Anyone have one of these on their shift? I had one on my TP2 but never really thought about getting one until now for the shift. I'm just looking for a review of a good brand and links. Thanks
Hahaha . I had one on my TP2 also. Don't have one on the Shift. But one thing I remember from the TP2 experience is, if you buy one do not get it mirrored. Purchase on of the ones that looks normal, but only if your looking at it straight on. The mirror one can be a PITA in the daylight, or brightly lit room.
I think I had a mirror one too, but I didn't like it. I found one on eBay pretty cheap, we will see how it goes. The privacy screen protector was awesome, but very thick. I'm guessing this will probably complicate the touch screen but again, waiting to see. Thanks for the reply though
The one I currently use, I bought from Skinomi. It has a slight tint to it, and is a good thickness, doesn't compromise the Touch response. But yet it offers enough protection.
got it in the mail today, and it's ok not great. It is more of a tinted screen protector than privacy. I would imagine if you were looking at some 18+ material.. the person next to you will notice lol.

Well no more 18+ material in public for you
haha I wouldn't do that... from my phone. I now remember why I liked not having this privacy one, it's dark as s**t especially out in the sunlight. oh well

I just got the javoedge no-glare screen protector and it is the best I have used.
I think that the zagg invisiblesheild is amazing and bulletproof, but has a terrible glare. The one from javoedge makes this phone usable during the day outside.

Outside Use
If it was mid-day, brightest sun you can get directly over head...when I try to use my phone, I jack up the brightness to 100%.
Then I would usually have to cover it with my hand, and still get very little ability to see the screen.
I'm using, and have been for about 6 months:
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
It's like impossible to scratch and the screen is perfect.
The main problem is glare / daytime usability. I'm ready to buy the one you suggested almost ASAP just for that.
How many do you get, just the one, I still might have to try this out it sounds better than my walmart ones.Wow might have to try them both.
I used the zagg one you have and love it for durability (I had the whole phone protector and loved it until it got gunky around the edges). The issue was glare; I couldn't see anything with it on.
With this you get one screen protector, but it is all you need. With the regular phone with no screen protector I could see about 40%, zagg 30%, this one somewhere around 75% or better (a noticeable increase, not perfect, but much much improved).
The problem with the walmart ones (and most others) is that you don't have the durability that zagg and this one does; with this one you can abuse the screen and still wipe them off with your finger for a perfect view.
I recently purchased the JAVOScreen anti-glare screen protector and enjoy the durability and fitment. However, I find it very hard to use in daylight.
Are you sure you purchased the anti-glare one?

Expensive but the best screen protector I've ever used. I use them on all my mobile devices.

I have been using Pocket PC Techs WriteShields for a long time now all the way back to my Ipaq 3650 days... long before my i700.
They are anti-glare and so dang durable that it is one of those products you just love to recommend. I have been given some other brands here and there along the years and those REALLY cemented my appreciation for the WriteShields. I play a LOT OF SOLITAIRE... like every time I go to the reading room (if you get my drift) and I always my fingernails... along with all my other PDA/phone use. I get around two years out of one of these and that includes just a ridiculous amount of abuse.
I have the same thing on my Tablet PC... it has been there since 2004 and I kid u not... it looks like brand new (obviously not as abused as the phones )

Veloslave......Would you please advise on your visibilty outside during the day.
Can't believe it's not mentioned here.
The best screen protector hands down for any device are the Anti Glare ones from www.Boxwave.com
they'll last forever, are washable, easy to apply, make the touch surface feel more paperlike which makes writing on it nicer, eliminates glare, doesn't show fingerprints... it's just awesome.
I have the on my Sony TG50, my Nintendo DS, and my xv6800. All are perfect.
Well, I have the Zagg invisibleSHIELD, and I like it, it just sucks in the sunlight. I'd like a better one for viewing outdoors, but after reading this post, I dont know what to get. Three to choose from...
Boxwave
Pocket PC Techs
JAVOedge
Choices... choices...
You won't be dissapointed with Boxwave antiglare, trust me. I got my TG50 5 years ago now, and it was a great choice then, still is.
Just ordered the anti-glare from boxwave. we'll see how I like it when it gets here.

