VZW Backup Assistant + problem - Motorola Droid Bionic

I just got a warranty replacement bionic. My prior phone Some how got the backup assistant plus installed. I never installed out. Out was just there one day. Anyhow, my new phone shows this app as incompatible on the play market. Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have the assistant plus apk? Ideas?
VZW tech support basically told me they had no idea what was going on and that the app is supposed to be compatible with the bionic. Waiting for level 3 reply.
Thanks for any help.

I personally never use back-up assistant, since google backs up all your contacts automatically. I've had nothing but problems with back-up assistant.

Backup assistant PLUS does photos, documents, and music as well as contacts. It worked very well for me, but note I can't recover...

[Q] how to delete bloatware and free up my internal memory

the post says it all. i am a noob when it comes to bionic and want to free up my memory (internal) what would be the EASIEST way to accomplish this?directions please with sugar on top.
Root Explorer... navigate to /system/app.
I always make a folder on my SD like "SystemApps" then I move what I don't want out to that folder as opposed to just deleting them, just in case I find out something is acting weird or needed.
"Some" of the bloat can be uninstalled via the built in App Manager also.

This really should not be in the development section. Until we have a way to back everything up via recovery the only way you can do anything like that is through rooting and using Titanium backup. You can either freeze or uninstall any app. I would not uninstall anything without backing it up first. All I have done is freeze some bloatware so I do not have to see it in the app list. You can really f up your phone if you remove the wrongs stuff. A there is a list somewhere of which apps you can freeze without issues.

THIS!!!
I am no where near an expert as some of the Devs in these forums, but I went through a lot of ROMs on my old Eris. Every time, though, I had a Nand backup to go to if/when I screwed up.
Now that I have a nice, new, shiny Bionic I will not root until there is an SBF to allow a return to stock. Yep, people like P3Droid, and others, have successfully rooted and debloated. All it takes, though, is some little glitch, power spike or otherwise, to screw things up. Actually, reading a few forums there are more than a few that have already bricked or really hamstrung their $600 phone by just rooting and borking around trying to debloat.
Patience people. Within 2, 3, 4 weeks I'm sure one of our Dev wizards will have a failsafe method ... WITH BACKUP RESTORE CAPABILITIES.
I just group up my apps to eliminate viewing the bloat. My phone is fine. Fools rush in, for sure.
On a side note: I've seen a couple people mention on other forums that they have bricked their phones and committed fraud by returning their smoldering remnants back to Verizon. Slackers.

I'm guessing Titanium Backup. But here's my question.... Is it safer to 'freeze' bloatware instead of moving it into a new folder on your SD card?
As long as you don't delete it when you move it then either option is good from my experience worth moto phones

Ok I have done both renamed bloat files .bak and moved them into their own folder in my sdcard , my question is how do I free up internal memory? When I do either of those sure it removes then from my application drawer but it doesn't free up any memory?

You may have uninstalled the Yahoo contacts. You can find a System App dump from here: http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/tbh-discussion-forum/9081-droid-bionic-system-dumps-partial.html
Hope this helps

It's always safer to freeze the bloatware. This way if your phone starts to act up, all you have to do is defrost whatever you froze.
That did the trick thanks Idk why Yahoo is tired to that process.

I deleted a bunch of bloat ware but it doesn't say that I cleared up any internal memory anybody know why?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I know this is opinionated, but what apps are bloatware? Let's say I have all the apps I want to use already on a backup and I am starting the Bionic clean. What can I uninstall or move that won't mess up the phone?
There is a list of files ok and not ok to delete at androicentral.com check it out great source.

We've also compiled a list over at AF for your perusal. Messenger13 has added his own commentary as to what he did and did not remove and why.

Need help

Guys ive recently purchased my bionic on swappa. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the phone and it was never rooted. I updated it to the most recent update ota. After that i rooted it manually....that was two days ago. Im running stock and just removed a few apps. Today i tried to add a contact and it force closed. So i went to my contacts but when i press the little "+" button it says contact storage force closed again. I have no idea why. I tried using root explorer to change its permissions but it still force closed. And i know i didnt remove something i wasnt suppose to. I cant find how to fix this anywhere. Can someone help me out? Thanks

What apps did you remove? I'm guessing you removed some Motorola apps.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Did you remove or freeze the Yahoo contacts apps? For some reason the Bionic contacts app breaks if you remove those.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I only removed things like device setup and help center or social messaging. When i googled how to fix this the yahoo stuff came up but i didnt freeze that. I unfroze everything and rebooted but nothing....

