Hello there!
I am just asking, is it risky to flash the 14mb RAM hack on your chubby G1? I don't want to use fastboot or ADB or any of that stuff because I find it very confusing and I flashed the DangerSPL for CyanogenMod (That is the radio and SPL I am on now: Radio 2.22.19.26I HBOOT 1.33.2005 DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF) NO, I am not a noob in flashing stuff but I am a noob in the harder stuff So I am just asking if it's possible to flash it, and if it's possible can you put some files needed and a tutorial on it? Thanks for the person that reads it and helps me
Its risker to flash the 2708+ radio/spl combo from recovery but easily done. I suggest learning adb and fastboot because they are both very handy tools. Having said that I've flashed many g1s to the latest hboot via recovery. The zip files I believe are located in ezterrys thread. They're is one on the spl and one for either radio mentioned. Not @ a computer right now so I don't have the links. Search and you will find them

Can't see them in the EzTerry Thread, found another thread, but all links are from MegaUpload. If somebody has them on their computer, please attach them to your reply
I need them in a flashable ZIP file.....
the link works!!

Yeah, THAT one, but I mean another thread, and I can't find them in the EzTerry thread, like I said... When somebody finds it plz reply

http://rapidshare.com/files/431351258/update_2.22.28.25_S.zip
they are in that thread as well, in the op... remember this is not the recommended way but it does work
HUGE thanks demkantor, that really worked, but the 1.33.0013 to 1.33.0013d file didn't work when I flashed it. It said that it's only for the switch between those two, but I solved it by NOT rebooting it and finding the new file for it on the internet, I MAY goig to put a tutorial on it, but a little question, can yo please mention the dangers for flashing this, so i won't get sent to court or something..... But still THANKS!!!!!

You need to install the radio first, then the SPL. I HIGHLY suggest you do some reading before you attempt anything. Once and IF you brick your phone, there is no going back.
search for it. its all over the place.
i know that but i was hoping someone could help me on here and i have read many ways of doing this i was thinking about updating the radio first and then erasing that then putting on the spl what do i do to keep it from bricking lol i have already bricked one but i think i did the spl first
calm down and read bro
the information thread on this forum explains it all beggining at getting root access (DONT SKIP STEPS TRUST ME I KNOW) after i got all the way too rc33 from jesus frekes rom (found on the how to obtain root thread) then i updated the radio found at the htc website and then new spl(just type in new radio + spl) its alot prolly will take you a couple of hours
start out at how to obtain root - if you have that already then get the new radio from htc website and then get Hspl from one of these threads started by Haykuro
i know its tuff to get help all ppl wanna do is tell you to search without even giving you an idea
If you have already bricked one device i would suggest you stop modding your phone. Or maybe just search and actually read the forum.... (hint: there is a big sticky called "helpful thread", that may be a good place to get help)
i know what your saying i have all this done but i have trouble figuring out the spl lol. when its done do i click home and back or do i take my sd out and put the haykuro's 6.0r1 rom?

flash spl leave it there dont touch the anything take the sd put it in your computer if you have a card reader throw in the rom - put the sd back in your phone flash the update.zip and your good
if anyone wants to challenge my instructions feel free
ok since you dont wanna search. hit home and back. let it finish writing the spl before pulling the battery. you have to reapply a rom afterward so have a sd card reader handy....
please don't make another thread if you brick your phone. this thread is in the wrong section.

