Factory Reset - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I've just heard that if i do a factory reset on my Vivid w/ICS, it will bring it back to GB, with an upgrade message to get ICS back. Does this seem right? Thanks for any help.

i am pretty sure that will not work as far as i know you have to downgrade your hboot to go back to GB but i am not 100% on that seeing as i am not even thinking about going back to GB after having ICS

No that is not true a factory reset will just wipe all of your user data making it like when you got the phone it wont erase ics

It will bring to the same Rom you have but as a completely fresh install

That may be what i need. ICS acting weird. If i unmount and remove my sd card, i'll get a fresh copy of ICS, even though the phone originally came with GB? If i could go back to GB without rooting, i would, but i'll take what i can get. Thanks.

Ics bugged to hell in every Rom I tried on this phone stock or custom, maybe in general Idk I only had it on sense
Hope we get Aosp (real) ics working soon and I hope its half as good as I expected because its not even sracting the surface for Me

Weird. I've been running ICS (Rum Float Beta 4) since PirateGhost got us ICS and I've had zero issues. It's been absolutely rock solid for me. He released a Beta 5 but I haven't installed it yet since Beta 4 has been so good to me.

If you want GB back, just flash a GB ROM (and it's boot.img of course). You can run GB ROM's on the new HBOOT so I wouldn't go through all the trouble of a factory reset which will just get you back to ICS. If you think you like ICS and are just having issues with the ROM you're running, I would try a different ICS ROM or wiping and re-flashing the one you have to see if that fixes your issues.

My Vivid isn't rooted. This is my first Android phone, and i'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but it sounds exactly like what i need. I'd like to go back to GB, at least temporarily, and then try upgrading ICS again, hopefully from my phone's software update page. Is there anyway that you could lead me through this install, step by step? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go grab the GB RUU for your phone and run it.

First backup/write down your apn & mms settings, there are lots of info here on the forums to do this, or an app like this: http://android.riteshsahu.com/apps/apn-backup-restore.
Do a full nandroid backup to your sd card to be safe.
Follow the instructions on this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1331814 to get the o3d rom running on the thrill, it's a fairly long process, but not too bad.

lol. No need to be rude. It didn't work. Most of these 'leaked' won't work right until we get one specific that works for our device.
my bad i actually typed that in the wrong field
Question. If I get my phone unlocked to work with any Sim chip and then change Baseband and rim to o3d ginger will that reverse the unlock or take it away?
several better full blown GB versions have come out with much better instructions, this thread is pointless now.
Also FYI, at this moment cell service outside of major cities is crap on all 03D based GB roms.

[Q] how to remove cyanogenmod and return to stock rom??

hello friends i have installed cyanogenmod on my optimus 2x one week ago and now i want to teturn to my old original gingerbread stock rom that lg provided me. i didnt take nandroid backup of that rom. so pls guys help me as soon as possible. as give me brief details of updating thax in advance..

Find your firmware that fits to your country and provider. Download the file and read the instructions (link at the bottom of the first post).
After that, you'll have an untouched stock rom again (but why? )
If you have a Backup of the Stock ROM you could just restore from it.
But if you dont, you have to download your ROM and use SmartFlash.
You should try MIUI Roms if CMs a bit out of your taste.
Goodluck though!

Try the newer ROMs based on V20O....which will ofcourse require you to flash the Base Band V20M and the RIL recommended by GetRIL or LG RIL apps.
But, personally, I was happy with Thanatos 5.1, Blazing Dragon 2.1a, Django0.5ICS with spica's Kernel....all these gave me a minimum of 40hrs in battery performance and the device was very soft with movement with extremely few reboots and FCs in app openings.
Everything depends on ur satisfaction and feel.....Try these....I tried also the CM7 but changed....so try all the great work by developers....appreciate the fact that without these guys....this device would be uninteresting...
BRAVO DEVELOPERS of LG O2X
May I also ask - what ROM were you specifically using? Were you using CM 7.1 normal? Were you using some other CM7 based rom?
I recently made the switch from stock GB to tomasek's CM7 nightly based rom and I'm not going back - it's just heaps and bounds better than anything else I've tried.
If you have in fact tried a recent CM7 "Kang" build then please tell us what you found lacking.
To me there would only be one single reason to go back to stock - the LG widgets. I haven't found anything that works like the LG Memo widget anywhere else. (ie it's a widget, not only an app. You can also slide left/right to get the next/previous note. I haven't found anything that can do this). If someone pointed me at a similar widget then I'd be set.
But that aside, it's worth not having the LG widgets if it means getting all the other improvements of CM.
Another big point for me - Where do you think the first ICS roms will come from?
Very likely CM9. They are hard at work at it right now and looking at the progress document they're making huge steps every day.
So getting used to CM7.x now only means that it's easier to switch to CM9 (ICS) when it comes.
That's just my 0.02 of whatever currency you happen to be using.
// Stefan
yeah just flash a stock rom over it, and make a backup of your apps if you need to