I would like to know as a few talk about this one. I use my phone outside and the sun and my screen don't mix with visibility.
Got the anti glare one from boxwave. It's got a lot of pros and not many cons.
Pros:
A dream to write on w/ the stylus.
Very easy to install, not one of those flimsy "rubbery" screen protectors, actually plastic and stiff.
Even if you do get a little dust under it, you cannot see it at all once it's installed.
No air bubbles whatsoever.
Very easy to wipe fingerprints off of.
They say it's removable and washable? I dunno about that, but if I ever have to do it, it's worth a shot I guess.
Cons:
Easier to read in the sunlight, but not near what the website hypes it up to be.
More pros than cons, overall I am very happy with it. I like it a lot better than the Zagg invisibleSHIELD.
-Randy
Glad you liked it. I know I do. They are definetly removeable, and washable, but they are a bit tricky to remove. You must do so very carefully or you can risk bending them, or worse, removiing some of the adhesive which will be noticeable when it's reapplied. I've found to remove them, get them warm first with like a hairdryer to make it easier to remove, and then try to lift a corner with somethign very thin like a razor blade. To wash just rub it with mild dishsoap and water, and then flick it off like a poloroid. You can reapply it evenn with some water still on it.
In my expirence, not much reason to ever remove it. Just clean it while it's still on there.
I'll second the Boxwave screen protectors. I've had the same one on my phone since I got the phone at launch. I've taken it off once to clean it, and I have one very small scratch on it. Pretty impressive compared to other protectors I've used.
I have been meaning to get a screen protector. I am leaning towards Boxwave but last time I had an anti-glare, it made the screen a tad fuzzy. Hmmm....
I'm using the Boxwave Anti-Glare as well. The only issue I ran into is that I had to trim mine just a slight amount for my Mogul, the stock size actually fit under the case edges of the screen and caused my screen to not respond to touch. It does a great job of resisting fingerprints, and the paper feel when writing is definately a plus.
I swear by the Zagg products. It is true they are not that great in the sunlight. I usually crank my brightness but I have used the WriteShields before and they scratch after continue use. Play solitaire for a while and you will see the drag line from the deck to the stacks. Kind of annoying. Zagg will not scratch at all, guaranteed. Check out the Zagg videos on wrapping an iPod and then using a weed wacker on it.
Hey again!
I apologize if this has been [kind of] covered and I've read through some of the other threads about skins, but I wanted to know if anyone has gotten a Casemate Vroom for their N1 and your thoughts?
I got a silicone case/screen protector from ebay, mad cheap (like $4), and it does the job, but I want to get something that looks nice as well. The screen protector I have on this works well, surprisingly, since it was paired with this cheap case, but I dropped the phone straight on its face today (just a flat plop, but it was only 1-2 feet) and the case did its job, but got me rethinking.
With that said, I like the look of the Vroom as it adds a little flare to the phone as well as functionality, so I wanted to see peoples' thoughts. Thanks!
If anyone has this, please let me know. I am really considering buying one, but I wanted feedback if anyone has this.
I have one. It's an ok case, here are my pros and cons:
Pro's:
- It's a good looking case, when it's not all dusty and covered with stuff ( see cons ).
- It will protect the phone well in the event of a drop.
- It's easy to grip.
Con's:
- It's rubber, so it attracts every piece of dust, lint, whatever may be around.
- The top portion actually blocks the light sensors of the phone so if you use the auto adjusting backlight it's not going to work. Also it doesn't shut the screen off when it's close to your face while on the phone, then illuminate it when you pull the phone away from your face. I thought about cutting this top piece off with a razor blade, but I haven't done it yet because I don't feel like making the case look like crap...
I'm a car guy, so that's the main reason I bought the case. I figured it would be sweet to use when I go to shows/track. That's probably the only time I will use it though.
Hope that helps you.
Is it really covering the sensor? the picture looks like it isnt...
Anyways OP check this case out, this is what I got, it fits perfectly, looks great, and cheap! Definitely the best bang for the buck.
The seller is pretty good by the way, I got my order in 3days.
http://cgi.ebay.com/HARD-CASE-SILIC...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5d28bb22ee
Also available in, blue, green and pink
I used this case for the first few weeks I owned the phone. I do really like the design of the case, however I found that after a few weeks it becomes loose due to the material used for it. Also, they have since released a new version in the past week that no longer covers the sensors, but in doing so it looks as if it reduces the area it covers on the phone. This worries me that due to the material used it may have issues with staying properly seated on the phone once the material has loosened. Another note on the material is that it is very grabby. By that I mean that if you put it into a pocket it is a little tough to take it back out. Other than that all of the proper areas are cut out and sit well.
I have since switched to their Gelli case which I now prefer. It is a harder material, and doesn't have the issue of stretching or loosening. It also shows off the phone more, as it is a clearer smoke style material.
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize that it covered the sensors (at least the pics on the website still show the old one). I'll take a look into the ones you've suggested. Thanks guys!
Yah , found out that the older version did cover the sensor. But the new ones don't.

