My captivate is currently bricked even worst if you have seen my post in captivate q&a i'm seriously thinking about sending it to him....but I am unsure of how it works because I want the unbrickable mod but it says unbrickable mod plus repair idk if that mean he includes any kind of repair

They're fantastic. Trustworthy repair company in my opinion. I bought my jig from their website and got my crappy fixed there as well.

I used them to repair my IMEI. Fast turn around and great service. I mailed it Priority mail on a Friday and had my phone back to me by the following Friday.

I sent my phone to them when it was bricked. I ordered the unbrickable mod plus repair it was only $40 i tested the unbrickable mod when i got it back. It worked just like it says on the order page.

Another +1 here. We had a great experience with them. Sent in two cappys for unbrickable mods and not a problem, great prices and fast service. Cant ask for better in my opinion.

Here's the difference. If the phone is functional and booting, it's just ubm. If it's not booting, it's ubm plus repair. Either way, they do great work. Ubm is the better way to go. No more worries of turning your phone into a paperweight.

Had my cappy done last year. Josh is great I had a corrupt IMEI and asked if I could get UBM +repair and it was no sweat quick turn around and great communication.

I sent my Cappy in last December or early January. It was dead bricked blacked out. sent it in to MTV and for $65.00 Josh, the owner / Tech repaired my phone and did the unbrickable modification, that price included shipping. Josh was great at keeping me updated during the process, and I had my phone in my hand in perfect working order within 5 or 6 days. He's in Texas and I'm in California,so it my be a day or two more or less depending where you are. But, I highly recommend them, without any hesitation.

I worked with him by e-mail on a few issues. He instructions were clear and simple; helped me out in some serious tweaking of my phone.

Unbricked my Galaxy Note
Responsive, quick (within a week) service. I had hard bricked my Note with the wrong bootloader and Josh was able to get it going again. Phone is working great now. Heartily recommend his service.

Glad to hear these reviews guys. I certainly appreciate the honesty...

^
Hey, the man himself....We r not worthy !!
But for real, appreciate all the time u have put in and hard work u've done and continue to do. You have definetly helped a lot of people. Been a fan for a long time.

does anybody have the address to MTV? i'm trying to calculate cost of shipping from san diego.
---------- Post added at 05:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------
nevermind, i didn't even think that the address would show up at the check out screen.

i bricked my cappy in dec, wrong bootloaderor something. Josh had it back to me in canada in a week and a half and it was running 2.3 not 2.2 and smoother than before. I emailed him for some q's and he got back to me quickly. great guy.

Unfortunately, my experience so far in getting in touch with them has been different than almost every one else's that I have read on these forums and elsewhere.
I am not dissing them - in fact I have great respect for them and have appreciated their informative videos. In fact, it was one of their videos that motivated to try the FFC mod on my development phone (Vibrant). I sent an email to them at the address on their website last Friday and then also sent a PM to Josh on this forum yesterday but have yet to hear back. Hoping to hear back soon so I can move forward with the FFC mod.

Did you look at the FAQ on their site about business days AND hours? o.o

Highly recommended
I just used Josh's service very recently. Phone was repaired and back to me within a week.

I sent him my Captivate when the power button crapped out. He fixed it within about a week and it was back fast. I really liked the constant status update messages, so I didn't have to guess what was going on with the phone. I definitely recommend him for fixing a broken Cappy!

Is JasJamming Dead?

Hi I was wondering what happened to JJ. I mean he was the king of cooks on hermes in the old days. Dos anyone know what happened to him?
He moved off to another forum a while back. My understanding was that the other forum would better allow him to manage the thousands of questions he was getting on his ROMS which he felt had been asked countless times.
I genuinely don't know whether he is still into developing ROMS; however there are a raft of excellent cooks and ROMs out there now which means one is spoilt for choice. We should continue to be in this great position if we continue to support the cooks we have left, especially from a donation perspective.
WB
Not dead, but it looks like he's had to leave the scene:
http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/hermes-black-rom-support/12730-hi-bye.html
(I haven't followed JJ's career since he left here, so this might have been superceded, your question made me wonder, so I went googling).
JJ
Ok I looked at your link at 4winmobile. So now we kno what happened to him. Sad though. Back in the days he was the only "real" cook that made the hermes an amazing toy. Hope he will be back one day...
not dead, still lurking......

Wait. 2008 was 4 years ago? Damn.
And welcome back JJ, even though I never heard of you, and I'm from the generation that thought NRG was the ROM God. lol
A 4 year bump is pretty impressive, especially when it's legit.....
Also, always nice to find out someone's not dead.

