I don't know if this will help anyone, but I'd been wanting to make my black aws model into a white one for quite a while, now that I'd found a place that supplies them I wanted to share it with the rest of our community. Will report back on how it goes and quality of pieces once I get them.
http://www.acceport.com/dell-streak-mini-5.html
How are the parts? Are they good? Im curious how u install those parts... I think it's rather difficult right?
I've yet to receive them but i'm expecting those sometime in the coming week, I'll update the op with pics and impressions
If you're taking apart yours to swap bodies, you should try and see if there's any visual differences.
The site you linked to had 'OEM' docks but the pictured ones are just cheap generic ones and not actual OEM ones.
(They're also priced as cheap generic docks, it could simply be they're labeled incorrectly, but still)
Hopefully what you ordered is the real thing and not a copy.
will do, currently I have a black aws model and white att one so I'll have the actual dell one to compare quality with.
and yes the docks seem to be cheap generic stuff.
i wonder, are the buttons included?

I would think no since they have a listing for white buttons as well, I ordered those as well as the back and battery cover.
Hmm, but they only offer 'white' (even though the pictured ones are black), each color also has matching colored buttons(?)
On a side note you can almost completely refurbish a S5 for ~$150, the only things missing are the mobo, the bezel side bumpers (the shiny plastic part) and some minor internal pieces.
Yeah I'd noticed their picture is of black ones, I'd emailed them and they assured me the buttons would be white in color. I think getting a new board to do a full refurb would be a bit difficult considering that its an aws model and last time i spoke with dell they denied its existence plus i just want a white aws streak....
I was speaking hypothetically in regards to the refurbing, it's likely easier to get a donor mobo to refurb around instead of doing a full refurb with 'new' parts.
They dont offer black or red buttons though? They offer black and red bodies but not the buttons.
Wonder how hard it would be to get a purple one, purples ones existed for prototype streaks.

Hmm, I was never aware they had purple ones.
It was only prototype ones, they were never available for retail.
Though majority of prototype ones were black anyway, it might have been a specific phase of prototyping.
Darn it, now i'm tempted to bust out all my paint stuff and make mine purple, it wouldn't be too hard considering how the streak isn't textured like the note.
If I were to paint it any color, I'd prob pick metallic blue.
I believe the S5 was demoed in that color at one point, but ultimately the only ones that were available (depends on location):
Black (obviously)
White
Red
Possibly demoed or very limited availability:
Purple (like mentioned)
Blue
Green
Possibly one or two more colors I cant remember.
Given how poorly the S5 sold (in comparison to it's potential, look at the note) it's why the majority are black.
The worse part is there's no pictures of those color ones :/ personally i kind of like the fact it didn't sell much, it makes the phone a bit more unique amongst people

Granted the front ones are tacky, but I think the original intention was like what they did on the inspiron series: where you could choose your color ahead of time and for custom colors/designs they would manufacture to order.
If that was the case they would REALLY stand out as far as phones go, Dell's a computer/laptop manufacturer of course, and this is pretty common as far as laptops go.
I'd personally rather the S5 had as many sold as the note, we'd get more devs by virtue of more users. Pretty much all our devs are kernel devs, we dont have much in the way of userland devs (which is a big part of porting a newer version of android)
Wonder if i dragged the thread off topic enough
Ugh now i want one in blue as well as white and purple...
The lack of devs is a bad thing but to be honest I'm still completely happy with the way my streak is right now(dsc 1.0), sure ICS would be great but its yet to be a deal breaker for me, plus I get people more amazed at the fact dell made phones than my buddy showing his note.
Thread is still somewhat on topic, there's about 9 more days of waiting for me to get the parts anyways, plus I'd just learned a few new things.

If I dont get a reply by then, could you try turning your S5 on without the innerSD installed and see what happens?
Since you're going to take yours apart then and will have easy access to the innerSD.
I dont expect it to harm your device or data (though you should make a nandroid just incase anyway).
Wonder how well matte blue would look, as those examples are all glossy or near glossy.
There's also the fact that smartphones are generally only available in black or white nowadays.
Granted they tend to be the best looking colors anyway, but dell coulda been on to something if they did them like laptops and had a whole slew of colors (even if you had to order them via their website because stores only carry a limited selection).
Too bad this didnt happen.
The S5 would definitely benefit from ICS, the S7 from 2.2 -> 3.2 was like night and day, I cant imagine using my S7 at all without HC since it's so much better.
The S5 could become a S7mini if it got ICS, the GNote in tablet mode is what I would use my S5 as if it had ICS.
I think I'll do you one better, I'll get it on video in case anything interesting happens. I think I have at the very least 20 gigs worth of nandroids from flashing different roms and trying to see which have the longest battery life.
Dell could've been onto something really good had they let you pick out a unique design or color.
you know what's tickling my fancy lately, I'd like to goto like, a lamborghini workshop (do they even exist?) and buy like a small can of that metallic orange or flashy green paint that they use for the Murcielagos. now THAT would rock.
and talking about innersd, since this thread is already the mother of offtopics and, ultimately, what the hell, we are too few to create actual clutter, I am looking for an innersd that came out of a streak, if anyone can help

