[Q] Clock app on Slim ICS 3.3 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I found that the clock app is different, coming from Mosaic 9 and I like the style of it, although one of my problems is that I can't seem to make the alarm sound a song on my phone. Anyway to get a custom alarm in that im missing?
On a similarly related note, I installed a TW Clock or something (can't quite remember the name, looking for the link) but the option to use a custom alarm doesn't work if anyone knows whats going on, although the OP said everything works besides the note that says the time to alarm.
the error it gives me: App package com.sec.android.app.myfiles not found
okay im stupid, im assuming this is because I dont have My Files installed anymore or it doesnt come with Slim ICS, trying to restore the app with titanium backup... any other suggestions?
heres the exact one I DL'd: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558337
Thanks!

Agree, wondering how to get custom alarm sound to display in choices for this clock.

I figured it out. For some reason I couldn't get files to save from the phone but when hooking it up to my computer, I was able to copy files into the ringtones folder. The songs now show up as choices for the alarm ringtone.

kinda tedious, but hey, not that much work.... I *think* setting something as ur ringtone from poweramp should work too if i remember correctly then.
Thanks!

Phone Alarm small bug

Hey guys I was wondering if someone also has this small bug after installing Phone Alarm. I noticed that my sound tap under sound & notification in setting seems to automatically turn itself off after an hour or so. I then have to go back into setting to turn it back on. Is there a setting under Phone Alarm that I missed or something? Thanx in advance.
You should post to the pA site.. Also make sure you are using verison 1.63.. It has some updates just for the Tilt..
I have had VERY few issues with pA....
I had this issue with version 1.62 that going to a profile with sound set at Zero value and then returning to a normal profile would cause the screen taps to go silent. This required taps to be re-enabled from the Settings / Sound. However the problem is corrected with version 1.63 and everything thing is okay now.
Thanx for all the help. I thought I had got the latest 1.63 but I guess I was still running 1.62. After 1.63 everything was just fine.
Also be sure to check if all your profile settings are still correct after restoring them from the phonealarm settings backup file! I restored from a file I exported on my tytn and some volume settings were set on "leave unchanged"...found out the hard way, when my phone rang in a lecture
Noobie Question:
You were talking about 1.62 and 1.63? I'm guessing that you are talking about ROM versions? If so mines 1.57.502.2 I'm running whatever AT&T. How easy is the update? Is it like a reinstall, similar to reinstalling XP or is it like a patch, like a windows update kinda thing?
I'm Using some French Program for my alarm currently, cause its the only alarm I've seen that works ok and actually wakes up the phone to make a sound. I want a working alarm from the phones standard alarm clock. My one on my BlackJack work amazingly, but I upgraded to this phone and it seems like it does everything except having a decent alarm clock.
I do hope I'm in the right sectionr I own an AT&T Tilt
Thanks in advance.
No we are not referring to the ROM Versions but to the PhoneAlarm versions. 1.63 build 200 is the current latest.
Where would I go to download that? And is for the AT&T loaded ROM file on the Tilt? Or is it like a third party install (if so is it free or paid?) I'm using Pocket Wake Up, Its ok but like I said before its in partialy in french. But it was free.
The website is www.pocketmax.net
And it is just like any thrid party application and it is not free

No Vanilla Clock After Lockscreen Fix...

Hey guys, I just got done flashing the third update on Flipz's page that fixes the Vanilla lockscreen problem and deletes the stock world clock/installs the Vanilla Android clock. I'm running the latest version of DamageControl, and prior the flash I had installed JsChiSurf's Rotary-Style lockscreen without time and carrier that's downloadable OTA from DCUpdate (I went in through adb and also removed the HTC lockscreen prior this so that things would be transparent). I didn't care to lose the Rotary-Style lockscreen because I needed the alarm clock fix.
The new locksreen works like a charm, but I have been unable to find a Vanilla clock app in my app drawer (and of course, my stock clock app is gone). The time displays fine on my taskbar and my lockscreen--just no app to be found anywhere. I did a nandroid backup, so I could in theory just go back to what I had, but I really needed the alarm clock fix and don't want to do that.
I hope I'm not just missing something obvious. Any help is appreciated. I've been a lurker here for a couple of weeks and have benefited greatly from all the info...I searched and searched to see if anyone else had this problem, but couldn't find anything (even searched the replies to the issue on Flipz's page).
Thanks in advance...

Anybody...?
I applied the one that didnt delete the original clock app, but i still want the fix. I want to be able to use my alarms without having to run desk clock every night or have to restart whenever the alarm goes off.
Alright, I'll answer my own question since I figured it out by accident.
Long story short, re-flashed my ROM yesterday, opened my apps drawer this morning, and there was the new clock app.
Don't know why. Just posting in case someone else has this issue in the future. Won't guarantee it'll fix anyone else's problem, and quite frankly I don't really know why it fixed mine. Didn't wipe, nothing. Just re-flashed.
If someone could explain, that's cool, if not, that's cool too--my phone works like I wanted it to now.