I just found this, Perhaps it will solve your problem:

Ah interesting, I would think i9000 bootloaders on an i897 would CAUSE issues!
I put together a little package for anyone with an i897 captivate still having shutdown issues and is still frustrated. Give this a try, I have a feeling they will disappear.
Use this Odin one click to wipe/reset your phone to the latest official rom, uckk4. This one click INCLUDES the latest bootloaders ever released for our phone, both primary and secondary. These are the bootloaders that have made mine and others shutdown issue disappear. This is completely safe to one-click no matter what is on your phone right now, just use a reliable USB cable like with any other flash. No matter what state your phone is in, if you can get into download mode, this will wipe your phone to 2.3.5 with 2.3.5 bootloaders
http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/android/i897uckk4 with latest BL.zip
After you've done that, use this odin package to install CWM recovery for the stock 2.3.5 installation you now have
http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/android/uckk4 CWM recovery.zip
Now you can get into CWM and flash whatever rom you want! ICS, jellybean, whatever. And you now have the latest 2.3.5 bootloaders and your shutdown issue should be gone. I've done this several times to several captivates now with zero issues. I hope this helps someone!

Yeah I remember now. I9000 ROMs aren't being ported anymore, are they? I know flashing a I9000 ROM is quite the bad idea on our phone (even tho some people reported it worked fine) but it makes me wonder if using a I9000 ROM on I9000 bootloaders would be fine for those with SoD issue on JB where only flashing the I9000 BLs don't solve their problem.. (PS.: Don't attempt this if you don't know what you're doing lol). I'm thinking the home button won't work and screen might not be oriented correctly tho.

[FYI] OTA Update 4.08.605.19

I saw this on DroidLife and figured y'all might benefit from this (I hadn't seen any post's about it) so here you go
Update to Build 4.08.605.19 Published on February 1st, 2013 Written by: Kellex DroidLife.com
The original DROID Incredible by HTC, a device released almost three years ago, is set to receive its next OTA update. The update is minor to build 4.08.605.19, and simply includes a fix to reduce reboots, but man, how random is that?
We didn’t think anything could top the randomness of the Thunderbolt Ice Cream Sandwich update that popped up yesterday through Big Red’s support site, however, it’s safe to say that this just topped it.
The update is 4.2MB in size.

Love it. Seriously though if we are still seeing minor ota's for GB we should have ATLEAST got ICS 4.0.something. I wonder how many Inc's are still activated on Verizons network.

Well considering the extreme annoyance caused by the 2am reboot thing that was introduced with the last OTA, this update was long overdue. Hey, an update to ICS would be truly awesome but it would be a bit bigger than 4.2Mb I dare say (and would involve a whole lot more time and money to develop, something that would be very majorly hugely unlikely for a three year old device like this).

Verizons excuse is they didn't want to have to repartition the internal storage which would be required to fit ICS and all their bloat.

Oh ya. I kinda figured it would be some stupid HW limitation preventing us from seeing official ICS but bloatware is the worst excuse ever.

Cm 10.1 doesn't even fit well on the inc without some tweaking. There's no way a sense ICS will fit on 250mb when AOSP is smaller than sense. Do you remember how the sense build that I worked on with puremotive needed symlinks to fit and that's the lighter version of sense?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Coincidentally, I was thinking of sending my old Incredible back to stock in order to attempt maximizing its stability, because I'm giving it to my kid as a games platform for travel, etc.
The phone is no longer registered on Verizon's network, so I'm guessing that means I would not get access to an OTA update if I placed the 4.08.605.15 RUU on this phone - correct?

Any idea how to stop the nagging about this update? Running wildstangs 4.08.605.2 stock ota. I stopped the last nag with a simple edit, but can't remember what it was.
Try flashing this through CWM. Worked the last time on the OTA, should still do the trick.

Thanks omniatic. What is that apk? I was just coming back to edit my post above. I was referring to editing the build.prop to stop the OTA - not that I'm against using your attachment.
FOTAKill.apk. Not sure how it stops the nag, but it does.

