Question about note camera please assist . - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As you people know SGS2 has junkey camera module (which i haved) SCE which when recording have shutter lag and recording lag when focus ...
Quick video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV1Uh5Mjcdo
It can be reproduced @ night situations .
My questions is IS THIS PRESENT ON NOTE ?
Also to note not all sgs2 have this problem just those with SCE camera module ...
And this was major thing that made me sell my sgs2 , now im thinking to buy note ... And i fear again if i get this ****ty module again it would piss me off alot .
Thank you on answers and your time

ICS improves the camera. It makes it so much faster. If there is a problem like that in GB (not saying it has as I never faced any). It should be taken care of with an ICS rom

You are recording in a dark place with low iso/high exposure value/ slow shutter speed/ high aperture value.
Increase iso may help

I am at the moment on nightly, and i have ben checking, no lags here.... also on gingerbread found no problems... you should try MIUI, maybe that would help, never experienced any problems with that, and i guess most smooth rom available.. (my opinion ) the Gingerbread version that is....
Good luck..

Just tell me does Note have this problem

Great Snakes! I think SGS II sure has this problem but I reckon SG-Note does not have this problem. I came across a video on youtube where this guy has compared the videos of both SGS II and SG Note, side by side. And man, SGS II literally loses its focus all the dam time. Whereas SG Note doesn't.
I will post it in night as youtubing is prohibited in my office premises.

Another S2 or Note?

Hi everyone,
I will be upgrading in late Feb. The options are: another s2 or Note.
Love my s2 (rooted with Illusion-xT v1.4.2 - XWKL1 2.3.6) , played a bit with Note and its size is not a problem for me.
I really have no time to go through the forum to find my answers.
I'd like to know:
- the battery life compared to s2
- does Note do everything that s2 does?
- call recording quality pls, does anyone use Total Recall?
- application compatibility with s2
- overall performance compared to s2
- your experience if you are owning both s2 and Note
- TV out - like in s2?
Thanks a lot guys!

About roughly the same, the 250mAH is to feed the huge screen. I get the same video playback time of 9hrs on the S2 and on the Note. Gaming might suffer since it needs to compute for more pixels.

No issues, Andriod apps mostly scale to the screen and if they dont developers fix then quite fast.

Some say the note lags/UI stutters more than the Galaxy S2.. this is only true when you use the pinch to view the home screen or the app drawer which is a TW issue, anything other than that the Note does things FASTER than the S2 which is expected as it is a better device even under the hood.

I find it difficult to now use a phone with anything less than 5.3" of a screen, this is one major drawback once you get attached to the Galaxy note.
Altho both phones are not with out its issues, faces similar issues on both ends though
You havent asked this but the GPS on the Gnote is amazing, you can even get a signal lock indoors all of this due to the GLONASS that it has, but its not that accurate as compared to dedicated GPS devices yet.
Thank you EarlZ
Yes I ve forgotten to ask about GPS as I am gonna use my Copilot and Sygic very often.
What about TV-out - the same as s2?
Howdy.
Typed up a quick compairison between the two if you wanna take a moment to read it here.
One thing that I didn't mention in that post is TV out, and it's exactly the same as you would do so on a GSII; plug in an MHL adapter.
I personally haven't used GPS on the phone enough to count, but everyone else who has, has said it's the best they've used thus far. Much better than a GSII
If you go for it, you'll love it.
And hey! If you're not satisfied with it, go ahead and sell it and use those funds for either a new GSII or, when the time comes, put it towards it's successor.
But I doubt you'll want to once you get your hands on this baby

Just took a quick peek at your post and I noticed you mention at 25% there is no issue viewing it under direct sunlight? I even have issues with the S2 or the note at 100% brightness under direct sunlight well ofcourse this varies how bright the sun is shining though.

I've personally never noticed any issues. It could very well be that any light that I was under wasn't 100% dead on, but my Note screen is always one of two brightness levels: 25% and 0%. I've never had a need to crank it any more.
Are you a big guy? (ie 6" + ?)
Then get the Note.

