I'm running Slim 3.2 completely stock. Whenever i receive a call the touch screen is completely unresponsive. I have to power off/on the screen to get it to work. I didn't see anything in the development thread and i googled it. Any help would be appreciated.

Apart from a full wipe format /system and reflash I don't know what else it could be.
That's what i was thinking, i was just hoping to avoid that. These things always seem to happen when you get your phone set up perfectly.

I ended up wiping cache and reflashed the modem. It's been working fine ever since. Sometimes it just the simple things.

I'm currently running a damage rom and experienced a problem when I tried to flash a theme into my phone that I later learned was for a different rom. Now my settings app is gone, adb turned off, and I can't turn it back on, any suggestions? Thanks

I hope you did a nandroid before you did this?? if so just nandroid restore. if not then i would suggest reflashing the Rom your on.
How do I get to the nandroid though without adb on?

Boot into recovery. With the phone powered off, press and hold the home key and turn the phone on. After a few seconds, you should be at the recovery menu. Do a nandroid restore if you made one.
thanks, running it now, just for future reference, how often would you say to make a nandroid backup incase something happens?

Backups are only really necessary before you change big things in your phone. Like flashing a new ROM or kernel mainly. You won't always need to backup on just a regular everyday-use basis, but of course it never hurts.
Got everything back, thanks for all the help, it was greatly appreciated

Looks like the ROM isn't installed well. Please revert back to stock, and install the ROM again. And hey, please download the ROM again. Sometimes even downloads can be bad, not just installs.
Revert back to stock using the Odin 1-Click back to JH7 then attempt to re-flash.
But - I hear some complaints about DG's latest Cognition build so I would poke around there before deciding to re-flash to see if there are still any issues.
Two sources for that fc that I have found:
1 and least likely is a bad flash. Go back to stock with odin and then reflash the rom. You will have to do this anyway so no big deal.
2 the only way i have encountered this bug is from resorting system data with titanium backup. Only restore user apps unless it its the same rom build as it will always cause nasty bugs and fcs
Just my two cents though

Reflash from stock.
That happened to me the first time i flashed my phone on day one. Went to recovery and wiped user data and problem solved
i think its something with the titanium backup cause
it only started saying force close after i restored all apps + data...
anyway thanks everyone

Yea... I've had that happen before - you should be able to safely re-install APPS ONLY - sometimes things get corrupted (especially for me Launcher Pro) when I tried doing a TiBu backup/restore.
Hey,
this problem started only today and has never happened before. The only things changing were some app updates and a few new installs. I already uninstalled all of the apps installed in the last few days in hopes of reverting the situation but it didn't help. And after I made the first reboot when the apps began to force close randomly it looked like a semi factory reset was made. All my contacts are gone, there are no SMS/call logs, but all SMSes, pictures and videos are still there. If I try to open the Market app it asks me if I accept TOS, Gmail is not set, mobile internet is not working (due to reset settings), Wi-Fi and bluetooth settings are still there. In short, everything is half-fuc*ed.
What do you thing happened? And is there any possibility I can go back to a normal state without starting from fresh?

Go into Recovery and Fix Permissions, then reboot and see if that has fixed the problem.
Flash a new stock rom to solve this issue..

Oh yeah, and another thing. Market, Youtube and Maps apps where all a few version lower than before and started updating immediately after opening the Market app. Market still is (even the old design and everything). How can this be?

I'm trying to avoid that at the moment. Just for the time being so I can make a complete backup of all my stuff.

