hey... i uninstalled the entire YouTube app from my phone instead of uninstalling the update. and now i cannot download the app again from the Market. there's no download button showing. does the same thing when i'm looking to re-download Shazam. i don't know what the heck is wrong with my Market all of a sudden. i even went on the web browser based version of Market to see if i could download it from there but it says "This app is incompatible with your T-Mobile HTC HTC HD2." WTF?! it was compatible before.
i found an older version of the YouTube app (v1.6.21), but i would like a newer one (or even the latest one) from a legitimate source. preferably one from a XDA board member. Market won't even try and update the YouTube app i installed. lame. can anyone point me the right way? thanks.
Just reflash a whatever rom you are using and the shop should be reinstalled

Don't know why is this happening with the new market, but I have the same problem, fixed by using the old market.
Clear in your device market cache.then change your screen density to 240 and you will be able to download these apps

oh man. as soon as uninstall the update to the Market app, it updates itself again the moment i start the Market app.
so that avenue doesn't work. someone PM'd me the APK.
but i'm still annoyed that Market it refusing to let me redownload stuff like YouTube and Shazam. i notice it won't even let me try and download Google Books. and i've never installed it before.
Wow thats really wierd, maybe flashing a different rom will help
guys the problem with new market is that it reads screen density. If you have screen density different from 240 you will not be able to download many apps.As far i know hyperdroid rom uses 167ppi density so many apps are not compatible.ofcourse only in the "paper",because if you download and install it,it will work.
If you dont want to change your screen density to 240 permanently use from market the app lcd density
install it,clear market cache, set density to 240,reboot method "kill" and wait to hot reboot.after reboot open market and it will let you to download the app. Then go again to lcd density and put your desired density or make a normal reboot and it will be again in your desired screen density
aaaaaahhh i had no idea it was the density, i'm currently in eu, with a swiss sim, i thought it was something to do with that... -.- now that i find out it's with the density, it almost makes too much sense from what i thought. -.- i didnt uninstall the updates, but i changed my density, and had to clear cache and data. works fine now. thanks guys.
Tried opening camera this morning and it gave me the ...has stopped unexpectedly....try agin later... I've searched around and tried a few things but no joy so far.
-restored app
-erased data
-turn off-on
Its a rooted p1010 w/ stock rom obviously. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey if you deleted or froze the email that came on the phone you will need to restore it it some how is linked to the camera. That was what was wrong with mine anyway hope this helps
Ihadnt though of that I will give it a shot now

My camera stopped working too the other day. I had changed my resolution using LCDDensity and I sort of expected this to be the culprit and yes, and when I turned back density to 240 the camera worked again.
did it work ?
Ok tried setting density back to 240. No go. Currently running 165 but can switch back again if need be. Also, is the stock email app email 2.2?
Sent from my GT-P1010 using xda premium
Hm, I think that your changing the density and having the camera not working can't be a coincidence ;-). You may need to adjust some other settings after going back to density 240.
I use ADW Launcher EX and had all the icons set back to normal as well and I may have changed a few other settings in ADW (colums, rows and dock icon settings). Soft reset twice after this. It worked for me.
Ok I set density back to 240, completely uninstalled go launcher ex and themes, cleared caches, soft reset twice and it is still throwing me the error.
Tried so far:
-lcd density set back to 240
- reloaded and set up email which works flawlessly ( email 2.2, still searching around so see if 2.2 came stock and if I did upgrade it, would it affect camera)
-unistall of go launcher and themes/widgets <-- love this launcher. Dev's are awesome.
-cleared phone/app caches
-soft rest twice
Just want to add a side note real quick: this forum and its community are untouchable. man mine did the same thing when the email was froze unfroze it and back to normal
I apologize if this had been addressed elsewhere but through some diligent searching I couldn't find the answer. Is there a fix for the market not showing apps and movies after changing the LCD density or am I stuck with going back to 240 (I'm at 220 now) every so often to check for updates and download the occasional app? Thanks for the help!

One other fix is to uninstall the update to the market app and then install the app you want, but keep in mind, the market will always update itself back.
If you freeze the Market Updater it won't update till you reboot the phone, still annoying tho, I like my lower density
i have an idea how to solve this, but I need help.
does anyone know enough about AOSP or CM7 to know how to find where in the code build.prop is called? or, really, more specifically, where is ro.sf.lcd_density or qemu.sf.lcd_density called? it's possible (and probably likely) that the entire thing is loaded at once, but if it isn't, it would make it easier.
the idea is pretty simple. have two copies on hand of build.prop (one in the standard location for the market to decide what your lcd density is), and another to be called to actually change your density.
i'd estimate that there's roughly an 80% chance it will solve the problem, but depending on how build.prop or the strings within are called it might be a huge headache. also, this fix would flummox any of the apps (like android overclock, etc.) which presently allow you to modify your build.prop.
I started a new thread because this isn't Bionic specific. it is presently located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288150
Wait, so there's apps that don't show up on market? which ones? Also ,you can get a hacked version of the old market, they can't update.

