Hi, this note to signal the release of my Vehicle Sound Simulator for Windows Phone 7 !
Using this app (if possible, connected to your car AUX input), you can simulate 4 vehicles true engine sound while driving.
The App use GPS speed along with accelerometer to enhance your driving experience and entertain your kids !
Currently available vehicles are:
Motorbike
Train
Jet
Helicopter
When steering, you'll experience skidding tires, plane stall alarm, and train rail sound.
Trial version is limited to only 2 vehicles, and 60 seconds of fun.
After this time, you'll have to restart the app.
To enjoy the full experience, please support me buying this app !
More vehicles coming soon.
Some suggestions for the best sound experience:
Find a place where the phone is firmly attached to the car and cannot shake.
If you displace phone position, change vehicle to recalibrate.
Connect the phone to your car aux input
Start the app or change vehicle only when stopped and not driving.
If you find any trouble, or have suggestions, don't hesitate to contact me from the about page. Attached some screenshot
Have fun !
Giulio Fronterotta

not really fun... it miss acceleration state
it has only idle and running state
i hope next update you add it
thanks by the way

Cannot understand
Hi abdelamine,
I cannot understand your statement. This App simulate the engine acceleration, did you try it in a car ? Acceleremeters are used to simulate the acceleration and compensate the low GPS precision, the running engine is simulated in a real manner. The only thing missing, probably, can be the gear changin, but this is a behaviour I'm working on. Can you explain better what you mean for missing "acceleration state" ? However, thanks for your comment.

I would really be interested in getting one......

Why does every body oohing and ahhing about this piece of junk? IT DOES NOT VIBRATE!!!!.... Let me repeat. IT DOES NOT VIBRATE!!!! So the only way for you to get call notification is to either wear the ear pieces all the time or turn on your Athena default ear shattering notification sound. Now, I understand that a lot of you think that no one will ever call you or the line of work that you're in will never ever require you to attend any meeting at work so the default loud Athena notification is not a problem. But think again!!!! On that rare occasion when the hooker you paid to go out on a date with you calls, you will find yourself looking like an IDIOT emitting that horrible stupid default call notification sound that came with the Athena. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING THIS PIECE OF SH*T.
The only stereo BT headset that also vibrates up until now is the Jabra BT8010.

We all got your point dude. Perhaps a bit nicer way could be a better way of informing and putting your point across. This is a forum to share information, where manners would be nice (other than info).

Manner would be spending a minute searching for more info (problems, etc...) about the item one is thinking of posting that have been reported time after time after time after time... up here before starting another thread tricking people into buying junks....
I'm with you Red_Toyol.
I bought this headset and the Jaba but took the Jaba back after a few days in favour of this one for two main reasons. First, the sound quality on the Sony-Ericsson is definitely better, both on Music and both ways on calls. Secondly, the wires for the earpieces act as the necklace so you wear it round your neck (and inside your shirt) and it only comes out when needed.
Now, since using it for some 4 months now, I can give you a couple of other pointers.
The DS970 has caller display so I can see who's calling before I answer. OK, it's number only (there's probebly a fix for names) but I'm good with that.
Also, I charge mine once every two weeks or so. That's as I use it only now and then for music but for phone calls all the time. However, I leave the BT on the Ameo ALL the time but switch off the headset when not using it. That's because, when the phone rings (and I only have 20seconds before switching to answer machine), I have time to power up the headset (about 5 secs including logon to Ameo) and answer. When call finished, I hang up and switch off.
If you do this, you get sooo much battery life for no convenience loss AND it means vibrate would be useless anyway.
Each to their own I suppose but I am so pleased with this bit of kit. IF you need vibrate, look elsewhere. If not, this is the best IMHO.
Oh, and as for the ringing, why would you use the default ringer anyway? I have my own ringtones for various purposes and when I get a call, my Ameo rings as if I didn't have a headset. The only difference is I can choose at that point which method to answer by.
Hope this is helpful to those searching. Cheers.
DS970 indeed looks like quite an ideal BT headset.
Vibration is completely unnecessary for me also. Even if I have such a function, I won't use it. The reason is this. If I'm outdoor, I want normal ringtone to come through from the phone's speaker. If I'm in the meeting, I would just switch via profile into one of those "special ringtone". Special ringtone could be mosquitoe ringtone (ultrasonic frequency ringtone which I can hear but some others can't), sound of coughing, or even sound of a vibrating phone, etc. Something that sounds acceptable from etiqeutte standpoint. In addition, my profile would have set the ringing to go from soft to progressively loud. There is no need to actually vibrate.
I like the style of the phone where you can hide it in your shirt with only two wires hanging out. It is much better than hanging it on the ear, which looks really wierd in my own opinion.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Beware of fake HBH DS970 from ebay sellers.
I did a quick research on this, and noted that many have bought from Hong Kong sellers mainly, but some are out of US too.
If you have it very cheap, it's likely to be a fake.
Attached are some articles related to these fake items.