There is an issue with the Google plus app that causes that.
Uninstall it, restart your phone, then download from the market again.
That should fix it.

unpaid for apps show as Purchased on play market

i would guess uninstall them (use titanium to backup data), then buy from market and restore data
It shows as purchased if uninstalled and if I click instal it gives error screen Instead of purchase screen

Titanium Backup has a feature called Market Doctor which removes and/or attaches market links, effectively showing them or not within the market. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it's a Pro-only feature, so making a new account may be better for you.
That doesn't work on 4.0.... makes it worse for me :/

I've run into this also, yes I have used some pirated apps, but really it was such a hassel to find working updated sometimes 2 or 3 daily, I just said screw it I can spare 3$ for the app. I tried a whole bunch of tricks, hacks, whatever. the one that has worked for me, is re-install lets say, your stock rom (or a Stock rom).
boot up, setup your 'current' google account, go strait to the market (google play, whatever), disable auto update, ad mobs, ect. download/purchase the apps you want. From my experience, its better to do this quick. google market seems to take a while to realize your phone, is on a new rom. its sort of hit or miss.
When you go back to your ICS rom, well your purchased apps should be well "purchased" for real.
on another note, be careful of some roms using Legit software, not to name any names but a few have "copyrighted" software. So if you installed one of those, your loose your chance to buy it when you want to.
my 2 cents.

I did it this way : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23569397&postcount=16
Have you tried simply using the web version on a desktop, or even from your phone's browser, then letting it get sent to your device when you sync? It may take a reboot or two, but this worked for me in the past. (Of course after uninstalling the app in question first.
I had this problem once when I tried to show my support for an app dev. I got a free version of Cut the Rope from GetJar and I wanted to convert to the Market version to support the dev. But Market on my phone kept on showing it as purchased, and wouldn't allow you to buy it anymore.
I uninstalled the app from my phone, backing up data with TI Backup. I then went to the web version of Android Market, and that thankfully showed that I had not purchased the Market version of the app.

slim ics? The most reliable ics rom imo ... its play markets detection of installed apps, I've been on 3 roms with this issue, if the other methods don't work I'll use an old market apk

Yeah. I just finished setting up again after flashing. I've noticed a few back end things that didn't work before now seem to be working. For instance, before if I did a check for update it would say check for system update is not available. Now I get the usual no update necessary message. Other than that it seems the same.

Honestly, there's not much difference and if you're happy on 2233, I'd stay there. I'll continue to flash each new leak out of curiosity. A final build should be appearing in the next few weeks, because Motorola has early Q3 as there expected release which only gives them until mid-August at the latest to finalize, test, and gain approval for the update.
I wonder if there will be any differences in the official ICS release and the leaked .2233? Honestly i havent found anything wrong with 2233 yet aside from recovering a nandroid backup of it.

Mostly the issues I have found include things in Motoblur apps or backend stuff (such as the missing System Updates I mentioned earlier, Social Gallery not allowing you to add accounts, and the Device Setup wizard force closes after the initial run through), and I believe some of this stuff has been purposely disabled for these "test" builds. I also think HDCP has yet to be enabled, as running Hulu Plus in webtop mode gave me a black screen that said HDMI output has been disabled. Two of those four things are now fixed in 229, and I'm going to test Hulu Plus in about an hour. It is very close to being a done deal for sure. I would expect a new leak or two in the next two weeks with all these issues ironed out, followed shortly by news of a soak test in late-July, and a final release the first week of August. But that's all speculation on my part.

Did you try after a factory reset on 2233? Mine were there and working when upgraded from 905, but I did a factory reset and then it kept trying to add but gave me an error that read something along the lines of this has been disabled for this account. It works fine on 229.

I haven't noticed a lot of changes either, overall since all i noticed was the updated kernel and lower os resource usage.

Yeah i hate having everything backed up in titanium cause then it takes up extra space... lol. And i always forget to go back and delete the backup after i reinstall everything. Plus its more the remembering all my settings and how i had everything arranged that annoys me.... lol

Not sure why, but after flashing to .902 and updating several times on .2233, I went back to .902 to get this new leak on, and promptly got stuck on the dual core logo. I reflashed .902 -- it went perfectly both times -- but got stuck on the big red dot again. Left it alone for almost three hours, and all it did was kill my battery.
Any idea why the exact same .902 file and procedure that I used many times before would suddenly decide to crap out on me?
Can I just flash this update over the 2233 or do I have to go back to 905 first?
I believe you have to go back to .905 first, but i could be wrong... i havent tried it yet.

Delete manually or with titanium backup if you got root. I think there's no other way w/o being rooted.
