Hello,
First, thank you lufc, I haven't been on the forums for a while, so sorry. :3
Next, I downgraded my phone to V4 yet I'm still having this exact same problem. However when I execute rage it runs, then adb disconnects. I restart adb and the phone either discontinues to show up or is offline.
Anyone that can help me?
Thank You,
C
The latest firmware release prevents rooting. Look in About Phone, and if the version ends in V6 you'll have to wait for an updated rooting tool release.

OK Thanks!
I thought it had something to do with that. I just upgraded from my Eris and I haven't been on XDA for a while.

This is my first post in the LG Revo section. I love my phone, but the OTA was done in the store, therefore I can't root. I've read through all the posts here but I haven't read anything that says someone is actually working on a way to root the V6 firmware. Does anyone know if someone is working on this or if there are any updates? Thanks!
Erik
I believe there is a way to downgrade the firmware ad root from there. Check in the dev section or possibly in this general section

i'm waiting too
downgrade + OTA survival ?
Did you try to downgrade, root, set OTA survival and reflash .253?
EDIT: Doesn't work.
As eager as you're to root, this is not the forum to post in. This is a development forum so please use the Q & A from next time.
If i update my 350 via ota to 434 and after to 253 i lose the root?

So from your perpsective, rooting methods and tools should be posted in Q&A ? Asking for a rooting tool in Q&A, no devs will ever see it.
You see, there are rules we need to follow. A development forum is where a developer or a contributor posts. Requests are entertained in the Q&A only. Also, if someone does manage to root the new firmware, it'll be up on the development forum. I have nothing against requests, just try to keep the forums organised.

A solution that works

Maybe OP can change title to SOLVED or better FW.253 ROOTED ?
The solution is not from me, so don't forget to thank the rightful users/devs who did it.
Here are direct links to the "guide" to make it work, until OP is updated:
To install .253 rooted:

To fix reboot issues:

Don't understand the fix reboot part
only create the file with notepad named "install-recovery.sh" and put it into the path in the flashable zip?

I just flash my Note3 to install Stock 4.4.2 update. Do whatever and the system update manually, OTA and pushed by AT&T fails at 27% updating the phone. Anyone is experiencing the same issue?
Going back to root probably tonight and forget about AT&T KitKat. lol

the link to the fix is right above your post
Once again. If someone finds a 28% update failure like myself (like clockwork) on my kit kat update please. Please please let me know. I have my reasons. And yes I know there are fixes. However I'm more interested on 28 from the most seen 27% fail ..I have my reasons. And I thank you all...peace.

It seems your phone was previously rooted. It happens to me as well. I am still waiting for solution from the developer.
So if your phone was previously rooted, but no longer rooted... you can't get the update? Even if I wanted to stay un-rooted, the only way to update to kitkat is by re-rooting and the upgrading?
Oh look... Another thread amongst 6 billion with the same issue...
This has been fixed and gone over many many MANY times... Please go look in the general section.

This post would be far more helpful with some actual links to maybe one or two of the useful threads out of the 6 billion. I searched the general section and have not found any simple fix to take the OTA update from a rooted NB4. However, I did find some other threads on the topic so hopefully these will help others. If I find a better fix I'll post it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696795 - another thread on the topic with a few ideas including getting the phone flashed and then taking the OTA update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701062 - this seems to be the only do-it-yourself fix for the issue that I've seen, but it requires downgrading to MJ5

It would be far more helpful to everyone if the OP actually searched. That's why I say where to look and do not provide links anymore. We are not here to spoonfeed people.

Except that after I read your post, I was under the impression that there was a simple fix to get the OTA update to complete. There isn't, at least not that I could find. I searched for quite some time trying to find the "fix" you were referring to and out of the six billion posts I only came up with those two links. Also the link in the 2nd post of this thread was useful. However, as far as I can tell, there are workarounds to get the kitkat upgrade, but there is no way to get the OTA update to complete on its own. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
Incidentally, this thread was the first thread I came across in my search for a solution. If I landed here first, others will do the same. That's why I think it's helpful to others if you post a link to the appropriate information. It's not just for the sake of the OP, but for everyone who lands here. However, if you feel like it's better for the community to teach the OP a lesson and force them to search, that's really your call. We'll just agree to disagree.
Maybe it's premature to ask but any thoughts on the recent exploit to gain root on moto x? I have an updated uscc ver I've been crying in my beer about not being able to root for tether mostly.
Advise holding off upgrading to 4.4.4 in the meantime?
Thanks
Gah I'm sure I posted this in the wrong section accidentally. Must be blind to the delete button tonight too...

Worry not - I've requested that it be moved to Q&A...
Anyways YES, updating to 4.4.4 will guarantee that you will NEVER be able to root.
If you want details, see the TowelPieRoot thread (in apps/themes sub-forum). It is already out and confirmed working on 4.4.2 (and SOME 4.4.3 variants). It will allow you to tether.
I am a little confused by your title "fake id exploit"? EDIT: just read up on that exploit...wow! Anyways, that exploit does not appear to be capable of gaining root access on a device that doesn't already have the su binary installed. I could definitely be mistaken about that, but after my quick read-up on the details, it appears to only allow one app to masquerade as another. This would appear to mean that an app could only gain root access (once again), if the device is already rooted (su binary installed). It COULD, however, allow a malicious app to bypass a control app like SuperSU, by claiming to be another app you have already granted su access to.
Regardless, my previous statements still apply: see the TowelPieRoot thread if you are interested in rooting...
Good Luck

Most devices that have updated Google apps recently won't be able to use that exploit.