Little frustrated. Any roms with ALL of these or individual apps.

I really like these features and hate that no ROM has them all. ((That i see))
Glad the ROMs exist of course but its a pain to go from one ROM to another and lose something you like.
1. 270 screen rotation. I hate it. I want it turned off. Emonthers spare parts has this option. No other rom seems to. Not all rotate mind you..just the 270((i.e rotate right))
2. Enhanced contacts. Hide or not store frequently called ,advanced delete options on call log etc. Emonther and Cyn have this. Leofroyo does not.
3. Music track skip via volume. I distinctly remember this in pre-froyo ROMs.
Dont mind picking a ROM then adding these via zips/apks etc. But cant seem to find Froyo/Rom freindly versions.

May try that later.
Does music skip via volume even exist anymore ?
All I see is trackball wake/skip.
The CM 6.0 have all of those features. Check out the nightly builds.

[Q] Ringtones manager that won't reset after adding new music.

so... I'm having a problem.
Every time I add new music to my Captivate, it screws up my ringtones. I'm using whoisit lite to manage them, but it is useless. even its backup get screwed up.
I found this thread where the dude has a similar problem, but mine does not go back to default. they all change to a random music. but no one there posted a solution.
so i'm asking it here: how do I fix this? which app do i have to download to make sure my ringtones won't change every time I add new tunes?
I've had this issue on stock ROMs before as well. It happens because the phone unmounts the sd cards when you put them in mass media mode, so it can't see your custom ringers anymore. I don't know why they get reset sometimes though and not others. Some ROMs did it to me, some didn't, and I don't have a good answer as to the rhyme or reason.
If you're rooted, you can copy your current ringers into system / media / audio / ringtones and they'll stay put (because they won't unmount anymore), but I don't have a great answer for you otherwise.
Does it do it with the stock ringtone picker as well, or just the one you downloaded?
Stock picker have this bug as well. which is why I downloaded whoislite in the first place.
I just downloaded Locale, which handles the contacts ringtones, but does not work with the alarms. but might solve at least 70% of the problem. doing some test right now.
I'm using Andromeda rom, BTW (not sure if its the current or not, tough)

Can't use custom notification sounds

Hi all,
I use a couple of apps that I use custom notification sounds for. However, when I test or get a notification on said app, the Note 9 "seizes" the notification and plays the default notification. IOW, my custom setting has no affect. So I miss the event in question. Happens on multiple apps, so I know it's the phone.
This thing is amazing, once I got other things straightened out. It really is the Star Trek tricorder. ?
Any ideas? Help much appreciated!
Rich
Bumping this... anyone?
Try a reboot. Should work after the first reboot when you add custom sounds so I doubt it is a legit fix. Something else must be going on.

Been there done that... no change
Have you tried deleting your ringtones or sounds and pasting them back in folder? I'm just throwing mud at the wall here. Once I paste in the folder if it doesn't work right away a reboot let's the OS see it. Is it regular mp3 or ogg format also?

They're ogg format. Tried everything you said. I put custom notification sounds in 0/notifications and it works fine on every other device I own, reboot or not so I know it's in the phone or Oreo. The app (Space Launch Now) lets me set any notification sound I want and has a test button. When I do the test or get a notification the phone won't see the custom sound and plays the default notification anyway, after several reboots also.
This YouTube video is for Note 8 But its the same procure for the Note 9

I Am Having the Same Issue!
Hi Rich, I’ve had the exact same problem and have spent likely 10-20 hours trying to get this to work over months worth of time. I started with Android Pie (9) and Samsung UI 1.0, and had the issue. Recently, I hard-reset my phone, and installed Android 10.0 and UI 2.0, and nothing has been fixed. Also, I exchanged my phone when I first noticed the issue under the old operating system, and both phones are experiencing the same issue!
I select customs sounds for some apps (under Notifications), but they will not sound. Samsung/android takes over the notification and plays the default sound. I have a newer Note10+, on T-Mobile. In fact, yesterday I was working with a senior tech support person at T-Mobile, and we tried everything. He had a Note10+ there, tried changing to the custom sound, and his device also did not work, did not change it to the custom sound!
Just wondering if you ever got this to work, or have you found any workarounds? I would really, really appreciate your response!
Thanks, Dave
I had this exact same issue. I had to strip all of the tags from the mp3 files and put them in the 'notifications' or 'ringtones' folders. Once I did that, they appeared in the built-in media picker and also worked when using esExplorer to set the ringtone or notification.
