[Q] openvpn in sumsung Tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good Day ,
I have sumsung Tab , OS:android . I would like to use VPN client I will be thankful if you can help me , because I installed openvpn and busybox but i do'nt realy what procedure to follow to configure the VPN , can you advice me ?

What ROM are you using? Depending on the ROM, you may already have the option to install the VPN settings from the main settings menu. (Menu > Settings > Location & Security > Install from SD card). Once your ca is installed, setup the VPN under wireless and networks.

Specifically for openvpn'
Download two apps. Openvpn installer and openvpn setting.
Install them both.
Run the openvpn installer and accept all defaults.
Run openvpn settings and choose your certs folder.
To launch (connect) you just need to run openvpn settings and tick the connection you want to open.
I have been using it on overcome from and aokp ice.

Are you using Cisco anyconnect on your laptop?
Hit Google play (market) and search anyconnect.
I have no experience with that.

Hi Priyana, what's the 'verts folder'? I was told to creat a openvpn folder under the SD root, then what the file/files should I copy to that folder?

The cert folder is just a folder where you need to have your config file and your vpn keys/certs
Speak to your network admin. You can't just have a vpn without a server. So the server owner need to give you the necessary certs to access.

Ok.... I dont have that kind of service. What I need is to set up the VPN so I can access with Facebook or Twitter and so on...sometimes even for Gmail..... There are 4 countries in the world cant use them I am luckly living in one of those So, I applied an account and password from www.daili99.net, according one webpage, but last step it says 'copy all the configration and certification to this created folder' I cant figure it out....
So would you give me any suggestion to do? PPTP? tried but didnt work very well...

Tried PPTP and L2TP, both of them would not work. Says 'Server hung up. User name or password incorrect. Try again?'

Basicly this is what I have:
Server: 209.141.63.60
DNS: 8.8.8.8
and my account, my password
Those are the information I was given to set up PPTP or L2TP but both of them wont work.

Ok I have set up my VPN, www.vcupone.com
I downloaded openvpn-ca.cer and clein-free.ovpn
I have copied both of them to SDCARD/openvpn,
Now when I turn on the openvpn, (check the box), then it could find Client-free.ovpn, it becomes 'resolve' but only in 1 second, then becomes 'wait' ....
wait for ever....
Could you please let me know what's wrong with that?

[Q] Getting OpenVPN to Work

I currently pay for a VPN service called Hide My Ass and it works nicely on my computer. I can use it on my Bionic but I would like to use OpenVPN. I installed from the Market the two OpenVPN Settings and Installer and copied the config files to the SD card. I found it here http://hidemyass.com/vpn-config/ Now for some reason when I try to log in to the VPN it won't connect. If anyone has any input on how to make this work I would appreciate it.

You need a tun.ko kernel module, and based on the word kernel and the locked bootloader I don't even know if that module would even help in any way.
I think this kernel has tun built in... I use vpnc all the time and it needs one too.

OpenVPN will not work with OpenVPN and OpenVPN settings because there is no tun.ko kernel module. Tried this myself and nope, it's not going to work. There might be a way if there is a talented dev out there. I know that the boot has to be signed but I don't know about kernel modules. Beyond the module itself will the kernel even allow you to start a module anyway?

Has anyone loaded tun.ko on GT-P7300? I guess this file is needed to make vpnc work..

Use _motley kernel.
It has tun module compiled inside, OpenVpn just work's fine.
Even the stock kernel has tun/tap compiled in. No need for a tun.ko module.

[Nook HD+] VPN setup issues

Hi there,
I'm a student and need to use VPN on my Nook HD+ to get access to the exclusive resources of the university like electronic library, etc. The university VPN service uses IPSec, IPSEC TCP/UDP with Xauth method, and it has a group name and group secret. I've searched the playstore and the only two clients which support this feature are VPNC widget and openVPN, but they both have issues I cannot solve. VPNC widget could not start properly and reports error saying that my TUN is not installed properly, so I downloaded tun.ko installer to install the tun according to my android OS and kernel versions, but the installer says the file downloaded is not compatible. The openVPN requires CA certificate for the IPSEC TCP/UDP feature, which I don't know how to set up (sorry for the novice I've been). Could anyone who knows how to resolve the VPN issue please share some insights, thank you very much!

First, are you rooted? Have you enabled 'unknown sources?" Running CM or stock?
Second, there was a discussion of VPN elsewhere, try searching, it may help.
The reason VPN doesn't work, with the exception of PPTP, is because it doesn't have tunnel module. That mean the tun.ko need to be compile for the Nook HD+ and put it on the device(symbolic link to the right directory). The module may still need to be manually loaded every boot, idk.

the database of DroidVPN has a tun.ko file for 4.1.2 and kernel 3.0.31,just as mine, but it's for Nook HD, not HD+. Is it tedious to compile a tun file? do you think I can do it myself?

Null ROM Google Account Manager not working

I got the null rom for my Galaxy Gearand was excited to use the Play Store but when I open it and choose "existing account" to sign in it freezes and then crashes. Does anyone have a solution for this?

You have to activate network spoofer in your gears settings choose spoof WiFi that's what I do.. from your phone download PDA net from the playstore ...activate bluetooth server then go to PDA net on the gear and click connect check the box and hit OK you should be good ..go to play store on the gear and try to sign in now

Sorry first you have to use xposed framework to install it check the boxes and reboot..

Ok I have internet connection and I know this because i am able to browse the web and other things but still when I try to sign in it crashes for some reason, am I doing it right?

Enable the xposed modules & enable the network spoofer.
Are you using a third party tethering application ? I get a feeling you from the US ?

Yes, im from the US.
And im using PDAnet to tether through bluetooth from my Galaxy S4 Active.
Can you please explain how to install the xposed modules and enable the network spoofer please?

sorry for the noob question but when you say settings> account> add..... what do I add? I think I found a work around to get pda net on my phone and when I go to activate bluetooth mode it says gear is to far to establish bluetooth connection.... it is sitting right next to the phone?

It is. But you realize that magisk is a systemless root right? It use overlay to trick the app and the sistem to think the file has been modified. But when uninstalling magisk it get restored to default (after you reinstall magisk. Modified file will comes back). Which means some data about root privilege are not done to the file itself but copied and modified and get overlayed to the target file. What happen if i restored my stock mac using an app that use magisk su? It'll not go back to default (it is but not the original file. It'll be the same overlayed file with stock values). So your suggestion is kinda ridiculous.

That should already be built into Android. Go to the WiFi networks (like you're picking WiFi), then tap the settings wheel next to the network. Under Advanced, there should be a setting to randomize your Mac address and it should be enabled by default.
