When i turn on mobile data, my phone loses ~7% of the battery per hour. I've already changed the battery about a month ago to a new one, what haven't solved the problem.
Also i have tried almost all available modems for the sgs and even for the nexus s (these modems work very good with only ~1% battery loss, but there is the problem that only the first phone call after reboot is working well).
Here is a screenshot of the battery life:

One time i thought that an app is using the data connection constantly, but the problem also consists with a fresh updates samsung stock build and all other kitchens (incl. ICS nighlies).
Can anybody help me solving this problem.
Thanks in advance!
Reset battery stats by charging to 100% (Full charge). Go to recovery and wipe battery stats. Continue charging for a further 30 mins. And wipe again.
See if that works
I tried this now with the same result...
It's not getting better, and i think the battery is not the problem. When i call someone the battery drains only about 8% an hour on 3G. The only problem is when mobile data connection is active and so i turn it off after useage, but thats not how a smartphone is supposed to be used.
Sure that no apps are running in the background like faceboor or whatsapp? Seems like something avoids the deepsleep.
I seem to have the exact same problem. The battery drain is caused solely by mobile data being on. When I switch to wi-fi the battery drain stops immediately.
I tried battery calibrations, fresh installs, complete wipes, using no apps, using all my apps, turning all sync off. I also tried different modems, and turning on/off roaming and other mobile data settings to see if they had any effect. Everything I do seems to have no effect on the battery drain except for turning off mobile data.
I added a screenshot to clarify what I mean; this is when using all apps on a moderate sync scheme (gmail and exchange on push, facebook/twitter/other apps either completely off or on 1-2 hour schedules, no changes made in apps or usage during the described period of use.)
Obviously, not using mobile data anymore is no solution to this problem.
I'm using Android 4.0.4 (Team Nyx's RC5, Devil 0.79, XXJVU modem).
I used the JVU modem for a couple of days but ZSJPG was a lot better, also the KF1 was better but not as stable as the ZSJPG.
I have this problem too, for battery when install some apps and open thats cpu usage in backgroun got very fast even if the phone is in Standby and all apps are cloused and my battery get low and lower in les 24 houres . I have this problem in my I9000T 2.3.3
can any boddy help me

I tried the ZSJPG modem as well. It didn't make any difference; same behaviour. I now removed my APN settings; I now temporarily only use wi-fi. It'll easily reach 36 hours now, so no battery problems either.
Did you try a full wipe (realy everything incl. internal SD card, go back to the original firmware (samfirmware.com) and install your custom rom again.
(p.s. a small tip, i'm using tiramislim v2 right now, and its seriously GREAT, also with battery! Devil kernel / zsjpg modem)

As I said, yes. Multiple times even. No improvement whatsoever.
I think this could be related to carriers network as many mobile networks are build just before rise of smartphone era. I heard of Fast Dormancy technology which alows disconnect smartphone from mobile data as single session stops. This problem exists not only on our Sgs.
Ask your carrier if it is going to use this near future.

That would be true if I had the same problem before updating to 4.0.4, but I had excellent battery life before the update with mobile data on.

First of all , I really like the work onecosmic has been doing , keep up the good work !
I am currently using the RC2.1 build combined with fugo kernel . so far epic . I'd really want to use this rom on daily basis but the problem is that i get horrible battery life. at first I reflashed everything (including all wipe needed in the order specified) but that didn't help . I am currently on my 4th or 5h cycle of calibration but it gets worse every time .
here is a screen shot from the 2nd cycle (started fully charged ):

i lost 75% in 5hrs of normal+- use . :\
here is one from now (started fully charged )
40% in one hour . i played a couple of games for 20 minutes and thats it . it dropped me to 79% and than i stopped using my phone . the battery dropped alone to about 60% short time after that .
What can i do to improved it ? I tried to avoid widgets , reflashing and wiping , other kernels that seem to mess up my rom and get the home button not to work (nushors) ...
I thank you all in advance for your , I hope you could help me solve my problem

Check in battery settings what is using your battery so much.. if anything other than Android OS (could be till 30-40%) is consuming your battery.. take action regarding that..
if this doesn't work, then clear your battery stats through recovery and calibrate for another 3-4 full charge/discharge cycles.. should solve your problem
Tried everything . battery still sucks
I think it's the HSPA/WCDMA network type. I use GSM only and I get 1day +.
You forgot to post most importat thing, how long display was on. From screens I can see it was on alot.
If it had 3-4 hours, it's probably okay since you had data enabled aswell.
try buid 13 teamhacksung.
I'm on it! And it's better than CM7.

What means better than CM7? Can you give an example: e.g. 2 days with normal usage.
I don't have good battery life too. We just need to wait for devs to improve it...
music player not working
video player not showing all videos
can't add or remove homescreens
m on glitch kernell
Okay, means we still have to wait.

