Good day,
I want to install a custom rom and was wondering what stable rom's are available for my incredible S. Also what upgrades (aka radio upgrade etc) would I need to do
Specs:
- HTC Incredible S
Android 2.3.3 (stock htc rom)
Bell Network
- Revolutionary
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.13.1002
RADIO-3805.04.03.27_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 1 2011,18:34:39
- Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
I've installed Revolutionary CWM so I could enable S-off & restore the stock ROM (with settings etc) anytime. It's neat but I want to explorer the other custom OS.
Thanks

You have a GingerBread ROM (2.3.3) so you won't have to worry about a radio upgrade with any of the custom ROMs.
Make a 'nandroid' backup from CWM and then start playing.
Since you have Revolutionary and CWM you are free to install any of the custom ROMs. If you don't like a particular one, just restore your 'nandroid' backup or try another one.
I'm on bell and your going to notice connectivity problems with any 4.0 + roms

Yes if you are rooted and have a custom recovery, you can install this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583395
Works like a charm! Thanks!
Have the same setup as OP. If going up to a 4.0 Rom, like Nik Project X v4.1 or Virtuous Infinity v1.30.0. Would Hboot and Radio need to be updated?
I saw some post that had roms needing blackrose and an updated 4.0 radio, other posts saying any bootloader/radio works, does this apply for 2.3.3 roms?
If I wanted to go back to stock rom, would it be just a nandroid restore, or addtional downgrading need to be done?
Thanks for any help.

Are you following the wipe instructions for those ROMs completely? Have you tried disabling the Overclock/Undervoltage settings in the kernels?
Yes I am following the wipe instructions for the rom completely. Also tried Superwipe then followed the roms wipe instructions. No I have not disabling the Overclock/Undervoltage settings in the kernels, not sure if this would affect the boot procedure. Can't get passed the very first green and white HTC screen. Flash a different working boot.img, then I get the animated screen which just keeps looping.
I have the exact same problem, except only miui and cyanogenmod only work on my phone. I want to use android revolution HD but no luck. Tried swapping boot files as well and get boot loops. I got hboot 1.16.0000 with s-on but I have cwm so no reason why it shouldn't work.

Hey,
I had the same problem until I downloaded 4exit recovery and wiped and flashed any rom and it worked straight away.
For some reason some of the roms will not work with standard cm recovery. So basically just google 4exit recovery, install it, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, install zip from sdcard, flash and enjoy.
Took hours of searching and my head melted for this simple solution.
Hope it helps

There are threads in the Development section on how to flash radios, so I suggest you visit those and study them. It isn't too difficult once you read and gain an understanding of the process.

You have to downgrade because of your hboot version.
When I rooted, I was on gingerbread with hboot 2.02. I still had to downgrade to 1.13 to flash custom recovery etc.
To root, check one of these threads. I do not think you have a choice because unlike some of the older phones, the IncS has a complex security system to prevent "rooting" which was implicated by htc. HTC has now allowed the bootloader to be unlocked which makes life easier for us to root.
These "OneClick" roots almost never work on the IncS due to it's security. It will work on phones like the Galaxy Ace because to gain root access you just have to tweak the settings.
Hope I helped.

You have helped a lot. I have followed the procedure on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36489294#post36489294
However, I got locked at step 5. I have put in some questions on that thread but I've not gotten any answers yet. Thanks.
It seems that you have failed only at the part where you are "testing" root access. Rather than fixing this, there are other ways to test if you have root access..
-Bootloader should have **Revolutionary** or **Blackrose**
-Recovery should be clockworkmod or 4ext
-There should be an app called superuser in ur app list.
-Furthermore, you can install an app called Root Checker, and check if u got root access. I do not guarantee it works, but give it a try.
If all these tests return positice, chances are u got root access.
Also, if u are still on revolutionary hboot and clockwordmod, i reccommend you upgrade to blackrose hboot and 4ext recovery.
Blackrose because of compatibility, and 4ext because it is easier to use.
Keep in mind that you need an unsecured boot.img for blackrose, so make a nandroid of ur rom and flash cm7. Then install blackrose. It should work. If u do not have unsecured boot.img, you will recieve an error.

Hello.
Your bootloader is unlocked, so S-OFF or S-ON is not that important (though you cannot downgrade the hboot with S-ON, so you are stuck on 1.54 untill a tool for S-OFF on HBOOT 1.54 is made - im in the same situation by the way).
1. Flash custom recovery (TWRP or CWM)
2. Install a custom rom (im running with this one, based on android 4.3, GE (Google Edition) of Android.
3. Done
EDIT: No, S-OFF is not required, unless you want to flash CUSTOM firmwares or a few other things. Custom rom and custom recovery is doable as long as your bootloader is unlocked.
Kind Regards

I think if your at 1.54 you can't s-off without some decent work. Have you tried some of the GE ROM's? I've been using the SinLessROM 4.1 GE and its better then stock GE if you ask me. Good luck with whatever path you take.

Backup apps and settings with titanium backup. For the 3 dot menu there is an xposed mod for that. Note that installing xposed on the HTC one is different than usually, due to the system partition being protected in some way (changes are lost on reboot).