[Q] No cyanogen 7 ?

As you mayhave noticed the firstcm7 nightlies were released today. But not for DS.
Have we officially been discontinued now?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
Well unless someone steps up to do the G1 work i do believe so. As you can see there is a CM7 for Hero, which runs on about the same specs, more Ram, but we have seen the AOSP Gingerbread builds running quite well on G1, so i guess CM could work too.

You need to think before you post. The OP's question was NOT in ANY WAY out of line.
I hope someone like ezterry can help the team.
or maybe someone can port the build to the g1 (from hero?), like for windows mobile devices(cm6 on htc touch pro,hd2,...).

You actually think that a bunch of random crap added into the end of that thread has any valid meaning?
How about you go ask CM himself... oh wait, somebody already has, and he said very specifically that it HAS NOT BEEN RULED OUT, it is just LOW PRIORITY.
Now personally, CM for Dream was never much good. Just way too much bloat for the hardware. Ezterry's work on the dream is much more interesting.
from cyanogenmod forum:
Sorry folks, end of the line on CM6 nightlies for DS; and I have yet to get confirmation of CM7 Nightlies for DS.
Will open new thread if it materializes.
Till then, thread closed

I asked Cyanogen on Twitter and he replied "Its not off the table but its not high priority either" there is hope yet
To be honest it seems liek alot of devs get our donations, buy themselves a better device then forget about the people who donated..This isnt true with cyanogen though he has supported D/S since first cyanogenmod. But is with others it seems
No worries...

AMEN, AMEN
I believe very few are as intimate with the intricacies of the D/S subsystem as Cyanogen. Those that are intimate with it may not feel the need to keep this hardware going. I admit that I'm eternally grateful to all the ROM developers here for all their hard work. Stock G1 is boring as **** and feels so restricted. Ever since I got root on this phone a year+ ago and started flashing ROMs, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders as if I shed the chains of slavery or some **** lol.
Rock on devs!!
Rock on XDA for providing a hub for all this great stuff.

Well it kinda has been almost 3yrs since the G1 came out, its been officially discontinued and people are moving on...But it seems the G1's community just hasn't died yet, I came here to see if 2.3 was available and I was surprised to see the source for it was up. I was a bit hesitant to use 2.3 since 2.2 was really laggy for me, but I'm sure others are happy with 2.2/2.3. But it's good to see that devs are still supporting this device, I wish the slide's community was this active...I actually feel jealous

True enough, although it has only been out for 2.5 years, and it was sold as recently as maybe 1.5 years ago. That means that people will have them under contract for a while longer yet. Plus, we're talking about expensive devices - people aren't necessarily going to want to upgrade them just for the heck of it (FYI - if anybody is upgrade eligible T-Mo has been giving away free-after-rebate G2s recently on their website).

Have you tried the new radio with the extra RAM? It makes a VERY big difference - my G1 is actually pretty decent running 2.2 with it.
I just replaced my MT3G with a HTC Desire (Bravo). I had so much fun, flashing and customising so thanks to everyone at XDA. I was a recieiver of all your hard work and I am thankful for your efforts.
Yeah, its a sad day for me, but all is not lost as I see that the DESIRE has a CM7 branch and some studious person(s) have worked out a way to get CWM running with full system access on the DESIRE. It will start again, but I will buy a new shell/keys for my MT3G, get it back to "new" looking and keep it, for it was the best phone I ever owned - Peter

[Q] Hard bricked Galaxy S i9000

Ok well I've had this Galaxy S and decided to follow a tutorial from a reputable website (not gonna name which one) and after following it, it led to the freezing of odin and as a result a hard bricking of my galaxy S. tried so many things read so many threads on this forum, ive even ordered a jig to try to use despite people saying that it won't work. then finally accepted the fact that it was screwed unless i used a jtagbox. now im not the best with that sort of stuff but just wanted to know if anyone knows any PROPER EXPERIENCED technicians in Australia if possible (in Sydney even more preferable) that can carry out the proper procedure for jtag. obviously if theres noone nearby im willing to post the phone out to them . what sort of price am i looking at for the procedure?
thanks in advance guys
there is an mobile repair shop next to Bankstown.
I don't know what u mean by Jtagbox, but my phone f**ked up so took it to him however I ended up getting a new phone for xmas lol

[Q] Samsung Note Issues

I just found the Samsung Note GT-N7000 lying on a wall by my job. what perfect timing seeing as my other phone broke. unfortunately, I'm having a few issues.
1. Phone will not perform a hard reset. I've done the volume up+ home+ power keys and the phone will not respond. I've tried doing it through the settings and can't seem to figure out the password.
2. WLAN fails to enable
3. I'm on T-Mobile and the phone will not recognize my data connection. I receieve calls and texts just fine. But, I cannot connect to the internet.
Is it possible the phone is region locked? would I have to go to T-Mobile and get them to unlock it? any help is greatly appreciated asap. I rely on my phone for work and really need it to perform.
I hate to be that person. But, bump
Could you not ask the original owner who put his phone down for a second, whether its simlocked...? As I am sure he/she will love to answer that for you..
I'm guessing by now, chances are the phone has prolly been reported stolen and de-activated by now... And will end up just being a Tablet very soon...

