Yes but his removes some of the stuff like LG Launcher and such, and it also adds various scripts and such
Thanks. I plan to stick with the stock rooted rom and removing bloatware is something I'd like to do. Could you provide a list that tells me exactly what this removes?

works for me
Ok. I was able to get it. Thanks. Two questions:
(1) since this removes the bloat form the stock (odexed) V8 rom, I'm asuming it removes the .apks from system/app and removes the corresponding .odexs from system/framework, yes?
(2) There's a few apps and widgets like the LG Calendar widget I'd like to keep around. Can I simply make a copy of the .apks and .odexs this removes and restore individual ones by simply copying them back into their corresponding folders or is it more complicated?

(1) yes
(2) yes, just copy them back into /system/app make sure they have correct permissions otherwise they will fc. you can always fix permissions by using the option in CWM
this worked good except there were a few apps it didnt remove...like blockbuster and some verizon apps
awesome work, just a quick question:
I thought bluetooth function was tied into the music.apk on previous ROMS ... and by freezing or removing it, bluetooth would no longer work. Is this not the case? I could be completely wrong here

In previous versions this was the case, I have not tested it on the zv8 version but I am assuming it is still the case because it is the only app that will stream through Bluetooth in my car. Any other app (Pandora, Google music) will only play through an aux cable

Is it possible to run a .bat file that simply makes the ROM deodexed and allows a user to pick and choose what .apks to remove? Is there a master list of the .apks and the purpose/use? I know it would seem self explanatory by file name but it would be useful yo know if a certain .apk controlled a specific feature as well as system critical stuff to leave alone.
I certainly would like my revo to be more responsive and process more tasks at once, but I would also like to use some of the original features and software. I'd also like to learn more about how the process of adding and extracting stuff from ROMs works.

I am having issues w/ my gallery. It would appear that every time I connect my phone to the computer my photos that were transfered to the ex sd multiply. Ex. I have a folder of .png's it originally had 123 items in the folder I named icons. that folder is now up to 3000+. another folder "wallpaper" started w/ 16 and now is over 80. The only folders that haven't duplicated (within the folder) are folders created from within the phone. Ex photos taken w/ the phone. Have had 40+ for a while, never increases.

Sgstools used to be an app avalable in the market but the person who used to maintain it quit because it was too hard to maintain for free. it is really useful and is included on a lot of custom roms most people new to flashing don't see its usefulness until they actually need it. Now there is a thread for out now in the themes and apps section. Use the script for cleaning up "thumb nails". That is what you have too many of. Opening some apps causes the media scanner to create an xtra thumb nail if this happens to much you get thumb nails for thumb nails and then you got 3000. The script should clean it all up. Should work on any rom. There is also options to swap out your gallery with a modded one that doesn't make your sensors go wild and eat your battery. You can use it to swap your e mail apk for the one in the galaxy tab I don't need it but some do. There is a secret code dialer that will take you straight to lbs testmode useful if your constantly tweaking gps settings. The list goes on. Get it, it's what you need. I

With the release of the restore files I felt comfortable enough to give deodexing a shot. Everything but the BlurCalender deodexed beautifully with xUltimate2.3.1. Now to get an AOSP theme!!
I'm new to all this, what does deodexing do for us? I'm guessing it has something to do with themes since you mentioned that.

Ha my NoScript addon blocked your LMGTFY
I almost knew someone was going to do that lol thanks tho man
yea same here, what did you do just remove it or left it odexed?
Using the commands for xUltimate it removes all the odex files so they will probably need to be added. I am having other issues as i did not backup the calender.apk so i need the original before i can experiment.
I ran thru and deodexed everything except the calendar. Was getting a lot of force closures.
I noticed someone else had the same and the he is looking in to it.

We are going to have to wait until the xUltimate is fixed for the bionic.
I cant find any info on how to do it manually.

I was able to deodex most of it with xUltimate (I just renamed Calendar to bypass it). Some work, some don't. Hoping the OP makes a deodex ROM as the thread would suggest.

I would love to release a deodex stock rom but my calender is still messed up and i havent been able to figure out what the issue is. If you want i could post the deodexed apps and you can follow the manual steps of coping the apps to system if you want.

If you are referring to my post.
I was referring to a manual way to deodex and not use xUltimate as it is not working for the Bionic.
I was able to deoedex everything except the calendar like you.
But when I applied the files to the phone, I started getting a lot of force closures and had to start over.
I am waiting for xeudoxus to take a look and patch xUltimate to work with the Bionic.