Just ordered one of these, it's the coolest looking case by far but I never ordered because of the proximity sensor being covered, seems they have fixed that now as there is a new version on their website so we'll see how it is when it gets here. It's the first case I'm actually looking forward to getting for the Nexus, just don't seem to be many stylish cases for it like there are for the iPhone.
So, I keep getting a problem with ghost touches and grubby fingers and I wanted to get a screen protector. Opinions seem to vary wildly on them, so I was curious what everyone recommends. I was actually looking at the Monoprice ones (since they're under $5 shipped). Has anyone tried the the "high transparency" or "matte finish" ones from here?
http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10843&cs_id=1084307
Or is there another kind you like?
I have these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-Anti-Gla...7?pt=AU_TabletAccessories&hash=item3cbd6dd853 and they work really well. Easy to apply as well.

Cool, thanks. I might have to get those. .... I like this part.... "Accessory ONLY. Device not included" ....darn!
Having a spare is nice too!
I use xoskins. They have a lifetime warranty and they look better than anything else
Thanks. I ordered the ones Zires mentioned -- just awaiting shipment. We'll see how they work out, but for $3.11 I'm not out too much.
@ponyboy82,
Still good for me. The matte finish is great.
I am using the one that came with the Aegis case. After about 4 months it has started lift up around the edges so the time may have come for a new one.
Do any of those screen protectors that claim to allow for reading in daylight really work?
thanks you for the info
Just following up... I finally received and applied the screen protector that zires suggested, and it works great. The installation went pretty well -- I used the hot shower trick as well as some tape on a pen to pick up a couple stray pieces of dust. I actually failed to line it up correctly so had to pick the whole thing back up and reapply it, and it still turned out great. This was actually the best screen protector install I've done.
If anyone else is looking for screen protectors, I'd really recommend the matte/anti-glare ones. It sounds like any of them should be about the same. I actually ordered some for a couple of our phones. I haven't tested daylight reading yet, but it definitely cuts down on smudges and glare, and I haven't had ghost touches happen again yet. The NC won't magically get brighter, but just reducing glare should help in daylight. It does cut down on the clarity a little, but overall not too bad.
I really like the Monoprice matte screen protectors -- I've used them on a number of devices (including the NC) and they are extremely durable, they don't have reflection problems, and their surface feels a lot better than some of the other screen protectors I've found on Amazon/E-Bay.
They're the typical static cling type.
Check out ebay, I bout 4 for 5 bucks shipped, I bought screen covers for my phone tablet and all r great quality, they r generic but u won't notice the diffrence
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Well, when I got my Vivid, I was leaving 4 years of iPhones behind, so I don't know a life without using phone cases, since we all know how not-that-resistant iPhones are.
The thing is, I live in Brazil and the HTC Vivid isn't sold here. A friend brought it to me from a trip to USA, and I needed a case, and the only way was to buy it online.
It took me weeks of love making with Google until I finally found a store that seemed reliable and that didn't charge over US$80 only for the shipment.
I was really into the Speck purple-ish one, but the shipment was still expensive (don't remember how much they wanted to charge me but it was more expensive than the case itself so still not worth it). I'd seen many people talking about lots of cases that only had in black, and my phone is white so that didn't make any sense.
So I came across myIncipio.com. They offer two different cases for the HTC Vivid, and I chose the Feather Ultralight one, because of the material its made, the colour, price & shipment rates.
Yeah, it leaves all the buttons free, and I'm not that into this on the case, but other than that it's really good. I got it in blue so it looks really good on my white phone.
I've had several polycarbonate cases in the past and I thought this would be the same as them, but the touch is really soft, in a way that I can't describe. It feels so amazing that on the first few days with the case I was always stroking it - lol.
My phone hasn't suffered any falls since I bought the case, so I can't say much on this yet, but it seems to be protective enough - of course it's so slim that it could protect much better, but i believe that it'll work great for every day use. I tend to drop my phones a lot when trying to put them on my pockets (I'm not very bright and I wear super tight jeans a lot) and this case seems to be perfect for this kinda thing.
Anyways, if you're looking for a nice case that won't look bulky, this is the one.
It's US$14.99 on myIncipio.com
Also it comes with a clear screen protector & the usual cloth + applicator card, it's really easy to apply and I didn't get any bubbles at all, didn't have to use the applicator. It's not anti glare or anything but looks really clear and avoid scratches quite fine.
And note that my buttons are getting copper-ish.
It looks really sleek
Although it looks like it wont do well with falls, but good at maintaining everyday wear and tear.
It probably doesn't add any weight to the phone?
i also have the white vivid and this blue case and i love it it doesn't get in the way of any head phone jack

