thanks jellette, i love GB roms.
hoping for wifi calling...

Is there WiFi calling in this build?

I had to run one of the little ones to the dr. but I think when I get home I will be re-releasing this as the pure build with Blaze as a theme. The pure version is much smoother and is the base I actually plan to develop from.

Thanks jellette I am happy to see a gingerbread rom not many around these days every body is going ics glad to you will continue development of this rom hope it move up to jw4 with all the latest features. When I get home I'll Odin back stock and download this bad boy I was on ics but ics still have a long way to interm of getting everything functional so I am sticking to gingerbread once again thanks.

keep it coming man love your roms, beautiful wallpapers from the screenshots too

thanks man, nice to see you back.i love your works !

Looking forward to it!

hey jellete, thanks for keeping the vibrant alive...you keep doing this and i may not want to upgrade...but i have some questions, can this be overclock and undervolted or do it need too...and if so,what app can be use....thanks in advance....

the clock on the lock screen is distorted,
brightness doesnt work properly- auto is turned off and brightness set to high but after unlock the phone the screen is still quite dim

no problem man
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:19 PM ----------
is it possible for you to put a dedicated smiley button on the keyboard?
or is that not possible
testing: alright so clock on the lockscreen is good now, brightness is also good, the samsung MMM widget is showing with a different language, scrolling could be smoother

one s april 25 ish

Still having troubles smoothing JW4 out but I have successfully updated the base to JW3 and will get it out as soon as it is ready.

Thanks for the ROM. ICS ROMS seem too buggy still, and just aren't stable enough for me at the moment. Need more love for GB roms.

Jellette are you able to compile kernels? The Vibrant community has been in a desparate need for fast and stable touchwiz gb kernel with voodoo color and sound. Simply Talon worked great but he could never get GPS to initialize properly. It was super smooth at 1.2ghz and voodoo color looked amazing on tw gb roms.

I guess I'm going to have to learn or find a kerneler because I need a kernel for JW4 and possibly for JW3 since it isn't calling for gps. So I'm back to working from JW1 for the time being.

[ROM] DOUBLE RAINBOW [Alpha - Beta3][EDT][3.15.2011]

Gingerbread on VibrantDouble Rainbow Edition
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS BETA! IF YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT IS 110% FUNCTIONAL THIS IS NOT THE ROM FOR YOU!
This is the XWJV1 2.3.2 Gingerbread leak that was posted for the i9000. There are bugs and things you need to know. So PLEASE read the entire OP and if you are unsure of ANYTHING do not flash this and please move along.
IMPORTANT! - Please see this thread HERE before proceeding any further!
ROM MAINTAINERS
Whitehawkx
Demiurgic
THE FACTS
1. Voodoo recovery is included with the kernel, however you can not see it on your phone. However, you can install the program android screencast and view recovery on your computer.
2. Is OK to install coming from a Voodoo enabled rom.
3. If coming from a clean JFD install, you may or may not hear Linda's voice. You will sit at the double rainbow for about 5 minutes before it boots. It is converting to ext so do NOT do a battery pull!
4. ONLY THE KERNEL PROVIDED WILL WORK!!! DO NOT FLASH ANY OTHER 2.2 KERNELS!!!!
5. This comes pre-rooted!
6. Includes KB1 Modem
7. Only REAL issue at present is the GPS does not work.
HOW TO FLASH
Technically you should be able to flash this coming from a rom with Voodoo enabled. However, there have been reports of bootloop issues when coming from Voodoo enabled roms like CM7 or Bionix. Because of this I highly advise everyone to follow the flashing instructions listed below as they seem to be the least likely to cause problems. Thanks and enjoy.
1. Odin to stock JFD DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!
2. Place GB_DoubleRainbow_RC1.zip on your internal sdcard
3. Boot into clockwork recovery
4. Perform a factory reset (CAN BE SKIPPED IF YOU ACTUALLY DID STEP 1!)
5. Select the zip file and flash
6. Once it is finished rebooting, wait 15 minutes before doing ANYTHING!
7. NOW REBOOT AGAIN!!! (JUST DO IT!)
8. Once you complete the setup process open the app Spare Parts (included) and set Activity/Process Management to NORMAL. This helps with the RAM issue.
9. Open Settings>Display>Animations and turn on either "some animations" or "all animations" to enable the TV shutoff animation.
VOODOO
As stated Supercurio's Voodoo hacked kernel is included. There are a few things to be aware of.
1. You can flash this from RFS or EXT4 (RFS seems to be the safest and most reliable)
2. Voodoo is enabled by default.
3. During the conversion process you will see the double rainbow. Don't freak out. It takes roughly 5 minutes to convert and the phone will eventually boot like normal.
4. You may or MAY NOT hear Linda's voice during the conversion. Again, do not freak out.
5. If you do hear Linda, she will most likely sound like a chipmunk. DON'T FREAK OUT!
^^^DID YOU SKIP THE INFO ABOVE??? GO BACK AND READ IT!!!^^^