Good question, I had to use titanium to delete google search, then download the one from the play store (same version number) and then convert it to system app.
That one lg supplied file would not deodex no matter what I tried? the replacement was fine.
i tried to deodex 20q. but i cant deodex nearly 10 apks.
if you did it it is great!
only one apk and repleace from play store doesnt matter. i mean did you used any apk from other versions like 20o 20p etc.
good work man. thanx
what is the difference is latest libaudiopolicy.so?

Maybe you wanna convert all those ROMs into easy to flash .zip files. But a nice thread anyway. UAE version and some other regional ones would be nice. Maybe we should all work together, create all the local ones, post them here and you add them to the thread, so everyone can pick a rooted version, he/she wants to have.
I guess they are rooted or don't delete the root, right? (I don't think a nandroid would remove root, but are they rooted?)

Sounds like a plan, In the meantime I need to learn how to create zip files. I had no joy with rom kitchen. any other tools for that please?
I might help with flashable zip, but gimme a little bit time so I can test
In process of dl from my server (have to sign it locally), I'll test it ASAP
EDIT: Getting error when installing :/ Will try to fix it.
EDIT2: Now bricked, I guess I shouldn't have changed things on boot.img, will unbrick then retry without any modifications from my own nandroid.
EDIT3: I guess I just bricked my phone too much times for this night, will retry tomorrow.

I think V20s is the best version for me.. I have used all the version and for me its most stable one...
And with the help of UOT Kitchen I modified some changes like battery, status bar, notification bar , font, boot animation.. And everything works like charm...
Is there one out there for the Vivid based on the current HTC Sense ROM currently in use by AT&T? I have been looking for one that is stock with ALL of the AT&T bloatware crap removed without any additions or "improvements".
It would also be nice to have the ability for it to OTA update or at least whoever makes one to update it as needed.
If that's what you're looking for why not root it and debloat it yourself?

I am not opposed to that idea if there are directions out there on how to do it. I would love to know how to properly take the stock ROM and remove the stuff I hate about it from it and repack it.
If you root you can just flash a recovery, make a back up of the stock rom and then download an app like no bloat from the market and remove whatever apps you don't like or need. Not sure if that's an option for you.
Ess.boyer's stockish or Aus_ azn's lightweight on rootzwiki at both great ROMs.

I tried NoBloat on SIL's Verizon DROID BIONIC. There are a few Verizon apps it appears to not list.
Debloating is quite simple
Start with a stock rom (the rooted one "for chefs or whatever" will be perfect
Download and install "7zip" on your computer
Open up the rom zip using 7zip
Navigate to system/app
delete any unwanted apps (careful...some are neccessary fir the phone to run)
You could also add in any apps you want as well
The above is whqt got,me into deving fir android although i still dont consider myself a dev...still have much more to learn
The alternate route is to flash the stock rooted rom
Then install titanium backup from playstore and uninstall apps from there

Is there anyway I could download the stock ROM from HTC and convert it into an editable .zip? If not, I might give this a shot.
I knew we had something like this around. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583028) Stock ATT rooted.
Features:
ICS 4.0.3
Rooted
De-odexed
Zip-aligned
init.d scripts support (Currently only holding a test script)
All the original AT&T bloat you could ever dream of
Still has the bloat but at least you have something to start with and you could debloate from there.

Well, I would probably be surprised if that Kids Mode began to work. Firstly, it's this version of the apk for Kitkat. Second, it needs Touchwiz. Correct me if I'm wrong.

someone will probably have to have it installed then pull app data for libs folder if there are any. then you would need to flash the /data/app/name of apk folder with libs to the correct area and also the main .apk to /system/app
but then again some manufacturer's apps are not compatible with aosp or cm based roms and need porting to work
(if that is what you are running)

Having had a crack at this myself... On my newsed SM-T325 I just got myself. I can only suspect that the clue is in the name seckidsmode... Sec here referring to security al-la knox mode perhaps?! no, not so much as full on knox, as such. But is still tied up somehow in as far as once its gone its gone. At least this is what I found when I tried to reinstall it back onto a rooted, but otherwise stock... And 0x0 valid SM-T325.
You might not care to hear it, but the only way I was able to recover (Twice now, as I write this!), was to re-flash the current BOC1 Firmware on top of everything again. Thankfully this hasn't tripped up my Knox... yet though I need to re-install TowelRoot + SuperSU again, unlike Knox however, you can install, and use this Kids Mode while rooted. But, as to reinstall it again after you've yanked it?
Well lets say that I'm kinda interested to know that One too...