I personally would advise against using Haykuro's ROM. It's totally nothing against Haykuro at all, it just seems to me that you need to add more files to your system than any other ROM, which obviously provides a higher chance of bricking your phone, which I also have read as happening when doing so.
I would suggest you try Cyanogen's ROMs. There are links to all that you'll need in my signature if you decide to do that.
Agreed. If I were you i'd mess with the spl you have for now. Once you're comfortable flashing roms and themes and doing other mods to your phone then maybe, just maybe take the plunge. You'll notice a lot of people want to try the "new spl/rom" combination but, when it comes down to it most revert back to a different rom. Browse the forums for a minute and look at sigs. A lot more seem happy with JF's or cyan's rom. The larger roms are "cool" but just not meant to run on the G1/Dream.
Before doing anything do it like six times on paper, compare one provided solution to then next to make sure they jive, read past the solution a few pages to see if something was left out a later added to the thread(sometimes the OP doesn't update their post). Learn the terms and what they do
Also on the you're still a noob front, if you wish to rise above that some research is required. Questions are good and can help in a pinch but for general info (the stuff you should know before attempting to mod anything) it's more productive from a learning point to figure out the answer for yourself. I'm not just saying to search then copy/paste, but research and get an understanding what your doing. If you have no clue what you're doing then even when given an accurate solution there's still a good chance you will do something wrong.
Heh, not trying to flame ya, just help ya become a better modder. The spl and radio are core components of the G1's software and can easily get you into trouble. Roms on the other hand are an easy fix if fubar'd. Good luck..
Hello,

i suggest reading some more. to root rogers requires using fastboot. use the one click method (second link) to get the 1.33.2005 spl on your phone, then set up adb/fastboot then follow the fastboot commands in the first link, after that you can flash any ROM to your phone. the hardest part is setting up adb. which there it is getting your computer to recognize your phone.

do you need help finding the search option on the top of the page?
or maybe clicking the STICKY links that say
Don't Start A New Thread - Dream Questions & Answers Here!
and
***Informative Links*** - Read before clicking "New Thread" [08/28]
and even
[GUIDE] ADB, Fastboot, and Nandroid for Noobs
or maybe you just happened to pass up page 1 but didn't need help finding the "New Thread" link.
Look. I'm not trying to be a douche but if you want to get help then why don't you try doing it yourself instead of asking us to do it for you. If you want to mail me your G1 and I'll root it for you. Hell... I'll even partition your sd card to your liking. Just pay the s&h and $50. Otherwise you can save your time and money (and ours) by SEARCHING AND READING. You obviously know how to type so I assume you know how to read. You know how to post new threads so I'm sure you can easily click a link. Just combine searching, clicking and reading and you'll save a lot of time instead of waiting for someone to spoon feed you.
If you have no clue what your doing, then don't do it. Chances are you will mess it up. But if you really want to ROOT. THEN READ READ READ READ READ READ READ READ.

dude -.- just ignore it then. you don't have to be insulting.
You can try using the search function or even GOOGLE. If you dont find what you need THEN post here.
@OP
Turn off your phone.
Press and hold the camera and end button at the same time until a screen pops up.
if it says
HBOOT - 1.33.2005
and the Radio is x.xx.xx.26I (the "x" stands for the numbers before 26I I forgot what they were lol)
if they both say that then you are good in that department.
Just put the zip file onto the root of your sdcard and flash via Recovery
Can anybody point the way for a signed.zip for my HTC Incredible, is bricked (half bricked, I can boot into recovery and HBOOT am unrooted)
My problem is extremely complicated so if somebody could somehow help me by giving me a link of a signed update.zip I can apply in recovery and I could somehow downgrade my radio from 2.15 to any, I would deeply appreciated.
Thanks

you can only change your radio through HBOOT.. must be rooted.. needs to be renamed to PB31IMG.zip and SD card needs to be formatted to FAT32 to flash anything through HBOOT
you might want to fully unroot your phone and re-root it using doug pistons RUU http://dougpiston.com/
also please post questions in the Q&A forum for the droid incredible youll get more help over there then here... with the people on here now-a-days all theyll do is run their mouth to you since you made a simple mistake posting in the development section

Why don't you download a pb31img.zip with the radio you want? I think most are already packaged that way, flashable in hboot.
Or, maybe I missunderstood.