WHAT DOESN'T WORK [BUGS]
~ GPS
~ 3D games do not work. Gingerbread in general has issues with 3D.
**Battery life has been great for me. Phone seems to sleep normally as well with no CPU spiking.**
MORE NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION
1. When you reboot after flashing at some point you will see a double rainbow on your screen. This is normal. DO NOT FREAK OUT! This is due to the fact that this does NOT flash the boot.bin or sbl.bin.
2. You will get the double rainbow all the way across the screen when you sign into Google as well. Again, DO NOT FREAK OUT LIKE THIS GUY DID!
3. You must enable USB Debugging to mount to PC. If you do not enable it, it will try to connect to Kies.
4. FFC has been reported as WORKING.
5. If camera and/or video playback results in the double rainbow simply rebooting your phone should correct the issue.
6. There IS an issue with memory management. It is highly advised to run this rom at it's full potential you invest in some sort of auto task killer.
Demiurgic said:
Couple things
- No need to worry about the E: partition cache error when you first flash happens to me too. When you go back into recovery with androidscreencast you can see that it will wipe recovery with no errors.
- DO NOT FLASH CWM for NEXUS S this will break stuff. Nexus S uses cwm 3.0, supercurio's kernel is cwm 2.5. A lot changed; such as cwm 3 uses the edify/updater script so most of your cwm zips wouldn't flash anyways
- If you have had your filll of gingerbread goodness and want some froyo there are a couple ways to get back:
*flash thru rom manager( only if you really have to since you can't see whats going on but should work..maybe) or recovery with android screen cast
*ODIN back to stock. Note: the usb drivers seem hit or miss with this. If odin doesn't recognize your phone; go into control panel/devices and uninstall the samsung usb drivers. Pop usb cable out/in so pc will re-install drivers for you.
*Or flash a froyo kernel with working recovery thru odin or rom manager(should work but I haven't tested this yet). Pull batt/reboot then go back into recovery and flash rom
- Those having trouble flashing just make sure you got a good download. The only time I had issues flashing was because of a partial download and I didn't realize it. If you hear the chipmonk you should be good but if it hangs wait a few mins then reboot.

No, it's not in the Samsung kernel yet
As far as I know Samsung took a **** with their Gingerbread ROM.
ROM-problems/bugs/killed features:
-RFS filesystem still
-No optimization for CPU AT ALL (compared to Nexus S or CM7)
-TW3...not even 4
-No TV-shutoff animation
-Some apps are not compatible with this Gingy build (mostly games)
Now the Vibrant-specific bugs is my bet:
-Terrible battery (there isn't source for this so it likely won't be fixed soon)
-Wifi likely to not work (though likely fixable)
-GPS won't work (though likely fixable)
-Hardware keys messed up and/or not working (fixable with source?)
-Camera won't work (though likely fixable)
-Audio problems of all sorts (fixable)
Not to be a downer but without source to work with, there simply are too many bugs with this is my thought. Just one of these "bugs" is enough to kill it for me for using this...and there's a long list in here. Using this as a base to make a daily driver ROM is probably not happening without the source. And the source is not coming for about a month likely.
Not to mention Samsung just massacred some of the coolest user features of Gingerbread (TV shut off, CPU and speed optimizations).
But good to know amazing devs are working on this. Perhaps a source leak may change hearts. Either that or a new CM update that fixes battery.

Great info. I almost didn't post this because of pretty much everything you just said. But I did get a kick out of playing around with it and just thought I'd share.
I dont think any of the phones have source except for the nexus s. If other devs can fix their phones vibrant devs can fix these issues imo.

