How to put ringonte (.mp3) into phone memory?

Ok... I'll bite. Ringdroid from the market. Any other answer will take some info.

As in, the ringroid will put the ringtones in the sd card memory not the phone memory, i tried copy paste over but fail.

To place them into the phone memory you will need to either copy them using the terminal or push them through adb.
using adb, place the file(s) in your tools folder

adb push filename.mp3 /system/media/audio/ringtones
In the terminal, if you place them in the root of your sdcard

cp /sdcard/filename.mp3 /system/media/audio/ringtones
I am not sure if you need to remount or not to push/copy into the folder or not.

It says read-only file system as the error.

Try:

That should fix the "read only" problem.

i'm not using adb... I'm using the second method which is in the terminal.

Do yourself a favor and go get Root Explorer from the market. It lets you move any file to anywhere.
Move your files to /system/media/audio/ringtones and remember to check to see if the files that are there are .ogg or .mp3. If they are .ogg just rename your files after you move them.

What you mean I have to rename the files after i move them?

What's the exact application name? I tried searching on market but could not find any.

I like SUFBS but ES (or estrong) file explorer is good also. SUFBS cost a buck or 2 but I think it is worth it. Either way your phone needs to be rooted for this. You do have root right?

Yeah, phone is rooted. I tried ES Strong Explorer but cannot work, it says something about permission or something like that..

I'm not sure if it's a "hero thing" but sometimes the file extensions in the ringtones folder are not .mp3. They are .ogg. If you look into the folder and see .ogg files just change the extension and you'll be all good.
As for the apps. Look for "Root Explorer". I believe there are both free and paid options. The paid one isn't very much $$ so, considering how much easier it makes things, give up the loot and support a dev.

id use terminal with cmds, would be a tad faster and a bit more reliable, in my opinion, but as of searching on your behalf i have found root explorer a paid version and estrongs free version by searching "root" while in the market. estrongs sounds unstable. If your going to pay for a good file explorer get SU file manager&terminal. (and...SAA?ror)

OK dude. If you're rooted I assume you have somebody's recovery. Boot to recovery and go into console (Alt+x). Now do this.
<enter>
mount /system <enter> (maybe mount /system/media if just /system doesn't work)
mount /sdcard <enter>
cp /sdcard/yourfolder/yourringtone.mp3 /system/media/audio/ringtones <enter>
reboot
You should be good to go.

How to push fonts into system dir???

Hi to All!
Is there some way to transfer Hebrew fonts from sd card to system of device?
I can see sd cards folders,also i see WildFire system folder-like fonts e.t.c.
i use dual file manager app to manage files on sd card,i success to copy the file from sd card,but i can't to paste the fonts on system folders.There isn't option to paste the copied files.
Some advance on this issue?

I found my problem.
I thought that i done softRoot,but unfortunately it isn't,i can't to paste the files because the folders of system still closed.

maybe try with a rooted explorer.
Push the file to your sdcard and then copy it with the root explorer to the font dir.
(didn't tried it, it's just an idea)

No - it doesn't matter,i tried with two different application to push the fonts,all systems folders is closed,i think it's related to root of device.

If you want to push files to /system using soft root, you'll need to mount bind and then symlink a new directory containing all of system's content.
Otherwise, I'd just wait for full root which will be with you soon.

Well, technically, the root is ready.
I've been hassling unrEVOked devs as much as I can to give me a final test build so that it can go live, but these guys have other lives and, to be honest, the Wildfire is small fry to them.
Regardless, I am continuing to ask them -- I'd really really hope that it will be released within the next week, but, obviously, it's out of my hands.

You need to boot into *recovery mode*, go to "Partitions" in clockworkmod and select "mount /system". When this is done, you can put the fonts in.
The unrEVOked root will still not allow you to write to the /system partition during normal bootup.

when i try to paste the fonts,i get waring "Warning!!!Do you want to overiwrite (folder will be merged)"? i press ok then i get app notice "paste is failed".

As I said, go into adb in recovery mode -- don't connect it up as a folder you can access with PC as you will not be running with root privileges.

You need to connect the device to the PC, then restart the device *in recovery mode*.
You need to stay in recovery mode throughout.
Then mount /system and use adb on your PC to push the files.

I'm trying to push the fonts file as you said through adb cmd:
(adb push /sdcard/fonts /system/)
,but I get next error "cannot stat: /sdcard/fonts/ not such file or directory".
the adb not recognize/see the sdcard.