No, it doesn't add any weight at all.
Just a few hours after I posted here my phone dropped for the first time since I bought the case a couple of weeks ago.
Not a single scratch neither on the phone or the case itself. So far so good.
I was really worried because the back cover just ends up half the way across the room when the phone drops and I read people saying that it might damage it permanently, like never being able to keep it in the right place again.
So I'm really glad to have something holding the back cover in place.
And it's incredibly light, and oooh feels so good to touch that I'm starting to concern my friends, can't stop stroking the phone - ROFL.
My wife has the same case and seems to like it...I have the white, Speck candy shell, which I love...it covers everything accept the screen...and the camera and speakers of course...had it off and on hundreds of times while flashing ROMS, taking sd card in and out, and the case has held up to the abuse. Think it was around $30...AT&T and amazon both have them.

Has anyone used a tempered glass screen protector for this phone, I know it doesn't cover the whole screen, just wanted to know what people think about it. I've already ordered 3 pieces from different suppliers to see the differences, and whether it goes well on the phone.
id be interested to know if you get a good 1 cause ive bought the mobilefun version and it failed bad i got a full refund within 10mins of applying it. so cross that off your list lol

do you still have the protector, can you post a photo of it.
thanks

I get them all from china, from some of the suppliers.
once i'll posted the results, and if it's positive, i'll see if I can ask the supplier or shop to put some online.
Update
Apprently I received the 3 glass protectors today, and i'm completely disappointed with them, it seems like glass protectors are out, i'm using my old pet A.R.M station one now which seems to fit the best so far, apart from the sides about 3 mm, the whole of the surface is covered, may be i'll try something like invisible shield next.
There isn't point in posting photo's, it's a waste of time.:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the experience anyways.
I'd also say get one with wet apply, if you live in europe Invisishields are by far the best I think, at least in Germany others like Skinomis are really expensive to ship. I got myself an Invisishield, and it's really good so far. It covers up the whole area, except for an extremely tiny part which is good since it doesn't get loose on the edges. The only thing I don't really like about it is the feel, it's a bit rubbery, but I guess that's due to the type and in normal use it doesn't really bother me.

I've actually used invisibleshield before, the rubbery surface will wear out, and it will discolour overtime, but it's our only option for better protection.
Off topic Q: have you used the official flip case CP-637, i'm interested in the green one to compliment my green phone, but thinking the green will get very dirty quickly, so do you think the black is a better option.
checking out a few screen protectors from ebay
invisble phone guard
front and back and sides USD 19
extreme guard
front and back USD 10
screenknight
front and back USD 14.50
not available from invisible shield.
they are all very cheap, do you know if they are all the same.
update:
I got the xtreme guard from their site, it was more expensive at USD 10.99, then shipping on top which was about USD 6, from ebay it's USD 10 with shipping, but found on the internet a 85% off discount, so I purchased 2 sets which adds upto USD 9.17.
good saving