[ROM] Heathens SGS II Clone V2 [KB5] Updated 5/17/11

I was asked to do an SGS II clone. Here it is.
This rom is a one off deal and is FINAL. <---- It was supposed to be anyway...
V2 Stats and changes from V1:
KB5 Base
cmenards awesome Bullet Kernel - Disabled by default
This kernel includes the following:
Ability to OC to 1.420Ghz
Safe boots to 1Ghz
Voodoo Sound v7
Voodoo Color
Voodoo Lagfix
CIFS
Use setCPU to enable the 1.420Ghz step. Please DON'T try to set screen off profiles below 800mhz on this one. Don't select set at boot unless your really sure it's stable on your phone. Make a backup of you existing kernel with SGS Kernel Flasher. Blah Blah Blah
Recommenced SetCPU profiles:
Main 100-1420/conservative
Charging 100-1000/conservative
8 Lockscreens mod by Whitehawkx
Extended power options - 4 tab by default, Miui rethemed as Meizu M9
Reboot, download, recovery images from Lidroid.
EDT Tweaks
All other theming from SGS II - Apps, battery, pulldown etc.
SGS II Live Wallpapers.
SGS II boot animation and sound.
Wifi-calling and non blurry mms with smilies.
TW4 mod by Whitehawkx
Several new live wallpapers
Mostly de-bloated.
Fixed clear all button along with several other minor bugs
Replaced handle with non-dropshadow version
Install:
Optional: Start with a fresh ODIN
Download SGSII.V2.Final.zip and save to your sdcard
Boot into recovery
Factory reset three times
Wipe Cache Partition
Flash SGSII.V2.Final.zip
Wipe Dalvik
Fix permissions
Reboot
It is preferable that you give the phone 15 minutes before digging in and then reboot.
Notes:
Rom has been designed with all of its components in mind.
The kernel was chosen specifically for this rom, and the system has been optimized to support it.
Titanium sucks in my opinion, so be careful with what you will restore - even if you have done it 1000 times, you may break the system.
Rom is supported and runs best the way it has been built, changing the kernel, modem, etc.. will change the system - you are on your own from that point.
I have not experienced it but some say the launcher may crash at reboot, if it does then let it sit and choose force close and let it reload.
Please do not report a bug that is already reported on every page.
Please read this OP and the thread, if the question you are asking has already been covered, you can expect for no response from me.

I guess its not really a hijack since its the same dev team...
(Well, they haven't made a specific thread on XDA yet)
But the "Asgard" Rom over on the EDT forums is also worth a checkout. (For the SGSII Flavor of the month goodness)
Played with it for a day and seems to be very nice as well.
(Though its actually GB, so theres some stuff to iron out - ie gps)
Twiz 4.0 is actually pretty nice (imo)
Though I still like a scrollable dock

Yes, Asgard is the real deal. This is a clone. Made to fill a request. 2.2 is on its way out so you shouldn't expect too many more builds from it. I do highly suggest Asgard for your GB rom.

A lot of people need GPS on a daily basis and this is where this rom comes in. I can't wait to give this a try, I was never a Touchwiz fan but 4.0 is pretty shiny. When drivers for the GPS are finally released and we start seeing working GPS in GB roms then I'll make the permanent switch over (I've just used GB roms for short periods at a time). Until then, I'll be using this and other 2.2 and 2.2.1 roms.

Until then, I'll be using this and other 2.2 and 2.2.1 roms.

Agree. My opinion is of the same.
One question: "does this ROM support front facing camera?" Thanks.
Is the download link broken.? Or is it because I'm on my phone.

I like that wall paper a lot any chance you could post that?
Looks good. I was wondering what the Android UI and TW UI looked like? Still the glossy blue that Tmob uses, or the darker blue that the SGS and SGSII use?
is this flashable through cwm?

[ROM][AOSP][2.3.5] NoFrills-AOSP

This ROM was created by 'ngiordano' at Simply-Android
I do not develop this ROM. Do not PM or contact me about making changes.
Please thank him over there (or here, up to you) for his efforts
Donate to ngiordano here!
I can't be the only person here who has been watching, waiting, and hoping for an AOSP ROM for the Vibrant. Just something that's fast, smooth, and just works. So when I saw mindstormmaster1 post this thread in General on the NoFrills AOSP ROM a couple weeks back, I was quite excited. I've been using this as my daily driver since then, but I figure the proper place to inform the Vibrant community of its existence is here in the Development section.
So, to share it with the masses, here is ngiordano's NoFrills AOSP for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant T959:
Built from Gingerbread source with some CyanogenMod tweaks added. I used Vibrantmtd device folder from CM for the compatibilities and fixes. This ROM is very fast and stable.
Features:
- My very own kernel (details below)
- AngryGPS for fast GPS lock
- No-Frills CPU Control
- OC to 1.3
- Voodoo sound
- BLN (No app required)
- Updated Rom Manager
- File Manager
- Theme Chooser with 2 additional themes
- Additional wallpapers
- But overall simple settings and functionality
If you are coming from a 2.3 ROM:
- Enter CWM recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, and Install
- Reboot to system
Currently on 2.1 or 2.2 samsung roms (stock or custom):
- If you don’t have CWM recovery, Download Rom Manager and install CWM recovery
- Download Odin from here if you don't have odin already and GingerBread Bootloader
- Load GBL in PDA, click on bootloader update and reset time. Nothing else.
- Once odin says pass with a green bar, pull battery.
- Enter CWM recovery, wipe data/factory reset.
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, select the ROM and Install
- Reboot to system.
If your internal storage reads 0 MB after install:
- Boot to recovery
- Wipe Dalvik
- Re-flash ROM
- Fix permissions

