hold the shutter button and it will focus... what else could possibly be your problem?
I put my Bionic in the microwave for 2 minutes and now it takes a perfect picture every time and FAST!
JK, don't do it. Wait for Moto to release an update.

I stand corrected... if you are in low light, click the settings button then the A - change it to the hand picture. Try manually.
That's a little bit better...
Still get that glow of monitors around me, but I guess that's just a limitation of the CCD...
light is your friend... make sure light is on.
Try camera360

Im on the other side of the fence... I hate the thunderbolt camera lol
The autofocus bothers the hell out of me. When it does what it is supposed to, its wonderful. Otherwise I just plain want to throw the phone.
Here is a video I shot, and if you notice, the thing is focusing throughout.....kind of irritating, even tho I am happy with the quality.

I dont really practice low light pictures but ill be sure to try it at some point
yeah i am VERY disappointed in the camera quality. I do like the video though. The snaps are meh.
i thought the pictures i took so far with the camera came out great. if youtr holding the camera every time you move your hand, it will try to refocus the image. with your skates, id think that with the flashing lights the sensor sees that as movement and tries to refocus.

I thought the reviews were just being harsh, but after playing with the HD at the store, the camera is really disappointing. Especially compared to the other options out there (HTC One X). Any chance these short comings can be fixed with a OTA update? Or does the camera suffer for a cheaper price point?
I have been getting pretty decent and good pictures. But then again I am no photographer

That's good to know. Maybe it was just the lighting in the store or an effect someone had put it on. Thanks mqguitar!
It could have been here are some quick pictures I took without adjusting and doing quickly. I will take some more with macro too also. Hope this helps

The Camera Quality looks good to me. It's a lot better than the Atrix 2's 8MP Camera.
Image quality has been better than I expected from the reviews - I think it's usable and I'm into photography (of course, for nice pics I'll use a real camera).
Its about as good side by side with the s3 just has a blue tint to everything

I ended up getting the HD and I agree with all of you. The camera really is not bad at all. It is much better than the demo model I used in the store. I wonder what the issue was. Either way I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks for sharing some of your shots too!

Its the lighting in AT&T stores. It looks bright because of the stores themes bright orange and Blue death star. You'll really come to notice that the lights are dimmed a little just so the screens look nice and it's harder to see all the scratches left by people who played with the demo model.
The Camera is really effected by lighting, but it can be fixed with some of the camera's built in pre-settings.
Besides, the trend is instagram these days. Blurry out of focus over saturated pictures are the popular thing now. *shakes head and shrugs*
I have seen all sorts of goofy iPhone camera attachments...
What I would love to see is a bracket that snaps on the sides of the N7 that has mirrors that allow pictures to be taken add if the camera was actually rear facing...
Sure would make it easier to take pics with the N7...
And yes I do want to use my N7 to take pics for online use even though it is only a low resolution camera. I sell a lot online & the N7 camera is fine... Holding the tablet facing something and trying to line it up is awkward...
I am envisioning a cheap Chinese made single selling for $8.99 shipped from Taiwan...

Same here... I would love that. Also a bit of searching on the this forum and a rooted nexus 7 you can bring the camera to shoot 720p video in quite easy steps. I have also noticed that under the hood of the nexus is a neat place to install a rear camera

Not quite all the war round to the back, but half way there:

I'm sure I have seen a prism lens on a bracket, again on Kickstarter, to do what you suggest.
Interesting but if i understood correctly it goes better with the included app for lens correction.
Honestly it would be better to pledge to a company that would make a product that would be kinda universal instead of apple products.

Your kidding me right? The camera is amazing, its not even comparable :what:
The quality is outstanding and the colors are just so vibrant. Completely wrecks my S3.
Well think about how would flash work with the modes that take multiple shots and/or combine them? Obviously those special settings wouldn't be optimal in low light settings where flash is necessary.

The number one reason I upgraded over my HTC Evo 4G LTE was for the better camera in the S4, specifically outdoor/daylight. And I've been testing the heck out of it. Takes spectacular pictures! I'm very happy with the camera. Sport mode works great for non-blurry images of fast moving objects, too. Flash only works in a couple of modes, but that makes sense given most of the modes it's not available in.

I found it slow at first, then i turn on Sport Mode and its pretty fast. I think it all depends on the configuration of the Mode you have ON.
Man I haven't touched the settings at all, besides in noticed that it wasn't set to 13 megapixels at first. Which I thought that was strange. But I think the camera is the best I've used so far.

You're close. The pixels are actually twice the size and the sensor itself is the same size as most 8mp and even some 13mp sensors - it only has a maximum 4mp resolution output though which makes it a 4 megapixel camera.

My thing is after us finding out that the camera is not defaulted to 13 megapixels, I question the validity of any of these comparison reviews because for all we know they are shooting pictures while still on 8 megapixels
Dumb question but how do we change the mega pixels in the camera. I am struggling to find this setting.
Duh. Nvm found it.

Sorry I don't have any photos worth sharing yet. But the Camera is perfectly fine.
I think the Dual Camera stuff is pure gimmickry. It's cute for about 5 minutes.
It does not focus "out of focus" pictures. Everything has to be in focus like a normal shot and it then it can Defocus what you don't want.
Basically emulated Len Bokeh effect.
I never found the old EVO 3D to be gimmickry. It really worked and I just retired my wife's 3D to give her the old HTC One. She's bummed she is losing the 3D.
Problem with that 3D camera though is it was very slow and very hard to get shots in focus. But if you did or had enough light the 3D effect was pretty impressive.
One thing the second camera might do is help with focusing and focusing quick. That might not be gimmickry and possibly useful.
If HTC Marketed that instead, they might actually make a profit.
Coming from the s3 which has a great camera, I'm curious how the m8 camera's picture quality compares to it (as well as the s4 & s5) when it comes to just regular everyday photos. Even if they are larger "ultra pixels", 4mp seems pretty weak compared to other devices.

My M7 absolutely puts the Note 2's camera to shame.. So. Expect a big jump as compared to the S3. I also wasn't impressed with the S4's camera. My pics always looked better then my friends at the same events.
I don't expect much out of the S5 either.
Literally the only thing with 4mp, is that you cant crop or zoom in on your pictures. Even with that one flaw, its been my favorite camera of anything i've ever used.
I am not a good photographer and don't really mess with the camera settings at all.