You act as if I made no attempt at finding the owner of the device. But, I don't think I need to explain myself to you.
if the phone was deactivated, would I still be able to receive calls and texts? because I can.
Who would lose a note and not want it back.however long it takes I think u should find a way to return it.return it to the network provider they will know the owner as I'm sure he or she is registered
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
It is true, you dont have to explain yourself to me... However, I am sure many other people see this post in the same way. As you've not extactly made your post appear as though you've tried all you can to return it to the rightful owner. No mention of this... Only that you found it on a wall and it comes in handy as your other phone has died? And barely 3.5 hrs after posting the initial request, that your bumping a thread for answers, which shows your desperate for that quick answer...
Some times it can take a couple of days before people see or will reply to a post, not hours...
Not wishing to be mean or anything, but ya gotta see it from other peoples point of view too... Not saying you didnt try to return it... But nothing in your posts express that, only your eagerness to Restore the phone into a working state that you can use...
Don't return it, there stupid fault for losing it... Keep it and enjoy it did.

Seriously? Really?
If so, then let's move further - if someone is stupid enough to keep the phone accessible in public, he just deserves to have it stolen.
The difference between pavement and somebody's pocket is negligible, isn't it?
PS. To the OP - usually, with a found phone, it's enough to dial one of the most recent calls to find who is the owner.
Well said p107r0... My thoughts exactly...
Its not hard to just dial the first person in the phonebook, or recent calls...
My dads mate lost his phone, ok so it wasnt a Smartphone or anything to be proud of finding... just ya old basic call/text type... But he uses it for work, all his contacts and would be lost without it...
Yet one day I was in a pub, enjoying a drink and I get a random call from his phone... The person who found it in the street dialed my number as it was alphabetically first and told me he found it and where he could return it too. I was so pleased to hear honesty from him, and told my dad who passed it onto his mate. This person even waited around for when was a good time for my dads mate to see him, he was so pleased to get it back he rewarded him....
So before anything says its their own dumb fault, they deserve it... Just think if it was your own phone... Would you be happy if you lost access to all your data?? Knowing someone has got something of YOURS?? If your that kind of person, well lets hope they take something from you or your family.. and see how it feels????

Some context since I have a moment: I Used some type of tool/program to root this thing when I got launch day. I finally broke it on a business trip in Japan last week and I have honestly fell off the forums completely since my son was born about the same time as I originally rooted this thing. That, combined with a partnership I have taken on in business- has essentially taken all free time away and, when my replacement arrived yesterday, I felt completely inept and without any reference point in my head to work from. Sad, I really miss having the time to mess around with my gadgets and I've learned so much here, but I'm really hoping to find some balance soon enough. So on lunch, after a day and a half of searching, I gave up and indeed made a very clumsy post, absent of any real thought-clearly showing some frustration. I Still have no idea where this all in one that I know I used to root this originally went and I certainly posted in the wrong section-no excuse for that- the gentleman has every right to react how he sees fit although after 7 years here I never found any productivity come out of commenting in that manor-so I choose to conduct myself differently from the outset. Appreciate the time and help.

I hear you; five kids, a full time job, and full time school and I try to build ROMs for this device. I understand where your coming from. Not the end of the world. But, as I have said in my threads before, if you make a really silly request, I reserve the right to mess with you about it. That's just me. But, I do it in playfulness, not actual meanness. Be cool, and if you need any help with anything, look me up.

No doubt you have that right and I'm all for bustin chops as well-to a point of course and yours was constructive. But some of the rage that I regularly see come out in comments here really bewilders me-I mean a paragraph about what a blanking idiot someone is or details about what they can go do to themselves- all because they are having trouble with something or even made a thoughtless post (like I did) -makes me want to say- "dude what happened in your day/life to react that strongly over something so insignificant?". Who knows. Anyway, I really appreciate you reaching out and relating to my situation a bit- especially since you clearly have a very busy life yourself-to say the least.