When I sent my old Inc back I had to do this...
- Flash the stock radio...
- Use the unrevoked.zip to flash S-On
- Then install RUU.
It worked fine...you will be able to RUU.
Edit: Also you can download these files and transfer them between a SD card reader from your computer if you cannot use the usb cord to go direct.
Unless I am missing something here...the OP isnt really clear with his 'situation'
Im not sure if I understand the issue here but why dont you download the froyo update zip file and place it on the sdcard and boot in Hboot and downgrade to stock and than just root your phone with unrevoke...??
I fixed it using this guide. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14440621.
Thank goodness, I'm lucky the resolution to my bricked phone was out last month.
I did have to root, and i rooted using some application there temporary and it worked. That was a life saver .
Now I just have to fix the meid since it says is unavailable.
And sorry I put in the wrong forum, I just thought it would go under Android Dev because it involved fixing a Android Os bug in the Froyo 2.2 leaked update.

Just a friendly word of advice. The development section is a place for devs to post their work such as ROMS and Kernels. The Q&A section is where you post for answers to problems. And work arounds, like your other post in here, would fit more into General. Eventually if you keep posting non development things in this forum someone will start flaming you and then things can get ugly. The moderators will eventually move these to the correct forums but I'm just giving you a heads up some people can get rather po'ed at the smallest infraction. Others don't care and will try and help you out regardless as you have seen.
Hey guys, I had dug out my old HTC G1 and was trying out the new roms. I was running on 2.3.4 I believe and before flashing anything I had made a Nandroid backup. After flashing couple of Roms i didn't like them and I tried to flash a specific one recommended by someone and after flashing my phone was stuck on the G1 screen and nothing after that.
So I went back into recovery and tried to flash the rom again and it didn't work, then I tried another rom which had previously worked and that one didn't boot up either and finally I tried to restore from Nandroid and that didn't work either, phone is still stuck on G1 screen as of right now.
I am attaching a picture of the Hboot and SPL etc if thats any help, but if someone could help me out it would be great I would hate to have this phone just be a paper weight.
Thanks again!
EDIT*
Guys the two posts that are in reply to this thread by me are from a different thread where I had originally reported my concerns, I have included them in this thread so in case anyone else is running into similar issues they can possibly obtain something useful from them.

If you were following the full directions in the banana bread thread then you would be at least attempting to use cmtd, but not a requirement. Yes you should update radio and SPL, as well as flash amonra recovery, no need to unroot. Just search out ezterrys thread in the developers section titled 2708+ update, and follow all steps there, even will find a link for amonra.
Search out cmtd if you want to learn more, not required hardly ever but can be nice. Also you can repartition SD when ever you want, no unroot needed for that, if you have further questions I suggest not leaving them in this unrelated thread as respect to developer
Edit, I see you already have another thread in the works, post any question there and someone will help, chances are the cmtd did work when flashing bannanabread which would make sense if you cant restore nandroid as partitions changed. Also note you need to do a full wipe, preferably a super wipe or fast boot -w in between ROM flashes, and yes even when restoring a nandroid

2. flash radio 2.22.27.08, reboot
3. flash hboot0013d, reboot
4. flash recovery-ra-dream-v1.7.0-automtd.zip reboot
make sure you have partitioned sdcard (swap, sd-ext - I recommend ext4)
then follow instructions from ROM topic
I'm sure it will work

Yea the links are down in that thread and banana gave me the links for specifically running bananabread rom, but im a bit confused that if i do use the automtd is that going to cause problems if I decide to change the rom from bananabread?
also there is another link that someone posted above (rooting guide in sense) and I was wondering if i followed that would that resolve anything...
going from having too little information now i have too much information and am confused as to which path to choose, right about right now I wish i was just prescribing a patient some medicine lol
thanks for your continuous help and i hope you can help me figure this out!

Okay so I seem to have gotten the issue resolved with the help of some great developers here. See the links and posts that are above and i recommend you use those steps also.
If you are still not rooted then try to provide more details in this post as to where you are stuck and ill see what i can help you with and im sure other people are going to be willing to help also.... Good luck!
