Hi
I helped my colleague to get Root via Alpharevx. No problem what so ever got clockwork recovery installed also without problems. Su installed via Clockwork rec. and finally rom Manager installed everything went smooth.
Then he did a backed up his data and installed Cyanogen latest mod RC1. Now it is stucked in a boot loop where the animations restarts over and over again. I restared in recovery and wiped dalvik and cache and data all the jazz. I reaplayed the update still the same.
I'm fresh out of ideas. What to do?

Did you flash 4EXT Recovery BEFORE flashing CM7?
No i didn't!
Also there seem to be some problem with the /system because when i tried to reinstall his backup i got the message "error formatting /system"

Anyhow is there a easy guide on how to install this 4EXT now that i cannot get the phone to boot. do i use fastboot? help me please!

Get 4EXT Recovery from HERE. Flash it and then flash CM7.
thank you i found the thread but i donno how to flash it? do i put it on /SD and flash it via recovery "install update.zip" or do i use fast boot. i'm sorry i'm a noob i kinda need step by step instructions
i don't know which one to download. There are several files to download from there
Download the first v1.1.1 file.
Place it on your SD Card.
Boot into Recovery.
Choose 'Install Zip from SD Card' then 'Choose zip from SD Card'
Choose the 4EXT Recovery file.
After flashing that go into the 'Wipe/format' menu
First Factory Reset, then wipe cache, then wipe dalvik cache
Then go into the install zip from SD Card and install CM7
It should work.
I would also suggest flashing cm through clockwork...
It is a personal opinion...but I had errors when using Rom manager

Thank you very much for your help Cardiiiii! It worked like a charm!
I was a bit worried since i could no longer boot in any of the roms (original or CM) but i knew it can be fixed as long as i could boot in clockwork recovery.
Thank you NikonElite i'll keep that in mind. It appears Incredible S is harder to play around with that my Nexus S. Never had any problems flashing any roms.

Before getting Android phone - I had uploaded hundreds of pictures on Picasa Web albums - last night I have installed CM7 and it has synched all those albums in the phone galarry - Cant disables picasa albums Settings>Accounts and Sync Please help........
since its a CM7 thread I am posting my problem here.
I have no option to turn mobile internet on in wireless and network, has it been relocated? The only option I see is data enabled but that doesn't turn on/off the mobile internet.

On CM 7.0.3, if you pull down the notification bar, there was a toolbar that you could configure for toggling your data connection on/off. I believe you configure it under Settings-> CM settings
@hussainmushahid, if your data wont work, ur ****ed, same as me, you need a custom version of cyanogenmod, ask attn1 for it, he has it
the reason is the ril got changed after it got changed data wont work for vodafone nl users, and most likely your carrier as well

I need your guidance and expert advice in resolving a situation, I have ran into recently. I was trying to install CM10.1 on my brother's galaxy Note GT-N7000 international version which was running official ICS 4.0.4.
Since, I had experience in installing different ROMs on my Galaxy S2, Nexus 7 and Xperia Arc so I was not worried about it being a big deal. This was new to me, so I tried few things like 'factory reset', wipe data etc and even tried installing stock ROM ICS XXLRK which was previously installed but no avail. I tried several other ROMs like stable CM9 and other nightlies but no success. The phone is stuck on the boot Samsung logo with yellow triangle. However, I'm able to go in the recovery and download mode.
Upon doing couple of Google searches, I came to know, quite a number of people have faced this error by I couldn't understand the fix properly so can anyone of you please guide me for the solution. Thanks.

If you are on Speedmod's recovery (which is safe), you can try this:
1) Download the latest CM10.1 kernel and save it to your SD card.
2) Flash it in Recovery (Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard), then reboot in the new Recovery (advanced > reboot recovery).
3) Do a full wipe (even format preload and system in "mounts")
3) Flash the latest CM10.1 build
4) Flash the 4.2.2 Gapps
5) Do a data wipe / factory reset
6) Reboot
You got a yellow triangle because you flashed an unofficial kernel through Odin. To get rid of it, use TriangleAway.

Hey guys. I've been using CyanogenMod on my Galaxy S for quite a long time. Few days ago my battery died and phone wouldn't pass the CyanogenMOD logo. I've decided to go back to stock rom and then upgrade to one of the new roms.
So I flashed the stock rom using Odin 3.07, rooted, went to recovery mode and tried to flash: Mackay ROM, Beast ROM ( black and white as well as beastxl), Avatar ROM, Slim Bean, Tsunami, CyanogenMOD but none of the above worked.
It starts the installation and after few seconds phone restarts itself and gets stuck on new boot logo.
The only thing that gets installed is the CWM which won't let me do the factory reset, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache etc. Keeps saying can't mount /data, /cache, /system.
The only time I can do factory reset is when I install stock rom.
I only succeeded installing Franzy ROM once but after reboot gets stuck on boot logo.
Sometimes even the stock ROM is giving me issues like process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly (does it for dialer, calculator, market, launcher)
Another weird thing is that even when I go back to stock rom and open up for instance a picture with bright background or web browser I can see transparent battery and CyanogemMod in the middle of the screen even tho phone's not charging and running on stock rom not CyanogenMod.
I think I've tried everything from fixing permissions, flash and re-partition using Odin and 512 pit file.
Even rang my Mom like advised in xda's video, didn't help either
Is there anything else I can try to get my phone in "shape"?
Any suggestions?

try to flash stock rom again via odin , root , then flash cm 9 ( to not loose you IMEI ) , then flash CM 10.1 stable from here : http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd&type=stable
then install any costum rom you want

Thanks for your reply. Installing CM 9 worked but trying to install CM 10 throws up this error:
assert failed: run_program("tmp/updater.sh") == 0
E: Error in sdcard/cm-10.1.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Yes I did and only Franzys installed successfully but then stopped working after phone reboot.

