I have .mp4 files that I play on my windows media player on my phone and I cant figure out how to add chapters to it. I saw there are some tricks to use for apple but not having luck turning anything up for windows.
I could solve all of this if I could get AVRCP to work with coreplayer on my HTC TP2
Check this out.
Thank you, I have actually been to this page before but I noticed a large number of people had issues (movie played 2 times, white screen after 3 minutes). Have you used this before and had success?
also m .mp4 files are not encoded to Ipod, well some of them are, do you know if that will be an issue?
Any idea where to get any of those files on the net to import into this? for example I have some workout videos, I don't want to have to sit and mark down the chapter times for each video if I can help it.
Right now I see Metachimp or something like that has something sort of but I dont see the chapter times.

Hey all,
one of my first posts here at XDA-dev, been reading for ages but have become more vocal since picking up my Kaiser.
I would like to know how other peoples' experiences with the device have gone in regards to streaming video over Wifi to your device.
Let me explain a bit better: I'm in the kitchen whipping up some dinner and decide to watch some divx encoded anime on my Kaiser. I fire up Resco network explorer and browse my PCs network shares and find a file, select it and execute it.
The problem I am encountering is that either the device or the player are struggling to keep up. I know for a fact that all my other devices like other desktops and laptops stream no problem.
Finding that the Kaiser plays for 5 or so seconds no worries then up pops the 'processing' wheel/indicator in the middle of the screen.
If I'm not mistaken, it's either a) downloading more data to cache or b) it can't keep up and needs to process it further.
What confuses me is that the same encode running off the microSD card (not even SDHC) runs perfectly.
If you could share your thoughts/experiences or tweaks that would be great!
Thanks in advance.

You Kaiser can't handle streaming video that was meant for the processing power of your PC. You can try ORB which will work a lot better.
In my long experience with WM, downloading itself uses a lot of processing cycles, so transferring and decoding data at the same time does not work very well, unless one of them is not very demanding.
Surur
hrmm good points all around, I will give orb a try
Thanks kindly
I have encounter the same when I was testing stream video to my cell. I have tweak the buffer on TCPMP and it didnt work that well. I believe the problem in on the video size. You may have to convert it to 240x320 screen size. I have tested on Final Fantasy VII. It was a 1.3Gb file and converted to 240x320 in MP4. The file size is 485mb. It works great. The picture is sharp by compare to original video.
Orb maybe a solution, but if you are a P2P user. It will slow down your upload speed.
The program I am using to convert to 240x320 is " Cucusoft iPod Movie-Video Converter v3.12 " . This is a older version, but it can covert AVI, Divx, RM & RMVB file to MP4. As long as you have the correct decoder in your PC, it can decode almost anything. This software is design for iPod video, but TCPMP support MP4. Which makes this a great tool for convert video to smaller size. Best of all, it does batch video conversion. Which means just drag all the video that you want to convert in to the program and just hit convert button. I have a lot of good quality MTV clips and the size are from 25mb to 60mb. It helped me carry more videos on my 4Gb SD card.
I have some education audio clips I downloaded from an Emergency Medicine website that I want to play on my Tilt.
I tried using TCPMP 0.71RC but says I don't have the AAC codec. I did some searching around this forum and there was mention that version 0.81 has the codec I need but is grossly slower.
SO, what is the standard everyone uses around here for itunes/aac file playing around here?
Thanks!
Mmmm.. maybe this one?

thanks that worked... now I just have to get this damn playlist thing figured out
I recommend PocketMusic v5.0. It costs a few bucks, but I think it's worth it... Has support for AAC, OGG etc..
Yes.... I use it as well

