eBay battery charger for $2.50
Try this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-US-Batte...ccessories&hash=item3cc3d3923b#ht_5170wt_1181
And buy an extra battery so that you have one charged while the other is in the phone.
How about transferring files from computer to phone and vice versa with the usb cable? Does that work?
Hate to say it, but this is hardware fault. I've had the same issue. It is weakness of the USB connector plate. Mine was quickly replaced.
You can try to push carefully the plugged cable and connector down - in direction of the battery cover. It helped me to charge the device a few times in order to flash back stock ROM and claim warranty repair.

Good luck !
Mainly i was asking since I'm in the USA and bought my note used. If it fails (and i know its hardware) what's my nest route for getting it fixed?
I was able to get it to charge by pulling spen out and it showed charging icon. Put pen back in and it charged over night???
Really weird?

Might sound wierd but i had the same issue after downgradibg from ics. I know how this soubds stupid but a combination of downgrading, flashing custom 4.2 kernal, and restoring titanium backup. 2 days i ciuldnt charge my phone with 10+ chargers i have.
After formatting my sd, flashing full wipe and starting fresh everything went back to normal. I couldnt tell you what happen.
I was getting dock mode, vlingo and charging on/off flashing across my screen when plugging in charger.
If its harware and you cant send in for warranty. I would suggest opening the phone and taking off the speaker part. Youll be able to see if the charging port is loose or any dirt etc is around. The charging port is $5 on ebay and i think requires soldering.

This is what you do. take the battery out and then take a plastic edge like credit card type edge or even a plastic screw driver or maybe a real metal small tiny screwdriver and push the USB pin strip inside the usb port inside the phone. Not down or up but push is straight inside without bending anything. meaning: apply enough force but don't try to destroy the usb post inside the phone. This will most likely solve your problem. now take a look at the cover of the phone you have bought. make sure you cut the opening of the usb post on the plastic cover so that it allows the micro usb cable to connect without any hindrance or difficulty. I think my phone cover had a small hole in the flexible after-market cover I had bought. I didn't allow me to fit in the micro usb cable to connect easily. I had to push it in, in a slight angle. maybe this is what loosened the usb port pins inside the phone.
good luck. if all fails, buy the usb port for your phone on ebay. type in samsung galaxy note flex usb port and you will see listings. It should take you 10 mins to change the port inside the phone.
Hi every1. I have got a wierd fault. I cant charge my phone but can charge external battery charger with usb lead only via laptop...... Anybody got any ideas as to fixing this...??? I have 2 batteries and have to swap and charge them every day.
Thanx.
i have galaxy note for more than 3 months and this is very first time i am facing the problem that my note wasnt charging ....then after some time it started to charge but would disconnect and the reconnect to charging
also i see that car mode is getting activated randomly (it happened 3-4 times)
i am on stock rom and not rooted
what should i do ?
Might be some dust inside the usb port in your mobile.try to blow some compressed air.It might resolve your problem
Next post says it all for me
Edit: looks like lint caused it with me. I got a very fine toothpick brush and cleaned it. note 2 needs a dust cap lol

Interesting might have other workarounds

take out the battery and then take a plastic fine edge and push the usb pins back inside the usb port. use force to push the pins straight inside the phone without bending anything inside. the phone should work fine then. make sure the cover you have bought for the phone has big enough opening for the usb cable to connect freely to phone. if not, then cut up a bigger hole on the cover.
I used a fine , tiny screw driver to oush the pins of usb port back inside the phone. all work fine now (3 months).
I'm having a bit of an issue with my usb port where I need to push the cable upwards (if you are facing the phones screen) in order for the phone to begin charging. It also is taking a little longer than normal. I have tried a different cable as well with the same result.
Is there anyway to repair the usb port on the HD7? I just took the case apart on the back, but the port is still shielded. Is there any instructions out there on how to replace this port?
Iron soldering or a new board, your choice.
try with the soldering, if that fails, a new board must be bought, it cost around $25-$35 online.
So, every time I connect my Moto X to my Windows Laptop via USB, it always keeps plugging and unplugging itself as if I was doing it. The phone icon appears and it begins to try and load the memory storage and then it just vanishes and "unplugs itself". As of now, I just unplug the USB cable from one slot of the laptop and then insert it in another, and it fixes the issue.
Now, that doesn't work either. What's the problem and how can I fix it?
Chances are it's one of a few things.
Bad cable. Bad ports on laptop. Or the port on your phone.
I'd start with some different cables.
Then try a different pc.
If it's the phone, then that's a problem. The phone ports are fragile. My daughters Gtab3 has a wonky port, cause I'm sure the plastic tab was snapped by her using the tablet while it's plugged in. So now to charge it, it will only work sitting still on whatever and I have to jiggle the cable to get it just right. It's only help by the wires inside now.

I repaired the Moto X Device Manager and now I'm using a different cable. So far. so good. I'll report back in a few days to see if anything changes.
Need advice from PPC-6700 folks on VZW XV6700. its currently wont take charge via the usb on bottom. i purchased new battery and most i get is phone turns on for few seconds and shuts off after it hit home page. and the light does not turn red when plugged in. it was working fine up until last week.
Maybe a bad usb port pcb. Could be a failed mobo.
Meh, bold type not needed...
Thanks for quick response. Im relatively new to diy with phones. is replacing the usb on this device something id be able to do myself? without possibly causing more damage.
Look at a tear down vid. It may not be the port pcb. You sure the battery is good and connected properly ie no bent connector pins?
No loose ribbon cable connectors?
historically that battery was never secure based off the design itslef. i may have bought dud battery... id need one more to test that theory. i have 8 different cords ive used and nada. its the old half octogon looking ones. they aren't prongs like the ones now.
I can open it up and send pic. Maybe you will see something I’m not..
You can see more than me. The port looks ok.
Finding out what common issues that device has may be useful.
For that device I'm not going to be much help other than the very basics.
Can you access the boot menu?
Use a known good power cable and charger; make sure they are good. Cables fail erratically and unpredictably.
Power it completely down and try letting it charge overnight.
ive been trying to sneak in but it shuts down if i try anything. plus i cant find one tear down video.. looks like i may be creating the first. ill sleep on it instead of jumping in half cocked.. ill give you update soon. thanks for your time.
tbh! i was gonna attempt to splice open old usb cord and bypass port using the wires directly to prongs? what you think

Get a new cable preferably OEM.
You start splicing and get it wrong or if the cable is bad at a different point... you're trying to troubleshoot it, not start new trouble
Sounded better in my head lol. but the first cord that stopped working wa replaced and did great till now. ive rounded up 4 others from storage. non seem to catch. im trying not to order a 2nd new battery and cord. even plugged into pc or laptop it doesnt recognize anything.

anyone there? i managed to get it to screen that shows " serial up top and v 1.00"... ive left it alone because its not turning off and im hoping its accepting a charge now .
Back in business, I ended up just splicing a old usb cord connected + and - right into prongs for n back of phone and sliding battery in to hold it n place. 3 hours I’m at 80% juice. I’ll have to upgrade etc