Used on both. More or less the same, yes.
For both devices, however, the system UI outputs at native resolution. So when you're web browsing or just going through menus and such, the S2 is at 800x480, the Note is 1280x800; noticeable difference.
I will say though, that the Note does seem to slow down quite a bit when hooked up to the TV for moving about the UI or playing games and such (mainly because, not only does it have to render 3x as many pixels already, but now it's doing it twice over(!!!), it's quite a burden, and it shows.
That said, it's still (mostly) functional, and when using it for video output (even full 1080p), it is flawless there.
P.S. I'm selling my international GS2 if you're interested. Send me a PM

You must realise that the SGN's camera isn't an SLR one, it can not give you an SLR quality photo. This is a known fact with all camera phones.

does custom rom affect the image camera result?because when i compare stock rom->camera->autofocus result better than root->custom rom->camera->autofocus. it is true?or just my imagination

[Q] Camera... TW.. A whole lotta curiosity going on here

Didnt know if i should have made seperate threads for each question... Here goes:
Camera
-+---+----+
- is this same camera as SG2? Seems better
- i noticed the galaxy nexus' camera takes multiple single shots at a very high succession rate.. is that contributed because of diff cameras or ice cream sammich's awesomeness?
- i also notice that when im taking photos, it looks amazing right before the shot..(veeeeery sharp) but right after i take the shot, the photo loses its ultra sharpness.
- i also notice this happening on all of my previous android phones
- is this a samsung/android camera app thing? are there better camera app alternatives?
TouchWiz
-+---+----+
- I know theres themes and all that funk for other launchers.. but any way to modify/theme TW? .. I love TW and wouldnt really change anything other than theme it.

Can only answer that the lost focus in taking pictures may be due to shaky hands, focusing mechanism becomes confused as a result..there is a setting which allows for shake reduction; try it, see any differences?
Everytime I see a camera question/comment I am always curious about the issue. Someone always suggests a fix like the one below, whether it's use or settings.
I'm not blaming the respondents, but people need to understand that there is a problem with SOME Notes concerning autofocus. I keep coming back here to try to find a possible software solution, but it's very possible one of the camera vendors simply supplying Note cameras with bonky autofocus in the hardware.
I appreciate the fact that MOST Notes appear to have wonderful cameras, so to those of you, please be aware there is no simple solution to fixing the camera problem that SOME of us are experiencing.
Note (ha!) also that this extends to the Galaxy SII. There are a couple threads in their forum discussing similar camera issues, even though the two phones have different camera modules, and lack of progress getting Samsung to even acknowledge there could be a problem.

anti-shake won't work if you set some parameters especially the ISO value manually! reason: anti-shake does nothing more then trying to reduce the "shutter time", for that higher sensitivity is needed. therefore, if the cam is not being able to use a higher ISO setting anti-shake wont be available!

Is Gnote Camera Still Good After ICS update??

Hi All,
I have a Note N-7000. I got it just a few weeks before ICS roll out. The Camera behaves weird and now its not the same as it was in 2.3.
daylight photos are okay but low light photos are really thumbs down and a lot of Red-Eye.
I still have photos before and after update and I can see quality of photos degrading after that!!!
Is Every1 having similar opinions or do I need any other settings to better the quality of photos??
Need you opinion...
Camera on ICS AND JellyBean is Better than on GingerbREAD
I still feel that camera quality has degraded in ICS..is your note also a GT N-7000??
Everyones note there is a GT-N7000....would be really weird if the folks who use the american Note were hanging out here.....
But no, I've not noticed it and the camera in the JellyCore ROM (JellyBean rom) is better than the GB one

We'll my brother has the I717 and comparing my N7000 to his, I'd say the cam resolution is much more cleaner and sharp as compared to mine.. Though I can't say if this is ROM related or so.... he has CM10 installed and I have the (self modified) LRQ one. Not that it matters though.
exactly the same thing I observed that the indian note camera's quality's degraded than thew others..I see a lot of red-eye too when i use flash..is there any setting for removing that or any update or something that would better the quality..??