I think that might be the case. I get encryption unsuccessful with my sdcard in and CWM doesn't see any files with sdcard out.
I found an article here on forum that explains how to use your external sdcard as the internal one. Will give it a try and see if it works.
For now I don't mind using CM 9.1.

Received this phone a month ago, just got around to rooting it yesterday. Root with motochopper went fine. Unlocked the handset with motopocalypse, everything went fine. Installed latest CM10.2 nightly and everything ran fine, even restarted phone and it worked fine. I then realized I forgot to install Gapps, So i went to CWM and installed the Gapps through "install zip from sd card". Now phone will not progress past the bootloader unlocked warning screen. I can restart and put phone into recovery or fastboot no problem but I don't know where to go from here. I tried a factory reset and reinstallation of CM but to no success. I am a bit of a newb when it comes to external programs like RSD Lite and haven't used it. Is there something obvious I'm missing in my progress of trying to fix my phone?

if you still loop do all above steps but also format system under mounts be re-install.
if you loop after all that then try a different ROM.

i can't post outside links yet but on the wiki.cyanogen site in the Gapps section I used the 10.2 20130813 1f51b5cc6370c1f45dc951109b6ce6ed release. I will attempt those steps once i can find a legitimate charger in my house. Phone doesn't accept power unless its on and i need just a bit of juice to boot it up

Here's the official name. Installed cm-10.2-2-130814-NIGHTLY-mb886.zip for the cm and gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip for the GApps, both latest versions I believe

none of the above steps worked unfortunately. Is there a set order of certain things to be mounted and unmounted in the mount section? Such as the system or sd card?

try changing the mount status of the cache
also are you getting any funny messages in cwm

i got Cyanogen up and working. And no I was not flashing gaps Before first boot. i will try doing that before everything else
I got both GApps and cyanogenmod to install properly and the phone boots normally, but now I don't see any of the GApps actually present on the phone. Did I F somethin over again?

did you flash gapps before flashing the ROM because the ROM flash will overwrite the gapps.
PS I suggest using zgapps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240652 because they are stripped down which tends to prevent a lot of issues and if you want a 4.3 ROM try skeevydudes PAC ROM it is more stable plus has more features.

I am running CM 10.1.3 RC2.
My Nook HD+ gets stuck at the cyanogenmod boot screen everytime I try to reboot it. It does not happen if I restore to my baseline backup. But as soon as apps are updated, it gets stuck at the cyanogenmod logo again after reboot.
I think it is related to google apps updating itself because whenever it gets stuck, I have to flash gapps for 10.1.x again through CWM recovery to make it boot up, for which, it again takes a heck of a long time, even on subsequent reboots. (it does boot up, it takes a very long time to get past the CM logo screen increasing my boot time to around 2 mins).
I also updated to see if CM 10.2 nightly runs fine on mine. So far, there s no issue with CM 10.2 bootig up and its boot time but it is a tad bit slow and buggy as compared to 10.1.3. So I would like to stick to a 10.1.3 RC2 rom that boots up in inder 30 seconds without having to flash gapps again and again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The long boot times has to do with how many apps you have installed. On boot the operating system must compare the dalvik cache files with the installed apps to make sure it does not need updating. The more apps you have, the longer it takes. And of course if it finds it needs updating, it takes even longer while it rebuilds (optimizing apps). So if you want it to boot faster, delete unnecessary apps.

But I hardly have any applications installed ! The boot time on 10.2 with exactly the same applications installed is around 1 minute.
The problem of boot time is secondary.
The major problem is that even though CM 10.1.3 RC2 boots up fine just after I restore it through CWM (after optimizing apps), it always gets stuck at the CM boot logo after reboot and I cannot boot into it until I flast gapps. Then, even after doing that once, once google apps are updated I guess, if I try to reboot again, it gets stuck again !! And then I have to flash gapps once more. So, I cannot boot into CM without flashing gapps.

I am running CM 10.1.3. While I don't have the same issue as you describe but have a boot problem also.
I have not been able to boot without first wiping dalvick cache every time. Are other having this issue or do I have something messed up? BTW this install was made as an upgrade from RC2.

Yes, I noticed that I was able to boot into CM just be wiping Dalvik cache as well !!! I don't need to flash gapps every time actually.

So you are not the only one with the issue i guess, we are both in the same boat.

Found a thread here that helped my issue. I can't find it at this time. I would really like to credit and thank the poster. Now I can boot w/o going into CWM and wiping dalvick cache.
When you get it booted, go into setting/launcher/home screen and uncheck Wallpaper quick render.

It seems to have done the trick.
I will do a few more reboots over the next few days just to be sure.