Hey XDA Adam fans I'd like to introduce my work in progress case for the Adam. I'm calling it Goliath Pro, short for Goliath Protection. I just started last weekend after pre-ordering my Adam (wifi+pixelqi) and finding no suitable cases for my requirements (rugged yet stylish).
I've been posting on Notion Addicts but want to get the feedback of the XDA community too. I'm already on version 2 you can see renders at goliathpro site. I'm hoping to get to prototype next week so I can move quick with this (I work for a product design company so I've already got manufacturing connections in China). If you guys have any suggestions or needs you'd like to see implemented let me know and I'll do my best to produce everyone's dream case. It may even end up being two renditions one being the base model and another later thats beefed up to mil-spec. (NIH also has a cool case but we need variety!)
I figure Adam lets you use the tablet comfortably outside with pixelqi so it better be built for it.
All input is appreciated!
(oh, and I've attached an exclusive XDA preview of a new the version 2 color scheme, smoky grey transparent)
*UPDATE: First prototypes arrived today!

Prototype Case!
Looks great! Not sold on the name though. 99.99999% of the time, 'pro' is short for professional and imo, it just sounds strange. That's like calling a product solid-tit where the 'tit' is short for titanium. Makes sense, just isn't a good name. Not that the name actually matters if the case does its job...
Off topic: Did you use Solidworks to draw this up? I'm an ME and I've used Inventor rather extensively but I just got a new job at a startup (I'm the second full-time employee) and I'm going to be using Solidworks for design. Can't wait to get the program in because I'll get a free home license too!
Valid point wynalazca, I guess I like pro 'cuase its what you call your protective gear in rock climbing. Then again you could think of it as a case for professionals or maybe in its final rendition it'll be the full Goliath Protection, we'll see how the logo's look . Yes, solidworks was used to mock up the case, it's a really intuitive program. I'm in the opposite situation, I'd like to try inventor as a lot of people I know use it and love it.
How about a stand build in...somewhere..?
Looks good though.
Looking really good! -CC
nice idea
for sure i will put it on my wish list

Logos and Eco Friendly Materials
Finally, Logos! let me know what you think of these, the top one is the primary logo which i envision embossed on the product somewhere, haven't decided if it should be prominent (like the apple logo on back of iPad) or kinda hidden so you only see it on the inside or something. I guess that will depend on what you guys think. Let me know if you can get down with this or if you hate it, another idea I was playing with was a silhouette of a Goliath beetle from the side. I thought it'd be cool to reference the insects exoskeleton but I put the idea aside for this more clean looking design (if you guys hate this one and want to see the beetle I'll revive it!)
*logo attached below
I got an email requesting Goliath be made from eco-friendly materials, such as recycled plastics etc. I would love to do this but fear that recycled plastics would shorten the lifespan and quality of the product. From my experience recycled plastics tend to break/fracture much more quickly than virgin material. If anyone knows otherwise and has eco-material suggestions I'd be happy to take them. I've seen a lot of requests for a leather case, so maybe I'll have to do a recycled leather case to compliment this one.
Again, thanks for all the feedback, it's awesome how Adam fans like to get involved!
Reminds me of aftermarket car mods for some reason, which isn't a positive or negative ...
Let's see the beetle, the idea intrigues me.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
On another note, if you designed the connections right I don't think the brittleness of recycled plastics would be much of an issue. There really isn't much stress placed upon these covers unless they arent tight to the device body or (obviously) dropped.
Any possibility of a bidirectional kickstand?