@chriss23: how is your battery expierence with build 13?
i am on the second battery cycle with onecosmics mod. normal use of the phone and 63% left after 32hours. its ok but when i use some apps the battery drains one percent on only a few minutes. iam unsure if this is normal. usage of android os in battery stats says 26%.. in gingerbread, this was too much but would you say its normal on ics?
thank
Hello all. I had also battery issues with the new roms of ICS. I exclude usage of data which one way or another makes things worse. I believe that issues will be fixed soon since the difference between the first versions of roms and the newest ones is significant. Freezing also some unneeded background processes always help (i use titanium for this). Playing among different kernels and undervoltaging can also help.
Hello, can someone give me a hand with the analysis of my battery consumption?
I used to get 3-4-5 hours of Sceen On time. Now I can barely get 2 hours!

With this last image I have no idea why it shows this. I've never been without internet, and I always have 3G coverage except in a few instances when I'm on the train going through a small tunnel or something (it drops to GPRS for about 30 or 40 seconds).
Thanks guys... I'm so confused...
cool picks, got cpuspy pics of same timeframe?
I like to cross reference and check if numbers add up.
Did you switch roms/ kernel lately, or update?
Battery getting full charge? mv?
Now the partial wakelocks are interesting. Try switching off fast dormancy by dialling *#9900# and selecting option that should/could take care of svnet.
Audioout probably by turning off options in settings then sound then all bottom choices.
the rest I am not sure, google partial wakelock and the service name.
Other then that, if nothing has changed except battery lifetime. Try safe kernel, then completely go to zero situation where you were getting the better battery life, then eliminate other apps perhaps.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I'm on full stock 2.3.6. I don't really like the ics builds. No other apps to measure.
The kernel is always the highest usage on my phone. What can cause that?
I'll still CPU spy and run it tomorrow and republish here. Thanks for your reply.

Hello zkyevolved, which version of BetterBatteryStats are you using?
I ask this because on my device, under Other and Since unplugged options, there is no Deep Sleep entry directly below Wifi Running. The entry shown directly below Wifi Running is Awake.

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I checked my version and it's 1.9.0.0. It was just updated the other day if I recall correctly.
I will update again today after a full days use in the battery. I'll post again with screenshots from both applications.
For the moment I've only disabled fast dormancy.

awesome. You know analyzing is pretty difficult on android lol. sometimes I get frustrated and just reset to starting conditions and reinstall everything. Which is safe on gb, not ics due to superbrickbug triggers in ICS kernel.
Analyze first though Am interested in results.
If battery life is important and you dont mind warrantee, I can recommend the k2-11 or k2-12 speedmod kernel on gb roms. It was best batterylife for me 4-5 hours full screen on time.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
a quick recheck, in current pictures you have 11 hours of measurement time with only 5 in deep sleep and 2 hours onscreen time?
That means 3 hours phone is awake. So it does seem classic deepsleep issue. I am no pro btw, but thats what I suggest monitoring for now.
When phone doesnt deepsleep cpu cycless on 200mhz doing nothing, that consumes energy, we are looking to minimize that.
Some of the stuff I mentioned earlier, partial wakelocks is whats actually keeping phone awake. I hope the fast dormancy off takes care of some keep awake time.
Now when measuring dont check phone every five, ten, twenty minutes, sometimes it takes about 15 min to go to deepsleep, thusvyour manually keeping it awake. Been there done that.

Hey everyone! Here are some updated screen shots:
This was my activity today: I did listen to some music, I mostly answered messages. Browsed very little. I skyped over HSPA for about 5 minutes. I went for a quick jog with endomondo using the GPS and music in the background via bluetooth for a total of 30 minutes. I used wifi for most of the day. As you can see, for a 2/3 of the day it was in deep sleep, while the rest was a mix of other speeds. I imagine 200-500 was the light usage (endomondo with screen off, bluetooth headphones, skyping OTA, etc.) and when the screen was mostly on and browsing, taking screen shots (I took a lot today, to annotate the screens I was looking at), etc.
Thanks everyone for your continued help.
Ohh, and the SVNET service is still there, I turned it off yesterday, and then today at around 5 o'clock I saw that I had about the same battery left as other days, so I turned it back on again.
ok then its something else keeping svnet up. Dunno about that.
For the rest its best for comparison of stats to measure same timespan, so reset stats when you unplug phone.
Anyway it is deepsleep issue, your phone is not appearing to go to deepsleep ideally.
Cause I cant make out the numbers from what I see, and what it is keeping awake, I recommend starting new. So save messages with an app from play, apps with titanium backup, and efs folder if you never saved, check my thread on that. Contacts and calander in gmail. Photos manually Backup on external sd card and remove after.
On GB do a factory reset with code in dialer ending in 3855, that completely resets device. That should do the trick. I think from settings storage format sd card, not sure if factory reset does that.
If you dont care for warrantee then perhaps speedmod k2-12 kernel is a good alternative to stock gb kernel in terms of battery life
That should fix it. Just dont restore apps with data, let it repopulate itself, that way if something is messed up there you can catch it.
If I am missing something, and anyone reads this, I am keen to learn

