Hi, I,m using Mokee rom for quite sometime now. From what I experience, this rom is by far the best rom in terms of HD gaming (lag free). But there just one problem that keeps bugging me. During using wifi, when the screen turn off, you can never turn on the screen back again. It seems that the phone power has been switch off & the only way to switch it back again by removing the battery. Has anyone experience this?
yes! this rom does have that problem. I call it "wifi death lock"
solution: dont leave your phone by itself. use any app that will keep the screen awake like miui music app...

Thanks mate, I'll try that...but does it drain battery?
there will be very little extra drain.... give it a try...
At last...I have found the solution to "wifi death lock" problem. Its an apk called "Advance Wifi Lock". You can search that app at ipmart forum because Play Store version are not full version. Just install that app & set the "Auto Disable Grace Period" option to 0 second. Don't forget to add the widget to desktop for your convenience to turn it on when using wifi. @ Zuk/Whyzee, can u add this app to the first post of the Mokee thread as I'm cannot make comment/reply because I'm a new member. Hope this can help...
try PMing zuk. I'll include it in my thread...
UPDATE:
i was using wifi today and didn't face the wifi lock problem. though the screen locked itself wifi wasnt disconnected and i was able to unlock without any kind of problems. Weird, is it?

The problem still happening to me. I guess I still have to rely on "Advance Wifi Lock". By the way, are you sure that you're not using "Advance Wifi Lock" during that time?
yes I'm sure.
btw, flash my patch and I see. maybe that did the trick?!

I was downloading "Run Run Bear" yesterday through wifi and the phone went to sleep when it was still downloading. But I was able to unlock it and even play the game without any problems.....
UPDATE:
yes you are right the SOD is still there. But it only happens when the wifi is on and inactive. If you are downloading something through wifi there's no SOD
SOD fixed!!!!

This has happened on every nightly I've used, which is why I think it's related to the kernel.
Has anyone found a fix?

Not sure to what the cause is. However, for me I noticed that every time I left wifi on and put my nook to sleep I would get sod anytime after an hr. So now I manually disconnect wifi every time I put my nook to sleep, and I have not once experienced another sod. There are some people that say the latest nightlies have fixed sod but other report there still there so I guess it varies.
I'm currently on n125 with dal's 6/30 oc kernel.
The problem still occurs with the recent nightlies.
It's weird, last night I left it in sleep mode with wifi turned on, and it powered up fine this morning.
A few hours later, I put it in sleep mode, set it down for a minute, then tried to use it again. It wouldn't wake up. From what I can tell, it doesn't matter what amount of time passes.
I'll keep trying the wifi trick you mentioned. If disabling wifi does the trick, then that will narrow down the problem quite a bit.
Thanks for the tip!

I am on n120 with dals 6/30...I always got SOD when I left wifi set to always on...when I switched wifi to shut off with the screen, the problem has not returned!
Yup, it looks like turning wifi off before it sleeps does the trick. 48 hours later and no SOD.
Thanks for the tip!

How do you set wifi to shut off with the screen? I can't find a setting for it.

Great, thanks for the recommendation.
If you are looking for a free solution to do this, the application Setting Profiles Lite allows you to set exactly one rule.
Create a profile with wifi off. Create a rule to set the wifi off profile when the screen is off.

Details there if anyone wants to try it, works great. I used it on stock ROM, now that I have Tasker on my tablet I use it instead, but all the same.
I'm experiencing the SOD on CM 7.1 RC1... so it's not limited to the nightly's.
Has anyone escalated to the CM devs yet?
I think I have found a temp fix for the SOD, doubled my battery life, and increased my bandwidth when tethered. I am no expert at any of this, but after I installed DroidWall from the market and used the "white list" mode enabling only the apps I wanted to use the network I no longer get SOD. For example I am using wifi tether on my galaxy s in infrastructure mode with droidwall on my NC only allowing XDA app access to the internet.
I also have it installed on my galaxy and only have Linux kernel and applications with root accessesing data. I have gotten more than 8 hours on the galaxy without having to charge. Now I am able to have it tethered to my NC all day and neither device needs charging.
Heck maybe its a placibo effect maybe not.
Running CM7.1 RC1
Now if I can figure out why I lost the ability to mount my NC mass storage on the PC after using the new USB host mode and playing with the wiimote. Go figure

I've also been seeing SOD almost every time I put the NC to sleep for an extended period of time (longer than an hour). Also running 7.1 RC1. Weird thing is that it's been within the last 2 weeks that it's been happening. I've tried the Setting Profiles workaround listed above but I'm not sure if I set up the rules correctly so we'll see what happens
The setting profiles workaround didn't seem to work. I tried switching out my almost full 8gb sd card for a 16 gb sd card and after putting it to sleep overnight, it came back on immediately. Would sd card memory have anything to do with it?
I have also found AutomateIt (free market app) to work well for setting triggers and actions... i.e.
Power Plugged In -> Set Screen Off Timeout 30 min
Power UnPlugged ->Set Screen Off Timeout 2 min
Screen Off -> Set WiFi State Off (delay 5 min)
Screen On -> Set WiFi State On (no delay)
Just my $0.02... but a profile/setting switcher is not a "fix" for the SOD... it's a work around (and an ineffective one at that). The underlying problem still exists, so nothing has been fixed, we're just maneuvering around it.
I'm going to work on something that logs to a remote file and let it run for a few days. I'm hoping I can catch some data around what is going on immediately prior to the lock up.
Also, sorry for the bump.
Hello
I was running cm10.1.3 with wwjb kernel for some time and i didnt have problems until now.
It started on the wi-fi: When i turn it on it keeps turning on for ever and it's unable to be turned on, the icon keeps searching for a network in a loop. so as bluetooth.
I've reflashed the original 20A kdz to stock jb to solve this with a full wipe but the problem still remains. I've also removed the external sd and simcard. still dont work. sometimes the settings menu just shuts down and says that it stopped working due to wifi trying to turn on.
what should i do? is it an hardware problem?
thanks :good:

