I've tryed SuperOneClick, Esteem and Gingerbreak without any luck. None of those seem to gain access to root files.
I dont want flashed ROMs, I got official 2.3.4 (V20A firmware) update and just want to get root access to fix the button lights and some other stuff.
Please Help, Thank you!
(and Yes, I searched this forum without any luck)
If you have searched and not found, it is not prompting you to think that this is not possible?
It is possible, just that he doesn't know how to search properly.
Trolling in the deep
I do think it is possible, but this firmware has been recently released so there may be less people asking about this.
Search for cwm injection method. This should also work with p970h

You can also inject the official updater. You dont need r&d tool, just select the other process of lg updater tool. Then you get root with the same method. Or flash v10a with smartflash, root it with gingerbreak.apk and then install a custom rom. Thats probably the easiest way.

I got Optimus 2X SU660 ( Korean version ). When I try to optimize it, I deleted system file.
Now
- it still can boot but I can't restore.
- I restore using nvflash ( of P990 ) but can't touch anywhere, only volume and power button worked.
- I installed CWM but don't have .zip firmware file.
- Now I have .kdz and bin firmware. I try some method of other LG phone but unsuccessfully.
Please help me! Tks in advance!

Hi. I live in South Korea and had the exact same problem as you with the SU660. I even had a backup made of my original rom which when restored using CWM would be stuck in a bootloop. I ended up taking my phone to the LG service center and they restored my phone to factory default settings. Perhaps you can do that at a LG service center in Vietnam. The only other solution I can think of for you is to continue using the ROM you have and install a program like zmooth or button savior to simulate your home, menu, and search buttons via the touchscreen.
If anyone has any idea how to flash a .bin or .fls version of O2X firmware onto the phone, I would love to know too! Thanks!

Thank you very much! I used zmooth for 2days ( work well ) after try soft menu ( same my Nook Color ) but failed.
I also will try to contact LG Vietnam.
Now, I try some method for kdz file because there are some guide relate it from GT540 or P500. If I can do, I will show you.
Newest idea I will try: edit function key. Maybe the main difference between SU660 vs P990 are hardkey vs softkey and layout.
Could you share your firmware backup? Maybe I made some lucky.
And could you share me your files in /system/usr/keylayout ?
Tks!
Check your PM
Thank you! I will try and report back.

I know how to restore your phone to life. I think that if you have .bin firmware method is same that in LGP990. Use LGDP2_V42, your model.dll and .bin firmware. Also read my topic (Here we go again) in optimus2x forum.

I'm trying to do!
Update: I don't have SU660 .dll file and tool on slide 17, 18. So I can't try it properly. This method maybe the best solution for now.
Now I restored V10Q - newest version. But still something to do

No! I used LGMobile Update Tool after install full driver. This tool automatic download newest firmware, flash to phone but phone still boot loop. I copy all of extracted files ( during Update Tool flash phone ) to another folder and use nvflash to restore.
Is your phone fully functional now? I hope so!
Hi Zanr Zij
I've got myself into exact situation as yours and I also used the LG Support tool to upgrade my SU660 to V10Q but the phone just show the "LG" screen then black out.
If you managed to get the phone up and running, please share some information. I'm kinda desperate here >.<
Thanks and best regards.
Hello,
I got a LG OB P970H, i tried rooting using superoneclick and gingerbrick, both failed rooting my device.
Is there a problem with it beeing "H", or 2.2.2?
Which version is it exactly? V10x? Whats the X? some versions contain patches.
But simply search BlackJack and give it a try, I bet I'll do the trick
Since u thanked, i think it worked, but pls always leave a reply, so others know if it worked or not

anybody can help ?
i have the same problem i update my phone with LGMobile Support Tool and now i cant root-it i try many metods super oneclic, Injecting CWM into any kdz update, Gingerbreak nothing works model version LG-P970 android 2.3.4 kernel 2.6.35 build number GRJ22 software version LG-P970-V20f can help please?
up
Injecting works when done right, you have to boot into recovery and flash superuser to get root.
Your next method is grab smartflash and the files provided and use that.
The answers are there, keep at it.

