If he was on Froyo or Gingerbread I suppose he didn't asked for something similar to SpiritFM because he would simply use the stoc FM Radio. I believe he is on some ICS custom/ported ROM.
Unfortunately I don't know of any other alternative than SpiritFM for our phone.

Its not possible without a internet streaming connection, seen as Android doesn't give out the API's for the FM Radio and RDS.
How did SpiritFM destroy you're speaker may i ask?

actually im using ICS 4.0.3, Custome ROM which is not supported Stock FM radio apps.
This Spirit FM did kill my speaker, i dont know how it kill, but it just killed same like other people as well T_T

SpiritFM can kill an i9000 speaker, but not always. I'm using it on an SGS with zero problems. Also, today the developer pushed out a new update on Play that should hopefully fix it.
One thing I did to *try* to minimize chances of blowing my speaker/headphones on first launch of Spirit was to manually toggle Voodoo Sound to -36 dB. This may not have done anything, or kicked in a little slow -- I think it was louder for a split second and then volume dropped off quickly. But from what I gather, if it doesn't blow your speaker right away, then your i9000 is one of the safe ones.

[Q] Record From FM Radio on Samsung Galaxy?

Hello All, Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to record from the FM radio on the Samsung Galaxy. I have one and I would like to use it to record from conventions I go to where they broadcast the audio on short range FM.
I had a look in the app market and there are apps for recording from internet radio but I can't seem to see anything that will record from the radio on the device itself.
I had a look at the stock app and that doesn't seem to have the option... Any Ideas?
Can anyone tell me how to record FM radio when I play the FM radio?
Any app?
Any hacking guide?
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000, running Android 2.2.1, Darky's ROM 9.3 with speedmod 500hz and rooting.
Someone suggested to use tapemachine, but it not working.. After starting FM radio, then go back to the tape machine, an error message appeared:
Unable to open audio input
Please try to close other audio applications, and ask for support if that doesn't help.

After that, I try play the FM radio first and then run the tape machine. The same arror appeared.
I hope, who have developing the call in/out recording can develop this function too.

Killer feature for me: FM Radio!!!

FM Radio development is missing! that's a killer feature, i use it every day in wm
second that!
For me, personally ... after I got new toy, my Xperia will be just an FM radio .. an expensive FM radio ..;-)
I do not need Camera or GPS because my Xperia will be staying put on the table to listen to radio and receiving messages from Skype messenger (always connected to WIFI).
But I think someone can get other HTC FM radio Android application and use it in Xperia .. please someone get that for Xperia, thanks.

yea, in italy free wifi wasn't legal until 2011, wifi and 3g coverage is really poor, 3g dataplan are very expensive and not for rechargeable SIM (in italy we don't use subscriptions)
FM radio, is free, and works everywhere!
I think that FM APIs are still unavailable to 3rd party developers.
I dont know how is this dont for xperia but this is the way on htc desire... :
Click / tap on the arrow to the left of the phone on the main screen and you will get a list of applications.
You have the FM Radio icon in row 4. Tap on it and listen to radio. Do not forget first to plug some headphones (any they do not have to be original) .
Maybe there's another phone that uses the same FM chip and for which there's working FM radio app?
I agree - FM radio support is essential. Without it users who would like to listen to the FM radio still will be forced to switch to WinMo.
Not everyone has Wi-Fi access to use TuneIn Radio and not every FM station has streaming broadcasts.
Motorola CLIQ XT is Android smartphone which has FM radio and uses MSM7201. Maybe someone could port it's FM radio app to X1?
i tryed to port libs and FM Radio apk, but it doesn't work , i tryed many other apsk, but still no luck
Just keep trying, please. There must be a way to make the radio work.
Download applanet that have fm radio apps.

CM FM Radio... Only mono?