Just flash the following zip from recovery: http: // hero.host-il.co.il/HebVillain/Hebrew_Fonts_Dalet11.zip
(remove spaces in the URL)

OK, I know how to use ADB to reboot and get into download mode on my phone, but I have a kind of emergency. I was attempting to replace a framework-res.apk file on my phone to change the battery icon, and now I am stuck FCing all over the place. So much that I can't put my backed up framework-res.apk file back in /system/framework via Root Explorer like I normally do.
I am connected to my phone, can list directories, but cannot seem to push the framework-res.apk file.
Can someone give me a step by step on how to do this and soon please...
EDIT: I think I got it. I needed to be in Recovery Mode, and then it seemed to copy fine.
While I do have someone's attention (hopefully), how do you change directories if the directory you want to change to is two names, IE 'Battery Mod'?

Is your backed up framework on your sdcard? You could try adb shell.
from pc,
adb shell
su
cp XXXX/framework-res.apk system/framework <<<may need to use busybox cp
exit
exit
adb reboot

My backed up framework file was on my PC. The first one I was trying to get to was on my phone, in a folder called Battery Mod, which I could not get into because ADB kept saying wrong substitution or something?
Either way, I was able to get it done, so I learned something new again.

EDIT: I think I got it. I needed to be in Recovery Mode, and then it seemed to copy fine.

That makes sense, it may not let you Push to the file system while it's in use.
As for 2 names, do you mean from a windows command box or in the android command line. Windows you just type it as is. Linux is a little more picky, I usually try to remove spaces from directory names so I don't run into any problems with that. In linux a backslash works, ie, cd /sdcard/Battery\ Mod
Not sure if it will work on our phones.

Its in the zip, but make sure you launch 1click_cwr in the same folder as recovery.img
Dont copy it out or anything like that. The program looks for recovery.img to be in the same folder as 1click_cwr.

i have tried keeping it in a zip and extracting it all to the same folder only when i extract it is when i can run as admin and my phone is rooted so that not the problem

You can't run an executable in a zip file. It must be extracted first. Even if you just click it from within the zip file, it is still extracted to a temporary location......
All you need to do is:
Extract the entire folder somewhere on your computer (right click extract(depending on your os/installed zip program, the menu may be different. Just extract it!))
Run 1click_cwr as admin (right click on the icon and click run as administrator)
That it your done......
Make sure USB Debugging mode is ON.

i did extract it all to the same folder and right click as
admin and it said in the cmd

Well, there are two error I see there....first: can't push file to phone because premission denied.
2nd: Can't change premissions on the file because its not found (because of 1st error).
I would suggest googling 'permission denied adb push' I found a lot of people with your same problem...I can only speak to my application which worked for me and a lot of other people.

Have you tried setting permissions for the /data folder? Use root explorer and long press /data folder and check all nine boxes.

hello.... I just recently bought a Thrill from a person off craigslist. It came rooted and I hadnt known. Is there anything I should be worried about? like if he installed anything that could be tracking the phone or anything? Also, how can I tell what method he used to root it. Basically, how do i figure out how to unroot it and erase everything so i can have the expirence of actually doing everything myself so i understand it.

just installed GALACTUSMOD 4.2 XXLT5, i wanted to push/move stock FMRADIO.APK and EMAIL.APK. I already installed Root Explorer to be able to push .apk. but i have one problem. /system has RW option, /system/app no RW option. i tried the other way of pushing using terminal yet still cant locate it. does anyone can fix this? or does anyone can make a tutorial to enable the RW option for /system/app so i could able to move apk's I wanted to have on my phone.

You can't locate what? Check in /preload/symlink/system/app folder. I still don't get what you are trying to achieve. Push apk to phone from pc or?

Hi sir,
Im trying to push Email.apk and FM.apk to GalactusMOD ROM, I'm using root explorer I can locate /preload/symlink/sysmtem/app and system/app but the prob is, there is no R/W option. I cant push or move those APKs. Hope you can help me. thank you

Not sure of the method you are using, but try this.
1. enable USB debugging. Connect phone to PC and open terminal / cmd.
2. run command adb devices to make sure the device is listed.
3. adb root.
4. adb remount
5. adb push Email.apk /system/app
then manually change the permission of the app using root explorer or use chmod command.

Hello sir,
I've read again all the details of GALACTUSMOD, it says
"My ROM no longer uses System/app! this has all been symlinked to Preload.
so any MODS/THEMES Etc need to be Preload ONLY!!!"
i guess im not gonna able to push or either move apk to system/app

anyway, I got kitkat email, and spirit fm unlocked. thanks for your response. i really dont know how to push apk. using adb no time to read about it. i just know root explorer. maybe someday if i got time. i really need my phone for my clients they're calling and texting.