Camera quality is very disappointing. Doing smt wrong??

Bought this phone yesterday. I'm new to Samsung. I had seen and read a lot of reviews and articles, and all were very positive about the camera, but in my experience its very disappointing. Especially the front facing camera. It's always blurry, and what is up with all that smoothing out??? Even when it's off it just does the same. I haven't changed any special settings. After looking for a solution I see that I'm not the only one experiencing this. Is this just a question of taste, or is there really something "broken" at the moment with this camera?? I'm really considiring returning this phone. 1000€ and this is the picture quality I get?
I paid considerably less than 1000€ a week after launch, I think I'd return it if I paid that much. I've had some good photos from the camera and also less impressive ones, it seems Pro mode is the place to be.
Yes the selfie cam sucks. Too much post processing causing the smoothing effect. I'm not an Instagram model, I don't need to look airbrushed.
The rear shooters though can produce some really nice pics.
It's the software that causes issues. The hardware is solid.
The other option is to download GCam which uses Google's HDR Processing from the Pixel devices. It produces really nice photos. Some GCam builds have Night Sight working as well.
You might find this link useful for installing GCam, it seems to be a bit hit and miss, the camera works for a little while and then just force closes every time it's launched.

Welcome to the esteemed club of Note 9 owners! unfortunately a lot of us are already having this issue and understand exactly how you feel! there is a thread on here already about this: see below

and trust me its annoying having paid so much for this device and then get this rubbish picture quality!.... and I bet you any money Samsung folks read these forums so whether its a case of "cant be bothered" or "working on it", no one knows!
I hear the point about Gcam download as an option but I really feel I should not need to download additional software to make up for Samsung's lapses. We buy this device cos we love it and desperately want it to work, guess Samsung makes them only to get our money... not rocket science who the real losers are !

Now if these problems can be fixed with future updates that would be great, but is there communication from Samsung about this? And can this be fixed with (near) future updates.

The only likely upgrade would be Samsung's take on Night sight, I wouldn't expect any miracles.
Guys, hey, HW is solid as someone said, i also have some issues with cam quality, i thing that we must wait till we have pie update and then see what changes. Like im working with audio eq and for example player FIIOX5 III sounds quite bad at beggining, but later firmware updates makes it much better. So i thing - wait for software update and then decide to do something with it or ask for refound.

It's been hit and miss too for me, coming from a Pixel 2 XL.
Things are considerably better since I use the Arnova's Gcam port (better than my Pixel 2 XL in fact), and it made me realize Samsung's app/post-processing is the issue, not the Note 9 camera/sensor
Samsung needs to go back to the drawing board and do something about that agressive, over the top post-processing. Like I said, Gcam produces way better, more natural looking like pics, and most of all, they're not blurry (faster shutter time with Gcam maybe?)

More features like Advanced HDR+ and Night Sight are working for me with Arnova's builds vs the one you just posted.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/
Can you post some sample pics? This phone is consistently rated as one of the top cameras on the market and I have to say that I'm not disappointed. In good conditions it's hard to say that it's any worse than my DLSR with expensive lenses. Night shots are excellent too. If your rear camera is as bad as you claim, perhaps there is a hardware problem? The front camera does apply a lot of post processing (which I'm not a fan of either) but you can turn most of it off.
TLDR: either you have an actual hardware problem or insanely high expectations, the camera on this phone is just about the best on the market. When I say that it comes close to my DSLR, I'm not kidding.

That's the one you want: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk
If it force-closes on launch, that's because it was installed over an older version, just clear data + cache and relaunch, it will work

Use Pro mode if you want to be able to specify your shutter speed, I find the raw's are pretty good once they've had some basic touch-ups.