Same as above. For now.
i9000 random loss of data
Yes, this is a rather old thread I'm trying to revive here, but as it is adviced to continue those instread of duplicating them, here are my issues:
I gave my i9000 to a relative ~a year ago and recently it started acting strange. About 1-2 times a month I get a call from that relative saying: "I get a lot of force closes, phone is unusable, nothing works". I then walk over, take a look and yes, unusable. It appears that all information in the /system partition gets lost for no reason. The relative told me that this usually happens when some google apps are updating, but it might still be random.
Currently MackayRom (latest) is installed.
Usually when I got the call, I hopped over to my relative, did a factory reset (wipe of /system and /data + Cache and Dalvik Cache) then reflashed the ROM and Gapps and everything looked good again. Sadly the issue continues to return.
What I tried so far is a complete wipe of anything, reverting to a stock TW Rom, and going back to an AOSP Rom from there (first CM 11, then Mackay). The issue appeard to be gone afterwards, I didn't hear from that relative for an unusual amount of time, but after a month or 1 1/2, it returned.
My guess is, that one of the chips that are containing the /system partition is broken or at least close to die (I'm not sure if it is just one or multiple chips, since the CM Team or Pawit himself changed something in the partition structure somewhere between cm10, cm10.1 and cm11 to ensure the compatibility of that old device with KitKat). Anyways, I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions on how to solve this issue (although I reached a point where I think that solving this isn't possible anymore, unless I wanna swap the Mainboard, which would mean paying an amount of money that I could get a new phone for as well.) Soon as I have the time, I'll Odin-flash the latest TW Rom to the device and have my relative use that for a while, just to see if the different/older partition structure helps in any way.
Thanks in advance for any replies .
After flashing some new roms lately, I've been unable to restore my user apps with data, or else the apps will force close (weirdly, some apps work okay with a data restore, but the vast majority will fc). Also, when trying to restore back to my old rom (AOKP) via Nandroid, I get an error saying cannot mount /data, stopping the process. I tried deleting all my backups, making new ones, flashing stock, and yes I follow the OP exactly. I wanted to see if anyone has ever had this issue either on this ROM or another one. Any help appreciated, thanks.
To restore a Nandroid, you actually have to flash the rom first, then after it fully boots up restore your Nandroid. As for Apps and data, try restoring the apps first, rebooting, then restoring the data.
Referring to your app restore suggestion. That doesn't work. I've tried it

Then i don't what else to suggest. You tried downloading apps fresh, then restoring your backed up data?
Common issue for me. Just wipe data first and it should work. No need to flash the ROM

Use TiBu instead of Nandroid. Only had issue with porting my WiFi settings from GB to ICS.
But in general restoring apps with settings and data is a pain. That prevents me from becoming flash junkie.
I understand your concern with using nandroid. That was just a side statement. The issue is restoring USER apps with data. Why is this occurring now when it has never occurred before

I just want to add that this exact same thing has happened to me on a variety of ICS ROMS (including AOKP M5) and I too follow the installation instructions including wiping and formatting.
Very annoying.

Sorry, sorry. I was specifically referring to the nandroid backup issue. IF while restoring, you can't get past "Cannot mount /data!", THEN wipe data, and continue restoring data by doing advanced restore from there (so you don't have to restore /boot and /system again...)

Ah okay. Thanks for the tip.
So no one has any idea what's the cause of this. Everyone who has come across this issue, including myself, seem to have no clue how to fix it. There's basically an exact same q&a thread on vibrant forums with the same issue and there's like 5 people there who cannot figure out why

What happens if you dl from market without restoring data? Still get fc's?
without restoring data? No FC. After restoring data, FC.
Hey Mikel I just flashed Docs Master v11 which just came out. For the first time in a long time I did not have the app f/c problem at all. Everything ran fine right from TIBU restore.
I flashed this ROM exactly the same way as I've flashed the last few AOKP roms. Hmmmm..

My haptic feedback randomly stops working and only works again when I restart it. I've check the power saving option and also the turned haptic feedback off and on and also check the vibration level of it but none of those gets it working. Another issue is the screen resolution randomly distorts and I have to restart to get that working again as well. Anyone know what's wrong or have similar issues?
factory reset, flash a stock rom
I already have a stock ROM plus would I be able to keep every single bit of data on my phone with an app like titanium backup?

Yes, with Titanium Backup you can save alle system and user app settings if you stay with the same Android version
Titanium Backup
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
Make sure your using the latest Recovery and remember to Backup in the Recovery just in case.
I use TWRP:
