I have enabled Voice input in Settings --> Language and Keyboard --> Samsung Keypad --> Voice Input.
However, when I press the "Voice Input" button in the keyboard, it shows that Voice Input is disabled in my phone. You can see the screenshot below.
I DID NOT install a custom ROM, all stock. My phone is ROOTED and I have NOT "frozen" any apps that I think is critical for voice input. You can see the list below of ALL the apps I have "frozen" using Titanium Backup.
Can anyone help?

FROZEN APPS LIST
I seem to have this issue as well but I AM on a Custom ROM and am Rooted, etc. Id also like to know how to fix this as I like to use this feature for "Talking to text", etc... Also, I am using SmartKeyboard at the moment but I dont think that has anything to do with it as I have used this keyboard on my SGSII as well (which was also running custom ROM and was rooted) and I never had this issue before.
Anyone?
***EDIT***
Hmmm... I went back into the Samsung Keyboard settings and unchecked then RE checked the voice input option and now it seems to be working...
Well i checked and i have exactly the same issue.. stock rom and rooted, mic crossed out just like OP...
edit: mucked about a bit, and finally read the manual?...doh!.. Once i started voice input by double press of the home button it all started to work..

So you can press the "microphone" icon in the keyboard and it works now? Or are you referring to "double-clicking" the home button?
What I am looking for is the 2nd paragraph above. For example, I want to use voice input to write email WHILE I have the email app open. With my Thunderbolt, I can do so by tapping on the "microphone" icon.
No one use the "Voice recognition" in the Note?

Hi guys,
I have an issue that may be a PEBKAC issue, but I use Go SMS Pro instead of the stock Messaging app. When there is a new message for me the lock screen displays it like this ...

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
... which is nice enough, BUT! Problem is, even after I read the messages in Go SMS Pro, the notification stays on the lock screen until I open the stock Messaging app. ...which is not nice
Does anyone know how I disable this functionality?
I'm on MoDaCo Fr12 (not the vanilla one).
I've had the same problem in the past but now I use the stock sms program because of a hard reset. I haven't reinstalled go sms but I think I'll do it, but only if this problem will be solved with the next releases of the program.
I think you have to contact the Go dev team and ask if they can solve the problem because I think "GO SMS" app could reset the internal stock sms counter. Probably they have to adapt the program to the LG 2X behaviour.
Hej Hooolm
This is not the answer to your problem, but another way to get rid of it...
I had same problem cause I used GO sms as well. I still use GO sms, but now I use widgetlocker as my lockscreen. You can customize your lockscreen in any way you want... Much better than the stock. You should check it out

Have you disabled Notifications in the stock Messaging app?

I have the same problem.....
Any Dev know how to get rid of it?
I have the same annoying issue. I disabled the notifications too.....
I ended up baking a version where I replaced LG's sms app with the stock Android one. That functionality doesn't exist in stock
(Well, actually I ended up handing my handset back in to the carrier, telling them it is crap, and demanding another one. Waiting for my Galaxy SII now.)
Hello all,
I was a proud owner of S3, but now I bought a S3 mini and after I've rooted it, I've seen some things that I cannot understand.
I'd love if you could help me out - I'll buy you a big cup of coffee
I'm running a stock JB 4.1.2 with CWM and SU binary.
Well, If I remember correctly, my menu and back buttons had haptic feedback before I rooted it. Now that is gone. I think.
There's also no option to set the haptic feedback anywhere. The keyboard while typing a SMS if vibrating on keypress just like it should (using hackers keyboard atm), even by moving the icons around the screen, vibration works smoothly. Am I missing something?
Another weird thing is, when I download an apk via chrome or classic android browser, I can't install it. The file checksums are ok, without errors. My 'allow unknown sources' is also checked so it should let me install any apk. Is that correct? But it does not.
I've tried the app APK installer and with it's help it installed the apk in 0sec without any problems.
What happened to my haptic feedback? Could the rooting processs overwrite that part i.e. removing my haptic feedback?
Why can't I install normal APKs when unknown sources are checked and why do I have to use a 3rd party app for this?
Thank you in advance!
Our device is possesed by Haptic Nazi and therefore no haptic feedback for you

Even if you longpress menu button to activate search you will get haptic feedback, but no.. there is no haptic feedback on stock 4.1.2. roms (can't remeber if there any on older 4.1.1. roms).

Hello Titty,
sounds funny, but I think so too
For sure a missing thing..
Ok guys I've checked all my settings and for the life of me can't figure this out. Everytime I use the text feature from the watch it seems to work ok(tells me text sent etc.), if I go to the phone it appears as if everything is ok(shows text being sent from messaging app), but no one receives the text. If I go back to the messaging app and manually type it from the phone it works fine. Cant figure this one out any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.......
I have the same issue just on my phone when using OK Google

What phone are you using? I am on a Galaxy S5.
Note 4, Verizon.
Idk about on Google not working but the only way I can respond from the watch is I use Google messenger. On stock messaging app on my G3 to reply it tries to make me open on phone. Maybe try the same and see if it makes a difference?
You have to use google hangouts as your default text program or it won't work. Had same issue.

I enabled hangouts as my default and also made sure I enabled sms and it still doesn't work. The message is listed in my app but is never received by the recipient.

Also tried the Samsung default messages app as the default in Google now and it didn't work.
I think I'm the only person with this issue.
This fixed it for me.

I've been trying to use the handwriting feature next to the space on the keyboard with the T. I am able to write in the space provided however nothing happens when I write in that space. Is this an issue for anyone else?

I have the same issue on a stock T-mobile note 5
It used to work for me and I think it stopped after the last update.
I use the alternative option by hovering over the text field with the S pen input icon and that way works.

I do use that method now, since Direct Input works. Is there a way to prevent the keyboard from coming up all the time? That's the frustrating part, the phone keeps pushing this keyboard at me and it doesn't work. I can draw on it, but it doesn't trigger any recognition.
I had to add the input language to my phone for keyboard handwriting to work. Even though the keyboard had English(US) as an input language I still had to download it for handwriting recognition.
I went through direct input window and tap held the language button until the options page popped up and downloaded english(us) for that. Then both handwriting methods worked for me.
So I am looking to do one simple thing to the phone change the hardware buttons I have been an android user since the vibrant came out and have gotten use to how the buttons were laid out I am having a lot of trouble with the new layout the note 5 has. I am looking for a program like activator on iOS so I can remap them or if someone can give me a hand and remap them I just want the old-style back are to be able to customize them so when I hold the home button it doesn't bring up some Google search it brings up S Voice or even the android search functionality what it brings up now is some newsfeed with a Google search at the top I would also like it for the old back and menu buttons to be the same as well as the task manager assignment to be the same please help
There are a number of ways to do this. Are you rooted?

One way that's pretty simple and is (usually) effective, is to go to /system/usr/keylayout, open Generic.kl with a text editor, and just manually make your changes.
Make sure to backup the original file first, then in your text editor, look for MENU, APP_SWITCH, SEARCH, etc...
Say you want the key that currently opens recent apps to instead be a menu key, you'd find where APP_SWITCH is currently assigned, and replace it with MENU.
After you've made your changes, make sure the file's permissions are set to rw-r--r--, and reboot. I can't guarantee this will work, as I don't own this device, but it's always worked for me on other Samsung devices, and if not, well, that's why you backed up the original file.
