Is it normal for sgn to crash? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know if its normal to come across a random crash even using stock from since I was only just charging but quickly came back to check something however as I got into the home page baaammm.... total screen freeze and I had to reboot whole system... is it easy or normal to crash this???
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

Im not getting FCs even on custom ICS ROMs. So no, that's totally not normal.

sometimes,RAM can run very low, slowing down or almost freezing device. I go to task manager then select...ram...then clear memory

It is normal for ANY phone to crash!

I completely and totally agree.
phones are not designed for the sole enjoyment of pocket protector enthusiasts and tinkerers, i.e. us... They are designed so that Joe Schmoe. or your Aunt Mable can use the device with the stock ROM without ever coming to a forum.
When a phone crashes repeatedly it means there is either something major wrong with it, or the user.

Not sure really, basically the screen sometimes totally freezes on a page of something and I have to manually reboot it.

Crashing Issues

Has anyone else experienced crashing lately on this phone? Im using the APEX launcher, but occasionally the screen will just drop to black (backlit) and not respond to any key presses, except vibrate on a key hold. 20 seconds later after all key presses screens back on responding to the key mashes.
Ive also seen a few restarts lately, usually using google maps. Next time it happens I might see if I can catch the logs.
(Wish I had cyanogen again)
nope, been flawless so far, not frozen or re-booted, had a couple of apps crash, bout it!

Probably some apps that look for your location, to share or for better service, like weather, google, etc...
Check the settings.
I have some crashes with some widgets. Clear your home screen from every non stock widget and make the test.
Still trying to figure out how to use any widget without entire phone crashes.

From both of your reason, i can see maybe its from the phone gets overheated...it is possible as same like my previous phone, while using maps, i already noticed the back case seems soo hot then it just restarted...as you already know O4X having the heat issue...
Also it can be from that your system is too overloaded and cant find anymore free room to free up the memory...and overheated at tje same time....
Its just my opinion

My Android 4.2.1 Review: What happened to project butter?!

I loved the Nexus 7 from day one, it was fast, fluid and stock android is always a good thing. But somehow Google managed to make the Nexus 7 look old by providing an update which basically kills project butter. These are my impressions:
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2013/...-for-tablets-what-happened-to-project-butter/
I agree, compared to 4.1.2 on my note 2 the nexus 7 with 4.2.1 lags to much.
Has there been any information about if/when we will get another update?
Mine is still smooth as butter. Stock, running 4.2.1. You guys are doing something wrong.

No I haven't and I won't do it either, because it will only be a temporary solution as with the forever gone app. Newly wiped devices are always faster but only until you install all apps again and use them for some time. Then the lag will start again, at least this is my experience of the past years with all mobile devices that have performance issues.

There's something to what you said. But I think in this case there is something that goes awry with the 4.2.1 update mechanism and leaves something misconfigured.
Do a factory reset
Then configure Currents to not do background sync
Then change WiFi settings to not stay on when the tablet is sleeping

I agree. I've heard lots of issues when upgrading. There is a lot of changes the SD folder structure and relocation of lots of data that could be the culprit.
I can't say if it makes a difference because I reset often between Rom flashes and major updates. My N7 is still super quick. In fact it feels the same/faster then my brand new 4.1.2 N7 (my tester device). I've been on PA for a long time and haven't factory reset in a long while either.

Nope, I'm just picky on what I put on my device. Not a load of music and videos, very minimal amount of apps, stock, Nova Launcher Prime, and do regular manual cache maintenance on it to keep it clean. Never have say, eight apps running at the same time on it, either.

No, im talking about the extreme lags on nexus 7 since 4.2.1. This didn't happen on 4.1... I'm not talking about some general slowdown of the system which is happening when you load it with apps...
Mine came out of the box using android 4.2.1. I seems reasonably smooth but the app drawer suffers random lag unlike store units that run 4.1.2.
Overall on stock rom, it is not even close to lag, just a bit of minor stuttering for me with launcher that's all.
Do factory reset. Fixed all the issues for me. I had all the problems you've been having.
After reset it was back full speed.
Do it.

