I need some help with customizing my Samsung Galaxy S. This morning I decided to do it considering the large amount of great testimonials after a lag fix.
What I have done so far:-
Fixed the three-button problem
Rooted my phone with OneClickLagFix
Installed the OneClickLagFix
Fixed Headset quality with SamServMode
What my version is (*#1234#):-
I9000DTJG3 (so I'm assuming JG3?)
Firmware Version:-
2.1-update1 (That's what it says in my settings)
What question is, which Custom ROM would suite my phone?
A couple questions for you as I am really new to android and my sgs...
What kind of quality change did you see with the headset fix and lagfix?
And how did you fix the 3br problem? I thought that was fixed by flashing JH2 (the newest one) Where as JG3 and older JH2 had problems with the 3 button. I have a newer JH2 flashed phone, but just curious as I have friends without the JH2 3BR fix.

Hey!

+1 ... Most developers are not making much as it is..more of a hobby trying to improve the android experience for everyone...why do you want to rip them off?
Swyped.....you may have to interpret
Sorry, I assumed the relaxed iPhone community would be the same here.
Can anyone help me with a Custom ROM?
Bump. Looking forward to customizing my phone.
Hi
I have the official JPY on my i9000 and Im pretty OK with it, awaiting Gingerbread in a few days/weeks. There is just one thing I dont like and its the highly distorted sound when recording video in a loud environment.
Dont understand me wrong, I've read A LOT threads about this and understand the problem I'm just not really into flashing custom kernels or ROMS. I rooted my phone and Im fine with it and all I want is this little improvement so my question is:
what's the SAFEST way to improve the sound while recording video without altering too much on the system?
Thank you alot!
I would also like to know the answer for this.
I would recommend using a kernel that includes voodoo sound - darkys froyo ROM is fairly stock but includes some useful mods including voodoo. But that does mean some flashing with Odin, I'm afraid! Don't know another way you can improve without it though

As you all know stock SGS had a crapy sound as well as recording sound quality issues.
Did someone was considering writing something similar for O2x to improve sound/enable loundness?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080090
Look there I use it on the cm7 nightlies, the volume is amazing now!
still i am on mcr due cm7 is not as much stable and have some battery life issues
Voodoo Sound was a specially-written driver for the incredible audio processor that the sgs used (but Samsung underutilised).
I don't think the OP2X has a similar quality chip, so a software solution would be less than ideal... But I'm happy to be proven wrong!

The O2X is actually using the same Wolfson audio chip as the SGS, so porting Voodoo should be possible.

Supercurio didn't ignore the requests. He found after investigation that it wouldn't be possible. He went into detail, but it's a bit over my head. The basic idea is that the edits he's done for the Galaxy S line were all housed in the kernel. For our phones, apparently, the edits would need to be done in a driver or module that we have no source code for.
He tweeted about it, maybe a month or less after the G2x was released if you want to go find it

He already has spoken about this topic, LG's source code doesn't include sound code... this means that there could not be any easy modification. Porting is possible, but he needs the source code.

Hope the source code can be delivered to SuperCurio..........i really love the voodoo sound in my SGS, and hardly required it in my Optimus 2x
high chance it is a wolfson WM8325

probably won't work but just for some info
Voodoo sounds was really fantastic on my ex SGS too...just hope LG will deliver his sound driver source
Hi
I am presently using Miui 2.2.3 by CacingKalung and i feel that the touch screen is kinda laggy. Many a times the touch does not react immediately and also the market force closes when i try to open few apps. Has any one else been facing this issue?
And secondly what does a kernel mean? I am really sorry if its a stupid question but i see so many discussing abt the different kernels and its uses but i just cant understand how it helps the phone. I have been following the development section for quite some time but i am still not allowed to post anything there as my number of posts are less than required. I feel its really a shame that i still cant post anything in the dev section though i have been logging in almost every day for the last 3 months now.its kinda frustrating too. so that's the reason i am posting my query here. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Shri
Kernel .....
As far as I know ..... , and correct me if i m wrong .....
Kernel is a interface which sits between your operating system and hardware (CPU,Memory etc.). So, here gigerbread,miui,CM7,ICS these all are OSs and kernel translates commands from OS to hardware and vice verse.....
Different kernels have different translating ability, so some can translate faster with your screen responses others cant, some can support two way call, better HD graphics, while some are bit slower ....

Should give time to settled right after boot.
Feels no big different for each kernel. But if you try other than sdkernel or mock kernel, your wifi won't work on this 2.2.3.

Thanks for the reply CacingKalung. Could you please do something about the touh sensitivity and the in call volume issue? The touch especially is kinda laggy. I am now using MIUI 2.3.7 hooney comb them based ROM by elol. The touch works perfect in this ROM and also there is no call volume issue so far but some apps force close like Fring and power amp which are very important for me. so want to switch to some other stable ROM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cheers,
Shri
ok i re-installed the ROM and now the touch screen seems to be working fine. But i forgot to mention the main issue i am facing. The audio quality seems to have gone down. The sound is feeble now. some times accidentally it becomes louder which is actually the normal output but otherwise its feeble all the time. CacingKalung can you please do something about this? i am writing all this only because of all the ROMs i have used i liked this one the most i shoud say CacingKalung has done a wonderful job !!! and i really want to stick on to this for some time until we get a stable and fully working ICS. Hopefully there is a solution for this. Thanks in advance for any help and keep up the woderful work.
EDIT : The sound now is fine looks to me like a hardware issue but i can confirm that its not because of this ROM... so looks like all my issues are resolved
Cheers,
Shri
Nice... you can solved your problem by your self...!
More like a rage, than a question, but... why is there no one trying to port 4.2.2 for ours x8?
Many lower spec phones have a port, wich to be fair, do have bugs, but at least have it. What happened to the x8 dev scene? Many thanks to nAa for keeping x8 alive, but is there no one else that can scratch the surface of 4.2.2? Plus with the .32 kernel aren't things supposed to be fair easily in porting?
I see nAa wrote 4.1.0 is coming, but... i sure would want 4.2.2 for my baby

This is a developer forum, if you want it, try to make it, if you can't, then don't complain about it.
Go back to eclair if you are not satisfied with the development so far.

I must admit that I am working on that but I'd prefer you to be patient in this area
For experience of 4.2.2 we need many requirements, ex:
unlocked BL
A new kernel (for bugless roms)
Enough knowledge for cooking kernel(we need to partition internal memory{for heavy 4.2.2} which was not necessary on gb)
Jtag tools (cooking kernel is a sensitive progress & hard bricks is so regular)
& just some developers have the knowledge & tools for cooking
#& I'm pretty sure if a recognized developer cook that kernel there will be a lot of roms for working on it

How funny, the guy that trolls everyone about not using the search button, failed to use it. The only BS talking comes from you my friend by playing smartass and looking dumb at the end.
Here educate yourself lil bit, and "use the search button"

naa himself said that he is working to release android version 4.x for our device..
so it's possible that we might get 4.2..
Well I must say I'm surprised that they've got it working on such a POS phone..
I don't think the experience would be up to much though with so little ram and microsoft's (LG) cheapo hardware ideology..

Judging from changelog, development seems a tad easier over the fence. Kernel version is up to 2.6.35.