Tritton - Another Option
Here is another option I came across while looking for a BT solution. The Tritton relies on the housing to clip on your pocket, shirt or coat but I have also used it with a lanyard when wearing a t-shirt. It also allows you the option of using any stereo headset with a 3.5 mm plug.
It is a very clean, mimimalist design (no blinking blue light) with an OLED display and Caller ID (number only) to conserve battery and relies on only 3 buttons for all the functions. So far it has worked very well with the Advantage and the range for both headset and stereo functions has been excellent with no static or popping at all. You can actually keep your device in your pocket, bag or briefcase without any degradation to audio quality. The only con is that there is not vibration feature.
I purchased mine at Tiger Direct for less than $100.
While trying to source for DS980, I came across DS220, which seems to be similar to DS980 except you're free to plug in your 3.5mm earphone of your choice if you wish.
Has anyone used this before? If so, how is the sound quality?
Anyone knows if there are other differences between DS980 and DS220?
bizarre this thread should appear as i bought some of these this very day for 40 quid from Cex, though they are brand new and CERTAINLY not fake. certainly if they are available for twenty quid il be gutted!! they seem to work fine. sound quality is great and i dont feel like a **** wearing them. all good then. the only thing i havent figured is whether i can get it to automatically open up media player when i press play. i also cant get it to work with my n95 - after pairing it just says 'unable to connect'. stupid n95.

my main gripe with the sony units is that they have their own propriety charger connection, a kinda bastardised Sony phone charger.
IMHO the tritton unit is much better, recently upgraded to one from a hbh-ds970
i guess it all depends on each other's preferences. some like the headset to vibrate, some like it hanging via neckstrap, etc.
this is what i've been using for 2 years now:
http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02030
it's an r35 itech unit. i use the white one and i like it for the following:
- no need to hang it in your ear all the time
- minimalistic and you can hide it in your shirt collar...or clip it
- has a built in buzzer that i can hear even when outdoors. when a call comes there are 2 beeps that go off. they won't stop until i answer or the caller hangs up
- my x7500 is either in my laptop bag, the diaper bag or in a backpack. so this saves me the trouble of carrying it all the time
- during meetings, i can disable the buzzer and change the notification to rapid light mode. basically, i leave it on the table so when a call comes through the normal flashing light turns to 2 rapid flashes
- i can change the single earphone to dual for a2dp stereo use. the headset also allows me to skip to the next track or go back to the previous, etc
- and i can plug my nifty bose noise cancelers on it as well
cheers
I really cant understand why no one does the following:
a2dp
usb chrging
option for using your own headphones
vibrate
full caller id- not just number
sms viewing
full music controls
mp3 id tag display
lanyard or clip on option
equaliser controls
oled
wm and symbian compatitibilty
Surely it can't be that difficult- I just wanna be able to leave my Ameo in my pocket until I choose to take it out

Handsfree problems in car

Hi all,
I have bought a Kaiser last week which replaced my broken Trinity. The last OS run on the trinity was a Bepe 0.79 german rom.
Now after changing to the Kaiser I have some minor but very annoying problem with the bluetooth connection in my car. My car is an Audi A3 that is officially not compatible with WM 5 and 6 but was working great with the Bepe rom.
The problem occurs only if you turn on the engine during a phone call.
The behaviour is the following: If you have an active phone call and turn on the ignition switch the phone connects to the to the free speech unit in the car and you can continue with your call. But if you continue and turn on the engine the connection between phone and free speech unit gets lost.
Does anybody has an idea how to correct this? Perhaps it is just a registry key to change as this problem did not occur on the Trinity...
Thanks for you help
TheDemon
Welcome to a world of problems! There are a couple of threads on people having problems with built in car kits. I'm sure one of them was an Audi and the person never found a real solution, just a work around (that was a contacts, not a call issue tho.) I personally had some issues with my old HTC Uni running a cooked ROM (which was a vast improvement on the total failure I had with the standard ROM!), these just aren't present with the Kaiser. I guess it's just luck of the draw and something to do with the overall package as I have several issues with different bluetooth devices, some working well with old phones not with new, vice versa, some being buggy with all. Sorry to report bad news, but if you do find a solution that works for you, great!

