[Q] Headphone Volume - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've noticed that after flashing different ics ROMs that some have a louder headphone volume and was wondering if there is a mod to make my cappy louder?

Yep it's called voodoo sound. Unless the ROM you flash has a kernel like glitch or semaphore, you'll have to flash one of these kernels manually to get voodoo sound, which allows for the audio hardware to go past the normal factory volume limit. You can then the voodoo sound app from the market to control the amped up volume.

Been on those two specific kernels for such a long time I totally forgot about voodoo. Thanks for answering.

Some people have said that the kp1 modem sounds louder and clearer. I use it myself but never really noticed much of a difference though from other modems. But who knows, maybe you will

Volume coming out of ear peace not speaker

Hey what's the reasoning behind occasional, I think after some calls when I adjust the volume or something after the call the volume is through the earpeace. The fix is to get in a call and hit speaker and adjust your volume then it goes back to normal. What's the dealio?

I don't understand what you're doing. What are you doing by leaving your earphones plugged in while you're on a call? (I'm assuming that you don't use these earphones on the actual call).
Earpiece, not headphones. Like you know. The phone has 2 speakers, front and back.

Did u try any other roms? Are u facing this issue on other roms too?

Although I dont have my captivate any longer, I used to have this problem all the time with my captivate. I always used DG roms but I am sure it was hardware related instead of rom related. You probably do not want to do a warranty exchange but it might fix it, I've been through 5 of them before moving to another phone.
I can't remember if its on other roms. I don't think its hardware related or it would happen more then not and it rarely happens and I can't replicate it plus it was a easy fix to get back to normal. Deffinately software bug if you ask me. Just wish I could replicate it.

It did it today. In the country, dropped a call then everything came out of the earpiece not speaker. Fix is to call, hit speaker then hang up.... ??? Why does it do this? Its been along time since it happened last but I'm still curious.

Volume booster anyone?

Is there anybody out there who knows how too make the voulme louder than it is? Because i used too have a galaxy and would use vodoo but is there anyway for this phone?

If your rooted you can use "volume+". It has settings for both the speakers & headset.

Well if its for making music louder.. Poweramp a music App actually has a "preamp" in its equalizer to boost the overall sound output. And on top of that I just like it better than androids music player more shuffleing and options.

Anyway to increase the sound volume of the Vivid? It's no where near as loud as my Skyrocket...

Yes. Place your ear closer to the speaker. Works for me.

Might try an app called Volume+ on Android market for possible.system wide.volume boost (all but earpiece and incall). Volume+ might or might not work. And for incall, click settings / call and enable hearing aids if your running a variation on the stock rom. That really gives a boost to incall volume. That's all I know. I'm running WC's 3.6 ICS rom and don't have any problems, however it has the Sony extraloud baked into it. Hope that helps!
