Hey guys I've played with the beta releases that some great devs have uploaded but I am still not understanding if HTC will releasea version with sense or are all incs users up shot creek without a paddle? Seems kind of stupid if we don't get it my phone runs the betas with no slow downs at all.
Any help with this would be great.

From what I've heard,HTC hasn't published any concrete press statements on weather they will upgrade Inc s to ics.The most likely outcome-they probably won't upgrade it,considering the late arrival of even sense 3.0.Luckily,devs are doing much appreciated work of keeping our device alive.
In regards to virtuous quatro beta1, I can't seem to connect properly to a wifi router, which uses wpa[psk] encription,it connects but nothing on the browser loads and wifi icon is grey.WPA2 router works just fine.Any ideas? Thanks
That is a huge let down as why they would kill this phone it is amazing if HTC kills us that is ridiculous

ICS for incs
I don't think htc is going to update our device. But there is allready one good ICS custom rom!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424260
I used this rom now for a few days now, and it runs really smooth!! Only the camera doesn't work, but i'll think they get it fixed soon. There working hard on this rom! So if you wan't to get ICS on your device, you should give it a trie!
Ya I tried it and love it hence my frustration with HTC if the modding comunity can release such a.beautiful working Rom than why can't a billion dollar company. Especiallysince we dumped about 800 bucks into a.phone last April that is now being left in the dust like a old run down Buick lol

Chances are that we'll miss out on some native ICS love. They'll probably provide an update for devices from a certain date and anything prior to that will be left behind.
Given the lack of support for us IncS users, I wouldn't be surprised. Not to matter though. Give it time and we'll all be running CM9!
I'm curious, why can't the IncS get ICS? It should have everything it would need to run it, sans heavy lag from sense.
1.0 Ghz single core, 768MB DDR2, Adreno 205 sounds more like plenty needed to run it. It seems most devices that were killed from ICS have 512MB RAM or less. ICS is very memory dependent, so that extra 256 is helping tide it over from stuff compared to Desire OG and Desire Z.
Last month HTC announced the Evo Design 4G was going to get it. That thing only has a 200mhz gain on the Incredible S - 1.2Ghz single core, 768MB DDR2, Adreno 205.
IMO, 200 mhz of CPU difference is not going to be that noticeable...
Like I said, I don't believe it's a descriminate issue that means we'll be left out, but more an issue with the time the IncS was released.
Don't get me wrong, I desperately hope that we get some Official ICS love, but i'm not terribly confident about it.
Root your phone and you can flash one of the custom ICS Rome's that's already available for IncS.
I talked to a HTC rep down under who said this phone will not get ICS under any Oz carrier OTA

RC1 available! Virtuous team really rocks. All my respect, they are simply awesome. I'm using BS player and LG cam app. Works smooth, few bugs, like the photo widget one... But I guess that now the effort will be focused on improving the camera, which is working.

Installed and works nearly perfect
Virtuous Quattro RC2 works pretty well on my IncS. Loving ICS so far! I did notice that we have a 8 megapixel camera but with this Virtuous Quattro we are only using 5 megapixels....
I don't care if a stock ics update arrives ota or not. I'm using miui and it's way better than the sense stock rom. As for ics version, there would be lots of custom roms to choose from. So don't worry guys IncS is capable to get nearly all of the custom time out there....

Sure, IMHO, HTC is by far too "sense-centric". It's their way to ensure they are at least as cool as the others in California. But for the average Android user "coolness" is not a deal breaker factor.

After looking over the specs of the HTC One V, they appear to be almost exact to that of the Nexus one....and that phone ships with both Android 4.0 and Sense 4.0 ... any thoughts on a port to the Nexus one? Would that be possible? Or has anyone heard of this happening already? Just had to ask, as they are so similar.
Thanks!
First there has to be a dump of the device, which I have not seen.
Second there needs to be space on the phone, that would require a bunch of scripting to be done.
Third problem is images size. Rember all the resizing that was needed to make the icons the correct size for our screen size.
Last comment would be driver and kernel compatibility.
At best the rom would be as stable as our best 3.5 sense ports.
Maybe it could help :

I also noticed it was ported the Desire HD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539423
not sure if this is at all helpful to developers, i just thought that being such similar devices, it may be the easiest 4.0 ROM to port to the Nexus One.
and , now for ICS stock ,we have almost all, camera preview works ...
I'll be happy to see Sense 4 for our Nexus One , because sense 3.5 has little lags and some reboots !
Just wait one dev will be ready to port this ROM

I read somewhere on internet that HTC Sense 4.0 is light weight. So, I think our Nexus one can handle it.

Which new phones?
Hey all,
A few people on Kijiji in my area are selling "brand new in box" Raiders claiming they have ICS 4.0 and Sense 4.0 on them. This seems like bullhonky to me. Am I missing something here? Is there a ROM with full Sense 4.0? From what I've read around here Sense 4 is a port, and a WIP, and not looking to successful due to issues with RIL....
You are correct, they are full of bull crap. There is no functioning Sense 4 ROM yet.

I strongly suspected that I was right, so I emailed these guys asking for screenshots showing the Sense version. This ought to be funny
I'm tired of HTC. If you've had an htc you know what I'm talking about. My reason has to do with source code and their violation of the gpl, hardware issues etc..It seems they are now quantity over quality.
I'd like to get an idea of how many people are leaving or have left HTC. Maybe we can send them this see if they care about their financial loss.
HTC Amaze for possibly a Nexus.
I've loved all my HTC phones, I've never had an issue with one that I didn't have with at least one other maker. Although I've switched to Motorola recently, I still believe in htc.

Those were the days. Their sense is awesome. Sense bliss 3.5, ICS sense 3.6, sense 4 (awesome ) but now not enough development on them plus now you got horrible light bleeding from the capacitive keys to WiFi issues on their newest one x. To them not being development friendly.

About time! In the nexus 7 forums someone made a touchwiz rom and I asked about sense and was told it's impossible. Given the similarities in the htc one x, and htc one architecture vs our chipset I don't think it's impossible, not at all. I'd love to help if I knew how to develop, but best of luck to ya!

Count me in for testing and applications, but as for coding, I'm a lost cause, even with a masters in tech. I can show someone how to USE or APPLY a product in the field once its created, but creation, I'll leave it to the pros! If there is anything I can do on the application/UI/FAQ/Help side that doesn't require coding, let me know.
I can definitely do any testing you need

The issue has nothing to do with chipsets or hardware. It is all software. Sense requires HTC frameworks and drivers to work. Many have tried and in the end things like data, wi-fi, GPS and things like that dont work. Trust me many high level devs have tried it and all have failed.

I get that but it's not impossible. Usually if you can find a device with the same chipset, it can be done. Devs in the HTC Flyer forum got ics with sense 4.0 ported because of the HTC One V having the same chipset. For us, DROID DNA would be the best place to start.

They were both HTC devices. The first nexus from HTC got a sense port as well.
Does htc modify their hardware in some way? You'd think underneath it all they would be identical to everything else. Forgive me I'm not a developer.

It is mostly a driver issue. The drivers are only made to work with HTC hardware. While the base hardware is the same things like the radio antenna, wifi, antenna, and things like this are different depending on the device. They are also programed very differently depending on the OEM. Without any of the Sense drivers for the OS those things dont work. This is how OEM keep their version of Android on their devices alone.
It shouldn't be really hard, target device is HTC Butterfly because has a 4.2.2 Sense ROM.I'll try 2morrow.