iTunes stuff on Tilt w/WMMP
This may help some of you trying to use playlists you've created in iTunes that you want to be able to use to play aac files with Windows Mobile Media Player on your Tilt. It took me a long time to get this figured out; hopefully I can save you some.
I have roughly 120gb of music files in iTunes, all of which are aac formatted. I don't want to mess around with converting any of them to another format (and be creating dupe files) so that WMP can see and play them, which is a necessary step if you want any sync capability with your Tilt - without drag copying the files and then having to manually create playlists a song at a time. The playlist thing is the key though. Many of us have spent HOURS developing playlists in iTunes only to be stymied when trying to use them on a ppc (or a Treo like my old 650 for that matter running Pocket Tunes).
Thanks largely to the excellent support people at NormSoft (makers of Pocket Tunes, which is a great, great app), here's the solution I've cobbled together. First, get this: http://www.3ivx.com/download/ - you can try it for free, but the version you need beyond that is less than $10. Install it on your pc. Now open WMP and tell it to add your iTunes folder to the library. You should start to see all your aac files show up - not necessarily with album art and all the tags, but that's another, less important issue, at least to me. You also won't be able to do this with protected (drm) files.
Now dload Playlist Creator from here: http://www.oddgravity.de/ and open it after installing it. Open iTunes. Select a playlist in iTunes. Select all the tunes in that playlist and drag them over onto the Playlist Creator window which will populate it. Tell Playlist Creator where to put the playlist(s) you're about to create (you can create a new folder I think) - I made one I call "My Generated Playlists". Give the playlist a name and make sure you save it as a m3u playlist (not pls.). Click the "Create Playlist" button. Go back to WMP and tell it to add your generated playlists folder to the library. Now it'll show up as a playlist in WMP that you can select and play tunes from. Connect your Tilt. Drag the playlist to the Sync List sidebar. Hit the start sync button. Voila. The songs AND the playlist(s) are now on your Tilt. I haven't done this with huge playlists yet, just 20 song or so ones right to the Tilt's memory (not an expansion card - I'm waiting for delivery of one), but it seems to work.
Hope I got this all right and it works for you too. Enjoy.
The zip file in post 2 worked a treat on my old XDA II. Thanks Laurentius26!
On my Kaiser I took some movies. They were in .MP4 format. I copied the files to my PC and when trying to play them on the PC (by double-clicking on the file in the windows explorer) - I get this error message in a dialog box:
Title: Error
Text: Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie (VIDEO_011.MP4)
When I try to open the file in the latest updated version of Windows Media Player 11, I get an error message saying it cannot play this sort of file. I do have MP4 codecs on my PC as well.
Lastly, when I copy the files back onto my PPC and then open the camera application, I am still able to open and play the files with no problem on the Kaiser.... so there is nothing wrong with the files... so what the heck?!?! HALP!
try quicktime it does a good job with mp4 files
people been reporting mixed results getting mp4 codecs to play
in other players sometimes there were no audio somethings it dident work
at all
Perhaps you could try googling 'K Lite Media pack'. This is highly recommended by many, and it works great for me. It plays so many different file types, such as flv files (say if you downloaded a youtube video and wanted to play it straight away) and I'm pretty certain, MP4 files too. The player you play videos with is called 'Media Player Classic'.
yes, get k lite mega codec pack
Tilt MP4 Videos unviewable on PC - Vista Ultimate Upgrade results in...
I even upgraded to Windows Vista (via download) to try to get this to work. I figured waiting long enough after it first comes out (it's been one YEAR), they would have ironed out all the bugs. Also figured since Vista SP1 was about to come out I could stumble along with whatever my issues were until it was released in case I still had problems...
I am more gutsy than most to do things like this with my PC because I automated a backup of only files that have changed, the first time I turn on my PC each day, to an external drive which I can just grab and run with in case my home ever catches on fire, etc. Runs in the background and only takes about 10 minutes, that has saved my butt more than once...
I specified only upgrade rather than a fresh install, so none of my programs or data would be lost:
1. All my data was lost anyway !!!!! Thank goodness for the backups!
2. All my browser favorites were blown away !!!! Thank goodness for the backups!
3. Almost everything also worked except for several drivers that I had to go to the vendor's website to download an upgrade. Good thing I am not using any hardware from vendors that have gone out of business. (I had to replace an old leading-edge technology $2,000 flat panel monitor because of that once.)
4. Tilt MP4 Videos unviewable on PC !?!!? AARRRGGGGGGGGHHGGHGHGGGHHHHH!
I'll try the "K Lite Mega Codec Pac" but have a couple of questions in the next post -
- Kruse
K Lite Mega Codec Pac
What "K Lite Mega Codec Pac" do to your PC? Is it removeable? Does it overwrite other codecs you might have? Does it come with a program for managing your codec settings and what is in use vs. not in use, or what?
Let me know, I really want to try it but I will wait for your response/s...
i would advise against using k-lite codec pack, if you really want a good codec pack, try cccp.
however, if all you wanna do is just watch the mp4 files, i suggest that you just use vlc, linky
Why is cccp better?
Why is cccp better, and how do I removed the codecs which I prefer not to use?
well, cccp is technically not a codec pack......its a filter pack, and has quite a few endorsements, its definitely the way to go if u need to play multiple video formats. the problem with most codec packs is there's high chances of damaging ur system if you dont know what you are installing. you may end up having multiple codecs for one video format. most ppl would tell you to avoid using any codec pack because the problems it would cause, i used to think the same, until i discovered cccp, seriously excellent when it comes to mkv playback.
however, like i said, if you're worried so much about codecs being installed on your system, just go ahead and use vlc, its a standalone player with its own decoders, doesnt install any codecs to your system watsoever.
I have converted from an iPhone to the HTC Fuze. I still have some audio files that are .mp4. I am interesting in playing audio more than video. Can I get the stock player to play these?
If not, what is the best player to download (for free) for playing audio .mp4 files?
Thanks
If they are DRMed, you'll have to search on how to un-DRM them (I wouldn't ask about that here though). If they are not DRMed, you can play them in Windows Media Player.
I know about the DRM thing, but last time I checked, Windows Media does not play mp4. Am I wrong?
With regard to audio files from iTunes (m4a/AAC/mp4 or whatever you want to call them), they will play just fine via the music player interface in Touch Flo 3d. The only problem I've encountered is that for some reason the audio manager will not sort songs in track order. As yet I have not found a fix for this (and no one else seems to be asking about it either). Still, at least I didn't have to convert my iTunes library into MP3 files ; )
Purchased tracks will not play (in fact they will not even be visible).
Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a coding/decoding algorithm mainly used by iTunes to protect the artist and to ensure that the artist gets money for his work since you as a consumer ay have purchased a song or album online. All your own CD's which you may have read-in (ripped) through iTunes will play without any problems.
DRM files, though they appear as MP4 files, cannot be played without the appropriate decoder (iTunes for example).
Ways and methods HOW to bypass this mechanism MUST NOT be discussed here in the forum, do a google research if you interested in.
BTW same issues may happen if you go from iPhone to iPhone or transfer files from PC to PC even if you backed up your iTunes license.
You may bear an Apple store a visit or call Apples cust. support they can provide you with a special key that you do not have to purchase all your songs again.