it just happens sometimes. wifi is working now, for instance. the error that im talking about happens when i open the wifi in settings: it freezes the phone and then a small box appears in the middle of the screen saying :"we are sorry, the settings have been disrupted" and then it closes.
Are you using a custom kernel? If not your hardware might be damaged, considering you had the same issue on both stock & CM roms.

i'm running Iodak 8.5 kernel. Sometimes wifi works, sometimes it doesnt. very weird imo.
Hi! I have an odd problem... My wi-fi is dead, for sure, and I want to disable it, forever. It just keeps trying to turn itself on, and it drains my battery.
I read on some sites that I have to delete the wi-fi libs from my phone and I'm fine.. but where are those libs? I've found a thread on this topic, this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/permanently-disable-wi-fi-s2-t2604586 , but there's no answer... I just want to know what to rename/delete, as I said, my battery lasts something like 7-8 hours if I put on some music in my headphones, and 13 hours max on idle.
Hope somebody will answer.. Thanks

If you want help you need to provide what ROM are you use, do you use some scripts etc... I am not sure what the problem is, but you can try to do factory reset.
Look, I am using the Stock room, it's rooted, stock kernel. I don't need to fix my wi-fi, it's broken (hardware problem, my bluetooth is dead too), i've tested it, there's no fix for it, but to change the mainboard, and I'm not going to do that. What I want to know is which file to delete/ rename in order to have my wifi permanently disabled. I am using the stock 4.1.2 ROM.

When you turn off WIFI from options it should be off, it will not search network. What is happening to you?
Look, when I say it's a hardware problem, it's a hardware problem, I did test it, the result of the test was that "[NotSet]" driver thing, means my wifi is dead. I just want to know what I have to delete/rename/ whatever in order to have my wifi permanently disabled. That's all.I don't want to repair anything, ok?

Ok, do not pull a gun and shoot at me please. I say, when you disable wifi in options, it should not turn it self on. So I do not know why would you need to remove anything… But you can wait for someone else to answer too.

Try to uncheck scaning always available in advanced settings of WIFI.
I don't have any option like that one in my advanced wifi settings tab... I did change "keep wifi on during sleep" to "never", but I don't think it worked out... Where is that wifi driver located? Maybe I can delete it, and then I'm happy...

I have no idea. And I do not know if that will solve your problem, or it will cause some FC...
Then I'll leave it as it is, I think a phone change will sort the problem out . Thanks!
Hi all... I basically have two problems. First of all, I got the Z3C happily rooted... The problems are:
1- Tap2wake simply doesn't work, regardless of how I tap... fast, slow, super fast, thumb, index finger, etc... enable it/ disable it... same issue... refuses to work.
2- I use exDialer for my dialer... It works great (I've been using it for a couple of years)... the problem arises when I miss or reject a call. When this happens, Sony'x Phone apk (forgot the exact name) crashes. I have to acknowledge the notification of the crash and everything continues to work... strange ha?
Any ideas what can be going on? Thanks!
Carlos
Did you uninstall Xperia Home? That will cause the phone app to crash on calls as you describe.
I assume you have the option for tap to wake checked? Possibly you uninstalled something that it needs? Never ran into that particular issue.
Can't comment on issue #2, but T2W works flawless for me in 99.9% of the cases (with firmware .98).
Did you (now it might be too late) check whether both problems were there before you unlocked the BL?
What firmware version are you using?
Thanks.. Yeap. too late... already rooted...
Regarding #1, still doesn't work. Even after unfreezing Xperia home, which indeed fixes #2...
Thanks!!!
Carlos
so I've frozen some apps on the z3c, but I can't quite figure out which one controls the tap2wake function. I've tried the trial and error way (freeze/unfreeze), but can't narrow it down. Any of you have any ideas which apk controls that?
Thanks again!!

Thanks Kev. What I ment to say is that I want to be able to ENABLE it... I have it ticked on, but since I froze some APKs, it's not working. I wish to know if anyone knows which one is it to unfreeze it (if that's the case). I've tried but I havent been able to figure it out.
Best regards,

similar is not equal.
The setting are equal? on yours wifi...
app like greenify or any other battery saver, firewall, smart saver, anti virus, have that option. you need to check it app that you have, of course you will not check a app that maybe does not have that function (games and app that really use internet). But if you dont find it, check everyone.
what to check? wifi setting in side the app just like the pic i posted but on it app, if the app have a wifi block wen the device goes to sleep the setting will be very similar to the one on the wifi.