Stamina Mode in Xperia T - shame on u Sony

so after update to JB Xperia P has got Stamina mode like in Xperia Z and Xperia T still doesnt?

yes, there are wakelocks from google services and android system, which you can not get rid off (at least I was desperately trying...)..you get it with all Sony Custom ROMs and all kernels, but also with CM and its derivates like MIUI...
It is mainly Alarm Manager (nothing to do with clock!) and Event Log Service...there are dozens of threads around the forums here, but nothing helped to solve the issues...maybe someone knows a solution

Google can be reduced by turning off "backup my data" and auto sync. As for android system those are necessary functions and it will always be there, the amount it drains depends on the efficiency of both the ROM and the parts (radio etc) in the device. Same goes for mobile standby, except this can be reduced by having 3G off. Basically don't use functions/apps you don't need, that's the only way to save battery

that's not the issue - I know how to save battery. My point: even if you stop all syncs, delete all data-apps, which might be rogue, stop all backup data stuff, maps connecting to Inet, etc. you still have draining the battery by these wakelocks! That's the first and only device I use (besides 2 Sammy Phones and one HTC device), where you can not stop wakelocks!

Same with the galaxy mini. Its just that cheap designs have parts that don't perform as well, but performance demands juice so the armv6 single core qvga/hvga designs with weak radios inherently use less power anyway, plus the roms are less bloated because of space issues. And yeah, way off topic, even if it does have some relevance

Wait a 60 seconds then close window and upload, do this as soon as you boot. We need also a last_kmsg of the reboot issue if one is created (sometimes it isn't). For this just copy /proc/last_kmsg and upload after the reboot happens, if it doesn't exist then it wasn't created during your reboot. My friend @laufersteppenwolf is working on a fix for this, he thinks its due to bad sources, he already has my logs but some additional "testimony" might be helpful

Thanks mate, I'm gonna get my replacement tomorrow, if it still reboots I know how to reliably reproduce it. Kmsg sometimes gives different stuff, no pipe error, system bin files not existing, and sometimes no error at all. The games Modern combat 3 and 4 frequently cause this reboot, my favourite games seem to be the "control" here, damn seriously big thanks here, you don't even own the device!

Which superuser app do you use? After switching from supersu to clockwork su reboots seem to have stopped. But sometimes they don't happen for a while. What I'm gonna do is use the app "root logger" to trace shell activity, maybe something I use is accidentally issuing this command, because it does it like terminal does it.

New from three, only a month in, they gave me a second one, still happens sometimes. The new .142 firmware helped, now it only seems to happen with < 35% battery, so I think it relates to that. You said you had some shutdowns on low battery too right? I think on the previous firmware something really intensive like playing modern combat 4 online caused some sort of power failure, on the new one its only unstable once the battery is low. So its bearable now, once my battery is that low I tend to recharge
Sent from my LT30p using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I am affraid that the battery in T is big fail. It is not normal, to have such big drop in voltage (in li-on battery) on heavy load.
In full load, the voltage drop can be about 300 - 400 mV, which means when you have 3,6V (which could be around 40%) and the battery drops to 3,2V, that the phone shuts down. Android probably doesn't know that, because it isn't stable 3,2V so there is no notification.
Install Cooltool, go to advanced, custom label path, write there "/sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8921-charger/power_supply/battery/voltage_now" and select labels, custom label.
Watch the voltage when playing.
I already ordered new battery, so I will test it with new.
Btw what is the capacity of your battery? There are two - 1850 and 1780 mAh.

I've been emailing and browsing XDA for the last 20 minutes and its been sitting right around 85*F every time I've checked on it.

No I haven't experienced that stuff. It runs very smoothly.
I'd recommend resetting the android os from settings 》 backup&reset.
The next level is to completely reinstall the operating system using Samaung Kies (download straight from Samaung website). Install usb drivers from samsung site.
Once kies recognized your phone, run a full backup if you have anything you'd wish to back up, then reinstall/intitialize phone software.

Here is a graph showing the phones temp over the last 5 hours.
On the S4 upon initial boot up, the phone performs a media scan on of the internal storage and SD card. While this was happening, the phone would become noticeably warmer, I believe the same thing is happening to your S5.
Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
Generally it shouldnt heat up. You should try a factory reset but heating is normally caused by a bad settled kernel in the firmware. Seeing as there are no custom kernels to replace it and stock firmwares to flash in Odin you could just factory reset.