Sorry...can you explain the problem again? I'm not following. If you have an active phone call and turn on the ignition can you or can you not continue your conversation? The two sentences seem to be saying opposite things.
I think what he's saying is that if he turns to the accessory position, or ignition position, depending on how many positions there are (probably the one where all the lights on the dash light up) he's fine, but as soon as he turns the key to actually start the car it goes wrong. I have a feeling this would be due to the momentary powerloss to everything but the starter circuit. Dunno if there is a way to fix that, apart from wiring the carkit to a feed that stays live all the time and isn't cut when the car is started.
Funny enough, I've got a similar problem on the bike. The radio has an external display/remote plugged in (Sony headunit, RM-XM10B display/remote) which lights up when the ignition is switched on, but due to the brief cut in power to the radio when the bike is started the display goes blank. Radio comes back on fine, like it does in any car, but the only way to get the remote display to work again is to cycle the radio off/on. That might just be the way the carkit handles a brief drop in power and the only way to fix it is to wire it directly off the battery. A good auto electrician should be able to wire it so that it gets a constant live direct from the battery, but switched via a relay that doesn't die when the car is started.

Kaiser As Media Player (iPod Replacement)

At present, when I ride my motorbike into work, I listen to my iPod shuffle. I'm wondering about using my Kaiser for this instead. I got a cheap little USB plug in that allows me to connect regular headphones to it, but what else would anyone recommend?
Whats the best media player for a Windows Mobile 6 device? I'd like one that remembers where you are in a mp3 (for listening to long podcasts over a few trips).
Are there any specific headphones anyone would recommend? I have a Bluetooth intercom in the helmet, which I might try connecting up. The music wouldn't sound so good, but I could take phone calls on the bike then...
Coreplayer is good. It remembers last played location in song/video. But its not free.
I'd recommend Bose Quite Comfort As you already have an adaptor to connect to.. But it wont fit in ur helmet though.
I use mine instead of my MP3 player - if you put it into flight mode, the battery lasts for ages. I quite like HTC Audio Manager - works better the media player imo.
Headphone wise, I'd probably recommend some Shure E3C's - quite expensive, but great quality, and cut out plenty of ambient sound (though not sure if you want this on the bike?)
if you can avoid the cables while riding i'd go for that
Tilt + CorePlayer = iPod what ?????
I use my Tilt for that exact purpose ridding my Motorcycle to work and back. I use CorePlayer and couldn't be any happier. The one minor flaw is, if I get a text or email, CorePlayer does not pause and I can hear the notification and my music at the same time. If I have MS Voice Command on it can get annoying...

I switch between listening to my iPod and my TyTN II for my motorcycle rides and I would highly recommend the Shure E3Cs. I've been using them for over a year. I ride with an open face helmet and the attenuation is perfect; the earphones reduce the outside to a much more manageable and comfortable level and now I can actually _hear_ my music without having to turn the volume up high. Depending on the device I use, the volume is usually between 40% and 60%. And when I go though drive-thrus, I just turn the music off and I can hear the drive-thru speaker just fine. The earphones are on the expensive side, but I've gotten everything I paid for and would buy them again in an instant.
And from what I've been told, human ears evolved to hear low volume sounds (like a stalking predator or approaching pirate/ninja) so I'm comfortable with reducing the volume of the world around me when I'm riding by 26-28 dBs.
Paul
i use my artemis for exactly this
...and i listen to it with some streaming A2DP bluetooth stereo headphones, which also act as a phone handset - works absolutely great.
if your helmet offers an A2DP upgrade it'd be worth it, or if it's possible to swap out the existing helmet phones for a pair of bluetooth->wired earphones so you could do the same.
music via A2DP is great on phones - it mutes and pauses when you get a call, and the AVRC controls on most headsets let you answer the phone, pause, fast forward, etc.
I'm using Motorola HT820 headphones, if you can fit them on your head under your helmet they're great and under 20UKP on Amazon.
http://tiltsite.com/2008/03/use-the-tilt-as-your-full-time-mp3-player/
I use the Motorola Wireless headphones as well. My only comment is that this phone after all the tweaks I have done and battery saving techniques etc, I am still VERY attached to my charger.
Every chance I get I charge this phone because I cannot run out of battery or I am in trouble.
Using the phone for wireless music while the phone is on uses the battery pretty intensely. Consequently you will need to charge more frequently. I am usually not inclined to risk running out of battery just to have some music.

