from official site
I'm using this one https://es.aliexpress.com/item/ZNP-Vidrio-Templado-Para-Xiaomi-Redmi-4-4-Pro-4X4-Redmi-Nota-4-Nota-Pro-4X/32836035031.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.XaBkJF

3mk Arc (also 3mk Arc 3D if you need back/sides protection aswell), it's screen protector over whole screen (it's foil not glass, and yes it goes over the edges aswell), perfect fit it's not even noticable and it's not coming off anywhere, 0 bubbles and it has self regenerating coat..
I tried a lot of screen protectors including Aliexpress ones but they are all trash, all of them have some issues (mostly poor fit, or some weird color issues). But with this i'm 100% satisfied, im not looking for glass protector anymore. This is enough for scratch protection, for drop protection i have case..

Here you have video with 3mk Arc 3D (for different phone) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2phEqkGAAnQ
This is their official store: https://folie-ochronne.3mk.pl/pl/c/Redmi-Note-4-Global/1369 39,99 zł. is around 10 Euros.
I live in Indonesia. I know one trusted screen protector brand. The brand name is INDOSCREEN.
They have some type of screen protector with price range and technology which you can check on their website.
If this brand available to your country I suggest you choose their top line options. Mask premium series hybrid film model for instance. It's impossible to break, made from PET plastic - glass, absorbs low to medium impact, and delicate to touch, oleophobic coated too.
This black and red packaged product is quite pricey. But no compromise quality and lifetime warranty plus 3 times free changing sure is worth the money.
I think the main reason why we not getting a proper screen protector is because of the curved screen ... I hate that 2.5D glass screen. Life was much simpler with a flat screen.
And thats why you shouldn't use tempered glass on this phone but good quality screen film / foil with full screen coverage. 3mk is really top notch quality but feel free to look for some alternatives, i'm not looking anymore.
I use brotect mate since 1 years, perfect ! Find on ebay

My preferred across several devices now is the Nillkin Anti-Glare with Matte finish. It's up to personal preference, but they're the ones I like most. Every new device I migrate to, I purchase 2-4 of these for its lifetime. I like their visual acuity (not as "clear"), touch and feel, ease to clean, and oleophobic effectiveness.
"Nillkin Matte Mi5" will find it on ebay, AliExpress, etc. Check youtube for examples. Like with most plastic film, replace every ~6-12 months depending on your preference.
I´ve been using a no name anti glare foil from Phonenatic and does a good job. Bought on e-bay, a 2 pcs set was €2,40. https://www.ebay.at/itm/371815842272 and also have a 9H glass, this is okay as well. https://www.ebay.at/itm/372136883554
I use this: https://www.gearbest.com/screen-protectors/pp_1284329.html?wid=1433363 and i am very happy with it, it also has all the holes in the right position, so you don't even see and feel that you have it installed
I've tried plastic, wet install, and glass..... Glass was the best in terms of clarity but much more of a finger print magnet than the original glass underneath. And more reflective... The wet install one showed the spent marks.. At this rate I'll spend more on screen protectors than a replacement screen.... Please send your recommendations. Thanks

Feel your pain. I've done all what you have except for trying the glass ones.
Here is my experience. Get wet applied plastic one that is harder than the usual wet applied ones. A person on another thread recommend a Walmart Onn brand , I used it and it didn't leave S Pen marks at all. However, it was a ***** to fit correctly, so I being OCD I removed it and went back to the usual wet applied one again that does leave S Pen marks.
I believe Tech21 makes a screen protector similar in characteristics as the Walmart ONN one . Ain't tried that yet. But I can tell you that if the the Walmart ONN screen protector was applied correctly then I'd still be a fan.

So your criteria would be: best protection available without fingerprints, reflections, or s-pen marks? Might be tough without compromising a bit on one of those aspects. I've tried 2 cheap glass ones that I took off immediately, the Spigen film protectors that leave s-pen marks, and the Whitestone Dome which which was best for me of the bunch (no s-pen marks of course, and no fingerprint issues so far. Haven't paid attention to reflection issues as of yet). The new Zagg glass looks promising too...ymmv
I like Skinomi. You get some s pen marks but they go away overnight. I use the spen alot too, it's my preferred way to interact with the screen.
Go naked and live with it. I have been there, where you say to be and feel your pain. I just gave up and live with it. In case I really manage to break or badly scratch it, I will have to get a new one or live with it. All is better than the smudgy protectors giving a bad feeling to the touch and a bad view.

Beach and sand indeed is an issue. I do not live on the beach but was there last summer (S8+, no pen, easier situation) and was so glad to have a film protector on it.
Bite the bullet and get a Whitestone dome?
If I may offer an alternative suggestion? I did not even want to risk the screen protector lottery on this phone, so I took a different approach.
I have used a case with a built-in screen protector. I feel it gives me the best of both worlds; ultimate protection from drops and screen damage when out and about, and in a couple of seconds (when at home and the soft safety of my sofa), it can be out of its case and back to a slippery naked unblemished masterpiece.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/i-Blason-Galaxy-Note-Protection-Reduction/dp/B074W3WBVC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516792422&sr=8-1&keywords=i-blason+note+8
Cons:
Minor reduction in finger sensitivity at the edges.
Adds significant bulk, especially in width making one-handed use impractical
Screen protector picks up scratches after a few months
Wearing polarised sunglasses makes screen hard to see (rainbow effect)
Be certain inside of screen cover is clear of grit before fitting
Pros:
Zero reduction in S Pen sensitivity.
Phone is tank-like. Has survived drops onto solid concrete no problem.
Screen protector can be popped out and used just as case if desired.
Dust caps for charging and headphone sockets
Easy to take off and have naked phone
It all balances out IMO. It might not be a perfect solution, but it is mine and I am happy with it.
I would advise against it, especially in a sandy environment. It WILL find a way in and then have a party with your screen. Also, in my personal opinion, this is way too bulky.
Personally, I am using a pitaka case. I am also having a thin, blank film on the back because ofscrarch protecting the back.
i'm using the official one for S8+ and it's very good, the s-pen does not leave any mark
I have used all types and found my favorite to be the tech21. No sensitivity issues, screen is clear, no spen marks, and decent with dealing with fingerprints. I couldn't use another after using this one.
Wouldn't it be just nice if Samsung offered a factory glass screen protector as an option when buying these devices. I'm sure they are aware of customers concerns - surely they have the technology to be able to do this, albeit probably not financially viable hence no go.