I had the same problem this week. After half a day my battery was empty. I noticed that an application was using WiFi a lot. BetterBatteryStats couldn't give me enough information.
The problem was caused by K-9 mail. Accounts with IMAP settings made K-9 constantly polling. After changing it to POP3 the problem was solved. If you use K-9 mail, give it a go.
Me too!
I have this problem too, but I am not an expert with software, so someone please help us, I don't know how to solve this problem!
i had this problem mine is working again no data loss for a week .
what i did was flashed darky 10.2 re the went and flashed alliancerom jw4 then jw8 downloaded apn tweaker from google play store phone working normal again

Hi guys. I've changed my service provider several days ago. Before that I've used 2g mobile operator with poor cover and internet. So I've bought 3g and inserted sim-card into my 2x. After that my battery disarched after 4 hours of sleep. Ok, I've switched to 2g only mode. It didn't fixed my problem. I've even disabled mobile data and it didn't worked!
With my previous 2g operator, my phone worked 1-2 days of full using, emails, mobile internet, music, youtube etc...
I use stable [ROM] [2013-02-08] CM10 on Unlocked ICS Bootloader (pengus77) and stable 100p5 Kowalski Kernel.
I'm living in Ukraine. My old mobile operator was "Life!" and new is "OGO Ukrtelecom" with fallback to 2g operator "Kyivstar".
Maybe I must change sim or BB? Can someone help me?
PS. Sorry for my bad english and russian screens.

Thanks, I will do this!
So I've found the solution for better battery life:
1. v30b BB.
2. Pengus cm10 look ma no nands. (not tonyp rom, it has really crappy battery life for me).
3. kk123 and all optimization fixes in Kowalski manager, excluding dynamic fsync (unstable).
4. Greenify.
5. Disable all location services.
6. !Using ONLY wall charger, because kk isn't works normally with usb charger at this time!
7. !3g/2g only, NO wi-fi when not near wall charger! ( WCDMA preffered in *#*#4636#*#* )
8. Disable IMS in *#*#4636#*#* .
With this I can normally use my phone all the day without charging.
I'm having issues.. I've been always lurking XDA (years now) I do not post frequently.. After my nexus 4 (3 years) I got my new nexus 6; I' ve always rooted them, etc.. this time after a couple of weeks (2-3) I rooted and got my franco kernel.. anyways everything was fine till a day that I ****'d up a flashed M by mistake, I had to re-do all my stuff after restoring latest 5.1.1 android version..
The thing is now my battery is dieing just too far. No geo-location, no bluetooth, no nfc, no LTE (only using 3g), mostly wi-fi, NO WAKELOCKS! and still its dieing too fast for the non use that im giving it..
For example
Yesterday night before sleeping it was 78% .. when i woke up: 40% it had 6 hours of deep sleep and still the battery drain was just insane..
Any ideas boys? Should i close bootloader and restock this and send to motorola for a change or what? Let me know which logs do you need.

Wipe cache and dalvic cache that is a usual fix and simply flash elite kernel recommended I charge from 10 pm to 6 am and at 7 am im still at 98%
Lots of deep sleep
Use CPU spy app to look at deep sleep
Another fix for alot Samsung users was to disable volte under call settings and WiFi calling when not using it .Screen time out to, 15 seconds all the usual settings disabling
Best of luck

Did the davilk cache and cache wipe (didnt flash elite kernel) and everything is going well right now.. thanks alot
will report back if anything new pops, thanks man!
edit: lets not sing victory, keep the suggestions coming.
What rom are you running? Maybe I missed that part? Dont forget to turn off auto-brightness that is a real batter killer
Edit I see that you are on stock, sorry.
Do you have a good data connection at night? I know when I had sprint I had to connect to a wifi at night or my batter would be half way gone over night because it would search for signal.
Do you have the search for wifi even when disabled turned off under wifi advanced settings?
Hey, i had wifi always on but that was not the issue, it was not a data related.. After 24 hours my battery is alive again seems like dalvik cache and cache wipe worked out, i did try the wifi off but it was not making any difference.

Just for pictute proof the battery life gets better if you just charge decharge correctly
Getting estimated 24+hrs all day 7 am today until 7am tomorrow ... Providing how much you use the phone
Screen time out 15 seconds GPS off WiFi off or on only use one!!
Brightness down to 1\4 way that's all you need cause screen is bright even at that setting.
And If you want a great combo flash Sinless rom and elite kernel wipe dalvic and cache reboot!