What is your guys views on Pocket Music player? Kinda loved it some few years ago in my magician (wm2003se, intel processor) but when i tried it on recent devices, the quality wasn't as good as before. Not sure if pocket music is not proper for wm5/6.
Regards,
Carty..
I use Conduits Pocket Player v4.1 it is truly the best I've found. I'm using a motorola s705 with sony ear buds and changed my registry settings "added the priority265 dword and changed my bitpool to 60" I have to say I'm very happy with it. Here is a link to it......
I tried to post a link but it says i'm a new member I've been on this site for years..... If anyone needs it pm me and I'll send ya a rapid share link
i also HIGHLY recommend conduits pocket player (v4.1 is current as of this post). i use a little mini-usb to standard headphone jack...but not in a motorcycle. i hook up the tape adapter to the jack and listen to music in the car's speakers while driving my car.
best thing about pocket player is the shear amount of powerful configuration options. its like play dough...you can adapt it to your preferences and the media browser is top notch.
worst thing about pocket player is that it is not aware of the new wm6.5.3 layout (thinner top bar and fatter bottom bar), so a few pixels along the bottom are clipped.

HD7 thoughts so far

I am really trying to like this phone even after the mango update..
But I can not understand a few things..
The Volume on this phone is crap There is no way in hell it will ever wake me up using the alarm, My droid I was able to set whatever I wanted to any ringtone or alarm ( my own music) and I was able to make the volume loud enough to actually hear it..
Microphone input why can we not use the microphone anywhere there is a input field? why can we only long press the windows logo or use it for sms? evidently it is built into the OS just fine for voice to txt why not use it across the whole os on any text input field?
No flash?
GPS navigation is piss poor unless you dump 35$ on the Garmin suite.. believe me i have tried every trial and free app this week and they all do not compare to Google maps free on the android..
Also again SOUND unless you drive with NO fan on in the car, no music, and windows rolled up and on a quiet street you will not hear the GPS telling you where to turn.
Battery life:
wow all you have to do is send a few messages and browse the web for less then 5 minutes and you are at a 1/4 power loss ...
Think it is time to head back over to android land where i was able to use the microphone for a lot more voice input...
was able to set ringtone to music I liked and was ABLE TO HEAR IT
was able to HEAR MY alarm clock
was able to HEAR the gps software that was superior and FREE
You could have saved yourself a lot of time, stress and possibly money by reading the posts in this forum which have discussed the points you mentioned about dozens of times.
I feel your pain, I bought a HD7 on launch day and sold it a week later. There weren't any reviews available back then but now, almost a year after launch, all the issues in your post at widely known.
When did you get your HD7?
re: Volume - I've never had an issue with this
re: Nav - GPS Tuner.com's "Turn By Turn" is great and cheap ($5.49 Aussie - Less everywhere else in the world)
re: Battery life - I find it the same as every power hungry smartphone I've owned... I'm used to charging once a day
A lot of the other issues you state will likely be resolved soon... But most you list are WP7 issues rather than HD7 issues...
Perhaps android is more suitable...

Any solutions to auto power on Amp?

I'm currently running a Squeezebox based Multiroom audio setup at home. Everything is co-located in a comms cupboard including the Multiroom Amp and from there wired to the ceiling speakers around the house. Currently I use iPeng on our mobiles to control everything including WoL to wake the LMS server. The LMS in turn has one of its USB ports connected to a USB triggered energy saving plug (EOn Intelliplug - USB version), which the Amp is connected to. So when the LMS wakes it triggers power to the AMP and when it sleeps the AMP is powered off.
This has worked well until we started using Spotify (which comes free with our mobile contracts). And also things like Apple Play don't work with my current setup which would be useful when people come around and want to play there own music. There are some hacks and third party plugins but with official support for Squeezebox dropped by Logitech I'm thinking it may be time to move on. I've just been waiting for a reasonably priced alternative that supports syncing of playback across zones and with the now coming to chrome cast it seems like the best route. Especially since Spotify now supports casting aswell
The only caveat is once I drop the LMS from the equation, how do I now trigger the AMP to power on. I have considered swapping the AMP out for smaller discrete AMP's for each zone, but the reasonable priced ones (like SMSL-SA-50) don't support input auto sensing based power on.
Has anyone found a solution to this conundrum? Any triggers from the Chromecast that can be used via some sort of power switch? Or a reasonably priced small AMP with input auto sensing?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Did you ever figure anything out? I have the SMSL SA-50 Plus and its auto off when on optical is driving me bonkers.
Nope, I connected one chrome cast to the living room zone. That zone uses the surround system so didn’t need to worry about amp power on/off. The other zones are still on the squeezebox system.
What do you mean the amp turns off? Does the SMSL have auto power off on no input?