Sorry to stay off topic, but after going through a hands on course from one of the sales people, Solidworks is a much better program to use. I'm not sure if it was just the computer I had, but Inventor seemed a little buggy and crashed all the time on me.
Also, I'm really digging the logos. If the price is reasonable, I'm definitely interested in purchasing!
Hey XDA, so last Monday my server got hacked and it screwed up my entire weeks schedule. I learned some lessons, i.e. never host all your work critical websites on one server. Luckily no damage was really done and I learned a lot about what I need to do in the future to be more careful. Monday was going to be dedicated to version 2 modeling and updates but since that day was completely occupied by damage control I've had to fit in the modeling after hours and this weekend. Luckily our manufacturer was able to get me estimates and timetables for prototyping and first production, so all was not lost. I hope to have some prototypes by end of next week so we can all have something real to look at, not just renders.
football0552: thanks for the heads up, I'm considering using living hinges to create the integrated stand while keeping everything flush. Do you know about recycled plastics in this application? I know virgin material can be flexed over a million times. Bidirectional Kickstand is in the works, I have several solutions, working on a final to patent before releasing images.
That looks great, hope your planning on shipping international!!!
One question / idea are you planing a cover / folio case to protect the screen.
I fly in helicopters occasionally and the luggage gets tossed about a bit so I am needing some protection for the screen too.
Cant wait to see the real deal.

To answer your question about recycled plastics and living hinges-- No, I don't. I could do some research if needed, but off the top of my head I don't know.
I like the Icon only as well as the Horizontal format. Torn, as either one would be nice.
living hinge
Hey, maybe you could do something like a snap version of a livinge hinge; at the top and sides. Disconnect the snaps you're not using and flip the cover open to either a portrait or landscape kickstand. My concern is for the longevity of a living hinge...

I saw a funny engineering post called Night of the Living Hinge. Anyways, got updates!
It's been a hectic couple of weeks but finally I'm ready to share pre-production renders. We've patented design in China and US, as well as trademarked our name so without further delay. Here are the updates:
1. Ruggedized re-design brings a better grip on the second skin as well as increasing impact resistance.
2. Screen Protector with design features that direct screen impact to the outside of the case not the screen.
3. Micro SD card slots to store 3 extra MicroSD cards
4. Integrated kickstand
5. fully accessible ports when open, fully protected ports when closed
6. Sliding Camera cover protects the lens when closed, allows full use when slid open.

The site is goliathpro.com and the cost we're shooting for is estimated around USD$20 for the Second Skin and USD$50 for the Full Protection. These estimates aren't solid yet tho as we have yet to finalize our manufacturing partner.

Build your own case for the nexus7, choose the colours etc.. amazing....
oh, and every case is built with a magnet in the lid for smart screen!
I went all black with Manhattan Blue line colour... looks very nexus7
Yeah, we have discussed this case in several other threads.
I went with the Red + white elastic and purple cloth interior
+1 I spoke with them since Sunday regards to the kinetic clip/stand and smart cover which will be included. A bit pricey but I think worth the pennies I earn to have a unique, one-of-a-kind case (well to me lol).

Man you're advertising this everywhere lol. I preordered mine a few days ago. Can't wait.
Black outside, natural wood, yellow cloth inside and kinetic latch!!
Can't wait. I asked how long it'll take she said ships july 30, probably take 2 days to get to Cali.
It does definitely looks nice. I think I will order one for my nexus 7. Black covering, ebony wood trim, gray lining with a white elastic band closure strap.
just ordered mine. black exterior, ebony wood, apocalypse blue inside and kinect latch
Ooo i don't know, it looks great but also looks like a lot of extra bulk
Mad Midnight case, Ebony Frame, Knight Gray Cloth, and Black elastic.
I thought about the kinetic latch but with all the other tablets I have had, the cases that stand up were never really used.
Man, I am really tempted. Bit pricey, but I love the moleskin style and these seem like top quality. Hmm ....

Yeah I figure this is my "warranty" seems pretty protective and it looks really nice. Their customer service seems really good too, received a email reply the next day and they are active on their G+ and Twitter.
Edit: From their G+ in response to a question about the speaker and mics
"
We're so glad someone asked this, because we put a lot of R&D into it. We will be posting updated photos of the Nexus 7 case design very soon.
The speaker aligns with the bottom ledge of the frame, which helps direct the sound toward the user through the bottom port. It actually sounds better in the frame than when it's sitting on its own.
Regarding the mics, this really has to do with how we engineer our frames from the beginning. The rubber corners and accents allow for airspace around the device itself where the mics are located. This airspace is exposed to the wood, which helps capture sound.
"
They answered my query regarding magnetic lid very fast as well, wanted to make sure it was include regardless of latch/elastic strap, it is.
I did a bit of research about them and the general feel was bad quality for their ipad cases, but that was a few years ago. People had issue with the corners being quite blocky and the ipads falling out, but looking at the images online and on their facebook it seems a lot has changed since then
I did some research before making my order and I couldn't find anything from 2012 it seems. Which I think is ok since most posts are usually complaints. Some things I found were about shipping delays which I think they have fixed. But I did find posts where they did try to fix issues and I think they have been redesigning to make sure any past issues have been addressed.
Those do look like excellent cases, but man, $50 for a case for a tablet that cost $250. I'll have to ponder this one a bit.
Saw some of the shipping mentions too, but as stated they were older. I will be having to exchange my device in the near future, so really considering it ... this is where I'd like to see some user feedback / photos.