I used "Unlock Root" PC application to root my OB V20E... and it will install a CWM recovery automatically.
Make sure you have Android SDK installed and ADB drivers.
But if you have installed the LG Drivers for your phone it will work just fine.
Check on it here...

I followed this link but i used the v20E firmware for flashing and it went through with no problems. My friend's OB is now rooted with CWM installed.
I believe this is the only way to root successfully any new firmwares of LG. By Flashing... I guess I was just lucky in Unlock Root on my v20e.
It depend on the rom.. every version have different root strategie to be done

Yeah.. i think, look for the v20n rooted.. u can find it on this forum or google it : "rooted v20n" or something you will find an independent page with something V20n[patched].bin and another data (forgot it) and u flash them

fls file , right ?
Or you guys have a look into my noob how to, cause there is a general way of rooting, although the unpacking is already being done automatically meanwhile by the extract program. So you only need to set up a virtual Ubuntu follow the instructions, flash it, install superuser and you have made your own custom rooted firmware.
Have fun
hey guys!
i was wondering, can someone do me a huge favor and run Lg Flash Tool on the new ICS Rom and somehow attach it to this site?
Much appreciated if you can!

I think you have severely misunderstood the directions.
One does not simply flash a ICS ROM from any other version.
Why won't LG Flash tool work for you?

If it's asking for login, you have to do step 2 from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17177547&postcount=2
2.Extract "file.zip" and put "LGFlashTool.exe" to location where you installed "Setup_LGFlashTool_1.1.zip" (default: C:\LG\LGFlashTool\)
This replaces the orginal installed LGFlashTool with the special version from file.zip
Umm ...can you just upload the final file you used with cwm recovery?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
It doesn't work like that. You CANNOT flash an ICS build from froyo or gingerbread. You MUST run the LG Flash tool following the steps provided in the other sections to the T. If you aren't very comfortable with doing this stuff yourself I would advise you to remain on Gingerbread. You will most likely end up with a bricked / worthless phone if something does go wrong and you don't know how to get it back. I the thrill development section you will find a very lengthy and discussed guide on upgrading. As I said though, this is at your own risk and there is no possible way for us to upload anything for you to flash. You connect your phone and flash ICS using the LG FLASH tool.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
wait....i was able to install 10 different zip updates....such as prometheus, thriller, etc. is there a way to get the ICS rar file like that?
No. That's what I'm saying. You can flash gingerbread ROMs on gingerbread all day long, but you cannot flash an ICS ROM while you are on gingerbread. Especially this phone. The ICS build is ported from the Korean model of this phone and has different partition sizes than a gingerbread/froyo ROM would need for the thrill. LG Flash tool is the only way to get ICS on this phone. You must first flash XBSALL's ICS build with LG Flash tool on your PC. From there you can root and install recovery and flash other custom ICS ROMs, but not until you first flash on your PC using the guides in the Optimus 3D Development forum.
The only reason I'm taking the time to re-explain this to you is to prevent you from flashing an ICS ROM and possibly bricking your phone. Its pretty buggy still and not something a novice user should attempt. I spent at least 3 1/2 hours in a panic trying to fix my phone after flashing ICS over with LG Flash tool exactly as I was supposed to. It doesn't "just work", you may have to work for it.

UnlockRoot is free, as I'm still using it whenever I need to flash stock ICS... :S
perhaps it was free? unlockroot[.]org
i did install it and keeps asking me for a serial number...
after some more searching i found a 4shared archive with unlockroot v2.3 that worked and didn't ask for any serial. :good:
although, yet i have a confirmed root access, i can't seem to edit the phone's ringtones (tried to copy a couple of ringtones in its default device folder and keep getting an error)...