Track sorting seems to be a general problem of the TF3D player. If you for example have an album which contains two CDs the TF3D player is not able to sort it correctly. It's stupidly sorting:
Track 1 CD1
Track 1 CD2
Track 2 CD1
Track 2 CD2
[...]
Therefore I'm using Pocket Player instead.

Is there a way to launch Pocket Player from TF3D in place of the in-unit player?? I have been searching for an answer for a week here and found not a clue. Any help with this would be appreciated, otherwise I will just launch from programs as I am now doing, but it seems a waste to have a nice tab wasted!

No, I don't think so. Unfortunately the only think you can do is completely disabling the TF3D player by removing it with AdvancedConfig.
I wonder if it's possible to at least get the Audio Manager to play tracks according to file name. At least that way if tracks were numbered 01, 02 etc that would get around the problem of it not seeing the track number in the tag.
Trouble is I can't work out how to do this.... I've been rumaging in the registry under HKLM\software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng but there doesn't seem anything obvious to me. Maybe a key could be added? Anyone got any ideas?
How about mp4 video?
It took 20 minutes to load a video mp4 file onto my microsd card, but it's there. Windows Media Player won't recognize it. The video player app portion of the camera will actually play the file, but it takes several seconds to launch and is generally choppy after that. It's a shame, too, because the video quality is great ... it's just very choppy.
Is there Windows Mobile player out there somewhere that plays these mp4 files SMOOTHLY? I knew the Tilt had issues with the driver not playing video smoothly, but I didn't think it was a problem with the Fuze. Sure would like to watch some quality video in mp4 mode on my Fuze rather than my video ipod.
I love this forum, alot of smart people here (usually).
To talk of disabling software or this drm would be wrong. But Itunes itself posesses a way for you to back up your music. Its totally legit, and a common problem out there. (itunes not playing on winmo or other devices).
So if its a totally legit way of using the itunes program itself, to simply create a backup of your songs... why is it so horrible to discuss?
No one is suggesting hacking or disabling the drm, simply getting the music they paid for to work.
Has anyone managed to find a way to play MPEG2 videos natively (i.e. without conversion) on the TD2 yet? Coreplayer 1.3.2 doesn't support it, neither does Windows Media Player or TF3D2. The main reason I want this feature is so I can dump TV recordings made on my PS3 (using PlayTV) onto my phone and watch them on the train to/from work.
As this would be a daily occurence, converting them to another format isn't going to be viable, I don't have the time or the patience :O)
If anyone has a solution, that'd be groovy, ta!
haha... i was gonna post the same question... I am still looking for an answer too googling around... will let you know when (if) I find something....