New Kernel
http://www.multiupload.com/EG07T8S6GX
Glitch kernel was giving me issues like freezes, and the inability to use the external SD card.
I compiled this with many goodies
- SD card now works
- BLN
- OC to 1.3 GHz (Unstable anyhigher. Still very responsive)
- Usable governors (SavagedZen, smartass, interactive(X), conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, performance)
- Voodoo sound
- CWM 4.0.1.5
- Plus many other goodies
- Also works on CM7 and MIUI. (CM7 governors do not stick after sleep. VibrantMTD CM7 issue.)

And on a personal note, I installed an FFC on my Vibrant, so I've been using this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17277942&postcount=37
and this file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QDC947A4
for a very good, working FFC.
There are no 4-image issues, the FFC is rotated correctly, and full 720p HD recording works as it should.

built from AOSP. CM7 for fixes.
No ****ty themes.
No extra lockscreens.
No replaced icons.
No TW touches.
No additional crap.
Not AOSP"ish".
Not starting from CM7, and then themed to standard AOSP.
Not JVQ with a gingerbread launcher and "removed" apps.
Please read.
This is as stock AOSP as I have ever seen for the Vibrant - without any of the bloat BS from CM7-sourced ROMs.
This performs identically to my Nexus S 4G. Working GPS. No lag to be found. Smooth as butter. Oh, and 911 dialing works.

so will CM7 kernels work with this ROM? like Bali for CM7?

It's quite clearly stated in the quote that this is not pure AOSP. It is, however, as close to AOSP as you're gonna see for the Vibrant. This is not built from CM7 source like the other "AOSPish" ROMs in this section. It is built from AOSP first, and has CM7 tweaks for stability or GPS to make the ROM functional.
That said, if you can find a "more" AOSP Rom for the Vibrant than this one, I would sure love to see a link. Until then, practice those reading skills.
And if you don't like this ROM, don't download it, and don't install it. Keep waiting for that "real" 100% AOSP ROM that - as yet - does not seem to exist. I'd know - i've been looking for a simple, stock, AOSP Rom for the Vibrant since this phone was released last year.
Ok ! But Why default lockscreen is rotary ? (-> CM7 source)
AOSP lock isn't present because, CMparts.apk is absent..

Disable voodoo?
nevermind
a quick question..
as someone pointed out, GAPPS didnt install properly, it just installed market, and never asked to log in with google account and thus i guess my sync isnt working properly, i have to manually refresh gmail and cant get FB sync to work, on which i heavily depend for getting contact info, any one facing similar issues?
apart from that, i have to say, battery life is amazing, i am using bali 2.2
Does this have the notification bar shortcuts?

Tweaked Kernel v2
Work well on 1.9.23, 1.9.30 and CM7 nightly builds. Need Feedback.
Dont forget to read review from link at bottom of post if using CM7 builds.
Features :
Original Upgraded & Latest Kernel Base & its features (with UV/OC) --> Battery Saver Kernel
Juwe's Tweak --> Best RAM optimization - best balance between free memory, multitask, speed of launching apps and system speed
Darky's Zipalign --> Zip Aligning Files
Loopy Smoothness Tweaks (On Testing) --> Smoother Response & Less Delay while unlocking, notification pulldown, etc
Voodoo Support
FFC Support (EXPERIMENTAL)
What To Expect in Next Versions :
GPS Tweaks <== Couldn't work on these for v2 since 1.9.30 came out early and FFC experimentation began.
More Optimization Scripting
Better FFC Support
Steps to follow :
Reboot in Recovery Mode.
Flash this zip file, it takes care of all.
Reboot.
> Most of the Tweaks are already added to 360 Productions Released ROMs.
> This kernel is NOT coded by me, and is only for people who would like to add tweaks with original kernel taste.