LCD Density seems to break too many things with only bandaid fixes for them. It doesn't increase resolution at all, just makes things smaller. Doesn't really make it worth it in my eyes.
I really like the smaller text. Not sure which apps don't show up but they do.....
I just uninstalled the update and used Titanium Back up to freeze market updater...
I've had this issue on and off for quite a while and it's getting more and more frustrating.
There are many apps on the market that are, what I consider, pretty common Android apps (Adobe Flash, Shazzam, Go Locker, Out of Milk, etc) but when I go to the market page I don't even have the "download" button. Instead, I see "Not avaiable for your device"
I've searched around and had little luck in figuring this out. The only thing I can think is maybe my build.prop gets ****ed up when I change my LCD density. That's only a guess as it's all I've really done to the phone short of a kernel/rom. I've tried resetting permissions in Rom Manager, clear cache/data and uninstall/reinstal Market, and now I'm in RA Recovery resetting my permissions. I've been stuck on "Fixing permissions..." for about 30 minutes with no sign of stopping but the software buttons still have haptic feedback so I'm not sure if it's frozen or if it takes a while.
I've tried MarketEnabler but that only accounts for a location based spoof and not the actual device type. Has anyone run into this issue before?
Running CM7 most recent nightly, redstar's kernel, and a LCD density set at 200. Other than that, nothing but apps. Please help me with this as I find it very annoying to go to a third party website to download the APK manually. If I do it that way the apps install/run just fine. The market just won't let me install.
Halp!
Which version do you have?

Of the market? IIRC it was the most recent one.
Right now I'm stuck in recovery on "Fixing Permissions..." and it's been that way for 30+ minutes. Does it normally take this long or should I pull the battery.
I JUST cleared the cache/data and uninstalled the market. I was going to reinstall the most recent GAPPS to see if that fixed it but got hung on this permissions stuff.
Never bothered changing it, but what is the standard LCD density setting? Changing the LCD density will definitely cause certain apps not to recognize your device in the market.
Change your LCD density back to default and then try to reinstall, you should be good to go.

It was set at 240 by default and I change it to 200 and increase screen space. I'd recommend it, I can't stand how the phone looks at 240
I reverted to my old build.prop and it didn't work. I did a full wipe and the market works. Did a wipe + density change and it still works. About to install the kernel to see if that made it happen but I doubt it.
I'm not sure what caused it but a wipe/reinstall of everything fixed it. Made a backup so hopefully I don't have to fight this thing again
I'm experiencing this too.
Normally, I would switch my LCD Density to 240 and everything would be fine... but now (yes, now that I'd like to install those cheap 10c apps), I can't!
I'll try to do a wipe & reinstall... I'm itching for those apps and my N1 can't install them..
OK, after a wipe & reinstall.. I'm back in business..
Installed the apps right a way.. I'll change the LCD Density later..
Hope I won't experience the same problem again, when the next wave of 10c apps come-in..

I am still working on the same problem, will try again later.
Everything was working great and without installing anything other than market app updates, it all of a sudden quote working.
I did a restore to my working market backup but the problem persists. I'm going to try a wipe and restore to see if that works. Lets hope so...

Yesterday I got my Nexus and began installing play store apps. After I got many of my apps installed I noticed that some apps were coming up with "Your device isn't compatible with this version" and I wasn't able to download them. I went back and looked at some apps I had already installed such as Facebook for android and even that shows the same message now even though I was able to install it previously. I am disallowed in both the play store app as well as the web site from installing these apps so it is clearly something stored on play about my device. Is anyone else seeing this? Try the following apps
Facebook for Android
Firefox
My Tracks
Evernote
This list could go on.

I guess I should add that I am rooted and I made the following change to my build.prop file in order to get the tablet view.
- ro.sf.lcd_density=213
+ ro.sf.lcd_density=175
I guess I will try switching the density back and see if that makes a difference.
This is a common issue after you changed the LCD density, and unfortunately, there is no real solution (that I know of).
To get around this, revert back to the native density of 213. Clear cache of Play store. All apps should be compatible as stock. You can try to go back the lower the density again. Without clearing cache of the Play store this time, you may get lucky that the Play store may *think* it is still under the default LCD density.

Many of my GSII apps show as incompatible. No root or anything done to N7 yet. I did get FB to work though.
Thank you all for the replies. When I made the dpi changes the Play Store did operate as normal for some time. I have now switched my dpi back and cleared cache and data for Play Store. Still not working properly at this point, but I will keep you posted. Thanks for the heads up!
For future reference I found this post that talks about Tablet UI and the aforementioned Play Store issue.

Yes, I have no problem launching those apps. It sounds like its just a Play Store incompatibility. Some others have reported using a dpi of 160 and not having Play Store issues, but like I said, my issue showed up a couple hours after the fact. And having changed it back to the default, my Play Store issues have not yet gone away.
After changing the settings back, force stopping play store, clearing cache and data, then rebooting, I was able to get the play store behaving properly again. But I HATE the phone UI. So I am tempted to change it back once I get the apps I want. I may give 160 a shot rather than 175.

Glad to hear that it worked.
I have been using DPI of 160 since yesterday. Play store is still behaving normally so far. Fingers crossed.
Let us know how it turned out for you at 160.
Since I've had my device rooted I have had a lot of apps on the plays store which says incompatible with your device, can someone e please help, thank you.
Why not just follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970
And skip changing the DPI.
Ain't there another way without patching it, that is long a and I don't want to mess up my nexus 7

Hi,
To change your LCD density but avoid apps incompatibility, set your density back to 213.
Now, create a file in /data/local.prop and type in it :
qemu.sf.lcd_density=160
You can change the density to whatever you want, save and reboot
Please press thanks if I helped you
