[Q] Don't have GSM on latest CM9 nightly - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,I have a Galaxy S with Android 2.1,which I updated to 2.3.6 tonight (http://androidadvices.com/root-samsung-galaxy-gt-i9000-pack-xxjvu-236-firmware/) and then I updated CWM recovery and installed latest CM9. I do not have GSM now,SIM is not recognized. What should I do?
TIA

Go back to stock GB and see if your sim gets recognised.. if it does, try flashing another ICS rom, but I'll suggest first flashing CM7 and then going to ICS from there (I don't know it matters or not..)

No,CM7 does not recognize GSM - I'm going to flash stock GB with odin and see.
p.s: Baseband version is detected tho
No wait! I can get signal with CM7! But still SIM not recognized.

Try flash cm9 and then cm9 modem.

I have this problem on any ics rom once in a while, but haven't tried exchanging the sim yet. But other sims always works, and my sim will work in other phones.
Sometimes flashing anew works sometimes not.

Try flashing jvu with odin if your sim won't get recognized. Then try flashing your ics rom.
Also flash cf root after jvu. This is what works for me if I encounter this issue.

Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575683 and use the links there.
Follow the installation instructions up to the point where you flash the actual ics rom.

You had problems too?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2

For those who had that problem, i need to know.
Could you go to *#*#4636#*#* and check is your signal there? Or is it shown unknown?

Right now it's working, but it's completely random. If I reflash a ROM its usually ok. Right now I've got a hdspa signal, but I'm pretty sure that it says unknown there at the times the phone won't recognize the sim.. I'll reboot a couple of times to see if the issue appears again.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

What is it that can be done, in any case?

I guess the issue is that the modem was not input in the first flash, but now, Bytecode must try this for himself, if it never work, i guess its the unknown baseband problem...

I see, but do you mean that the modem handles itself differently if flashed after the initial rom installation?

Yes, that is why you have an extra modem.bin in every cm9 rom zip...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2

I have installed modems from odin before, but that didn't do anything, bug was still there. Is there any other way to "fix" the no sim issue?

What i mean is as far as you are on a safe kernel, there are no chances of getting your phone hard bricked
And if anything goes wrong, you can safely go back to stock rom

Yes it will. However you can do this withou flashing the whole package if you just want the recovery.
Easiest way: use root explorer or other method to rename the recovery_boot.p back to this name. It will then restore stock recovery on next boot.