What was your previous kernel? Did you reboot your phone again after feeling warm? I faced this same while on Glitch Kernel. The lithium build had Glitch Kernel and I wanted to switch to Atinm's build, hence this release. Everything working quite good this side.
EDIT: Here are screenshots of system info from my phone, I believe battery life to improve with calibration cycles.
some gps fix on the next build makes me excited.
and here i share you something about vibrant GPS. as you know, even if replacing the gpsd and changing settings by angrygps.apk, vibrant GPS works randomly.
i am now aware that only if gpsd is appeared in the battery-consuming list(settings-system-battery-battery use), GPS works well!!!! BUT the dilemma is that gpsd don't launch every time you boot your phone.

Need feedback which version is better since both version have different files.
Please read OP carefully before flashing.
Hey neobuddy,
Glad to see a new updated kernel around here
So if Im not mistaken, the original kernel is the kernel atinm was creating correct?
Also, what would you say has the best battery life for CM7? And will these kernels give better battery life than the kernel that comes with CM7?

Nope, this kernel is based on MIUI 1.9.30.
I just added changelog, maybe that will solve some of doubts.
I am testing CM7 Builds and kernels.
Will report back and introduce if any better findings.
I just reflashed v2 tweaked and I still don't get screen v1 gamma hacks and the screen is dim at full brightness. I am using the new 2.37 cm7. I am back to Neo17r16 and the screen v1 gamma hacks shows up and works properly with no brightness issues.

CHANGING KERNELS THE MOPEDRYDER WAY!!
I like to run the I9000 JW1 kernel but need GPS at times. Here is the easy way to change out kernels on the fly.
Run the SGS Kernel Flasher program installed (allow root)
--Select the kernel you want (Ive loaded 4 for you)
When you need to flash a different kernel run the program, select the kernel you want, and flash. It will reboot automatically with new kernel.
==========================================
Notes:
V9 - Ive only ran this for about 1/2 a day now. No gotcha yet and it seems real smooth.
I am not a developer. I don't do smali. Use at own risk and by now your warranty is shot anyway . Ive used it for about a day with no issues so far. GPS is iffy. I did not test BT due to the fact I don't use it. If anyone cares to redo this port and make it better by all means. Ill just remove the links from here and point to yours. Id did it to learn how to port ROMs. Since it worked for me I thought Id share.
Also - You may want to use the Talon or I900 kernel instead of the Bullet. That way you may avoid the 30% reboot bug. Just have the Bullet kernel handy for GPS needs. I use the SGS kernel flasher .apk for that purpose.
Does 911 / E911 work? I don't know - use at own risk. It should work seeing its a Samsung base ROM
Install Instructions:
DO NOT FLASH FROM ICS, MIUI, or CM7 - must Odin to Stock (or Lidroid)first
If on a 2.2 or other I9000 Ginger ROM:
Make sure you have the GB boot loaders
Factory reset / Clear Cache + Dalvik
Format /system in mounts
Flash
Fix permissions
Boot
wait 10min
Reboot
Profit !!!

Works good for me (for a Ginger ROM). Remember to try the GPS instructions in the OP
Angry GPS settings >> GPS Aids >> FasterFix >> Reboot
Reboots on app installation
Almost every time (every time but once) that I go to install an app from the Market or restore from Titanium Backup the phone reboots. I reflashed, got the same behavior. I then flashed the I9000 kernel and attempted to restore an app from TB and it rebooted.
I'm seeing this behavior with both launchers.
Odd. I have had no issues. Try to clear cache+ dalvik and fix permissions. Anyone else have this issue?

When i try to 720p it says, Sorry, This format is not supported.
I flashed a simply honey ROM last night and it behaved itself well enough. So this morning I wiped, cleared cache, cleared dalvik cache, formatted boot and system and reflashed the JetPack ROM.... and I can install apps without the phone rebooting. I had wiped before I reflashed last night, but I didn't format boot and system.
I had been running NeoBuddy's ICS Passion Beta... and it took several attempts and over an hour (once it started running) to Odin back to stock before I flashed Jetpack last night.
I don't know if flashing Simply Honey cleared the issue, or if formatting boot and system before I flashed Jetpack fixed it.
... and now to play with this shiny new ROM....
Are you gonna add more lockscreens? I like the 4-tab one...
