hi all
I will be rooting NC and installing CM on it. I already have rooted droid phone with gmail account. I have some purchased apps.
So I have a question.
Do I want to use the same gmail so I use purchased apps on NC or do I create a new gmail account for NC?
Thanks
I used mine from my evo, it has all my purchased apps showing as purchased and ready for download to my NC.

So do I need to change my B&N account to my droid gmail? I'm not going to run new ROM from sd card like others do. I'm just thinking straight forward droid on NC.
Your B&N login is separate, there should be no conflict. You can also have multiple Gmail accounts on a device if getting you mail is a worry. I use the same primary Gmail account on all my devices.

Your B&N account is only used when you use the Nook app. All other Google apps will use your Google account. Since you already have gmail on your droid, it makes sense to just register your NC with the same account. If you enabled using Google to sync your apps, it'll automatically download the same apps to your NC (where compatible).

I am sorry... but I have an market question too
When we purchase an app from market, are they linked to our checkout account or the primary account on the phone?
Initially I was using my work account as primary, as I need to use the work calendar. Now that FROYO supports multiple accounts for calendar, I am using my personal account as primary so that I can now use chat. However, I am not able to see any of my purchased apps. I am using the same checkout account.
The account you use on the inital setup.
Hi All-
I've run into an issue with the Market that I haven't been able to find in the various market oriented threads here.
I rooted yesterday using auto-neuter 12.25 & everything worked great. I can youtube, I have my google apps email account syncing, I can download free apps from the market, etc. Angry birds is a real treat on the Nook color!
My problem is with trying to purchase paid apps from the market. Like many report successfully doing here, I want to get Titanium Backup pro & use it to backup the nook to a dropbox account. When I try to purchase from the android market, I am told to enter/create a gmail account vs using the existing gmail apps account. I have tried re-entering the google apps account data, but I seem to end up in and endless loop where it asked for the credentials, I supply them, it accepts them, and then brings me back to asking for credentials.
Does anyone have any insight into this problem??
It is my understanding you should use an actual gmail.com account for the primary account on android devices. This is probably the source of your issue.
I managed to fix my nookcolor get 1.1 and autonooter 3 on. The market is downloading. Utube is streaming and gmail is synching. However I am not seeing the books I've previously ordered from bn and shop isn't loading. I assume I need to register it. Is there a way I can do that now? Or do I have to redo it all? I'm on vacation and don't have access to a PC. Any help would be appreciated.

i think you'd have to unroot it then register then root it again.
Yea. I'm in that process now.

process is fairly easy so you shouldn't run into any problems. good luck
After you restore stock ROM... register with B&N (preferred method is using gmail account)
Then use one of the root packs.

Why is gmail prefered? I have a BN account.
from rooting Pre-requisites
"Before rooting, you need to complete BN's registration process, you will not be able to link your NC to your BN account to buy books after rooting. If you've registered it before see Deregistering Color Nook on instructions on how to de-register."
Why de-register. I have a registered nook. Can I use a Auto-Nooter and still
retain the ability to buy books.
I never had a problem with a non-gmail account
I believe the reason gmail account is preferred is that it will also link to youtube.. gmail... market etc....
Even with your B&N account you can change the email associated with the account to a gmail.
You may never experience an issue using non-gmail account... but who knows what lies in store down the road.
I'd like to change the e-mail address I use to log into the market/play store. I created the account a long time ago, and have since began using a different gmail account as my primary email, so I'd like to be able to change it if possible. The thing is, I want to keep the contacts and purchased apps currently synced with my old account under the new address. Does anyone know if I can do this?
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
You can have more than one account and set up what you want to sync with each account so I'd just use both. I have several accounts. I sync mail on all and only sync contacts, calendar etc with one.
Not sure you will be able to do it any other way. But maybe someone else can help.

I think isn't possible to port market link from one account to another; maybe to only solution is to make a titanium backup of your data and try to restore after changing the account.
If you have TB pro you can try also to restore missing links of the paid apps you have.
If it don't work you don't lost anything 'cause you are working on an new "empty" account.
So :
- Make a TB backup of all your data and apps
- Remove your Google account
- Add your new account
- Restore data and apps
It should work.
Yeah there are ways around the fact, TB and syncing different accounts. Just wondering if there was an easier solution than I know
I'll just sync a couple accounts and make do.

you have to reset your phone
Does anyone know of an IMAP email app that is worth using? There seem to be a bunch out there that are all iffy from what I've seen. My college account is IMAP, and I can get the correct configuration settings from them, but first want an app that is actually decent. Paid apps aren't out, but a trial first would be nice, or at least a pretty perfect review.
Thanks!
I use K-9 Mail for my comcast accounts (2 POP3), gmail account (IMAP) and my college email account (IMAP). It is HIGHLY customizable and works great been using it for years.
I just use Gmail. I probably have 6 different emails linked to it. For my college, I just it forward a copy to my primary gmail account. Then again, my college email is gmail based.
Gmail DOES support IMAP and POP.

The built in email app supports imap, I use it for my university. Just go to accounts and add it from there.

I find the built in app to be just fine and it should do IMAP, unless you tried it and are having issues. I use the built in email app for my college, except we use an MS Exchange server and it works fine.
The above two posters have better ideas. My method was to do it all through gmail on my computer and have all my emails linked to my main account, then just have 1 gmail app reading my primary account, but that's sort of a security risk. If someone gets into my primary gmail account, they can see everything.

Slayer621, why not setup 2 factor authentication on your gmail account? Your phone can be a soft-token, that way it will be more secure. When it comes to my University, they want all emails to instructors/staff to go through your main Uni account, so that's why I won't route everything through gmail.

I was looking to do it through the stock email app, but running SD5.1 ICS doesn't have the option to add an email account. I'll look into K9, but I may be heading back to Mav4 GB here soon anyways where there may be a stock email app. Thanks! I'll be back with updates.
Kinda hitting a dead end here. I'm on Mav4 and using the stock email app, I added my email address and pw, then I hit manually configure and entered what I could find from the school (Univ. of Pittsburgh, http://technology.pitt.edu/Document...obile/Mobile Devices and Enterprise Email.pdf), but couldn't get it to work. I'll be trying K9 tomorrow maybe.
