Lost Apps - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Twice this week my Cappy has lost track of several apps. Their icons replaced with one of an sd card. I get a message saying that the app is not installed. I can restore from TiBu and all is well after the sd crd is rescanned.
Running stock GB with Corn kernel for root.
Any idea what may be causing this?

Are they saved on the phone or the internal SD? I'm not sure if that helps, but it could possibly explain something if they are on the SD

Yes they were all on the internal sd, but not all the apps on sd were affected.

Need help!

I have a HTC hero cdma on android 2.1 with the buffed rom & the other day my nephew took my memory card out my phone and formatting it thinking That would make the music save onto his phone (kids these days ) so now I'm stuck with this rom. What files do I need to copy to my SD so I can start flashing to different roms again?

Just add whatever Rom you want to the SD card and flash it. You should still have recovery even after formatting the SD card.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a copy of your sd card on your computer. But yea as the previous poster said copy a rom onto the root of your sd card amd boot into recovery. Flash like normal.

Having had an 8gb sd card fry in the last month, I can attest to ensuring you have a backup of some sort... (at least the card had a lifetime warranty through Kingston - I didn't have a backup though...)

Unable to access sd card (PROBLEM SOLVED)

I formatted both internal and external cards and flashed a clean rom because the sd cards were full of crap and clutter but now when i try to use a file explorer it says '''SD CARD UNMOUNTED OR NOT PRESENT'''
I know its off formating the internal but what will make it recognise it again?

Every other time I boot
I have this exactly every other time I boot. Always need to reboot twice in order to keep my SD Card working. No joke - had the same issue with two different cards.
the way i fixed it was to clear the data/cach in the manage applications on the es file manager or what ever file manager ur using

[Q] SD Card Who?

Under Settings, under Storage there is the option.
Be sure to save ur stuff from that external sd card to ur pc first, then format it.

Ice Cream Hackish 10

Probably something with the ROM. I always had problems with sd cards on cm7 and both the ics builds. Kept losing the card everytime the phone went to sleep.
Now I'm on stock kk4 rom and its still not showing up...

No offense, I am only trying to cover the bases. But is ur external sd card being recognized under Menu/Settings/SD card and phone storage/SD card ?? And if so, is it mounted ??
Also, is the directory path /sdcard/external_sd ?? (u can look at My Files in the app drawer and see)

Update
I kept having this problem on kb2 and jf6. I swapped the card for one that had about 3gb of stuff on it and no more problems. Either my first card is bad, or it needs to have some stuff on it.

Blank external SD card or cannot read file system

Hi, I just recently have run into this issue: getting notification that my external SD card is either blank or the file system cannot be read, and saying i need to reformat. I did, and still getting same error. Up until a few days ago all was fine with my phone and Sd card so very puzzled. Thought i would post on here to see if anyone has had the same problem or knows of a fix, before i reflash the rom or change roms all together.
Running:
SauROM KK4 with corn 7.06
Thanks

[Q] Any way to make ext sd card the default one and not the internal sd card?

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way to make ext sd card the default one and not the internal sd card? Cause right now, I can't restore certain backups from previous phones as the various apps wont detect. It can only search the internal storage, and is unable to search the storage in the external sd card.
Any app or setting that can do this?
Thank you!
An app like ROM Toolbox should let you browse to the ext sd card to choose a backup. Am I understanding your question correctly?

Hmm, not really actually. An example would be Whatsapp. It backs up to my sd card in my old phone. However, after switching to Droid 4, I can't restore the messages because now it backs up to the internal sd card and not the ext-sd card.