I couldn't bring myself to spend this much on a case, especially when I'm holding out for the docks to be released. I would dislike taking it out of the case to put it on the dock, as well as the added thickness and weight.
I hope i don't break my nexus 7 before the case comes..

I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on an epic black exterior, ebony wood, Old World Atlas interior print, and a Kinetic latch. Damned nice looking, even for the quoted 64.95.
i've found the same as everyone above. I would like to mention there are quite a few similar cases to this, not sure how many are making nexus 7 cases, but I did just email pen and quill. I also saw beaconcase.com and portenzo, but they are all about $50-$60....i'd go as high as $40 I think, but 50 and 60 is really getting up there, it would have to be a really good quality for me to pay 1/5 of the price of the tablet.....
Update from Portenzo:
We are so thankful to have customers who demand a well thought out, high quality product over instant gratification. We are looking into it. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates.
Thanks!

OFF TOPIC:
You talk about price, now I have started using vaja cases from my days of the PDA Sony Clie days and I still have this case this very day. Argentinian leather and top notch craftsmanship for protection. Its EXPENSIVE, but the leather and product I can def vouch for. They take about 3-4 weeks for custom orders which is awesome IMO and coming from Argentina, is pretty cool. Here's a pic below of an example of what they can do. I have posted a question on their G+ account about making cases for us. (well more begging lol).
This is an example of one of their more expensive cases for the ipad2. I personally don't like the texture and I am not a pink/fusia person, but some do (reminds me of the Soul headphone pads in the Ludicrous lines lol)

The Good:
- Made Entirely from Recycled Materials
- Totally customizable
- Holds case firmly
- Elastic Strap holds firm
- Internal pocket for storage
- Buttons mostly accessible
The Bad:
- Made Entirely from Recycled Materials
- Adds a surprising bit of bulk (far less than the Blurex, but more than the Belkin)
- The Design Process vs. final product (more on that in a bit)
- Not a smart cover
The Unknown:
- Durability
Review:
I love the XDA forums around the time of a device launch. Yeah, you get an influx of short term users and forum complaints, but the place overall reflects the unadulterated joy of geek-fanboy-ism in a primarily positive way. Moreso than most of the internet.
As we all watched accessories roll in, I decided this would be the "pricier" case I decided to take the plunge on in hopes it would be my "final" case. I am an obsessive customizer/tinkerer, so it was a pretty easy decision. I decided on a pretty simple design that I thought would compliment my overall device theme (at least for the time being).
This is largely where my biggest complaint comes in, which I think is demonstrated by the screenshot below:
It is important to note that I chose to have the order altered to incorporate the black strap (as opposed to the white), however the overall base color is simply not similar. I didn't agonize over the design, and used stock background as opposed to a provided image file, so I definitely did not take full advantage of the customization - but still feel the colors don't match up particularly well.
That said, the print is high quality (especially given that all the imagery I provided had a fair degree of transparency to it, I wasn't sure it would turn out the greatest), the sturdy feeling recycled neoprene has a nice worn texture to it, and in general I still think it is an incredibly attractive case.
The fill seems to be some sort of either recycled cardboard, pressboard, or plastic. It does flex easily, but doesn't feel bent easily (if that makes sense). Overall, this is an area where only time will tell, but I'd say I'm leaning on the optimistic side. It certainly does not feel as though it's about to fall apart, and the stitching on the neoprene is absolutely top of the line. Incredibly well done.
The lack of smart cover functionality is a bit disappointing, however, I had no expectation it would have one when I ordered it. There was no mention of it on the site, anywhere, and I did not choose to clarify. I had purchased the Blurex smart case immediately on ordering my N7, and when I ordered this case decided if necessary, I would do a bit of surgery with an exacto knife to extract the magnet. I will update this thread with my success to this end, but it is certainly encouraging to have the pocket sewn inside already, as I'm fairly certain it will be simple to stitch the magnet into this case.
tl;dr aka Final Thoughts:
At $40, this was not necessarily a cheap case, but in my opinion very reasonably priced. Turnaround time was definitely satisfactory, and my interactions with their customer service department were very prompt and courteous. It holds very comfortably in the hand.
While it would be foolish to estimate how it will wear over time, I feel like it's going to hold up just fine for my use.
Looks nice! For $40 that didn't sport a smart cover/magnet option....kinda suXors IMO
But I do like the look and it doesn't look very bulky at all. I'd be on the fence on this one but because of the lack of the smart cover, that would be a pass on my book. But I know some who don't like the smart cover option, this may appeal to them.

In reality, it's not that bulky - I just feel like adding any bulk to sleeker devices like this kind of ruins the form factor - so it's not just this case, I struggle with almost all of them.
The smart cover will likely be a deal breaker for a lot of people. My advice to anyone considering ordering one of these is simply to contact them and see if they have any plans on implementing the magnet in future designs. They replied to my email within 24 hours, were very courteous, and I imagine it's something they more than likely do plan on implementing. I'm just an early adopter
And I don't mind hacking my own together. We've got a sewing machine, fabric, and a magnet already - why not?

True, that's an option, but I prefer the reliability of a hardware solution, particularly when I already have the hardware.
I know someone who used to work at Caseable. I got a free custom Touchpad case (technically iPad case, but it fits the same) because of it. Never used it though. As much as I liked my custom design, it wasn't really a 'case'. Just a book-like cover, and a strap in each corner to secure it. I'd rather have something that snaps onto the back of the device like most cases.

Yeah it does there... When I ordered mine there were different pictures in that spot, showing a blue and orange one, as well as the pink colorful one I ordered, and those looked narrower across and with more rounded corners, the way it does in the image where you choose the pattern. I still can't wait to get mine though, I'm sure ill still like it (and will add my own magnet of course)

I think I know the shot you are talking about - maybe was on there around day one?
Definitely a bit different, and way different than the design app makes it look for sure.
On playing with it throughout the day, though, I definitely think I am pretty happy. My gripes are largely superficial to this point.

Has anyone bought this power case for G2 yet?

Be careful, if the batteries aren't properly made, they can go off (if it has a bad overcharge protection circuit). In India many people used to buy fake/duplicate Nokia batteries and had/have similar results, giving Nokia a bad name in some cases. Not often but definitely occurs. Just saying because it doesn't even mention the brand.
Better off with zerolemon battery and dual layer case.

original battery is best
Do not take the risk
wonder if it fits the Verizon model.
btw the zerolemon one has issues with obstructing the camera and the buttons not working very well. (at least from the few reviews I can find)
hmmm if someone has the zerolemon one can you let me know if the portion around the camera is able to be dremel'd away a bit?
Might have to get one and see if I can 3d scan-edit-3d print a new one at a friends house

That would be so epic! Keep us posted please! Lol
I contacted zerolemon about the case.
Looking at pictures from reviews and amazon/their own site, I have a feeling they changed the case around the camera.
the reviews I have seen show it more of a contoured shape but the one I see on amazon its square and a little further away from the camera.
If they changed it I may order one and see, if it blocks the camera I will see about dremelling around the contour and see if I can "fix" it lol.
I've got a Kinect set up and ill 3d scan the parts before hand and look at modifying for a 3d printer.
Ok got a response from zerolemon.
Hello,
Thanks for your question. The camera part of the case has been widened to fix the obstruction issue, but the power button doesn't change.
So the camera is fixed. No dremel needed.
The button issue might not be a deal breaker, I usually use knock on to wake it. Volume could be the clincher.
I'm gonna think about getting it since its half the cost of the mugen one and I like how the zerolemon one doesn't have the plug dangling.
According to the video review the verizon g2 does fit.
I know this is a kind of old thread but seriously, the pics on that eBay listing look horribly photoshopped. I would be very cautious buying this case. Look closely at the buttons, and why is the entire case clearly visible, except the top. The top part of the case is extremely blurry. I don't know, something looks fishy about it.
Hi Guys Here is the same one but cheaper.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to give it a try the price makes me doubt of the product.
I have two ZeroLemon G2 battery cases (the seller sent an extra one and never responded when I emailed them), the second one is unopened. I'd be willing to sell for cheap if anyone is interested. It takes some work to get the case on correctly (specifically the volume and power buttons), but is otherwise about what you'd expect for such a product.

Have you been able to use the power button with the case on? I never got that to work

Id be willing to buy the extra one. What design is the back around the camera? Round or square?

The one I'm using is square, so the unopened one is presumably square as well. I'll have photos up shortly. I'd be asking $20+shipping (I'm near Cleveland, OH). I can't imagine having a need for 7000 mah worth of G2 batteries in my house. The only time I ever use the case is when I'm driving Uber, I like to have Waze, Dash (connected to a Bluetooth OBD adapter), and audio going w/o having cords in the way, and that's the only way to do it.
I will pm you with details. Btw i live in michigan. Howdy neighbor. Haha

Anyway, for the rest of you, here are some photos so you can get an idea of what it looks like:

This is everything that comes in the package, minus a couple of items. One is the glued-on screen protector. I didn't like it so I took it off. The other thing is there is a backing plate with styrofoam on the other side. This goes in where the battery would be if you are choosing to use the phone and case by itself, without the battery. I don't know where I placed mine, and I can't really see ever needing it anyway.
G2 case next to my old Nexus 4.
The camera and power buttons from the outside. I apologize for the quality of the shot, that bathroom mirror is dirty. I guess I could have just used the Nexus 4 to take a better picture, or my QX-10 attachment, but I was lazy.
Why would you need to use this? In my opinion it makes phone too big which isn't as comfortable at all!
Durability. I work where it can be dropped on a concrete floor easily. Or if in my pocket crushed. Plus the extra battery is nice.
Thank you Sean35. Just got the case today. The Verizon g2 does fit with a little extra efort. Agree the screen protector is coming off lol. Only issue i have is the "incompatible charger" bug. I am rooted running a custom kit kat rom so gotta figure that out.
Anybody found any actual back covers other than the standard LG leather and plastic ones? They are so bland to me and I don't like the bulk of cases.

The closest thing you're going to get is Dbrand skins. I have an attraction so strong towards Mahogany it's borderline sexual.

Lol that's funny I did consider that one it is very sexeh. But isn't it just a sticker?
Also they are just boring docile pastel colors. And the leather doesn't seem like it will last long. I like to switch things up a lot too.

Yep but there's no alternative to protection.. Just cases and screen protectors. Otherwise go naked and/or get Dbrand "wraps"
If only there was a mahogany case.. Mmm
Well considering this is a popular phone someone should get on this!

Life cycle for that type of development is almost over for this device.
The V10 is out and soon after the G5.
I know quite a few people have the phone now, but I would say 75% will not have the same phone within the next 6 months.

That's a bit pessimistic, don't you think? My mother uses the LG G2 and loves it to pieces. I have some students that are rocking an iPhone 5 (not the S, just the 5).
I think MOST people will keep their devices at least 1 year (which is in par of what you said), but 75%? So far there isn't a shooter that outperforms the G4 YET. So people who want a quality shooter right now will probably buy the G4 or V10, and keep it for a while. Even if the G5 is announced within the next 6 months, that doesn't mean the G4 will be any less of a good phone. For me, it's the absolutely perfect phone. Why?
It never lags on me
It has great battery life
It has a superb camera
Expandable memory and replaceable battery
Screen quality is great
Small footprint compared to other 5.5" devices
I'm not sure 75% of people will change devices within the next 6 months just because....
Anyways, going back to the OP: I haven't seen any alternative backs, but I'd suggest Slickwraps or Dbrand skins. I got a slickwrap in orange. One thing I missed was my Lumia 1520 and 930 colors! Those were colorful devices. I think that these stickers offer good ideas and ways to customize your device.

I know of 4 people with this phone, 2 have had mysterious bricking of the phone when they wake up.
After replacement they sold the device and moved on.
From looking at swappa and ebay there are a lot of people jumping ship to other devices already.
You may be right that my 75% is a little on the high side but I stand behind my thoughts that most people will move on within the next 6 months.
Either way, this phone is 6 months old now, development for products will be limited.
When a phone is released, that is when accessories are released also to gain sales from the initial surge of people buying the device.
Now is just too late for any meaningful number of sales to be made for a new product.
That said, there have been replacement backs available from china for quite some time.
If you check on google you will find plenty, however I do not recommend them.
I do not think they look any better than the original ones, and are cheaper quality.

Don't be disheartened. For every 1 with a problem there are 1000 more that are absolutely fine. The ratio is probably higher than that too.

Same! I currently have black carbon front, back and accents, but going to get a second back and apply the red carbon to it. I think it'll look awesome