Big fan of ya'll for a long time... Just decided to sign up and ask a question:
I installed CM7 for the first time, mainly because I wanted FM Radio on my N1. I'm disappointed to find out that the sound comes out from only one channel (right side, mono only, no matter what the setting).
I researched heavily but couldn't find a similar post. Am I the only one experiencing the FM Radio sound coming out of only one earphone?
BTW, all other features are working perfectly...
My radio is 5.08
hboot is fully updated
I'm using one of the CM7 nightly after the RC1
Thanks!

I don't know whether it provides stereo or not as I don't listen to music at all when I turn on radio. But I do have sound from both sides.

Thanks for your feedback... Definitely, the issue is that I'm getting sound out of one side (right earphone) only... I tried multiple headphones, including the original N1 headset... All the same, sound comes out of one side...
Not sure what the issue is. As I mentioned, I researched a lot and no one seems to have this problem... Everything else on the phone runs perfectly.
bump
Still, after format and full wipe, re-installed CM7 RC2, and FM Radio still comes out of one (right) earphone.
Working great here. Audio is coming out in stereo. If you click menu in the Radio app, then settings, under audio output mode there is a setting for stereo or mono.

I've tried everything... Nothing seems to work, sound still comes out of right earphone only...
I'm still baffled as everything else on the phone works perfectly... I've wiped (data, dalvik) and formatted partitions, fresh installed the ROM... Still the same issue... It must then be a hardware issue... My radio is 5.08... Does that make a difference??
Just want to be sure, did you test playing music through the normal music player? And both sides work through that?

oh yes, definitely! Sound from music player is perfect, can't ask for better... I even tried different sets of earphones, including the stock N1 earpieces... As I said, everything on the phone is working perfectly except for the FM Radio... I don't even get the wonks everyone is complaining about.
I know this is a hopeless case as I seem to be the only one with this problem...
Did another full wipe (system + dalvik), plus formatted the partitions... installed CM7 rc3, fresh and clean... Still, I can only hear the FM Radio sound coming out of the right earphone...
Oh well, I'm figuring it must be a driver/hardware issue... Since it's basically the bluetooth unit transmitting the sound, maybe my N1's BT is purely mono (or somehow stuck on mono (?))...

[Q] FM Tuner Bionic JB 4.1.2 [ROOT]?

Hello Everybody,
I have scoured the web in search of a working FM Radio Tuner for my Droid Bionic runnning 4.1.2. Unfortunately they have decided to pull support for the FM Radio in the Bionic, which really doesn't make any sense to me. I really enjoyed having the FM Tuner in my Bionic, I like to listen to the TVs at the Gym while I'm working out. Now I have to go buy a seperate FM Tuner to do that.
There was an FM apk that was on this website somewhere, however it does not work. I have rooted my Bionic using the Ubuntu method, wifi hotspot hack is enabled, and that's all I've done to my phone after the OTA JB update. The FM Radio provided off this website just sits there saying it's "launching...one moment please" and it goes on for hours with absolutely no results.
However I have found that Spirit FM Free will work with the Bionic, if you have it rooted. It's a crappy radio though, sound is shotty, tuning is horrid, my car recieves better reception than Spirit FM Free.
Anyone have any ideas, anyone know of any Jelly Bean APKs that will work with the Bionic and allow access to the FM Tuner?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You All,
CAMarsh1987
I hear ya
I use the fm tuner the same way at the gym I guess its about money maybe someone will get a workaround in the near future not sure if I want to root my bionic

[Q] Does FM Radio work? Cyanogemod 10.1

Sorry for my bad english, but I just want to know if FM Radio works in Cyanogemod 10.1 for Galaxy Mini 2. I mean... Is there an official FM Radio app for the rom?
That's all. Thank you.
I think Spirit FM might work.

Yes, Spirit FM works on CM 10.1, but my problem with the free Spirit FM is its really clunky
Whenever I get any alert, it stops. When my headphone is slightly moved, it stops. I have to go through several hoops just to get it started again.
And then there's the sound. There's always a little bit of white noise in the background and it gets really irritating if you're using it for long periods of time.
I'm not sure if the paid version would fix these problems though.