Guess I'm just more comfortable editing the one line in build.prop. Just need to find out what to change it to. I posted on an old thread about disabling the Verizon OTA update to see if anyone can help me out.

Yes the update is now active. I saved it if anyone wants to root it and or check it out. I have not installed it.
I have the stock ROM.. I got prompted to update an hour ago.. it went through fine. I was hoping it would fix the proximity sensor bug which drains the battery (dialer process in battery view). Haven't checked whether it was fixed yet, but I doubt it.
FYI, I'm using the phone through Page Plus.. which relies on Verizon's network. I never expected to see an update for this phone..

Was your phone rooted and s-off prior to the OTA and if so, did you lose root? Have you tried to root again?

Coincidentally, I was thinking of sending my old Incredible back to stock in order to attempt maximizing its stability, because I'm giving it to my kid as a games platform for travel, etc.
The phone is no longer registered on Verizon's network, so I'm guessing that means I would not get access to an OTA update if I placed the 4.08.605.15 RUU on this phone - correct?

The OTA was pushed to my phone while using the Sparkplug rom. I saved it but I have not installed it yet in fear of losing root. I have 3 Incredibles and they all belong to my kids. I'm going to attempt to root it and install it to see how it runs.

Here's why your touchscreen isn't working after flashing the 3.04.651.2 firmware.....

I keep seeing people freak out after flashing the full 3.04.651.2 firmware and then they have no touchscreen. First of all, don't flash anything if you have no idea what it will do. Read people, its not that hard.
Anyways, if you have flashed the latest firmware with the latest touch panel img, then you must have the latest TWRP (2.6.3.0) to have touch in recovery and you must also be on a rom running the latest kernel to have touch while booted into the system.

Very well explained sir thank you!! Been trying to figure out what was going on but its hard to follow while at work LOL
So thats why my viper Rom wouldn't have touchscreen

The only problem I've had so far is after updating TWRP to 2.6.3.0 if im in recovery and don't touch the screen until twrp goes into sleep mode, the screen turns black and I can't get the screen to turn back on. It stays black.
I have to hold the power button until I can reboot.
Don't know if someone else has had this problem but I figured I'd share it. See if someone else can replicate the problem.
I FLASHED FIRMWARE AND ALL THAT! TWRP OK, but my Tranquil ROM touch screen frozen. In order to fix this, I must go 4.3 or RUU 4.1.2 right?

Mine does the same thing. I got it to turn back on the first time, but after I leet it time out again, screen would not turn back on. Simple fix though, just go into settings and disable screen timeout.

You can't run tranquil with the latest touch panel firmware, that is why nothing works. Your only options are to downgrade your touch panel back or flash the new 4.3 stock rooted rom.
I think like the man said. You need to have an updated kernel. Or like you said run a 4.3 ROM or ruu it.

Could you link me to downgrading? I flashed the s-off firmwares in Indirects Threads for 1.31 to no avail. I'm 1.44 s-off... I was successful in flashing the 1.31 radio back thinking it would fix the touch panel

The 1.31 firmware from that thread doesn't contain a touch panel img, you would need to find firmware from 1.29.
I'm on the search for it now... Thanks for the heads up
I'm still on 42one v1.0 rom, I flashed the latest firmware and radios and have no issues, still using twrp 2.5.0.0

Just an FYI, I am in the process of getting the firmware for the 1.29.651.10 and 1.29.651.7 RUUs for who ever needs them.

-I installed OMJs ROM than I tried FLex's because I needed the gallery for work with 4.3.
-I always wait for the Radio's and Firmware to get sorted out after the bugs info starts flowing and then gets ironed out.
-I installed the ROMS using TWRP 2.5 and just installed the latest 2.6 variant of TWRP and i have no major issues with the exceptions of some of the glitches in the new ROMS ATM.
-I really Like what flex did to his ROM and I also really OMJ's amazing work. I hope Trickdroid can be ported over eventually I have been eying that ROM for quite some time
-Anyways happy flashing.

You only need TWRP 2.6.3.0 if you have updated to the latest firmware with the new touch panel img

I'm actually not sure about that. Just make sure you do a nandroid backup before flashing the 4.3 rom. Also be sure you are aware of the file structure changes in 4.3:

No, flashing a 4.3 rom won't wipe your internal storage. A problem arises if you flash a 4.3 rom then try to return to a 4.1 rom. If you end up needing to do that, there is some information in that thread I linked earlier than you should read before doing so.
